Girl I've had tooth problems as well. Five dental implants, practically every tooth crowned. Much unbearable pain to my body and my bank account--big ouch! Glad you have a good dentist, I had an entire team, because a lot of my dental horrors resulted from poor dental care, unknown to me because I always thought they were competent! Best of luck!

That’s basically what caused my teeth issues later in life, my Mum thought she was doing the right thing by taking me to the dentist every 6 months for a checkup and every time I went, the dentist had to give me a filling and back then they were all amalgamated fillings, so when my wisdom teeth started to come through, my mouth wasn’t big enough for the extra teeth and I had to have the 4 of them extracted in the chair and my bottom wisdom teeth were like fish hooks and impacted and the dentist broke my jaw trying to pull them out, I ended up in hospital in the emergency section and I knew some of the staff working there and they thought I’d been in a car accident, my face was the size of a football and I was just as swollen and bruised, it was a nightmare and still is, I had two little boys and my parents were going away for the weekend, so they took our 3 year old, so hubby only had our 1 year old to look after as I was kept overnight in hospital and was of no help for my babies other than breast feed our youngest, my parents were Wonderful to take our 3 year old with them, although I know they loved it just as much as he did and hubby could just take care of me basically for the weekend and change diapers when needed and feed our baby as well when needed…I know my Mum thought she was doing the right thing at the time taking me to the dentist regularly but in hindsight, it was probably the worst thing she did and I’m paying for it now as my teeth are close to 64 years old being in my mouth, when you think of it in years of having teeth in your mouth..🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😥😥💙💙🇦🇺❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

@@-nellie-m3711 I go for a cleaning as well every 6 months and every time dentists are asking me to redo a filling or say that there is a cavity even though I dont see it on the xray.
One dentist told me I would be honest there is no cavity but the last filing has air on it u gotta redo the fillings. I started redoing the fillings to the points that the tooth became week.
Big scam I know, I was careful to not fail for it but felt for it again due to pressure from dentist and multiple calls about the appointment. be careful and try ask them to email u the Xray. They will schedule u for a filling u say OK, go home check the Xray, if no cavity call and cancel the filling appointment.

I’m fortunate to live in an area with a medical and dental university. If you came in low in your class you aren’t going to be accepted to a good school. Same with internship or residency. You didn’t do good in college or university you will not be accepted by any outstanding clinic or hospital. I had top front tooth implanted 30 - 35 years ago. Problem free until 2023. It was saved and I’m thrilled. I had some minor surgery, gum removed, and medicine implanted. It was a 3 month ordeal and only minimal discomfort. Thank goodness for having excellent dentist in my area. My initial implant was a years
process. Dentist gave bone graft 6 months to heal. I have titanium. That’s all that was available. I am 75 years old and I have never ever regretted, not one single day, of getting the implant. And it was worth every penny.

I had an implant 2019 to replace my eye tooth. The dentist never mentioned a ceramic post, I have titanium. Having only one tooth done was much less complicated. I still had many gaps in the process waiting for bone grafts to heal and for the post to heal. No part ever hurt, but with only one tooth, she pounded the post in. Although it didn’t hurt, it was the most horrible noise ever.
Being quite a bit older than you, I don’t worry too much about the titanium, it won’t be in my mouth nearly as long as yours will be.
I’m was kid of the mercury fillings age, so I have flirted with horrendous metal in my mouth. Of course, the metal fillings have all been replaced.
Good luck with the rest of this journey. 😊❤

Hi Shea! I’m a long time UA-cam follower and I wanted to thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing your teeth journey! I’m reaching out because my sweet momma was in a really bad accident when she was younger so her 2 very front teeth are implants, but unfortunately now that she is getting older the implants are failing due to that bone trauma and she doesn’t have many options. She is wearing a retainer similar to yours right now but she’s not allowed to eat with it in and she is so self conscious it breaks my heart! They have a surgery option to do a bone graft and try to grow bone so she can get those implants back in but we have been through a lot with my brother (addict, paying for his rehab stays) so her bank is drained. I was just reaching out to see if you were still helping people with teeth issues. If not don’t worry- just wanted to tell you we appreciate you and your videos are helping my mom get through this! 🤍

You poor thing. I understand about not having great teeth. I was always cavity prone. When I was pregnant with my 1st daughter, my 3 back molars cracked. I had to have 3 root canals after she was born, but couldn't take pain meds because I was nursing. It was awful. My brother grew up eating the same things as I did, we went to the same dentist, yet he only has 1 filling in his mouth. I could have gone on a trip around the world with all of the money I've spent on dental work. My husband has had 4 implants, and I believe that 2 have failed. And I think that they are titanium screws. He's originally from Pittsburgh, so perhaps he should see Dr. Sam.
I hope you heal quickly. Wishing you all of the best. Hugs. ❤️🫶🫂

It's wonderful you are sharing your journey.
So many people have these issues and don't know where to start or how to deal with it.

