This is my gripe with remakes in general. If they add nothing other than "improving" the graphics, then what is the point. All of these extra costumes could have and indeed should have been included in the base anniversary edition; maybe even add some exploration, alignment or renown locks behind them e.g. you have to become Jack of Blades in order to get his suit.
I feel that. Especially since the remake was already a full price game and basically just had "different" graphics. Its hard to even really say they are improved tbh. Giving us the armors for free is the least they can do. I will say that the PC version of anniversary does seem to give you them all for free now.
I like how the thunder helm says pre owned cause he had to sell his armor after losing twice xD or someone looted his corpse after you steal his soul. Either way absolutely beautiful
And it would be interesting story wise. Imagine travelling to Hook Coast to protect the people from the Snow Troll. People would already know you further down the story so they'd feel more willing to leave the village for you to activate the Fire Heart as they trust and more you already. Same thing goes for Minion Camp quest in Knothole Glade. It would enrich the story and give you connection to people on those isolated islands. It never made sense that those people ever hear of you before you travel there, and those quests would provide good ground for those people to trust you to protect them from Balverines and Minions/Blue robot things.
glad to help the fable redux mod is a really good option, it gives you I think either all or most of what this DLC gives you (for free) as well as a bunch of other cut content re added to the game
@PTMG I'm on the series s so unfortunately no mods for me, I'll get a PC eventually specifically for things like this. Been a big fable fan since it came out and always wondered about cut content
Mate, there is more work than you think. They can't just put the models that already exist on another character. They need to model it from scratch, create the textures again, and try to make it as similar as possible to a 3D asset that was made by another team with different capabilities and renderings 20 years ago. After all that, they need to rig the clothes to the character's rig. At this point, they may have already invested 100 hours into this, which might be a reason why they didn't make it better. In the final steps, they adjust the lighting and shading. At this point, you can't go back and start from scratch again.
It's definitely work but it's a lot less work than you are giving credit for. Don't forget, solo modders, i.e. a team of one usually, managed to bust these out for the original game (the lost chapters non anniversary), maybe not every single outfit, but most of the iconic ones, jack of blades, thunder , etc. and not only were they able to do it alone, but it is quite literally a copy and paste job. The way textures work in this game, you literally can just copy and paste the textures/texture files and apply them to clothing. Weapons are even easier, and straight up are just more or less checking a box to let the player equip them. unreal engine port may change some of this idk. but the point is that bored children managed to figure it out for free 15 years ago, and these guys are charging more than the game costs to let you dress up as jack of blades essentially.
@@PTMG You know, it's kinda interesting why modders from 15 years ago pulled off stuff that today's pros might find tricky. One big factor is the way textures and rendering settings work in different programs. Back in the day, when those modders were starting out, they didn't have all the fancy tools and technology that today's developers have. Here's the kicker: creating textures and setting up rendering is heavily dependent on the software you're using. And guess what? That software has come a long way. The textures and rendering settings they used back then might be totally different from what today's game engines need. So, those modders from back then might've figured out solutions that rocked in their specific software, but those tricks might not translate seamlessly to today's game development. Pros today have to deal with super complex and modern game engines that have unique requirements and tweaks. Plus, the gaming industry has evolved big time. Games now demand way more in terms of graphics and detail. That just adds to the challenge when you're trying to transfer clothing and textures onto new characters or rigs. In a nutshell, the gap between modders from back then and today's professional developers is a mix of skills, know-how, software, and the more demanding nature of modern gaming. It's all part of how game development has evolved over time, and why certain aspects of the modding experience from 15 years ago might not be a piece of cake to replicate today.
Intersting thing with the Heros pack...some of the stuff in it was cut content from the original release of TLC. Super weird they didn't just include it Microsuck just being Microsuck....the Clucking Hammer and the Wasp weapon for examples.
@@PTMG oh I couldn’t agree more I was pissed off as well like you said they took the communities work and made it their own. If they would of made some new different armour from scratch then I could justify them charging a bit for it. But what they did is BS for sure.
If they tied some of the bigger armor and weapon pieces into the world or into a quest, I'd respect it a little more. But they decided to make it buyable with real world money, THEN in game money. Kinda shitty, but such is the state of the gaming world
Ridiculous was going to buy the anniversary, but now that I know it's not ALL dlc included..I'm good. Thunders armor is the only thing I wanted and im not paying $8 for it.
yeah definitely not worth it If you can catch it on the super steam sale and got like 5$ to waste it's not too bad but still pretty bad when you consider there's free mods out right now that contain most of this lol
I think with this DLC Extension , they wouldve revolutionized this game if all the "skins" they give you wouldve given extra power by example swords that change your combo or game play , staffs that increase your spell damages or give you extra spells totally unique or armour givin you extra toughness versus a specific type of monster you know ? That way givin' in 25 USD wouldve been way more "cheated" and insteresting to stop by !
