This video is pure poetry, a total antidote to one stinky aspect of motorcycle riding that's about pretense, machismo, and taking oneself way, WAY too seriously. You guys rock 100%. Long live nerds on two wheels who scream their appreciation for gorgeous nature to the top of their lungs !!!!!! And YES, I'm buying an XT225 after 30+ years of riding bikes which are too heavy for me and for the planet when you really think about it.
At 11:20, whoa were not in PNW any more. To be young and light, have fun! Maybe the XT225 is the Miata of motorcycles - small, lightweight, brings a smile to the face.
Still my favorite motorcycle journey video after seeing hundreds. This is why I ride. I'll die a two-wheel kid at heart, some day... No hurry! BTW, why this video doesn't have at least 23M views is beyond me!
One of the best adventure videos I have ever seen. You guys did it right. Much like "On Any Sunday". Simple pleasures on small bikes. I am 63 and have had over 150 bikes and think that some of the most fun have been the small ones. I did 925 miles in one day come from Portland and it sucked. Take the time to see the trees and the smell the grass. Great job guys, it made my day.
How thoroughly refreshing. You two have just made me stop looking for the next flashy motorcycle and I have resolved to fix up my old (92) serow xt 225 which is sitting in the garage and take on some of the northern Spanish trails on it. There are so many macho and boring vids out there - to see you two youngsters having so much fun from the sheer joy of life, without ego or misguided notions of 'cool' getting in the way, was great. People like you are the future - stay true - whatever life throws at you, 'cooler than cool' boys - your an inspiration and proof that generation y or z or whatever label the media wants to put on you, are not all feckless and entitled, screen time zombies. Cheers.
Thank you so much for you kind words! Part of my life philosophy is if I wait to only do things the “cool” or “best” way I’ll never really get to do a lot. Xt225s are super fun affordable and capable. Some “cool” BMW would be a barrier to entry for me. This mentality is healthier and way more fun. Glad it came through in the video!
My son and I are looking at these xt's and I came across your video. You guys KILLED IT! I'm sooo stoked for you doing what young men SHOULD be doing! 👍👍. And if I may put in a "dad" comment, I am very proud of you two and I hope you're mapping out your next mission! GET OUT THERE BOYS! 💥👍👍
This video inspired me to do the same thing. I pulled my Honda XR250L behind my 93 Toyota Warrior from Colorado to Lincoln City beach because i just had to have the experience of riding next to the ocean. Man was it worth it!
Being an XT owner this is one of the best videos I have ever watched. I have seen it about a million times. You guys lived my dream for sure, although I know I will do it someday. Thank you so much for documenting this!
You’ll regret that cb600. I’ve owned over 23 bikes over the last several years, and the lighter the bike the more nimble and affluent it is on the trails. Adventure bikes that weigh 580 pounds are not adventure bikes…they’re trail weights in my experience. Even the klr650 in the mid 400’s range is too cumbersome. I had a crf250l that weighs in at 330 wet the same weight as the xr650l someway some how lol but the xt225 is a whopping 260 wet!! It’s basically a bicycle with an engine.
I did a 3200km trip years ago in my early 20's on an 1100 honda, drove for 22 hrs straight, slept for 4 hrs showered & drove the last 8hrs to make my best friends stag & doe. I drove through bug storms, rain storms thick fog at night & had a super time doing it. No cameras back then so just the memories. Met up with another buddy at the end of my vacation & we did the trip back slower through the U.S. northern states heading west from Ontario. Sure would like to do a similiar trip now through Canada or the U.S. on a smaller dual sport before I get to an age where I just can't ride anymore. Good times, great video guys!
Terrific video guys!!! Memories to last a lifetime all within a modest budget. Looks like you were living well. "Great day to be alive" really captures the essence of the adventure. Ironic the title is "Capable Machines". When I loan a machine to friends it's usually the 2007 XT 225. Some snicker, some say, "no thanks, I'll pass." Everyone who DOES ride it, no matter our destination or terrain dismount shaking their heads surprised. I always refer to it as "capable". Truth be told, it's one of my spares. But when the other "MORE capable" machines are down the XT always leaves me saying, "nope, I didn't miss out on any of the fun today!" Great little machines. Hope you two have many more safe memorable adventures! Thanks for the cheerful, feel-good video! Now, take a trip to NH. Great trails here!
I have been smiling the entire video, your guys excitement is palpable and contagious, the gas fill ups absolutely kill me, @9:30 ish the classic blinker light left on, I do it all the time haha, and as a fellow XT225 owner I am so geeked for you guys and I can't wait to take a trip like this myself. You make it seem absolutely within reach. Thanks for making this.
bro, i was looking for videos of people riding there xt225 because i want to get one eventually because there pretty cheap. I'm so glad i found this video. the editing is perfect and i love yalls energy! it motivates me to do this one day!
This video was the deal breaker for making me get an enduro again. When i checked the specs of the xt225 and realized it’s a 6 speed that weighs in at a whopping 250 wet! I was sold. I’ve had over 24 bikes over the last several years experimenting with different feels after riding for many years. My final collection is the first gen fz1 dual sport modded and an 07 xt225. Nothing beats a lightweight nimble dual sport bike, I wish there was a 250cc or 300cc shaft driven thumper, maybe someday someone will make it, but until then the xt225 will have its space in my garage.
Cool Video - I used to live in Portland and I rode that “ Bridge of the Gods” ( best name for a bridge EVER ✅ ) Road to the falls on my bike many times..... Amazing feat that you guys found it all the way from your neck of the woods 👍❗️ That bridge used to cost only Fifty Cents for motorcycles, so I gave the toll booth lady on the Oregon side $5.00 and kept going back and forth from Oregon to Washington ...... I think I gave up after the SEVENTH Trip across 🤔. Cool seeing that Route you took to the Ocean - I did it on my DR 650 Dual Sport. Doing it on the trusty little Yama-hopper XT 225 looked like real fun - Ballsy Choice 😆 👍❗️ You guys are the Real- F**king - Deal for pulling that off 🤘. EXCELLENT VIDEO ❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
Thanks to you two guys for sharing this amazing and beautiful journey!!! Your videos continue to amaze me in so many ways.. Glad I was able to meet and shake your hand back in October, at a family event we both attended. Keep up the great work and enjoying life to the fullest!

I started riding motorcycles when I was 15 in 1963 and rode everyday until 1985. I've ridden from Long Beach, CA to Denver, to the Grand Canyon, Death Valley and to Yellowstone National Park (all separate trips). Ridden up and down the west coast many times. I once had a job testing prototype suspension and was paid a salary plus all expenses to put 4000 miles a week going anywhere we wanted. I miss bikes :-) We've been to the waterfall you enjoyed, Clearwater Falls (with all the green moss) .... I believe it was off Hwy 138 between Diamond Lake and Rosburg. We have a video of it on our channel. Had to wonder where you left the truck and what sort of loop you ran to get back to it ?
Amazing! Thank you for taking us along on your adventure. This is the best youtube video Ive seen in a while. But we're from Oregon so we might be a little bias. Nonetheless, we loved this video so much. Awesome!
Jeans,T-shirts,nylon jackets, hiking boots and half helmets. I miss those days. Now I've got KLIM ,Arai, D3o... and am watching you guys ride. Whose got their priorities straight?

We ran them hard! Comfortable is that 55-60 range but we wound em up to 70 for a few minutes when needed. They have that 6th gear which rules not sure if the 250 does. I also sold mine and regret it! Will definitely have another.
