  • Confused about the differences between titanium and zirconia implants? Not sure which one is right for you? Let's fix that.
Over the past decade, Ceramic (Zirconia) implants have emerged as an excellent alternative to traditional titanium implants. They provide a metal-free option for patients who have metal sensitivities and allergies.
In this video, Dr. Balogh dives into the differences between Titanium and Ceramic (Zirconia) Dental Implants, explaining the pros and cons of each, and answering that all important question: which one is right for you?

Please read my comment on top. Stroemann is the best. Please refuse the other brands, like Noble BioCare. It doesn't have much of atrack record but it is cheaper for dentists and that's why they buy it - to save. However, the usually cost as much as Stroemann to the patients. I think you see the picture clearly.

I am very allergic to nickel. When I broke my ankle, the surgeon put in a titanium plate. I got a horrible reaction of itching and pus-filled acne-looking rash. My doc said that it’s impossible to be allergic and he kept doubting me saying that there was no nickel, although the contact dermatitis was exactly where the screws were. Using the screw number identification, the screws that hold the titanium plate in place did have content of nickel, about 5%. I may be crazy, but my body isn’t. ❤

Replace with traditional dental bridge. Put crown on the tooth holding the bridge. I have had my dental bridge for 15 years. It has been fine. They cost a lot less then implants. Between $400-$2.000. The idea that implants are the only way to replace teeth is false.

    • @VioletLife8
      @VioletLife8 7 місяців тому

It's not that implants are the only way to replace teeth ... What matters is that when a tooth is missing in the teeth, its root is also gone. And in the long term, the lack of the root causes other teeth to fall out and become crooked at first. So replacing the root with an artificial root;, that is what implants do. That being said; Metal is a no go to have in your body, so Zirconium is a very justified preference for people. Increasingly in demand.@@angelaschaefer5883

Dr. Balogh, thank you so much for this wonderful video.
I already have 5 implants. My oral surgeon used Stroemann implants in first 3 cases (##31, 30 ans 29) but now he completely switched to Noble Biocare. He installed Noble Biocare on tooth #4 (I believe it is made out of Zirconia Oxide, correct?)
The implant on #4 seems fine but I am still uncomfortable with the crown because it went deeply into the gums which doesn't feel good. The second Noble Biocare implant was placed on #28 . After it was installed it actually looked too big for the spot, I thought that there was not enough bone to support it. Low and behold, I was right! The Implant on #28 came out completely in 3 weeks. Now I am doing research to find out which implant type is better for me. I feel that Stroemann would be better but my dentist doesn't use it anymore.
I went for the second opinion and another oral surgeon told me that he would be using Korean implants (the name starts with an H). I am at crossroads and do not know what to do. Please advise!

I ended up going with Nobel which was a mistake. The implant was OK at first but when the dentist screwed in the crown it started to hurt. It started to get better but then I got a constant pain that wouldn't go away and had to get the crown removed.
The non metal screw was stripped by the dentist(don't listen to Nobel-the carbon screw is garbage) and the oral surgeon had to saw the crown off. It was a miserable experience. Straumann may have been a better move and always go with a dentist who is used to dealing with zirconia implants, that was my second mistake.
The surgeon said the implant was looking fine when it was removed, if it wasn't for that damn screw I may have had a better outcome (and a dentist that has experience with them)

After I research that titanium alloy is made of aluminum, nickel, cadmium, lead, etc. I suggest you as a dentist must think of patient health. Non-biological dentists don't approve of this point but it seems there is a strong link between titanium dental implants (allergy or metal toxicity) and autoimmune disease start. I think that it is important to know all the pros and cons of both brands. Zirconia implants are not flexible in terms of angle of placement, and don't come in sizes smaller than 4,1 inches. Mine was too bog for the spot. Now my dentist wants to install the same type of implant into the same spot again. Hmm...

The idea that there are multiple types of metal and also nickel or worse; lead is incorporated into the metal is worrying. It's not just about the stuff hitting your tooth bone or gums, but also the toxins that are released in the long term due to erosion. It can cause all kinds of diseases/conditions in your body. You should not want to. Zirconium is the way to do this. And if there is no better option or money, place a bridge but in the meantime save for an implant because missing the tooth root will cause your entire teeth to suffer in the long term.

All on 4-6 ? Yes you can use them but they have to be 4.5mm and titanium 3.0mm. Titanium is stronger.
For that you need more bone. As i understand most people dont have problem with bottom jaw bone as its HUGE.
Problem is with upper jaw bone. Specialy with older people... Or baddly extracted tooths.
When they extracted my tooth they also put in bio celulosise to fill up whole and make recovery better.
