Not here to “demonize” this tarantula, but it is in fact, one that posses venom of high potency. I was told it was one of the most (if not THE MOST) dangerous tarantula species in the hobby - Stromatopelma calceatum (Feather Legged Baboon). I'm not lying about it putting a fellow subscriber of mine in the hospital. Not this individual, of course.. but his own. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but he got bitten and was admitted to the hospital. He has been discharged. Note that so far (from what I know), there hasn’t been any recorded deaths from a tarantula bite, however, there are species like this that we should take extra care when dealing-with in the hobby.

before i got into the hobby, i worked in an exotic pet shop owned by people who knew nothing about the difference between OW & NW tarantulas. we had a feather legged baboon in the shop. one day, some guy came in and wanted to see it up close. the owner took it out of the tank, put it on my arm, & left me alone with the customer. i had no idea at the time how dangerous it was but now thinking about it gives me chills 😳😳😳

You give me so much confidence! When I unboxed my pumpkin patch sling and he crawled up my feeding tongs instead of going into his enclosure, I didn’t freak out too much! Just tried to laugh and managed to get her in safetly. Watching how you handle, unbox and house is fantastic content for beginners!!

@@PerriElias He could miss one and they can hang on after wards then hurt his T’s. Microwave kills them with the heat it produces since ants are ectotherms.
I would have just washed the branches to get rid off ants...microwaving them is soo brutal..they probably explode 😭

That dangerous one I had as MY FIRST tarantula, mine was calm though, but only to me? If any other people went in it would posture you but if I went in it cooperated, pretty weird. And yes I did hold it.

Moving Tarantulas to a new Enclosure is like moving dangerous Criminals to new Prison Cells.
I know they were well packed because shipping can be rough, but I still flinched every time you pounded the box before opening it up. Personifying the spiders and assuming they were going to be even more ready to throw down when you're transferring them. Luckily they had more than enough time to forgive you while you were building their temporary homes. Another fun video.

Hey, if you’re finding poop on your floor like that you may have a mouse/rat problem. Small mice can def crawl through the small gap at the bottom of the door, so I’d recommend putting a tight seal on it...
Or capture it because well some tarantulas do have the need for living prey
@@tommycriton9758 giving wild mice to tarantulas can be problematic as you dont know if the mouse has any parasites and can pass those on to the tarantula

I used to have about 30 tarantulas in my video game software studio. They got us great free publicity and the nastiest one was probably a large African Baboon. It would rear up and hiss at the slightest disturbance. Your spiders remind me of my collection back in the day.
