A good experiment and it wasn't pointless. You've learned the Sage isn't very good for bacon. I do mine in the air fryer. 4 mins one side then turn it over then do another 3 mins. I do like it fried but it's a lot easier to clean the air fryer than to clean the hob, splash back and cooker hood.
Good video. Thank you. When I used to eat bacon, I used a standard cooker grill, mostly. I’m not rigidly opposed to new appliances, but many are poor substitutes for a conventional oven, grill, hob, or barbecue. While I’m here, there are so many variables, including the processing of the meats. The bulking, with brining etc etc. Obvious when frying, when that white gelatinous residue lines the edges (yuk!)
Cook the bacon in the SAGE on the baking tray, with foil in. Preheat the oven and cook at 180C Fan, on roast setting and it will cook perfectly. The time is a matter of preference to get it as crispy as you wish.
Tip for cleaning the ninja airfry rack. Place the rack in the pot with enough water to cover the rack's wire bars and add the juice of half a Lemon. Bring to the boil then turn off. Place the pressure cooker lid on and and leave for half an hour. The built up grease will soften enough to be removed with a dish brush.
So glad the Frying Pan came out tops. It surely is the ONLY way to cook bacon. Also, as you said, crack the eggs in the same pan, having done the sausages first.

I didn't think covering up the bottom elements in the sage was a problem as you still have the top elements, plus the fan moving the air - just like a normal air fryer or even a grill. I'd put a tray under personally as without will discolour the oven and be a pain to clean in no time.... might smoke too. Treat them as you would chicken wings.

Hi Gareth. Love your vlogs even though I’m in the US but have family back home in Scotland so have a list of things to try next time I’m home. I have the Instant Vortex air fryer and love it. Great for baking pork tenderloin, salmon filets, air fryer breaded fish filets, etc. and makes the best baked potatoes in half the time of an oven. I'm going to cook the same kind of bacon in my combi microwave/oven/grill and take photos before during and after, with the time it takes to get crispy 🥓 to compare with your experiment. I haven't got an air fryer anyway. I'll be using a microwave cover over the food so no splatters...but not with the grill on. Be back with results tomorrow after buying the bacon 😋😁
I put oven racks in a black rubbish hag with a cup of household ammonia . Seal the top with a rubber band, shake gently and leave outside overnight. The next day, open carefully, take the rack out and wash in hot soapy water. The black on any tray will brush off or scour easily. The ammonia can be poured into the outside sink gully . This method would work with your slow cooker rack.
I do bacon and sausages in mine, it's good but I would rather fry , I use liners and baking paper in mine, you can scrub the racks and trays but these type of ovens just are a magnet for splashes!
Use water out of a boiling kettle on your ninja and put the wire rack in and drop a dishwasher tablet in.. It works mint... Gets the grease off really 👍
I just use my air fryer for everything these days but mines oval ,ive got a square one , but ive hardly used it , but i think its for rotary chicken ,joints and stuff ,use whats best for you ,all appliances need a good clean , can you imagine the fat we used to eat ,clog all your arteries 👍👍
I think streaky bacon might've been a better bet than middle back - no thick areas of flesh, and an even spread of fat throughout the bacon. I always wash grill pans, trays etc from the oven by hand - the dishwasher never gets them properly clean. Plus I can use a wire wool pad (not a brillo pad), as someone has already mentioned, for extra sparkle. Useful experiment tho' 👍👍👍
The best bacon in the whole wide world is a hand rolled Scottish (non EU water injected) bacon called "Ayrshire Middle". You will never buy any other bacon ever again in your entire life.
Hi I use wire wool on my cooker and ninja cooker for the wire areas you don't want to be cooking with fat build up on the wire parts only takes a few minutes good show 🎉🎉🎉
The Sage is absolutely no good for cooking bacon on Airfry and why would you running the risk of mess over the elements. As I've said commenting on a previous vid, the whole idea of Air frying is saving time and energy costs, where the Sage without a doubt fails over the ninja, as the ninja would cook the bacon quicker and from a cold start . As you have said a complete "Pointless execise" ! One tip which I think someone has commented is to clean after every use on both appliances .
I have an instant pot duo crisp. which does just about everything. although not everything perfect.. and it gets very dirty ...baked on.. and I clean it all the time. the first couple months great then the sh.. dirt started building up and it wont come off. Now this appliance does loads of things really well and fast. but its like everything else you find yourself going back to the oven or the pan (Bacon). the best thing for cleaning was My (which I dont use much) Halogen oven.. like a great big bowl fish bowl.. dead easy to clean...and fast to... do a whole roast no prob.. anyway. Bacon is best done in a pan. In my opinion. good one Gagga.
I have a cheap 1.5 litre air fryer and it says don't cook things like bacon and sausage in it. I'm presuming it's for the fat spitting up on to the electric ring above. I agree, I'm not a fan of microwaved bacon, flat or griddle pan for me. Thank you for the experiment 😀👍
Forget about frying bacon on the stovetop or baking it in the oven - air fryers are where it's at! Not only is it a healthier option with less oil needed, but it's also super convenient for those busy mornings when you need to multi-task. Plus, it produces perfectly crispy bacon every time without any burnt or soggy bits. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you for using an air fryer to cook your bacon. So go ahead, join the air fryer bacon revolution - your breakfast will never be the same again!

