and don't apologize for making a video late.... you do what you do and your nice enough to share and inspire and it doesn't cost us a dime.... for for whats its worth... thanks.
My favourite Circadian Chronicle yet!!
Though they are all amazing!!
@giggs102 Completely different effect, in the front the boost will create more overdrive, through the loop the boost simply adds volume :-).
This new series of videos has been great! Thanks for the effort.
These videos always make my day a little bit more awesome
Voodoo GCX! I've never looked back. Everything in one rack makes it so easy to show up at a gig. The Dunlop rack wah is brilliant as well.
@Jason Haverfield Ben is getting it on iTunes any second now :-)
Awesome, I loved the last tour blog and I loved the one you did when recording your EP.. very interesting, fun and somewhat educational stuff!
Great layout on the board, intelligent use of the tuner with the buffer, also bonus of acting as a kill mute for the noisier pedals, ie, the Octavia and distortion, nothing ruins a tight ending than a fat fryer sound in the background! ;-)
Top drawer stuff, Mr C, top drawer. Lovely Celtic-type scale you were using at the beginning of the board demo, love to get a closer glimpse of that in a chronicle post.
Haha, it IS. I have my RV-3 Reverb/Delay, and it's always on in some form or another, either just a reverb or a reverb/delay. It always sounds grand.
Very good work Sir!
Just started playing last week, and had the good fortune to stumble on a video of yours.
Been meaning to learn to play for years, but kids, wife, life, job always get in the way!
Keep taking the juice, keep inspiring us, and go get those chips :)
this is why I watch UA-cam.
Thanx for the great tip.
You Rock.
These vids light up my day , thanks Rob : )
this is awesome i love this daily vlogs. finally a vloger for muscians.
I love pedaltrain! I have a Pedaltrain Jr. and a Mini. The mini is good for those tiny corner of a bar type gigs. The junior fits about 4 pedals per row and I just put my wah on the side.
Love these vlogs Chappers!
Just watched your blog because I missed it yesterday. I don't watch much stuff on UA-cam but I watch you because I like the way you talk, your gear, your playing but mainly I like you. Keep on rocking mate... ;-)
i absolutely LOVE the vortex flanger! and in fact the whole reason i got one is because of another pedal board video you uploaded a while back
Super nice board. Good choice on fuzz before wah.
Thumbs WAY up for Rob's stylin' Incredible Hulk pants!!!
Cool !!!
Great pedalboard, great tone !!!
Our guitarist, Gabriel, Uses a CryBaby classic, but always had it before his Blues Driver and wondered why he couldn't get his ideal sounds regardless of the order of the other pedals in the chain! Swapping those first two around meant he found his tone in a matter of minutes! It's really best to experiment!
Simply love the TC Electronic pedals! The best thing to come out of Denmark, together with T Rex and Bacon! :D
Please never stop these videos Xxxx
Enjoyed this, cool to see you have the Pinnacle, nice power amp type marshall gain there.
I wish I could set up something like this soon. Might I suggest a look at 3M Dual lock to replace regular velcro. Stronger hold, cleaner and the grip lasts longer. Cheers Rob!
The effects loop is just a way to keep pedals that are NOT meant to be distorted/driven to be in a separate loop. For example, having a delay pedal in the FRONT (meaning amp ---> pedal ---> guitar) means that the delay itself will be rather distorted; I used to have a delay pedal that even acted as an overdrive!
basic rule of thumb is anything that is meant to be driven from the amp (distortion, OD, tubescreamer, etc) is to be in the front. Reverbs, delays, and others are in the loop :)
@Pyrosche Yes dude, we will be blogging the entire tour :-)
Serial FX Loops come after the preamp section of an amplifier. They run in series Preamp->FX Loop->Power Amp. Thus not allowing various modulation, reverb, and delay effects to hinder your preamp tone. If you were to run reverb into the front of the amp, the preamp processes the trails as well as the note bloom. Some guys don't like that wooshy effect, especially with heavy gain. Drive pedals, and wahs are the kind of effects you run before the preamp, thus blending their effect w/ your tone.
i agree, blues driver bd2 one of my favourite pedals ever
I want to see Dorje in the US at some point! Chappers you've got a bunch of fans over here waiting!!!