I also have had my "big share" of dental work. I think I was just born with bad teeth. Extractions, bridges, crowns, root canals, fillings, gum surgery. In spite of it all I've made it through, but at times it seems like a never ending game. Dental pain is the worst.

Thank you for telling people to avoid root canals. My husband was an Oral Surgeon and learned how toxic they are. The root canal procedure does not get the infection from the tiny lateral canals so you still have a low grade infection. The cost of implants and length of time is daunting but in the course of a lifetime it’s worth it. I think I still have one root canal tooth and maybe I’ll decide to replace with an implant although I’m 77 and maybe it’s too late. My health has never been great, but I don’t know if it’s from the root canals. Personally, I’d be happy to just remove the root canal or bad tooth and wear an appliance and no implant but in my situation had no choice but an implant.

I think we are on the same timeline with our implant journey. Around Thanksgiving last year, 2 of my molars broke. I was lucky that i wasn't in pain but was told that both teeth needed to come out. Last week, I had the healing abutments placed, and next week, they do the scan to make my new teeth. In the past year, I've also had crowns placed on all of my remaining molars. I was feeling so excited that this extensive dental work is almost over then I recently started feeling pain in 2 other areas of my mouth. I found out that I have 3 failed root canals on teeth that I just spent a lot of time and money to get brand new crowns on, and I am now dealing with infections similar to what you had. Im going to go to an endodontist and attempt retreatment because 3 more implants are just not financially possible for me. Dental issues are tough. For me, it seems like it's always 1step forward 2 steps back. I wish you luck with your remaining dental journey, and I know you're excited to have that finish line in sight.

I’m wishing you the best of luck 🤞🏻. My teeth are a mess. Had to take Tetracycline at age four for pneumonia. It discolored my permanent teeth badly. They are very brittle as well. I’ve had SO much work done on my teeth. Now I’m retired and can’t afford to do anything more. I need several replacements but I’m just not doing any more. My dentist says I have impeccable oral hygiene but to no avail. I’m so disappointed 😢. If I do anything more, I will just get them pulled and get dentures, which I hate to think of. I have been frustrated by my teeth my entire life.

Our society places such unrealistic expectations of total physical perfection on women (body, hair, face, and smile). For this reason, in addition to the reasons others have already stated below, I also applaud you for being so real and exposing your challenge (while you remain beautiful, of course!) 🙂 Many of us will encounter at least one physical/health challenge, even in our relative youth, and as women we are supposed to bury it in the sand and feel some kind of shame about it because we are no longer "perfect". Or maybe we can be "perfect" again but it takes a massive amount of money to fix what has deteriorated. I can relate to this as I was being exposed to toxic black mold for years in my work place, and while my health worsened and no doctor could diagnose me, it seriously impacted my hair/brows and aged my face more than it otherwise would have. I thought this was the extent of it but also recently realized that I had been grinding my teeth all of these years (causing unsightly chips in my tooth enamel). It is hard enough to recover from an illness, but then one realizes you also need to spend loads of money to try to fix these cosmetic issues, if they are even fixable. It feels like you've lost a part of yourself when one or more aspects of your physical attractiveness is reduced by some illness or other event. Even if you've always known that you had so much more to offer than this.

You are so brave and generous to share all of this with us. You are helping us understand the process and helping to dispel the fear and negative thoughts, feelings and emotions that others may have if they find themselves in this situation. Beyond your bravery and generosity though, I think you should know that you are absolutely gorgeous even without your makeup. With makeup you appear to be in your very early 30’s. Without makeup you look even younger. You are so beautiful with or without it but sharing such a deeply personal and painful experience with us proves what a beautiful soul you have. You are amazing and I always feel better and uplifted after one of your videos. This one though was so enlightening and inspiring to me because I am starting to have dental issues from being so nauseous and sick from chemo for breast cancer. It was rough on my teeth to spend some days vomiting and bathing my teeth in stomach acid. Even brushing and mouth wash could only do so much. It damaged my teeth; I have a dental background and this was better than anything they teach in a lab setting. I polished dentures and partials for 2 years and this has been so informative about not just the physical part of your experience but the emotional aspects also. I just wanted to say thank you for letting us into your personal world and sharing your heart with us.