I dont have any qualms really with the DLC at its core (other than maybe ruining the game by making endgame content too accessible) It's mostly just the price point honestly But it also just feels like a lazy re-use of existing assets, so charging money for it seems kinda weird. I mean you are talking about shit that more or less already exists in game, at least on a texture level, and they are charging money so you can wear the stuff too.
@@PTMG I mean , instead of copy and paste and re-use the work of someone without doing nothing more , they could at least have done something more like giving extra skills by using this mod
I remember, like ten years ago from now, playing Fable: Anniversary. I got to Oakvale, saw the pirate outfit and the Minecraft hat and stopped playing. I haven't went back ever since. Best £50 of my life...
Man, thanks for remembering the game of our childhood, though it was Fable The Lost Chapters. I consider it to be way better than Baldur's Gate 3, since it has an amazing antagonist - Jack of Blades. Unlike BG3 having only 5 minutes of antagonist screen time, 5 minutes Karl!\ Games used to have soul back in the old days ... God bless you bro, and everyone reading this comment! Amen!
Can you elaborate on changing the apprentice robe texture to look like graduate? I dont know where these files are or what the name of the apprentice robe WITHOUT the hood. I just want graduate robe with no hood. Also, is it possible to edit armor stats?
Not sure how to do it in anniversary, but in the original you could edit pretty much any texture file by opening it in paint or something and changing the colors
It's in my Steam shopping cart RIGHT NOW. Thanks for posting this bcc I love Fable from Original Xbox and just discovered modding so do I really even need this garbage? In their defense, you are paying for the convenience and time it would take to mod it yourself.
kinda true I guess, but you don't actually have to make the mod yourself it already exists There's one mod you can download, the Fable anniversary redux mod that contains everything the DLC has, and a bunch of other cut content (and some content they missed like other NPC weapons) and it's all free and in one mod.
yeah its pretty ridiculous at its full price Not too insane if you get it on sale for a few dollars each like I did, but still I'm pretty sure most of the good stuff in there is available with mods
It doesn't have much to do with the video, but when i saw the Sophia's Sword in 16:16, i remeber a weird glitch that happened with me in the 360 version of the game, i was just walking arround in Bowerstone south, and then my wife give the that sword as a gift, and i was like wtf did just happened here, because a never bought any dlc in the 360, i never managed to this glitch to occur again. I don't know if the dlc are already coded in the 360 version, and you buy they just for unlocking stuff, or if is a game version glitch.
I grew up playing Fable and I have a biased view when I look back at it because of nostalgia. Fable was amazing for a 6 year old kid growing up and it still holds up even by today's standards. As I was growing up, I got more critical and I learned a few things about this game. Peter Molineux, the creative director behind the game was a con man who basically lied on his application and managed to become lead of the project for a large company (at the time). Eventhough I always loved the game, people expected so much more because of what Molineux was promising constantly and setting these absurdly high expectations. I'm sure one of the reasons I love it as it is was because I never got my expectations hyped, they were basically at 0. Everyone else was expecting super sophisticated features that wouldn't have been possible to implement back in 2004. Biggest example is the meaningful choices. That was promised, and instead, Fable had a really linear narrative that was on the rails from the start. There's not much meaningful choice that have a big impact on the story or even the direction of where the story will go. Evil or good, it really just affects how villagers behave to you... and even becoming evil or good doesn't feel like it holds weight. Why? Because you can become instantly evil by sacrificing people at the Chapel of Skorm at midnight OR become a instantly good by glitching your donations again and again at the Temple of Avo. It's not that Fable is flawed, I think as it is since 2004, it can compete with games that are coming out today even. The customization was really in-depth, I loved the outfits, the fact that you can have different beards AND moustaches, the tattoos and the visual effects of levelling up. Combat was actually really fucking good. The spells were all super dope, most games that try to implement magic don't succeed the way Fable did. I'd go so far as to say Fable has some of the best spells in a melee combat game. See, my problem is that Fable kept getting subjectively worse with each installment. Fable 2 was good and it really tried to innovate in another direction but it was not nearly as good as TLC. Needless to say, Fable 3 was objectively worse and everyone disliked 3 . They never stuck to what they were doing right, they didn't capitalize on the fun parts of what made Fable good. And what baffles e even more is how they were removing the good bits whilst they were adding the new boring bits. I'm not gonna mention the spinoffs. At the bottom of it all, Lionhead studios was always trying to make a buck in the shittiest ways possible. Their costume DLCs were always overpriced, reskins of models in game or low effort unique content that didn't add much. Cheap worthless shit. As a company, Lionhead studios was shitty in the same way Bethesda is. Take this artificial price cutting for example. They made all this DLC at a ridiculous price for the effort it's worth, so when they put it on a 80% sale, people will think they're getting a bargain when they buy $5 of shit that's originally meant to be $5 or even free. What we can see with the DLC items you bought is pretty much all reskinned content or shit plagiarized from modders like you said. What was funny is that there were a lot of sad posts on forums and boards that were mourning Lionhead studios when it shutdown. People attributed their nostalgia to them being a good company. They ran the franchise into the ground, pissed on the corpse afterwards by making shitty spinoffs (Fable legends), and then brought Fable TLC back from the dead just to fuck it up again. I don't understand why they're penny pinching from their own fans' pockets by putting this low-effort DLC out. Is it really worth the reputation hit? Even if Lionhead sucks, Fable is good and you should learn to respect the art even if you don't respect the artist. Really long comment, but after watching your vid all the way through, I get the feel you're the type of person who loves Fable alot and goes into discussions in depth. Not expecting an equally lengthy answer back but I'd appreciate it nonetheless :)
Solid comment, mate. Fable 1, although easy af, just had that feeling you can't describe. It was magic 2 was... a letdown. 3 was... wtf.... I REALLY hope 4 delivers.