Yes chapers ive been waiting all day refreshing my sub box to get this knew you would not dissapoint! :D
You're a hero!
The thing with Fuzz Chappers is that it likes to 'see' your pickups, they normally do not react well after a buffer so people put them at the front to avoid any buffers. Cool board!
@Miroslav Gavric Awesome, congratulations dude :-)
I watched this at work and that awkward porn music was going on for hilariously too long
Same story here. My boss gave me a few odd looks.
Great video and a neat board. Gotta get me one of them pedaltrains.
I love pedalboard videos (and fuzz octaves).
That hall of fame will be out the window when you get your hands on the strymon blue sky rob :)
BTW, it's all about preference. If you like the way everything sounds in the front of the amp, keep it that way. Sometimes you may want a cleaner signal since the effects loop goes Preamp ---> effects ---> power amp meaning all pedals within the loop are BEFORE any drive/distortion. All up to the artist though :)
@tMattLZ well, i'm not an expert but IT basicly means that when you plug your effects into the effects loop of your amp, providing your amp has One fitted, the effects come after the preamp. this means you guitar signal can be processed by the amp before they are altered and effectified by the effects in the effects loop. for some pedals this is more preferable than daisychaning them into the front of you amp. hope this helped
Rabea actually explains the idea of two delays in his tutorial lesson for Aeromancy. Cool little idea actually.
@7:54 thank you @WamplerPedals Brian is a great guy
Nice end to the day, I can now hit the sheets. Cheers rob.
Just got my tickets through today, see you in manchester
good things about you. here, i done everything you ask for!
stay awesome.
Awesome board!
You guys should do a DVD of one of the shows so us people that can't make it to the shows can still see it. :0)
Deadly board man! I have made two boards myself in the past. I`m getting a few new pedals in the next month so I need a new board. I'm getting a Flashback Delay next week. The biggest thing for me is that I can never have my wah on an inclined angle. It always hurts my ankle.
Fish n chips with malt vinegar. Yummers
Spends fortune buying and building a pedal board with enough space to house pedals without accidentally "stepping" on the wrong one - operates pedals with fingers, genius!
Just kidding, thanks for the awesome and informative video, I always wondered what the fuss was about pedalboards, now I know. Great Job!
Love The Dreadlocks Rob also the set up is almost identical to mine except the Pinnacle next purchase me thinks :)
The Hall of Fame by TC Electronics is a great pedal for the price. I love mine.
Man when you were having this awesome night i was working :( but haha! now it is my turn to have an awesome guitar day
That Wampler ready does kick ass!
Hey Rob I've got the same Pedal Train board that you had. I had know idea that they release a beggier version. I'm buying it along with the Voodoo lab extra large power pack. Thanks Rob.
you are an amazing player
You can put the velcro on the rubber part as well. It doesn't stic quite as well, but it works fine. I have a few pedals like that and I can turn my Pedaltrain upside down and they don't come off. Not as solid as the metal bottom pedals but plenty good enough.
Sick board Rob! Pedaltrain is the way to go.
@TheStevieD09 I am giving my old pedaltrain to Dave my bassist :-)
Just bought my tickets for the Liverpool gig cannot wait :D i wonder if you can put a better show on than Slash :)
Just read that Sam Coulson is going to play with Asia!!! That's Awesome!!!
i have an old ac15 which my uncle gave me, i use a boss ds2 through it, sounds amazing.
The Pinnacle into the dirt channel of a Rockerverb?
Jesus...
wow i need one of those
Thank god, though there wasn't going to be a video tonight
@Aint1S Chair? This is a rock tour dude I won't be sitting down! Better to have everything on the same board so that it is easier, quicker and simpler for my crew of techs to set up the stage. Also there is occasionally limited space so having pedals on the floor is not always an option, Lastly I have more pedals on the way :-)
You're a fantastic musician :D
Awesome set up man! it's good you're handing with a drill! id end up messing the whole thing up XD
Yea, man... I just got a Pedaltrain Pro Soft Case... the thing is FUCKING HUGE... but I have a lot of big pedals and I needed the space. I love the Pedaltrain too.