Bless You Shea and having a Great Dentist, I’ve been having teeth issues for many years and as one tooth gets fixed the one beside it ends up going down the same route, it’s almost like a domino effect with your teeth, I’ve begged my dentist to just remove my bottom teeth and have implants but he just won’t even listen to me, I had a scan of my mouth and all my bottom teeth are going to end up getting infected and work done to them and even after looking at my scan, he still wouldn’t do anything to prevent the inevitable, I can’t eat any type of food that has texture to it, I can’t eat meat, most of what I eat is cereal that’s been softened that I don’t have to chew it, I absolutely feel your pain But Happy that you’ve got a dentist who is looking after you and your teeth. I have a removable partial for my front two teeth and they do not look natural. I feel so embarrassed every time I talk and I never smile. I love that you are vulnerable enough to let us watch your process and the information you give is invaluable!!!

I am having lots of problems with my teeth too, i went for a filling and the dentist left my tooth with a gap, it cause me infection and i had to do a root canal and crown. I'm missing two molars and my new dentist recommended me to see a surgeon for implants but I can't afford it. Good luck to you, God bless you!!

You are so brave. I admire you for sharing this personal dental journey with us. I have two titanium implants not by choice as that's what was used and apparently there wasn't another option at that time. Luckily my body has not rejected them. I have a huge fear of dental procedures as I have had some really bad painful experiences. So, thank you so much for letting us tag along and learn.

Because of my 4 pregnancies, I have had a lot of tooth complications. I actually had a couple of root canals and crowns along all my upper teeth just 2 months ago. The recovery was a bear, but it was necessary- and worth it! There are so many factors that go into dental health/issues… some of them, outside of our control. Speedy healing, girlie!

Doctors instructed me to complete my antibiotics before scheduling another appointment. It has been an incredibly challenging week. I wish I had access to your doctor for treatment. Currently, all my front teeth have root canals and crowns, and I require a competent dentist. I believe there is an aspect to this issue that is not widely discussed, and many individuals are facing similar struggles. Take care❤️

Thank you so much for sharing this very personal health journey with us. I want you to know that this is extremely helpful for me because I lost two teeth around 25 years ago. I never had the courage to do implants because of what I discovered after doing some research, so I decided to wear partial removable dentures instead. The problem is that after years of using the removable dentures, the friction caused every time I put it on or take it off starts to damage the teeth around it. So I was trying to think what else can I do to fix this issue. Thanks to you, I am now considering ceramic implants. I will take a deep look into it to see if I have the courage you have because I too will need bone graft on both teeth. May God bless you Shea and may He speed up your healing. 🙌🤲💜

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I can sympathize. I had 22 teeth pulled for braces. (Small mouth and too many teeth). Then braces for 5 years. I went to the orthodontist monthly to have them tightened. I could barely eat because of the pain. My only saving grace was no head gear. Then 8 or so years later 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled. Hang in there. When it’s over you’ll be glad it’s over and you’ll love the results. The very best wishes.

How could you possibly have 22 teeth extracted when an adult has 32 teeth (that includes wisdom teeth) and a child has 20 teeth. If you had 22 teeth extracted you wouldn't have enough teeth for orthodonics 😮

They say it's biocompatible. I dislocated my elbow a number of years ago and they put it back together with titanium pins. I continued to experience pain which the surgeon couldn't figure out. He did a second surgery to remove the pins and I was fine after that. I am very allergic to nickel and cheap metals. I will never have titanium again

I’m happy you have a doctor Sam and did your research. I ended up with an older and not so up to date provider that did not do the science ane planning that Dr. Sam did for you and the implants I got for my upper did not work and I’m stuck with a full removable upper and useless implants imbedded in my jawbone. Whole process took years due to Covid and after over four years later I’m still kicking myself for not getting more opinions. Only 52 years old and I’m constantly gagging, sore, can’t wait to “take my teeth out at night” and don’t enjoy eating whatsoever.

Take good care of yourself and allow the time to really heal. And, Shea, this is a great service you have done in showing people what is available to them. I would jump at the chance if my financial circumstances where such that I could.
