I'd insulate the floor and ceiling in the breezeway and add folding glass doors for winter use and general safety when moving between one half of the home and the other in the night.
It's so cool to see young adults striking out and using their skills to build tiny homes while also getting involved with the industry, coding and insurance issues, etc. I think the tiny home movement will only continue to grow and refine!

I also like this tiny has space for a full washer and dryer. When I get my tiny home, I'd like to continue using what I already have such as my washer and dryer. I wonder how stable this is when transporting. Nice to see the middle part can be modified. Having the bedroom separated from the kitchen/living room is another plus for me. What an exciting place your in--happy researching & planning! We total agree about the people first; that's a big part about what makes Wind River such a wonderful building company. So grateful that they're helping to lead the way for the industry & movement
I am also a sculptor so spatial design is my happy place hence renovating 8 homes. This is exactly what I see as previously missing, a separation of space using nature/light as a wall & perfect extra high ceiling & kitchen placement with choice of butcher block multiple use table create a sense of open
Beautiful home! I see the possibility also of putting garage type doors on both sides to open and close seasonally or depending on weather conditions. I'm so happy for you and your family and many blessings to you both.
Novel idea. But would only work in an area with year round mild weather conditions. Can’t imagine having to run to the bathroom in a rain/wind/ snow storm… 😳
Fair point! Someone in comments had an idea of adding a little insulation and glass doors-maybe the folding kind. That could turn this space into a cool sunroom and make crossing through better when there’s wet weather 😄
I would put the open porch on one end. This is clearly designed for warmer weather zones, but who wants to go outside to get to the bathroom if they are in the living room. Not efficient opening, closing doors to get to the other living area. In terms of style, it is fine. It is nice and clean for people to personalize.
A few ideas: If you want to make it more for full time living, add more kitchen cabinets and counter space on that open wall. As is, it’s better as a weekend getaway or vacation home. Also screen in the porch, and always more closet and storage space. But this is very creative and appears really well made.
Since it's a park model I'd rather have that center section enclosed as part of the living room and heated in order to expand the kitchen, then put outdoor lounging in the front. Where I live I couldn't imagine having to make a mad dash across that opening in the winter when I needed to use the bathroom or go to bed or check on the laundry.
Laundry could wait, but not the bathroom break. Can you imagine? We've had six weeks of solid rain here one wet season; we'd be covered in fungus from being wet all the time. Saw some guy in China somewhere, building into a cliff face; he dug out everything; amazing job I was thinking; yet his KITCHEN was outside. Yes, it had a solid overhang and a deep front counter/storage area providing some frontal shelter. But no way would he be getting dinner from me, standing in gale force winds trying to cook, up to my ankles in mud. Sorry buddy, no marriage for you. Make your own.
This was a really interesting video. I love this design, and as an artist wanting studio space, I can see how it could be a very flexible design. I love that Travis is expanding into modular design and looking at the ideas of helping grow pocket neighbourhoods, etc. He is so right that governments are not really looking at what people want for their living spaces. But most of all, folks just want to be able to afford owning their own homes, and certainly tiny houses, modular homes and smaller homes are where we need to begin! I think I've mentioned before how life-changing my Jackery is! Where I live we have frequent power outages and having one is a life-changer! They are really designed to be plug-and-play. So easy to use and to hook up the Jackery solar panel I got with mine too. It's like a power-generator for dummies!
I think one of the biggest things about tiny houses (you know the name itself is “tiny”) is maximising utility for each space. I might be going against the grain here but using the mid area as deck is just odd to me, here’s why: - deck is probably one of the easiest “take with you” modifications that you can put together as extension to the house from what I have seen in 100s and 100s of tiny houses I have seen over the years - assuming you don’t want the hassle of stowaway deck because you move around a lot, this design isn’t exactly frequent mobile type So that leaves this design restricted to the few who want a parked tiny house AND don’t want to build a deck. The deck space could have been utilized so easily for many other things while still having the deck option outside which is actually often what people want deck for. I can definitely appreciate the uniqueness of the design, not hating, and kudos to the makers for being experimental. Personally this kind of design is a nope for me.
