    This looks really awesome! I thinks it’s genius how there are fewer parts, an easier barrel swap procedure, select fire, and awesome ballistics. However I do have a concern regarding the sliding feed tray. I was never in the service, but isn’t there a high chance that the slots for the feed tray to slide on could get bunked up and jam when trying to install a new ammo belt?

    it resembles a MG34. probably has a similar locking mec. recoil locking lugs or rotating bolt. but in a bad ass cartridge like 338norma. my question is barrel life and how many rounds it takes to over heat. your burning close to 100 grains of powder every shot.

    IDK why they didnt incorperate the same barrel change method as the mg42. Anyone know why they went with this method over what seems a better way to go? I mean if your changing barrels would it be best to do it without having to break the firing position?

    • @QuinnV100
      @QuinnV100 10 місяців тому

      @@jonnycoathanger8399 this would seem like a step backwards. If you are in a fire fight and have to do a barrel change you have to pull the weapon out of firing position to get infront of it to change the barrel rather than being able to change the barrel while the gun is still in positon from the rear. This would seem highly disadventageous from low cover or limited mobility or if you are trying to keep a low profile. Only thing i could think of is the recoil system.

    • @nathansherman5640

      @@gunguru7020 I'm curious too. Since the top cover sildes out to accommodate longer optics I imagine there's probably going to be some kind of mounting system that either cantilevers the clip ons forward, or backward from the handguard area, and you'd load from the slid out top cover.

    Will this be a weapon for Tier One and Two Special Forces Units, maybe Tier Three SF Units, in the US Forces and maybe some Nato SF Units?
    Or will you see this Weapon purchase, for Airbrone, Light Infantry and Marines Regular Units, or similar Reservist Units too?
    Has a replacement for the standard issued, Nato 7.62 x 51mm General Purpose Machine Gun.
    Or replacement for Nato 5.56 x 45mm Light Machine Gun / Squad Automatic Weapon, within all Infantry Units.
    Though this weapon appear to be the next generation in GPMG's or LMG's / SAW's, or an upgraded version as even a future replacement for present day 12.7 x mm Heavy Machine Guns (HMG's) too.
    If this weapon can be offered in multiple interchangeable calibre barrels and loading plus breach mechanisms too.
    Though military 6.8mm and .388 calibres, do seem to be the future standard Western military rounds, if the American are anything to go by.
    Though the .388 calibre sniper round, does appear, to becoming the go to calibre round.
    So standardising on .388 calibre round, for GPMP's, or even for LMG's / SAW's maybe too, is the way to go.
    Ither giving three or four person Fire Teams, heavier fire power support in the field.
    Or giving a pair of these. 388 Lightweight GPMG's, to seven or eight person Infantry Sections, increasing their fire power considerably too!
    Which could give an Infantry Platoon, between six to eight of these .388 calibre Lightweight GPMG's, providing heavy defensive fire power.
    Let alone increased Offensive fire power, in the process too. Or giving the likes of Infantry Companies, maybe 30 to 40 of these .388 calibre Lightweight GPMG's too.
    Or an whole Infantry Battalion, having 150 to 200 of these .388 Lightweight GPMG's.
    Would give future Infantry Battalions, not only increased heavier fire power, to defend a large area on the front lines.
    That is for defensive operations, without the need to depend of the fire power of supporting Armoured Infantry Wheeled or Tracked Vehicles.
    It would give demountable highly mobile and Light Infantry units, very much increase heavier fire power, in offensive operations.
    Without relying again on the support of either Armoured Infantry Wheeled or Tracked Vehicles, or even Light, Medium and/or Heavy Tanks support to especially in built up areas!
    Though this will be an excellent Special Forces Lightweight GPMG, with much more fire power, that is over both 7.62mm and 5.56mm calibre rounds too.

    Definitely looks a lot better than that fugly sig 338. The fact that it can be carried in a pack should make sig shit their pants. This gun could really change the game. Even on an infantry level. The Marine Corps is becoming a fast-moving force. There is nothing about an m240 that screams fast. But the m240 is reliable when properly maintained. But because this gun has roughly 35% fewer parts. It's theoretically more reliable. Although this gun is slightly heavier than Sig 338. And slightly lighter than the m240. The design is a lot less cumbersome than the m240 or sig 338.

    • @stuffffuts3480
      @stuffffuts3480 9 місяців тому +1

      Honestly, with the way the Marine Corps is currently handling their "machine gunner" role (basically a quirked up, faster shooting designated marksman with their M27), I think an accurate medium caliber machine gun like the REAPR would definitely fit that doctrine.
      Now if only they were more open to adopting the 338 round, I mean who doesn't like a bigger crayon.

    This weapon at reasonable price (with light composite cased ammo), could be purchased in tens of thousands by Indian Army to fight Chinese aggression at the highest Himalayan mountain borders. In fact, India could purchase as many as 100,000 of these machine guns, if priced really reasonable.

    • @Kelly-ju1kw
      @Kelly-ju1kw 9 місяців тому

      You don't speak for India

    • @anonymousfellowindian
      @anonymousfellowindian 9 місяців тому

      @@Kelly-ju1kw In case you are not aware, India every year consistently is the highest importer of armaments in the world. Saudi Arabia, Japan etc come much below India in arms import. Example - India recently purchased 150,000 SIG 716Gen2 Petrol rifles from USA. As well as 16,500 Negev 7 machine guns from Israel an year ago. All for Indian mountain divisions in Himalayas - India has 10 mountain divisions of 18,000 soldiers each, who are especially trained to climb mountains and fight and survive in mountains. In mountain warfare, such longer range machine gun using 338 bullet would be useful to the Indian army to defend against Chinese aggression in Indo China war, which can happen any time. India has purchased 16,500 Negev 7, but there was projected requirement of atleast 60,000 more machine guns for Indian army, and then there are several hundreds thousand troops called BSF who are constantly sitting year round on borders, then Navy, Air Force commandos etc. India has standing combined troops (leaving aside police force) of 25,00,000. So, purchasing effective 338 machine gun in large numbers is quite realistic for India.

    • @anonymousfellowindian
      @anonymousfellowindian 4 місяці тому

      @@Kelly-ju1kw1,45,000 SIG 716 G2 purchased by Indian Army. Why? Because there is real possibility of India China war along Himalayan Indo Tibet border running into couple thousand kms. India is buying defence equipment like crazy after brief border clashes with China recently in which dozens of troops died, and this was first clash after almost 60 years of peaceful Indo Tibet border.

  • @Kelly-ju1kw

    This is a mix between a machinegun and a sniper rifle. Hes talking about using this rifle at 1600 meters with a 9x scope...how realistic is that unless youre taking single shots? At that distance, yourr better off using something different. Its meant to be fired in full auto....how realistic is thst with a 6x scope?
