As a social historian, the videos posted here will mainly be historical in nature - many from reenactments and open-air museums showing everyday life in America's past.
Plympton House at Greenfield Village
This house was built in Sudbury, Massachusetts and brought to historic Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, where it has been restored to the time it was built in the early 1700s. Most of the interior of the house is plexi-glassed off so visitors are limited in their movement inside. Greenfield Village does not employ presenters here so, instead, a recording is played to give one an idea of a typical Plympton Family conversation from the early 18th century.
I apologize for the reflections on the plexi-glass and the extraneous background noises. Perhaps one day I can get a better capture.

My mother just bought this spinning wheel today. She has always wanted one. She bought a kit to get started.
Wow this is one of the best explanations, about spinning wheel.

Now keep your Rhythm while you're being shot at
AND this is why the 1812 overture suddenly had canon fire, to wake the dozy people.
Nice
You filmed that when I was zero years old, but now I met you filmed that when I was a baby, how dare you?
As a Scyther I hate to see people in videos using a scythe so badly. Problems: dull scythe, bad posture, scythe not on the ground, hacking not slicing. He's killing himself there. Watch some scythe videos before you try it please. Your body will thank you.
Now thats soldering
As a serving UK rifleman I love it....
What is the person's name playing violin
I didn't ever make it to the Daggett house in Martha's Vineyard, I am going to make it a point to go to this place.
Correction: India created the chakra, NOT the Great Wheel. A chakra is a machine, yes, but much smaller (about the size of an attache case) and on the horizontal whereas the Great Wheel is vertical.
She can cane me anytime she likes ,I'd be very insolent
Interesting video. ☘️🌝🌲
Sonit was the first one I saw in a long while and it is a great one for a lot more people than I expected but I don’t think it would be a
Beautiful great wheel. I enjoyed your presentation very much. I have a great wheel and was spinning on it today. I love it!

I am a Daggett from Missouri.. thank you for posting I find this interesting!
My great grandfather built the Suwannee.
Do you happen to have any pictures? Me and my friend are currently working on a video about the boat. I already have a collection of pictures but if you had some it would be awesome.
I LOVE IT!!!
nice
Taxation without representation! The colonists defended their own interests over those prioritized by the Crown. We must do something to secure those very liberties now in 2022!
that's a harrowing experience
Used to get better furrows with the horses reins tied behind my shoulders
One of the saddest songs I know. Beautifully played! Great sounding instrument (includes musician!). Yes, wonderful version.
Thank you, Ken. Gracie sounds amazing, the years fly by, and this was a beautiful day at work!
Pretty sure that behavior wouldn't fly.
The good news is the Central Eastern Market at Greenfield Village (circa 1860s) will be open to the public on April 16, 2022. The bad news is Giddings Family House (circa 1750s) will be no longer open to the public, just like George Matthew Adams Home, next to John Chapman (Henry Ford’s favorite teacher) House at Porches & Parlors at Greenfield Village due to lack of fundings.

Give her back to him toes under wears!
She wolf's wearing his clothes again!
This is the best demonstration and explanation of how spinning is done that I have seen so far that is understandable by children. I showed this to my fourth grade Alabama History class when we studied the pioneers of Alabama (I know the states are different, but I imagine the spinning and surrounding circumstances would be the same). I definitely recommend this for a class. Kudos to this very informative and likeable presenter!
Oh the screech factor.!!!
Damn
nice job. i tann as well. you did well.
I love This video! Really gives you a taste of the Suwanee and Suwanee park.
I miss seeing blackboards so nice to see this, they don't have blackboards in classrooms anymore;I wish I could have gone to a school like this
Lovely version! Well played! if only the damn Colonials would pipe down and listen!
Wow! Learned so much. Very interesting😊 thank you for the video
I want to thank you for this. I am doing a perspective drawing of a colonial kitchen, and this is just perfect at helping me understand how it was
Beautiful. I like that you turned the lights down :). Helps us see the tree by itself
Rickett's Hornpipe is playing at the start of the video. The second tune gets cut off, but is Fisher's Hornpipe.
are those flaming candles or electric bulb candles?
The lights are moving and flickering. Definitely real
When I was a little girl in the 90s, my grandmother used to take me multiple times a week to feed the ducks at that very spot. We would watch the steamboat go by, get some popcorn, and ride the train. I spent SO MANY summers there..... Seeing this footage from the same spot, in the same moment in time... very special. I kept thinking I could hear the voice of my grandma in the chatter in the background! Thanks so much for bringing back these memories.
Absolutely beautiful!
The kid covering his ears though.
Yeah he's right next to the drums dummy no shit he's covering his ears
@@MelonMafia1 Lol, that was me as a little kid at Civil War reenactments. I was completely in awe but still plugged my ears because the gunfire made my 7 year old self terrified as well as fascinated