I’d love to see tiny home manufacturers offer options to add on to their tiny homes easier. I.e. I thought this was 2 tiny homes made into 1 with that porch. It’d be a nice option for growing families or financially pinched now but want a bigger home in the future.
sorry folks not much about this design works for me - could be because I’m in four seasons and made too many trips to outhouse as a kid - don’t need to be going outside to get to any part of a tiny at this stage of my life - I’m a young senior with disabling health concerns - would rather have smaller more conventional all in one design 🇨🇦🙏
Nice. Imagine if you opened both sides doors and they could lock in place to create big glass French doors with inclosed space in the middle..and able to open at least one side to the outside aswell?
I like the separation but probably would cost too much to add the storage in the kitchen i would want and get rid of the loft, then screen/glass door the integrated patio. But the clean lines i appreciate.
❤I love this but I would keep this but I would put a in closed glass, and have a lot of plants there. Also could a bathroom be but in the living room, kitchen area because I would not guest on the other side. Kitchen could be kitty cornered and that way a bathroom could be in the other corner. Now the loft could go all the way across the master bedroom in my book I’m short. Other then that I love it, I’m going to have to check out what you have I already told my children this is what I want instead of living in one of there houses. 🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾
GREAT IDEA TO ENCLOSE WITH GLASS. … just maybe have screen option also as we do in our sunroom which is three season(!) but we have a gas stove pipe style fireplace in there too which is incredibly nice( makes it nearly 4 season Colorado except for about three weeks and a few scattered frigid days) There is also a broken mini split that is heat and ac. Mistake to not have the ac in there this last summer! Love your idea of the BR in the kitty corner kitchen, main area too. It’s definitely an option they should explore with this.
Adorable, I think a water closet in the side with the living room space would be great for company, also drawers instead of a ladder with storage in the bedroom area would be great.
Nice place. And to afford it you just have to sell your traditional home at top dollar and maybe have enough to almost pay for the tiny home. Lol 😂 If they were priced sanely they would make sense. Since they aren't, just buy traditioanl and gain equity.
I like the porch area but there is no coziness to either house section. Also depending on the climate/weather it might be very impractical when needing to use the bathroom but working in the kitchen or relaxing in the livingroom. What if there was a terrible rain storm or snow storm with high winds? Couldn't a quarter bath be added somewhere in the kitchen/livingroom space. I don't see this home as being practical. Sorry.😒
it would be ~fantastic~ where i live in the desert where we rarely, if ever, get snow. and I'm sure the builder would customize it for you with a quarter bath in the kitchen side. as far as coziness, the buyer can add that to this clean pallette. for me, i would like this way better if the longer sides of the two structures were side by side, with a much larger 'porch' area in between, because then i would be able to orient it to get max shade on the porch. but that wouldn't fit neatly on a 8.5 foot wide trailer. lots of good ideas tho.
I like this layout , if you made a sunporch with glass doors that fold all the way back into the wall . You could put in small fireplace on one wall . Also to save space use a tankless water heater with copper piping . . The layout way it is wouldn't work if you lived where it snows . I think island in kitchen would be great too for more counter space and you could put more storage in island on both sides with waterfall edge and seating for 3 or 4 .
A, C I just caught this on Sunday following debut. I think your Jackery ad was awesome. I've seen other WindRiver homes, that Iike better. I agree with most of the folks about having to go outside to the bathroom: seems like we are returning to an earlier age. Having the bedroom away from the living area is okay, but not outside. 🥶🖤🔔👍🏻🥰
It needs a bathroom with the kitchen and living room too...just a toilet and sink. Also, the attached porch should be made to be hidden during travel-moving of the home.
Really nice, would utilize roll up "garage style doors" on both sides of the patio to close off during private time and security. The ladder area, a rope dumb waiter to use for storage. I love the layout, would like to place 2 on a lot for rental units along a creek lot.
Like the design and the creative idea of the dog trot! Dog trots are traditional to the South, and I think great for warmer areas. But I think for most of us from cold winter areas, hauling out even for 3 seconds in 20 below to go to the bathroom is a deal killer. Even in warmer areas, I would put accordion doors on the porch to enclose for severe storms or cooler weather. Other thought is that I like all of the windows in the main area, but I'm trying to figure out how you would add furniture, particularly some storage pieces like a coat closet -- without blocking some of the windows. It might work well for a vacation home or for a true minimalist -- but I would want spaces for more easily accessed everyday storage.
