Chips Pal, that made my mouth water. The troublesome cleaning aspect is the heating elements when crumbs fall onto them, bit tricky to clean. As i'm sure you've found out, the magnetic trays work when you open the door and the tray pops out a bit via magnetic pull for easy access. Fantastic new toy though and energy efficient too compared to a main oven👍
You will enjoy this addition, had mine coming up to 4 years and use it every single day. I got the black version which seems easier to clean Steam does come from the door, as I recall that’s why it shouldn’t really be under a cabinet, easy enough to wipe away any drips Not much you can’t cook in it, only use my main oven for the bigger joints now. Roasting bags can help a lot avoiding the splashes if your roasting chicken for example Usually do bacon on a tray Cooked beef in it today, it roasts up to 2 hours The thing I like the most you can set the time and walk away, no more forgetting I had something in the oven I’m sure you will enjoy it, lots to experiment with. Best kitchen appliance I ever bought, can cook anything you can fit in. Enjoy x
Quick tip that works very well for roast spuds especially, boil the spuds for about 10 mins with the skins on, leave to coolin the water, just be careful that they don't mush, the skins will just slipof and the spuds won't absorb loads of water so you get a much fluffier spud
That salt and pepper seasoning I sent you works well with chips in my Sage combi oven with an air fryer function. They do take a bit of getting used to though.
These are amazing, I had one, used it all the time for about 4 years & it eventually died, bought another one again straight away - never use my proper AEG (except for the hobs) - brilliant & nice vid (might have to try using some of your cooking tips)
Soak your chips before cooking in cold water for about an hour before cooking, it takes all the starch out of the potatoes, so you get crispy chips on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside.
personally I would always spray of shake on vinegar first before the salt as that way the salt sticks better , but keep up the good work with the vids m8 i got a ninja myself after watching you're earlier vids. lol
I really want some home made chips now but, I have some veggies to use up, I'm making a veg curry tonight. Really loving this sage series, can't wait for more content on it, I might have to purchase it.
If all these new super duper gadgets keep being invented we’ll all need another kitchen dedicated especially for all of them, id love a new house with a traditional kitchen and a gadgetised kitchen 😂
Air Fryers are just rebranded convection ovens which are smaller. If you want to cook a small amount of food they are useful because they use less energy because they are not heating a big space up. Once you scale an air fryer up to the same size as a normal convection over, its simply a convection oven, same as what most people already have
I have the Same Smart oven only mine is branded Breville. I have had it a year now and I have not used my big oven since. It will bake three loaves of bread, cook a large pizza, roast a whole chicken or pork/beef roast. It does a great job good air frying. I use it pretty much daily.

Have a think about it 🤔 We all make have to learn a skill. Gareth doesn't boast about being a cook, but he can and he does because he wants to.

Great new bit of kit that, Gareth. Very smart. But, hasn't the Old Air Fryer also done you proud. Those Chips looked so good ! Great video yet again, thank you as always ..... 👏😉👍👌
If you're behind the times then I must still be stuck in the past. I have none of these fancy things lol I treated myself to a tassimo hot drinks machine a few years back. Not used it in yonks!. I'm content using a toaster, oven & microwave 😂 I do enjoy watching you with all this modern technology though 👌🏼
When my underbench main oven cashed in its chips I replaced it with a new one that included an air fryer function. The oven works wonderfully but I can't bring myself to get that lovely air fryer basket/tray dirty so I haven't used it (18 months later). I might try it out tomorrow but I know I'll look in the cupboard and see that pretty, shiny basket and end up grilling them on the good old baking sheet. A little bicarb in the cooking water can help with the crispiness of the end product by the way - not too much, just a level teaspoon helps.
I've hosted Christmas dinner parties for 4, even 6, with the Sage oven + a microwave. It takes a bit of planning, but the top acting as a plate warmer helps enormously.
i have a similar oven /air fryer and use a cylinder they supplied on the rotisserie for a good (not as good as deep fried) chip that gets tumbled and it seems to be better then the tray mthod
Move over Ninja. There's a New Gun in town. 'Sage' Gareth your rangehood fan sounds like the engine room of a Harbour Tug! Mine sounds like the 9:15 am express to Bristol. Good on you for reading the instruction manual. A wealth of information isn't it! Internal Cleaning. Is best done as soon as it's cool enough to do so using grease cutting wipes and then a damp cloth wipe over. Mine too has the preheat function, so anything you have to cook further is subject to a quick preheat. Chips were done nicely 👍 Next step, bake something like cheese and bacon muffins. Thanks for the new toy demo. Cheers Gareth 👍😀🤤
I have this oven and you should turn the tray around half way through cooking for the chips to cook evenly and you are right they always need a few minutes more
Does the guidance REQUIRE that you parboil the chips or is that just a personal preference? I ask because I don't bother when I do my homemade oven chips in my conventional oven.
When on the toast setting, the number 4 at the bottom is the number of slices of bread. You can change that and it heats up the right amount for however many slices you're doing 🙂
Hmmm, looks like a good machine, can you compare it to the Ninja? I have a Ninja 14 in 1 but am looking for another wee oveny grilly thing and would love to see which works better and also I am interested to see how hard it is to keep clean.

Thanks for the video i like the oven and may get one, but what really caught my interest was the saxa spray bottle. Afew of those with different flavoured contents interests me no end of flavour experiments to torture the kids with.
