    Godox to me is THE BEST bang for the buck out there... Their flashes are reliable, easy to use, their wireless x technology allows me to use my V860II for Panasonic, V350S for Sony, SK300II studio light to be controlled by the Panasonic X1T or the Sony X-Pro. I can even control the modeling light thru the trigger. I got the Lithium Ion batteries and they are so good! Last entire shots and then some. Great video Gerald!

    I can add, that I used the XPRO S with my canon 580ex and Metz 54 flash on Godox XT1C R receivers, and they fired with HSS perfectly well on a Sony alpha 6500.

      Wow, you gave me an another useful tip. So you have Sony A6500 and put Xpro-S(transmiter) on hot shoe then trigger the 580ex and Metz 54 which is attached X1R-C(receiver). Even with HSS. Correct? That is awsome!

    Yyou must have been reading my mind --- our family has been using, both a Sony a6300 and Canon SL2 and we've been comparing flash brands, specs, apples, oranges, well, it got a little confusing until we found your tutorial. Thank you for your simplistic ,yet detailed descriptions to help us understand the technical terminology and in making a better purchasing choice. Keep up the great work!

    Magnificent! Thanks for this video. So simple, yet so brilliant! I am so glad I bought a couple of the Godox AD200 units before seeing this video. They work great, and now I know they can be ultra versatile as well regardless of camera brand. Especially good when shooting with my business partner who uses a different camera brand. WINNER!!!

    I've purchased more Godox product than I care to admit. Their bare-bulb original Wistro was a big hit back in the day and it got me started on them. Their Li-Ion speedlights were an excellent idea with a lot of problems-much inferior to where they ended up. They had massive QC issues across their product range and some really puzzling initial designs. I think I've purchased at least 5 separate triggers (including the two you pictured) and it's only been in the recent past that they've felt like the people designing communicated with the people using the prodcut. For a long time I relied on the ability to control external lights from both my Canon and Sony cameras. But I don't really pick up the Canon anymore and its only the fact that other people hacked their software that makes their hardware even relevant and encouraged me to hold on to my Canon. Back on topic, I often require more than 3 groups so I use the Godox trigger, but I want the form factor of the X1T with the layout of the newer XPro (sort of like the Cactus system if you've ever used those). I felt like I kept buying Godox stuff, complaining about its idiosyncrasies, they'd update, I'd by a new iteration, complain, update, I buy again. I'd hate them for it if their product weren't so cheap and if they hadn't ended up in such an incredible place. Incidentally, contact the FlashHavoc guy with any Godox questions. I know I've been able to communicate with Godox directly through him in the past with product feedback. He's been great. Thanks again for your quality videos.

    I am literally mid transition from a canon 6D mk II to a Sony A7iii system. I already used a Godox X-1TC to fire my studio lighting (which is Godox) and its good to know my Sony, with the TT350 or X-Pro can work on the same shoot, at the same time, with the same lights. I just ordered my TT-350S about an hour before seeing this video. Thanks for the video... Godox/Flashpoint/Pixapro lighting is really the best bang for buck right now!!!

    Hey Gerald, I was searching for these information all around internet for past 3 months. I’m planning to start flash photography and I’m planning to upgrade my camera from 70d to mirrorless full frame. Bt I’m planning to wait for a7iv. Mean time I thought I can get myself familiar with flash photography and problem is if I had to switch Sony aftr buying flashes for my canon now, can I use them later in Sony or I should just discard them. !
    As you rightly said there is no information about this anywhere even now after three years of this video.
    This video gave me answer for all my doubts.
    It was so useful as all your videos.

    I recently moved from Canon to Sony, and all I did was buy a new X-Pro(S) trigger. And I discovered the other day that my X-Pro(C) will work perfectly on my Sony a7Riii in manual mode. How's that for compatability? ;)
    BTW, with the two master setup, each master *should* send its own settings to the slaves every time they are triggered which allows each shooter to shoot with different settings. At least that's how it is supposed to work when using X-Pro masters.

      Wow, this is great! I recently moved from Canon to Sony too, and was a little sad since I bought a V860IIC and an XPro (C) just a couple of months ago. Since there are not many compatible flashes available in the market for Panasonic system, i was wondering if it would be possible to use the X1 trigger(O mount which supports Panasonic system) to wirelessly control the TT685(S/N/C mounts),and still be able to use the TTL and HSS functions? Im using Lumix G85 bdw and might be getting into Sony system sometime soon. Since both the systems have very different crop factors, would that be a problem using Sony mount Tt685 wirelessly controlled by a Panasonic Mount trigger?