Lovely bedroom and bathroom. I'll use the washer and dryer in the kitchen. Much wasted space over there. Those windows and doors will not do in crime ridden South Africa, but this is a nice idea for a tiny home.
I have skoliosis really bad so stairs is hard for me! How much for a screen on both sides and a small heater or a fireplace of some kind? How much for the House?
This would not be feasible for us, due to cold and snowy weather for 8 to 9 months of the year. I do not want to have to go outside to go to the restroom, or to bed every night. I would incorporate it into the house as more living space and just build a deck for it.
I’ve been trying to get a hold of these people to get me a tiny home built. I want this for myself so bad by next summer but I don’t know where to start😢
WOW! Beautiful house and common sense, usable design. I've never understood galley kitchens cutting these small homes in half. Always looked space wasting.
I have lived in a Park Model for 6 years. With that said, this one is quite attractive but the lack of kitchen storage, especially a pantry, makes this one more suitable to short stays only. The lack of bath storage, no decent broom closet, would mean the loft must be utilized for storage. Also, if moving it to a rented community location, the open area would be required to have railing to comply with safety standards.
If it were me I'd make a shoe rack and pet food corner outside the kitchen side of this model....good space being wasted Oh also a hammock is miising there😊
Looks quite odd with the kitchen sink not centered under the window. I agree with folks comments that its not practical to have an open space between living/kitchen area and restroom.
The classic dogtrot house design features an open breezeway/outdoor living space in the middle with two separate living areas on either end, all under one roof. So they adapted that design for a tiny home on wheels 😎
Hmm. Somehow I was hoping that the spaciousness of the living area would carry over to the bedroom side, which felt a bit cramped. There must be some way to hide the w/d and open up that entrance where the ladder is … 🤔
So basically its a single wide mobile home with a hole in the middle? What am I missing? It seems like that center deck space could be better used as living space and a deck could be added on the outside on location.
Do you ever consider weather conditions and security/safety when configuring these tiny homes in their architectural designs? I can't say that all the varieties of UA-cam vids here or in other countries like Australia or New Zealand none of these are addressed. Been watching the growth of tiny homes for last five years. Thank you.
I love this one! But that range is not full sized😂 the pricing on these tiny homes are getting so expensive! There’s no reason they should be $300 plus a square foot! We are building a 2600 sq ft home in Southern Nevada and it’s running $150 square foot as an owner builder.
Ah..no. The breezeway is a huge waste of footprint. 1)There’s not enough Living space…sorry no guests, only two chairs(?!!).. 2) Way too little counter space. 3)Way too many windows.. A) they hinder furniture placement, B) are a huge privacy liability, C) eliminate wall space for artwork. 4) where the ladder is could be more storage & laundry 5) The loft is wasted on me, unless an elevator is installed. Besides 36” ouch!!! That’s too close. …. If you want ‘outdoor space… add a fold down deck to the back end of the house where the kitchen is and put a door in there and take back that HUGE chunk of real estate in the middle of the house.
It's beautiful, but too big for me, and the dog trot is not a good fit. I'd end up putting a portable potty on the living room side and staying there. Lol
Looks like 10 or 12 feet wide. I expect "park model" means it will get set up and rarely if ever moved. Just like old school "mobile homes" got bigger and bigger and a whole lot less mobile. History is repeating itself.
limited airflow when windows dont open. dogtrot needs folding doors each side. This dogtrot style affords no privacy between kitchen and bedroom. Wouldnt buy it. Loft access is bad and no privacy when guest loft is over bedroom.
I love the quality of this Tiny, however,on a very strong windy day, I definitely wouldn't want it, maybe one side completely glassed in porch & the opposite side screened in! I'd like to see a Tiny from this company w/o the porch in the middle!
Not very practical if you live in a cold environment. Insulated glass panels make the deck area usable year around, not just in the warm months. You should probably pick a better designer next time
Although the structure is perfect with clean design, that middle section is a No!!! Rationally thinking, it makes no sense. In the summer months, going from side to side would bring in mosquitoes and flies. In the winter and rainy season, you would get touched by the elements, just to go to the rest room. I get the idea of the concept, but don’t separate the living quarters, instead place the deck on the end. 🙏🏽

I would like to have an Island in the kitchen a full size kitchen, and an extra room off the bedroom for my sewing room and library books case!
