      My only advice to new players would be practice practice practice got to walk before you can run take things slow till you get the memory locked in should be able to play with eyes closed . My wife says all the time how do you know what your doing with eyes closed - finger per fret muscle memory babe …. Been doing this over 20 years helps too lol

    Super slow actually the tapping finger pulls off and lets the 5th fret ring out before the 7th fret is hammered on. Slow the video down and you'll see. The slow examples are a different descending melody to the fast examples which do as I've just described. I noticed this myself when I was learning before I saw this. Worth realising to see what your fingers are doing. This is still a helpful video, thank you!

  • @croccustom

    Here is the problem. No body tells you how to set up your amp so the tapping is more dominant. So what is confusing is your strings are so sensitive that the continue to hum when you hold down your finger. How do you get you guitar to do that?

    • @jasonstallworth
      @jasonstallworth  6 місяців тому

      That really comes down to being consistent, doing this over and over. You will eventually be able to play without string noise. I do have some tips for preventing string noise in this video: ua-cam.com/video/4Oyam8IRv2A/v-deo.html

    Jason, the last 2 Minutes youre talking about should be the first lesson for every beginner. We all made the same mistakes when we where young, especially because all my friends where musicians, we had different bands, all male, and where in an sometimes unhealthy competition, because thats what young men (and maybe women) do when they have a hobby....they compare their peens. The guy who had the name "speedy fingerz" when i was young, dont progressed at all in the last 20 years. hes still fast, but quickness is the first thing which degrades when you get older, but he still dont know anything about writing a good lick, he still dont know the fretboard. But we where envy with 18....gosh.
    And youre right. When youre a shredder, youre audience is full of other guitarists. Its a pure salamiparty. The whole front row waits for a mistake you make, so they can say "hes not that good (im better)". UA-cam and influencers like bernth give us the illusion that everyone is a superfast god. No. Its the same with other hobbies. Most of the guys out there arent the best archers, painters or chefs. UA-cam isnt real. Instagram isnt the reality. If you take someone like bernth as a goal, you will hit the wall very fast. Its fresh that a normal metal guy explains how learning works, especially when you start or restart over 30 or 40. Look at the guys who made music history....most of them are no superfast shredders, even kirk hammett or dave mustain. The solos i remember are something like dire straits. I know only one band where the solos where awesome and shreddy.....children of bodom. and they where big in the metal scene, especially here in germany and scandinavia, but never that famous. Look at the guys who fill stadiums. Sabaton has barely any solo. Amon Amarth has barely any solo. But they groove. Rhytm is more important to catch the audience than 500213502 notes.