Awesome
You know Rob, I've always been a digital kind of amp guy. You know, Line 6 and Guitar Rig and all those beautiful things. I've been thinking that maybe it's time that I change into the analog amp world filled with valve amps and millions of effects pedals. Would you be willing to think about making a video about setting up effect loops and maybe just generally explain how to set up a bunch of pedals?
Thanks a lot man.
Hey, I had the same theory about running the wah first but if you're a person playing cleans and distorted guitar often, then yeah the wah should be first. I sometimes place my distortion pedal before the wah to get weird sounds combined with the amp's overdrive.
difference is, wah is first for clearest tone
u can place wah later in the chain if you like messing with pedals and discovering new sounds.
Maybe add a noise gate and I would use the George L cable and ends to link everything together.
I seen a vid another guy did and he put painter's tape on the bottom of his pedals before the Velcro. This way if he wants to sell any of them later it comes off with no mess. just a lil tip i seen and thought was useful.
It's a buffering device that makes a wah true-bypass.
PRS Mark Tremonti SE... awesome guitar
Hi Chappers, seeing as you're getting in being healthier I would definitely recommend checking out a book called Eat Stop Eat. It's based on the idea of fasting for particular periods of time. I do it slightly differently than the book recommends in that I fast for 14-16 hours a day (everyday) but I still eat the same quantities as I usually would.
Cheers for the great videos
Thx Chappers, verynusef
That pedal board is fantastic. God I hate being poor!
1 Spot is great but doesn't help if your running pedals at 12V or 18V or even reverse polarity like the octavio on his board.
well done Rob
I am limited in how I can reply to the video post because I'm using UA-cam mobile but if you're watching this, thank you Madspectro7 and damadstuntman. That video and information really helped!
rob, your an amazing hairy beast !!
Just nabbed one of the anniversary octavio pedals from a french music shop, last one they had in stock :D really can't afford it... but i just had to.
Hey Chappers could you do a video about performing like tips and stuff for letting your self go abit lol
i got the pedal train pro, and it may not be big enough, i need to slow down on the pedals.
make two boards
with the excess
For an objective opinion, the ML-2 really is a very good option at that price range, especially for sexy wooden win. Or, you could get an ibanez for slightly less and put better pickups in it, they make great mid range guitars, but that depends on if you like the feel of their necks.
What about some soldering iron action? I make all my cables and never looked back ever since I started doing it. But being endorsed is better of course =P
Hey man, can you do a video for setting up the wah pad? I've had trouble setting mine up
Not so long ago you hadn't been into pedals at all - now look at you! Ye hath succumbed to the GAS!! ;-)
Rob ive been watching your videos for the last few years now and i love them and i was wondering if you and cap lee could do a review of the new schecter hellraiser-usa 100 head when its released i really wanna see how it sounds and id like nothing better than to hear it with some chappers win rock on dude \m/,
I'm drinking beer and watching El Chappitola .... my dog Molly is contendedly gnawing on a bone ... whose having the best Friday Night ? lol. \m/
bad azz board!
Instead of ripping off the rubber on the bottom of Boss pedals, try taking the whole bottom plate off and flipping it over so the rubber is on the inside of the pedal. I've done it with a bunch of Boss pedals and haven't come across one that didn't have plenty of space to accommodate the rubber without damaging any of the guts. It's way less of a headache and can always be flipped back if you run into an uptight pedal jerk if/when you sell it in the future. Just a thought!
Hey Rob! Please make a video on how to use multieffects efficiently.
chappers reminds me of a more tech knowledgable version of me and my mate guitarmonies
1 word for my coming pedalboard: IKEA :P
Not to hate on Chapman Guitars, I haven't tried any and they look great, but there are some other options as well. If you have access/have used eBay before you can buy a good axe used. U can get a Gib LP Faded, new they are like 799, or you could get a Mexi Strat and upgrade it. Warmoth, from Puyallup, Wa has some great custom options. You could build an axe from showcase parts for around 7-800. Chapman are good too. Just retrofit them with your own Pups I would say.