I have skoliosis really bad so stairs is hard for me!
I have skoliosis really bad so stairs is hard for me! How much for a screen on both sides and a small heater or a fireplace of some kind? How much for the House?
Handicap rails in shower and ADA toilet?
This would not be feasible for us, due to cold and snowy weather for 8 to 9 months of the year. I do not want to have to go outside to go to the restroom, or to bed every night. I would incorporate it into the house as more living space and just build a deck for it.
Very, very reminiscent of an early south Texas home. Except a kids loft would be accessible from a ladder in the breezeway (dog trot).
So impractical. Could be a very nice home. I guess there's something for everyone.
Absolutely!
Yes, I've seen bigger kitchens in smaller tiny homes. There is hardly any counter space for prepping meals.
If it were me I'd make a shoe rack and pet food corner outside the kitchen side of this model....good space being wasted
Oh also a hammock is miising there😊
Looks quite odd with the kitchen sink not centered under the window. I agree with folks comments that its not practical to have an open space between living/kitchen area and restroom.
Alot of windows for alot of plants but cant open them. Id screen in the porch or rails to keep the dogs in.
I would love this. If you could enclose it, so I can use that dog trot as an artist studio.
Lovely. ❤
LIKE IT !
Hope all is well for you due to Hurricane Helene.
This is a beautifully executed home. But where’s the dog trot?
The classic dogtrot house design features an open breezeway/outdoor living space in the middle with two separate living areas on either end, all under one roof. So they adapted that design for a tiny home on wheels 😎
Love this Tiny House , plenty of space also I think that the middle space separates the sleeping room from the living area,❤
So you have to go out and across the porch to use the bathroom! Not for me!
No the bathroom is next to the master bath as is the laundry.
That is what they said @@diamondperidot
For 18 months I lived in a situation where the bath was 50 meters away. It wasn't as bad as I anticipated.
Do you ever consider weather conditions and security/safety when configuring these tiny homes in their architectural designs? I can't say that all the varieties of UA-cam vids here or in other countries like Australia or New Zealand none of these are addressed. Been watching the growth of tiny homes for last five years. Thank you.
Totally ❤ it! But what was the square footage?
400 sqft interior 😊
I love this one! But that range is not full sized😂 the pricing on these tiny homes are getting so expensive! There’s no reason they should be $300 plus a square foot! We are building a 2600 sq ft home in Southern Nevada and it’s running $150 square foot as an owner builder.
Running across a porch to use a bathroom would get old the first time.
Can you custom the build? like moving the open space outside part to the back, and make it more of a toy hauler?
Looks really nice. Not good for northern regions as it gets really cold
Ah..no. The breezeway is a huge waste of footprint.
1)There’s not enough Living space…sorry no guests, only two chairs(?!!)..
2) Way too little counter space.
3)Way too many windows..
A) they hinder furniture placement,
B) are a huge privacy liability,
C) eliminate wall space for artwork.
4) where the ladder is could be more storage & laundry
5) The loft is wasted on me, unless an elevator is installed. Besides 36” ouch!!! That’s too close.
….
If you want ‘outdoor space… add a fold down deck to the back end of the house where the kitchen is and put a door in there and take back that HUGE chunk of real estate in the middle of the house.
It needs to be able to enclose the porch for cold, snow, or inclement weather.
It's beautiful, but too big for me, and the dog trot is not a good fit. I'd end up putting a portable potty on the living room side and staying there. Lol
What are the interior walls made of? Panels?
I have question to asked would you donate some of these homes to hurricane Helene victims because they lost everything no one really helping them out
❤❤❤❤
This tiny home is 45' long and how wide is it? All dimensions please.
I imagine it's 8.5 wide to be street legal.
Looks like 10 or 12 feet wide. I expect "park model" means it will get set up and rarely if ever moved. Just like old school "mobile homes" got bigger and bigger and a whole lot less mobile. History is repeating itself.
Can you show a single level duplex like this? 😢
limited airflow when windows dont open. dogtrot needs folding doors each side.
Fair point! Here’s a tour of another of their beautiful tiny house models: ua-cam.com/video/z66GOD-EXh4/v-deo.htmlsi=RA9Tb9G6N8dlSwAJ
