Another thing that should be added that kinda adds a bit of hilarity: So you know how Supergiant uploaded the Hades 2 OST to their channel? Yeah that shit got an automatic claim. UA-cams Copyright system is just shitty, and has been for years. False or flat out not legal claims are sadly the norm

Wow. I... it is so damn frustrating how easy it is to utilize UA-cam's own tools to illegally screw over others. I am still blown away by Supergiant's response to the situation - and they've earned themselves a lifelong supporter as a result.
@@greydaygames My focus is accessibility. I want more options so more of us disabled people can play. Audio cues, control options, UI stuff and the like. Same starting line, y'know? Been doing it for 10 years. Got a lot of updoots on their discord and reddit so fingers crossed their people see the suggestions. Accessibility does NOT begin or end with easy mode and a colorblind filter. There's ways to weave it in to benefit everyone.

@@greydaygames whiles its VERY frustrating when UA-cams systems get abused, what makes it more frustrating is when you learn its not even youtubes fault, see youtube needs an easy to abuse system because based on current copyright law the system youtube has in place is, well legally gray at best, the legal way of handling things is in court, and that method still stands and is legally valid for any copyright owner to use, so UA-cam needs an easy to abuse system so some greedy giant corpo doesn't decide "you know what no, were not using UA-cams built in copyright systems, were just suing youtube for hosting our copyrighted content" and once 1 company pulls that trigger and wins against youtube, you know damn well many others will follow suit, so youtube needs a system so easy to abuse that no company thinks to sue youtube instead, if a company decided that youtubes system was to convoluted or took to long then they would probably just take youtube to court

In a recent video of Greg Kasavin and Amir Rao answering questions on Hades 2, they half jokingly described their games as delivery methods for Darren Kobe’s music. I was drawn to this video since I e been a super fan of Supergiant since Pyre’s release and was shocked at the idea of someone beefing with them given their stellar track record
It was a shock that this happened and was more an issue with UA-cam. That’s why I felt so stupid and guilty for my overreaction. It was an oversight and a byproduct of my growing distrust of the gaming industry as a whole. That’s why I felt compelled to make this video. To admit my mistake and offering my first hand account of a developer actually caring. Thanks for the comment!
It happened to another famous hades content creator halien too. There's some other company going around fraudulently claiming supergiant's music. They've been fixing it as soon as possible.
Supergiant Games has done an incredible job every step of the way. Hades II is great. They're proactively protecting their community. They're listening to players and updating the game in incredible ways. All for a game that is a fraction of the cost of AAA games. After this situation, I back Supergiant Games 100%.

Well, that's a lesson on trying research and contacting before firing the shots. Glad it was sorted out! 😁👍 The moment I heard the word "claimed" my first thought was "it's UA-cam's algorithm claiming stuff again". This happens fairly often even though you can go years with that never happening to a channel. And then when it happens once it's like the algorithm puts the channel on some watchlist and it happens again and again. Happens a bunch to reaction channels when they start getting bigger.
I respect you for emitting to your mistakes and I Indie devs will almost always be a lot chiller the with copy right because it’s the actual people and those people that have the passion are the ones making the decision instead of greedy executives you see it here with supergiant and it can be seen a lot with Toby fox such as with the whole undertale yellow stuff and my personal favorite, him telling the UA-camr alpharad that he could just remake date start ( the song alpharad uses for his sponsor section) and tell the sponsors that he ( as in alpharad) made the song and you can that story out there if you don’t believe me

🤔 I was just talking to my husband how supergiant is incredibly good at scoping, and using their resources responsibly. Even though they were SUPER successful with Hades og, they didn't overreach nor overgrew. They kept small and probably saved the money for rainy days. Can you imagine what would 've happen if Dx it was owned by corpo?

copyright is often done by the publisher or the original copyright holder (producer). big aaa game companies love flagging videos with modern vgm. but supergiant publishes their own games which gives them sharp control over the copyright.
I agree. It was to my surprise that an independently published game with original music written solely for the game (and ODT) would claim on let’s play VODs. We were right! Supergiant didn’t want that! The most amazing thing was their response to my and other more popular creators. Their response to me served no benefit to them. They did it anyway. Thank for posting this video - I've been a game dev for a while but I'm honestly out of touch and trying to get my head around the new landscape I've found myself in :-) I'm still getting used to the idea of streamers and Let's Play videos so I have no idea what is or isn't frustrating from that perspective so I find stuff like this helpful. I am also curious about this AAA greed/tension thing that's emerged (made AAA back in the day but I've been on mobile for a while after the last big crash in 2013). It's like I turned around and everyone suddenly hates each other.
When developers answer to publishers, they’re working to make the stockholder happy. An indie dev is working to please the player. There are exceptions. Just not very often in my recent experience.

@@greydaygames not everyone has jumped into the game immediately given it's early access and only on steam and not everyone has progressed far enough to see certain parts of the game. while it obviously wasn't your intention to spoil i think it is worth putting spoiler warnings for this game for anything beyond what is shown in the promotional material because i know i'd be annoyed if i was spoiled on what the 2nd or 3rd boss was

I got popped in a Hades 1 video. The song Eurydice sings? "Good Riddance?" It was claimed by a FAN REMIX of all things. I was unbelievably pissed off!

Supergiant is a beautiful studio and I hope never ever joins a AAA publisher. They'd get shutdown like Tango Gameworks.
