  • I show carb hose ID and routing, MK-403 air cutoff (choke) plate. Crankcase breather hose. This is the Non-California carb. The CA carb has a hose connection under the float bowl that goes to the canister on the right side, mounted to the frame. The MK-403 plate is not a Yamaha part, it is a Mukuni Part. Look for it in aftermarket section.

    The XT225(3RW) is a simple and perfectly balanced motorcycle.
    In Japan, another name is Serow. I'm on the same XT225
    Please enjoy remodeling and renovation. I'm rooting for you.

    Your a life saver. Got a ttr that needed work. Didn't know anything about carbs and it didn't have any lines with it

    Thanks for the video man. Good timing with the upload too. Pulled my junk ebay carb off a month ago to swap for an oem mikuni that came in today

      Awesome, glad to help. Did the new carb come with the brass cap over the mixture screw?

    I was informed that the top hose vents through the hole in the frame under the tank.

    After staring at this during editing I discovered the breather hose is upside down according to the pictures and diagrams. Its routed under the carb instead of over the carb. I wonder which way would be best to slow the oil flow from the case?

    I've been tempted to buy a new carburetor and see what happens because it only makes sense to think the carb got backed up. I still have spark

      In this video I show a cap in the intake manifold. Take the cap off spray some fuel in there, install the cap and see if it fires. If it does there's a fuel problem. The fuel port for idle is the brass tube in between the main jet and pilot jet. It just picks up fuel straight from the bowl. Find a thin twist tie and push it in the tube it should go in about 1 1/2 inches. If it doesn't go in it's clogged or the twist tie is too thick. Work that twist tie in with some cleaner.

    Will that air cut off valve cause the bike not to idle. Mine cracked off on the top like yours did.

    • @Geeios1
      @Geeios1  2 роки тому +2

      Mine would idle. Might depend on your current idle speed screw or a dirty carb. It's a vacuum leak and will cause problems either way.

      Oh and there is an o-ring under the small head at the top. It's not included with the MK-403 kit, but is included in the carb rebuild kit. I recommend the Moose racing rebuild kit that includes the emulsion tube under the main jet. It's the tube the needle on the diaphragm slides up and down in.

    Needed this, the previous owner of my bike had missing lines left and right and I wasn’t sure where any of it went. Doesn’t that top vent like go into the frame right under the seat?

    • @Geeios1

      Every hose and it's connection is accounted for in the video. The top cam cover vent hose goes to the airbox as shown.

      Agree that #4 vent goes up under the tank to a hole in the side of the frame tube. It’s a vent not a drain. Running it out the bottom may introduce contaminates of dust, moisture or water if fording water. My #3 90 degree drain fitting was also broke when I bought this bike. My guess is Yamaha doesn’t sell it individually but I’m going to check. Just rebuilt my carb after purchasing. Runs like a new bike.

    I had a lot of gas in my airbox. Do you guys know why?

    • @Geeios1
      @Geeios1  Рік тому

      No, there are no connections to fuel on the air box.
      Did you mean oil?
      There is an engine breather hose connected to the box. When the piston goes up and down the air pressure it creates "breathing" flows in and out of the engine case thru the hose to the air box. The air carries a fine mist of oil with it. The oil builds up in the clean side of the air box. If there is too much oil in the engine the build up will be excessive.

      Come to think of it. If the float needle is stuck open and the bowl overflow and all of the vents are clogged, with the bike sitting on the kick stand the next lowest overflow would be the intake/airbox. But what are the chances all the vents are clogged?
