supergiant really struck the lottery getting jen zee and darren korb. those two singlehandedly produced all of the artwork and music for all of their titles and they're so good at it. edit: and logan and ashley too omg they're so talented

Letting devs work from their home and constantly proving how good the result of their work is - we love to see it, this is something that some big companies don't allow anymore unfortunately
I am not sure if it changed after covid, but before that, they had 4 work days in office and 1 day of home office. I think its matter of preference. Some people like working from home and some prefer to have separated their work space and recreation space. For example me, I cant have those 2 togather and even though I dont work office job, I was in school during covid and this setting really didnt work for me

Sad to see the empty instrument stand on the wall there. As I recall, some of Darren's instrument was stolen when their office got was breached during Covid.

Darren do have personal studio at his home where he records during Covid. And it's logical to keep them there where he might need them.
Supergiant Games and Vanillaware (in Japan) are my heroes because they always remind me to stick to what you're good at and what you love, even if it's a niche because at the end, it needs just ONE idea that will make your niche a massive success. Vanillaware, founded by George Kamitani, had big failures in his career and went nearly bankrupt. But at his and his very small team's lowest, they made Odin Sphere and that pathed them the way as one of the leading 2D game producers with breathtaking, hand drawn graphics, ethereal music and beautiful storytelling. These two studios' stories are so inspirational to me.
I love that they've embraced the ability to work from home to the point that even their audio director can do it, but still have a nice comfortable office for them to come to should they need it. And those games in the welcoming area; top tier stuff. Seeing even Yuri's Revenge made me smile so wide.

Yes! Greg isn't the only Gamespot alum who's made a career writing award winning games, either! Kevin VanOrd went to Larian after being inspired by Divinity: Original Sin. He ended up writing some on the sequel, and was Lae'zel's primary writer in Baldur's Gate 3.

Darren Korb is a music genius. I recently started playing Hades II and right from the start menu the music is fantastic. The Hades soundtrack playlist is my go to when I read, so I could not wait for II to come out. I just knew it's gonna have banger music.

If you want some estimates, this is (off the top of my head) what the Hades1 Early Access Steam Launch didn't have yet, that was added either during EA or at 1.0.: >Demeter (+ Boons) >Fishing >Hades 3rd Phase Heat Option >anything to do with Persephone and the 10runs you need to complete to see the credits >some Mirror Upgrades >the Gun Weapon >Duo Boons (i think) >post credits storylines for each character >Charons Optional Boss Fight >more Customization Options >some Weapons Aspects >Achievements >MANY bug fixes and balances changes that should give you an idea of how much there still was to see back in the original Hades, and I'm assuming it will be a comparable amount of new stuff for Hades 2 as well.
@Bruno-cb5gk It was in the Steam Early Access Release that came 1 year after the Epic Games Early Access. And they said that the current Hades2 Build is closer to how complete Hades1 was at the Steam release. Also I remembered, different boss variations also got added later.
Hades 2 still doesn't have Secret Aspects, at least 1 more surface floor (probably 2?), rewards for maxing out relationships (since you can't yet!), Extreme Measures versions of bosses, Hard mode from fresh file, 1 more weapon they're already working on, decoration options for The Crossroads... not to mention all the story, game balance, and whatever other gods or boons they're planning to include. And that's all the stuff that either was in the original or is already explicitly in development. Only the Gods know what they're cooking in secret for way down the line.
Diablo 2, my favorite game of all time. Now it all makes sense. The passion shines bright from you guys, so glad to participate in the early access of Hades 2 and look forward to what you have in store for the future!

I know work from home is cool and all but this is kinda sad to me. A bunch of empty desks, the instruments are not there anymore. You could feel this was a pretty special place but now only a handful of people are there. Sucks.
Everything from Supergiant has been of the top notch quality. And you should check out their youtube channel for their OST. Darren Korb's work on their OST is some of the very best in game industry, and they release all of them for free in the channel. I still end up getting OST for all their game even though I can enjoy them for free.
I've only played the Hades series, but I can assure you what I've seen and heard their entire catalogue is top quality. If you can only pick one though, I would choose one of the Hades games. The new one even in early access feels like a complete game, especially if you compare it to the normal releases we get nowadays in the industry. Aside from the extremely satisfying gameplay, the storytelling, art direction, and game music are just some of the best I've ever experienced. Of course, as I mentioned, I think their entire catalogue is the same way (I just don't have first hand experience)

The art is exceptional... I'm not sure what exactly you're seeing that isn't up to your standards. There is still several placeholders however, just like is clearly stated in the launch screen when you boot up the game.

Something about Artemis's portrait seems unfinished and another character (who I won't mention due to spoilers) is clearly a messy sketch at the moment. It's still not a fair judgement because the game is in early early access. 🤷♀️

I'd strongly reccomend watching the NoClip Documentary on how Hades was made. Such a great Dev team with some great personalities.
They also documented the making of their first game - Bastion - on Giant Bomb. It's a great watch.