Sounds great!
*Very interesting comparison Bald Foodie Guy 👌👌👌🙌👏🏻*
I do like look on the both, but everyone is different on preferences
Cheers Glenda
I ❤ my NINJA spot on 👍😁
TIP, For cleaning racks give them a blast with a blow lamp then use a wire pad. SIMPLES
Do you put your ninja stuff in the dishwasher?
Yes Nick
Use water out of a boiling kettle on your ninja and put the wire rack in and drop a dishwasher tablet in.. It works mint... Gets the grease off really 👍
Yes well do that Billy cheers
I just use my air fryer for everything these days but mines oval ,ive got a square one , but ive hardly used it , but i think its for rotary chicken ,joints and stuff ,use whats best for you ,all appliances need a good clean , can you imagine the fat we used to eat ,clog all your arteries 👍👍
Yes good point
I think streaky bacon might've been a better bet than middle back - no thick areas of flesh, and an even spread of fat throughout the bacon. I always wash grill pans, trays etc from the oven by hand - the dishwasher never gets them properly clean. Plus I can use a wire wool pad (not a brillo pad), as someone has already mentioned, for extra sparkle. Useful experiment tho' 👍👍👍
Cheers yes good idea, next time.
The best bacon in the whole wide world is a hand rolled Scottish (non EU water injected) bacon called "Ayrshire Middle".
You will never buy any other bacon ever again in your entire life.
The experiment is a good one, I do not have an airfryer so this is very useful for me. I have a small counter top convection mini oven.
Use your frying pan easier to clean you've got the splatter guard
Yes definitely one pan does the lot.
Hi I use wire wool on my cooker and ninja cooker for the wire areas you don't want to be cooking with fat build up on the wire parts only takes a few minutes good show 🎉🎉🎉
Couldn't you use the roasting pan on the bottom level to catch the drippings and put the basket one level higher?
Yes could try
Cheers Michael thanks 😊
That may cause a fire, I would use the Table top oven......on a solid no holes to cook it.
Dear Gareth ,entertaining as your presentation was ,, l am afraid you havnt got the electrical kitchen ware job on the shopping channel lol 😊x
😄😄😄 made me smile .. thank you
My pleasure 😊
Forget about frying bacon on the stovetop or baking it in the oven - air fryers are where it's at! Not only is it a healthier option with less oil needed, but it's also super convenient for those busy mornings when you need to multi-task. Plus, it produces perfectly crispy bacon every time without any burnt or soggy bits. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you for using an air fryer to cook your bacon. So go ahead, join the air fryer bacon revolution - your breakfast will never be the same again!
Cheers pal
how do you cook your bacon, wen gareths machine cant "support" drippy cooking?
I cook my bacon in my health grill nice crispy 👌.great video gareth 😊x
Yum, love bacon 🥓
Not watched all the way through yet but am curious to see how this turns out. But I prefer mine grilled.
That lamp shade makes you look like the Saint😂
Haha I ain't no Saint lol
