  • Brushing with baking soda can safely and effectively remove plaque. While still abrasive, baking soda toothpaste is not as hard as the enamel that makes up teeth and can remove plaque without damaging the enamel.
    A 2017 review suggests that toothpaste that contains baking soda may be more effective at reducing the amount of plaque in the mouth than traditional toothpaste.

    • @BA-ic9uh
      @BA-ic9uh Місяць тому

      @@nursesona7227 sorry. On my original post I said baking powder…. That was a mind fart. I meant soda. It’s hard for me to say exactly because I just add and mix ingredients for the right consistency but I start off with maybe 1/4 cup of warmed coconut oil …. Not melted to be liquid , but just warm enough to be soft enough to stir. Then I add enough baking soda and pearl powder so it forms a paste. More soda than pearl powder … maybe 3 tblsp of soda. In the process I add the mint extract because it will thin the paste so it becomes liquid. ( maybe 2 tsp). If you add too much mint it will kind of burn in your mouth do don’t over do it . Mix all together. If it gets too runny just add more baking soda. I’ve been using red mill baking soda and organic coconut oil. Sorry my recipe is a bit vague , but like any good cook I falter at exact measurements 🤪.

    I've been using it 2x a day for a decade or more. No cavities and teeth are great, no loss of enamel. I also maintain a higher vitamin D3 level, and take magnesium, so that might be helping as well. BUT I'm afraid I have to disagree with you about using it as a remedy for acid indigestion. ACV is a much smarter choice. Most acid stomach issues aren't about too much acid, but too much acid in the wrong place - rising up into the esophagus. Adding some acid to the stomach will correct that by giving the stomach what it needs, so it can close that esophageal flap.

    I like to drink a small amount of baking soda water when I wake up with acid reflux. It helps so the the burning in my esophagus as well as helps to neutralize some if that stomach acid.

    • @Mhantrax
      @Mhantrax Місяць тому +4

      My brother and I had extreme acid reflux for decades. We used to use baking soda, Tums etc because it reduced the acidity, right?
      Wrong. Turns out that the major reason for most of our ongoing acid reflux is the our (entire) digestive system is actually not acidic enough.
      So, 6 months later, my brother and I have both completely and permanently solved the problem of acid reflux.
      We simply drank 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed in water (we drank through a straw to keep it off the teeth) per day. My dad had this problem, we shared this method. Fixed. My mother had it. Fixed.
      Turns out base chemicals like baking soda and Tums only help in the short term, but exasperate the problem in the long run.
      This is the first video from the great doctor here that I have to vehemently disagree with some of his advice. Our standard American Diet is already wreaking havoc on our bodies, oftentimes making our digestive system and body, in general, not acidic enough. And it causes a lot of problems. Drinking baking soda is the exact opposite of what we should be doing.

      Good Morning everyone !
      Baking Soda, added to a quarter cup of your favorite hand lotion, with about two TBSP of lemon juice...Really helps exfoliate and give you soft, clean, and smooth skin. It's Great for the face, as well as the tops of hands, or wherever you can use some softness, with a cleanser, and exfoliation.
      Make a paste with it. The mixture will fizz a bit when you add the lemon juice.
      Put enough on your face, or wherever else you choose, but don't scrub, as it also can scratch up skin. Just enough to cover the area thinly, like you would use regular moisturizer.
      Leave on face and wait about 10-15 minutes.
      Rinse off. You will not believe how soft, smooth, and clean your skin is.
      I'm sure it would help with acne, as well.
      GOD Bless you all 🌹

    All the fad cleaners, like produce cleaner, bathroom cleaners and tooth whiteners, face exfoliation & odor HIDERS can be replaced this way. Save money, reduce toxins in the home & body. Keep a small dish or pouch in your vehicle too!

    This is great advice for weekly treatment. Just be careful that you don't use baking soda to brush your teeth every day. My dentist says that it causes gums to shrink and more tooth lengthening procedures are required now. That's not fun and it's expensive (skin is taken from the roof of your mouth and surgically placed on your gumline).

    I've been told baking soda can eat your stomach up causing all kinds of trouble. I'd be real careful using this as in drinking, 🤷

      One tea spoon of baking soda in a glass of water is great to get rid of acid or gas it’s the akeline bit to be over used say once a month or when needed , just like paracetamol you don’t take it daily just when needed 👍🏻

    Hello Dr Mandell, I’ve been watching your videos and I have a really bad stomach, even after cleaning my stomach there’s still gas in there. If I eat or don’t eat or whatever I do or don’t, my stomach always makes noise and it’s so loud that people from far away can even hear, there’s so much air in there. I hate sitting in quiet places due to this and I’ve tried so many home remedies but nothing has worked, I feel embarrassed to go out and whenever my stomach makes a big noise. What do I do?
