    having natural hair is definitely not for the faint of heart. I admire you pushing through and actually getting your hair, especially when you don’t feel like it. You are a wonderful human even on your bad days. Can’t wait to watch tomorrow’s episode.

    Dear Tazhi, as a mom, trust me, she's wanting you to call her for her to do your hair! I absolutely love when my adult son calls me to retwist his hair! It becomes our special time and we catch up on life...the good, the bad and the ugly.
    I love your chaotic energy, and I love your transparency.
    Sometimes we have to "force" ourselves to take care of ourselves just so we can feel better.
    I love you, and I'm sending you spare spoons!❤❤❤❤

    Natural hair peeps, rejoice! I've been natural sonce 2003. I'm of the sane mindset of "Don't touch my hair" and my mental health status is most noticable by my hair. Glad to see you sharing this part of your life ❤❤❤❤

    You're hair is a massive commitment.
    It's so lovely that you don't want to put any more on your mum with all she's dealing with. As a mum, I'm gonna tell you, I'd want to help you regardless. For many reasons, including that quality time together xoxo

    I hope your self care day and the surprise of time with a dear friend added a few spoons to your drawer. I hope you can take more time for you this week, even if you don’t video or post. We'll all live, and enjoy seeing you when you return. The state of your head and your tender heart is more important than anything. ❤️ harpingJanet

    I'm so proud of you doing the hair care thing. I don't know why but it's always the worst when mental health gets bad. Also, that meal at the end looks fantastic!

    Those are the happiest socks I think I've ever seen! I dream of the day when I can catch a mellyknits update. I am dying for some of those delicious looking batts.
    It was lovely to see your hair care/self care day. Thanks for taking us along! The struggle to take care of yourself, the multiple times where you think about just giving up and doing something that feels less exhausting and insurmountable is so real and so relatable. I'm glad you were able to do this for yourself.

    I look forward to your vlogmas posts. Those Pooh socks are awesome. You have helped me choose THE perfect jingle gift for a coworker. A leather bound journal with old timey paper and a beautiful set of D & D dice. He's going to love it, thank you for that!

    Have you ever done a locs bath in a tub? I used to do it when I had locs and it was so luxurious and the shea butters from my locs that would seep into the water made my skin feel great. Said tub needed a serious scrubbing when it was over though so that was the downside

    To be fair I wash my hair far less than the average person, I use a bar shampoo and dry shampoo as needed. My partner does their's about 4x a year with cornstarch/dry shampoo etc. There is a lot of stigma about hair no matter kind of hair you have and in the end it comes down to what works good for you and feels good for you.
    For some people means they need to wash it every day, For others a few months is not odd at all.
    I am glad you found the spoons because it was bothering you, but definitely know there are people out there who don't judge how long its been with its weeks or months; whether its because of low spoons, mental health, or choice,

    Tazhi, love how real you are ♥ A good cry in the shower (or in my case - fully in the street) when life is just a bit much can always happen. It's good to let it out and flow.
    The Traveller Shawl has totally got me looking at my fiber stash to see what combo spins I can make to wrap up in that goodness. I managed to get two glorious batts of Melly's in her last update of pure Merino (Marion) and I now know why everyone is always rubbing their face in it! SO SOFT! I'm debating if I want to keep it pure or add it to the spin, but I'm letting my excitement simmer before I decide.
    p.s. LOVE those clips too. I used to do pin-up hairstyles for fun and getting those pincurls up is a lot on your bicepts! I hope you find sleep and spoons to gather strength for all the spins you dream of. ♥

      Melly batts are special and I’m so glad you have one to cuddle close! Fiber like that helps to string me along and help me hold it together.

    I appreciate that you’re an early morning person. I’m up at 4:30 most mornings to restart the fire in the wood stove. My favorite time of day because it’s quiet, I’m the 1st one up & I can be in my own thoughts. ❤

    Girl I’m totally with you about my hair. I’ve been natural for about 8yrs and I love my hair. My daughter ended up going natural because of seeing me doing it and we totally bonded over it too.❤ When she was at work she had a stranger lean over the counter and grabbed her braids! Talking about totally out raged. I am curious as to if you could just let your hair air dry? I know mine does take all day.

      My love are too thick at this point and when I try to let them air dry, they’re still wet the next day and I worry about mold so the endless dryer time. Also, I love this story!

    hey there! I have meaning to comment for months to say that I just LOVE your content. All of it. Your online presence is just such a perfect combination of creative cozy chaos. I often get inspiration for things to knit or sew, and now I find myself trying, trying, trying to spin on this evil little wooden spindle. Still solidly in the frustration zone of the learning curve of spinning. But thanks for sending out your youness into the universe, it is making my human experience better. (Your hair looks amazing btw. )

      @stitchesandstarlight  8 місяців тому

      Thank you so much for taking the time out to leave a comment! I’m so glad you’ve started spinning and wish you as seamless of a get to know you process with your evil spindle as possible - it’ll get better, I promise.

    Hey hey, random question, do you write the same thing for each ink swatch you make? My nosy Brain wants to know.
    See you tomorrow!

    • @stitchesandstarlight
      @stitchesandstarlight  8 місяців тому

      Yup - I write the time of the ink and then a pangram, I’m using the standard one “the quick brown fox jumps over the last dog” but I might change it up in the future.

      @@stitchesandstarlightLAZY dog! This has been bugging me for days. Otherwise, I am so in awe of your penmanship (penpersonship?) and the beauty your swatch pages - works of art. Personally, I like the flat head situation. But then, I always thought I looked my best with a head full of highlighting tinfoil…

    Tazhi? You should absolutely do what's right for you and your relationship with your Mom...but as a Mom? Even if she's trying to put her house in order and she's busy and feeling overwhelmed? She still wants to be with her child. So you should call your mom and let her do your hair again. Not because you can't do it yourself, you totally can, but because love is usually spelled t-i-m-e and she just wants to see you and spend time with you. Hug your mom for all of us, and spend some time with her and let her take care of you a little bit. (My kids are growing up and needing me a lot less and it's fine, I'm happy for them to be independent...but it doesn't mean I don't miss them and still want to nurture them a little bit. Even when I'm busy and stressed out.)
