Centipedes.. don’t they give you the chills?
Today we’ll be rehousing 3 Cherry Red Centipedes from glass to shoebox enclosures. Why, you ask? I had a few others who somehow managed to make their escape from their glass enclosures. Don’t ask me how - They just managed to. Hopefully they won’t be able to pull a Houdini in these shoe boxes!

We used to keep centipedes at a previous job I had. The trick to rehousing was food, cold and light. We used to give them a big feed the day before, then put them somewhere very cold to slow them down and then move them using a non see through container - if you shine a bright light on them they’ll usually go looking for a dark spot and then you can just pick it up and move it to the new enclosure.
It’s so funny when he get stressed and then laughs about it after 😂
they’re getting thru the slits in the lid, and centipedes need a proper amount of substrate and a hide, not woodchips. they’re burrowers and can’t burrow in that substrate, and they need a place to hide. it’s also advisable that you get them a taller enclosure because they’re able to escape almost anything.
I felt the stress of this on a cosmic level. Terrifying!

This is why i ceep warm water fish, like guppies, neons and platy's. But i have started with Axolotls again. I love Them so must. They like little waterdragons.👋

I like spiders, but just can't warm up to centipedes. Occasionally, one is scurrying on my kitchen floor early in the morning, cannot grab it, trap it and rehouse it like I can a spider, so I use my vaccum hose.
Use "Seal & Peel" to fill the gaps between shelves & your wall that way if anything escapes it can't get behind it. It is easy to remove, it is made to peel off (hence the name) so it's not permanent.

Hey I have a Curly hair and I got it when it was just a baby and I did get it at a show they put it as a girl but I knew "she" was too smolle to tall so I just blow it off but now it molted one time and a week or so my dad trid to hold it and any movement that the spider feels it will bolt the outer way and after my dad trid to hold my spider won't eat I give it millwarms(Dead with the head cut off or alive) and today I toke the tuges and got a millwarm and trid to tuge feed my spider, it didn't do a threat poster it just walk away and I don't know what is happening plz help.

I think you need to invest in a good tripod so you can have both hands free when you're handling your pets... hehe what do you think?

You need to research their habitat mate, they are a subtropical invert and you have them on bloody bark. They need a hide and actual dirt to borrow into. Please change out their set up and make it better for the animal.

Centipedes are absolutley horrifying! They are fast, strong and some have a venom that is not to fool around with.
I used to step at centipedes when i was 7 years old
Our house is ridden with centipedes and I step on juvenile centipedes all the time. Barefoot. Millipedes on the other hand, I never step because they smell. Surprisingly, centipedes don't bite even if they crawl up your feet as long as you don't threaten it

@@axel_axolotl9821 Its really hard. You need to drown them first so they will lose their consciousness and then gender them through their tail. Ive done this many times. The females are always bigger than the males. ANd males have like a thickening like structure in the tail. Be careful if it wakes up :)

Yeah it is impressive but sometimes he makes more trouble for himself. There’s nothing wrong with putting down a camera to make sure an animal doesn’t escape. It’s both dangerous for the animal and sort of dangerous for him as some bites of the creatures he has hurt a lot. Nobody would complain if he put down the camera to catch the animals that get loose. He just. Frustratingly makes problems for himself. I like his videos but the ones where he’s dealing with flighty creatures and refuses to put down the camera for one second and ends up causing trouble I can hardly watch.

You shouldn't handle this kind of dangerous creatures with just one hand for the sake of the video. I mean, he is super expert obv, but it's kinda like he is showing a wrong and not safe way to deal with those animals. Kinda like a bad example, right? On the other hand, if he just start to put down the camera maybe a lot of people would complain that "we can't clearly see the animals duh"... so I don't really know... maybe he should buy some tripod or easel on which to place the camera... we may lose the close-ups yes, but we would have some good overview while he would finally stop this "treating dangerous creatures with just one hand challenge"

I am absolutely amazed at how calm he seemed when telling us that 4 of his centipedes escaped. I'm over here looking at the background trying to find them and praying and hopping that he at least has some shoes on. I thought he was crazy when I saw that he had Scorpions. But now I know that he is just pure insane after this. I was literally squishy and freaking out every time them things got close to his hand. Now my skin is crawling.

Your Centipede husbandry is terrible. Not enough substrate,wrong substrate which is dry and they have nowhere to hide. No wonder they escaped.

I wonder is possible for them to get though the slots on top of the lids as centipede might be able to squeeze themselves small gaps as the slots on wooden top have, so if you thinking of getting something like them or something else it might be a idea to put small wire mesh inside the lids to stop the escaping
As one of my fav youtube keepers says, centipedes are escape artists. Maybe you should also rehouse them in taller enclosures like Schizo-Pelma TV

Holy crap! How can you keep them in such low enclosures? I wouldn't be sleeping at night, man. Look away for a split second and they're up over the edge and halfway across the room before you can blink. I kept a huge 10" Scolopendra Crudelis in a 20 gal tall terrarium and it still made me nervous.

Anyone that has inverts escape probably shouldn't keep them, I've been keeping inverts of all shapes and sizes for over 20 years and never had one escape.

The thing he doesn’t know is that the lost centipedes had evaded him and hid beneath the soil.
There plan was to free their comrades who had failed to escape but to their woe the scorpions had been stacked and the prison break was a fail.

I have no issues with any creature I’ve ever encountered ...I mean, you’ve gotta respect bears, cougars, moose etc. because they will kill you otherwise lol but there is something broken in my brain where NORMAL sized centipedes make me lose my damn mind... Man, with all honesty and all due respect, if I knew I had you as a neighbor, I would move. The thought of a neighbor with dozens of tarantulas and giant centipedes and the possibility they would escape would be enough to keep me up at night.

Ah yes the crazy devils of nature I still don't understand why some people keep them as pets they are really dangerous and their bite is worse than some snakes I saw an other youtuber try its bite and he said it was his worst bite ever and he also said that he got bit by a Lotta other things soo I can just imagine how painful it is and he was aware when he got bit imagine being unaware and then getting bitten... That will not be fun
They are fun to keep. Also, the UA-cam you referred to is Coyote Peterson, who almost certainly overreacted to his bite. And bites are very easy to avoid.