  • @johansmitphotography
    @johansmitphotography 5 років тому

    I think Godox kind of doesn't want to encourage people to tell us that the normal, small on camera flashes like the TT350 can be used as a full blown trigger with all the features of a normal trigger, because they want people to buy a trigger and another flash, where now, with people showing us it's capabilities, people would rather just buy another flash witch can be used as a flash or trigger. So they would sell less triggers now. Well, that's what I think. Because it's not like widely advertised that the flash has an useable trigger system built in. It only has 3 channels, but many people would now rather just buy 1 other flash that to buy another flash and a trigger.

      Yes, in manual mode only. No TTL No HSS. I bought that stuff after watching this video. Painfully updated firmware on the Godox stuff, still won't work. Sticking with my Radiopopper jrx stuff. It seems wasteful to replace perfectly good flashes.

    Hey Gerald, I was wondering if you could use a Sony Godox Trigger to trigger Canon Flashes like the V860ii wirelessly through radio transmitter? And vise versa, if it's possible, would it be able to do TTL or High speed sync as well? Thanks! Love the videos you create and keep it up!

    • @chrissetter
      @chrissetter Рік тому

      Yes, you should be able to. Godox/flashpoint have receivers to attach to the shoes of Canon flashes. The Godox transmitters (including Godox flashes with master capability) should be able to communicate HSS and TTL commands to the Canon flash.

      Any GODOX trigger will control any other GODOX light if they're part of the wireless-X system. But you want to make sure the trigger matches the brand of the camera you're putting it in.

    Hi Gerald! Many thanks for this video! Like you, I am invested in Canon and have also bought into Sony (A7RII and A6000). I use the both camera systems for different needs. I'm going into real estate soon and really thinking about the HOW to invest in Godox to suit both my Canon and Sonys. That said , I was wondering WHY you were using TT350's and if using an V860II or V1 speedlight would function the same exact way you used the TT350's. I'm not sure I understand if the Godox X System of a V1 is the same as a Radio Signal - - are they the same? I hope you don't mind helping me out with your thoughts or experience on this. Thanks a bunch in advance! ;-)

    Finally a video to understand. NOW, if i were to use this set up BUT have a canon and a sony like you show here. But have another set of speedlites, not the AD200 for OCF. Would they need to be Sony or Canon? Or it will not matter? just the ones that you have on camera. Also. are The TT600 and TT685’s compatible with the 860 speedlite?

    • @geraldundone
      @geraldundone  6 років тому +1

      I'll do my best to answer everything, but some things I haven't tested, so no guarantees.
      When it comes to using non-Godox flashes with a Godox flash on camera or as master, you need to use receivers, but I don't believe that the special functions will communicate cross-brand. So, for example, a Godox thinklite on camera can control a Sony or Canon flash off camera provided you put an X1R receiver on it for the correct brand, but the Canon camera likely wouldn't be able to send TTL or HSS to the Sony flash. It might work, I haven't tested, but I kind of doubt it.
      As far as the TT600s, they should work. When it comes to Godox look for the words "X radio system", generally if a product has that (which the TT600 does) it means it should work with any other devices that also have that.
      Hope that helps! 😃

    Great video. Solves my riddle half way. Another quick question which could also be stupid coz I am new to flash photography. Is there any ways i could take both flashes off camera? I am planning to get an AD 200 along with a V860iiC for my Canon body. But since I am planning to Get a Sony body soon, is it possible to fire the same flash (Off camera) using my sony? I wouldnt mind buying a trigger or any adapters which is reliable.

    • @geraldundone
      @geraldundone  6 років тому

      The Sony can trigger the V860, but you'll need to get a trigger for the Sony (or another flash with trigger built in).
      You could use a TT350 as they have triggers built in and are cheap and small, or you could get the X1T-S trigger.

    I did the switch from Canon to Sony and have a Canon speedlite so I was wondering if the following would work.
    Master:
    Xpro-s on the Sony A7R ii
    Slaves:
    AD600 pro
    Godox V850ii-s
    Godox V850ii-c
    X1-c on Canon 580EX
    All the Godox's would take TTL and manual/group settings from Xpro-s, but would the X1 have TTL and manual control on the Canon speedlite or would it just trigger?

      Unfortunately, I can't test that combination for you, but I have a theory:
      Generally cross-system doesn't send advanced details like TTL or HSS, but manual usually works.
      So, I think you might be able to set the manual power remotely and trigger it on the Canon, but I doubt that you'll be able to send Sony's HSS or TTL info.
      Hope that helps.

      Thomas Günther - I did a brief test of that in the camera store, and from what I remember the transmitters and receivers dont work as well cross platform. Sony and Canon don't communicate their HSS and ETTL very well that way. You can still trigger, but just basic settings.
