Couple things, you need to rotate eggs back and forth, not all the way around. Lower the humidity, you will have a much better experience with dry hatching. Weighing eggs isn't necessary, they lose weight regardless of hatchability.

Thank you for the tips! If I ever try again, I'll add that to my notes. Fortunately I was able to get live chicks last year, so I won't need to hatch.

I feel your pain. I bought 5 of them from different sellers on Ebay and it's about time to hatch now and I'm not seeing any signs. The financial loss is only a small portion of the pain I'm feeling. Like you said, the time and the hopes of having them is what kills me. I went as far as to buy the entire fencing & housing for what I already know is 5 dead eggs it doesn't feel very good. It was probably a 1 shot deal for me because in my location in Southern Ohio there isn't anyone near here as I know of that has chicks. I figured that with 5 eggs hopefully 1 would hatch but no such luck. My Sellers were great with packing and shipping but it just didn't work out.

It is a really hard thing to wait and wait so long with no way to tell. I did see a seller in Iowa On Ebay right now, I don't know if that is too far a drive. We'll be going 8 hours one way to get a chick next year, just because I don't think I want go through the unknowns of incubation. Make a road trip out of it. I sure hope you have good luck. My thoughts are with you.

I'm currently in the same boat. I bought 9 eggs to hatch from different sellers. So far, 3 eggs have gone bad. no peeping or any noise coming out of them, but I do feel them lean when I rotate the eggs. I still have 6 in the incubator and about 7-10 more days to go. I'm also located in Ohio and so far, I haven't found any breeder or seller close to me. if this fails, I'll definitely try again.

Shipped eggs are way less likely to hatch , look locally.

Yeah, eBay was a total flop for me. There are groups on Facebook that are more reliable for eggs. And LESSON - you threw away a perfectly good egg. The silver lining of an infertile egg is their biology is AMAZING. Even after sitting, heated, for sixty days or more, an emu egg is perfectly good to eat - and a single feeds about four average people for breakfast. We don’t see wiggles until around Day 49. Chirping at 51 or 52. And so on. This is nature after all, and the emus don’t read the rules.

I ended up driving 8 hours one way to get live chicks. Now, they are two years old, and for their first breeding season this winter I got 45 eggs! Such a stunning source of protein, enough for a big family! 😋