@@DefeatLust Fable was always easy now that I look back at it. And the funny thing is that it just kept getting easier. I dunno if 4 will deliver though. It's made by an entirely different company now since Lionhead is gone. It might be a good game but it likely won't be a "fable" game, you know what I mean? Like, the identity of the game died with lionhead whether for good or bad, if anyone else tries to make fable then it won't really be fable. Happens with most game IPs that get picked up by another company. I don't have high hopes, I feel it's going to be a totally new, different game that just stripped the skin off of the Fable franchise's corpse and wears it to claim its identity
Can't really claim it's community based content when these elements were present in the game to begin with, stuff like prophets robes (they don't look proper either may I mention, they are missing the scroll like detailing around the hood) jack of blades armor etc were already presented in the game, it's not really stealing if any person can go and make it, now if they straight up used someone else's model or something that'd be another story. But should they have charged for any of this? NO it is just genuinely reskins for the most part, most of them being inaccurate to what they're actually supposed to be (all guard armor, prophet robes which I already mentioned) they added stuff like aeons armor to just completely bypass archon armor, most of the new sets are just dumbass jokey shit like lady grey's costume for a male hero, the wasp outfit..... the WASP OUTFIT! All in all the dlcs are pretty shit, I literally only value them for stuff like Thunder and JoB's armor which feels weird to wear anyway cause you're just copying someone else lol
mods are the definition of community based content I'm not saying they did the modelling work, I'm saying they are the ones that ported the playable armor sets into the game to begin with mods / community created content / community based content /community workshop content are all just synonyms of the same thing They are taking something that the community already did 15 years ago for free with zero resources, and trying to make money off of it; and it's cringey and pathetic lmfao
@@PTMG its not plagiarism though, everything that was made available by modders was originally made by lionhead, just because they made it easier for those who don't want to mod game files doesn't count as plagiarism.
Do you know if it's possible to get into Bargate Prison early? I've been trying the Summon-Assassin Rush glitch but can't get past The Circle Of The Dead
I don't think you can get past circle of the dead cause it's an actual activate door, not a door that swings open to a load zone "normal" doors (that swing open to a load zone, like the bowerstone south entrance etc.) you can glitch through them, and your character will touch the load zone trigger and it will load the next area Even if you could glitch past the circle of the dead door, there isn't a "load zone" on the other side of it so nothing would happen. It's a scripted door that loads the next zone when you press "activate" on it. So if the game won't let you activate the door, you can't load the zone. The game won't let you activate the door unless you have finished the circle of the dead quest, so that ends up being the end of the line as far as assassin rush glitches go. You can use save manipulation/etem mode to get there early technically, but I feel like this hardly counts since it basically requires you to have already beat that portion of the game on a different save file. You are essentially loading world info from one hero, onto a different hero (or an earlier save of the same hero)
@@EnchantingWings1 You can get past the Demon Door in the Lynchfield Graveyard. Been a while so I forgot the names, but the furthest I was able to go was to Nostro's arena.
Xbox ultimate should include ALL OF this bs...tbh LIONSGATE is under new hands, so the content in fable 1, and DLC content in moral stand point.. they don't really own, and never have. They bought it after all assets were made, so all these DLC should be free if you bought a $35 20 year old game. Anniversary is a celebration not a Expo.
Pretty awesome that 20yrs later people are still playing Fable. I started with Fable 1 on Xbox360 a few months ago and now I'm on Fable 2. Got the games super cheap on Ebay. I was thinking about also buying Fable Anniversary but if you say there isn't anything new except weapons and clothing then I'll skip it. Do the graphics in your video look better because the graphics were improved or is it because you are playing it on a PC. Question to people commenting on this video, I'm curious what the ages of players are, I'm 52 and still playing, gamer generation I guess......
The graphics are definitely better on PC, but also its also because they improved the graphics Even the original version of the game looks much better on PC compared to console
Aeon's battle armour should be something you get for killing Teresa to get the sword. Possibly make you look absolutely terrifying/fugly as a side affect of it being some of the best armour in the game. Just a thought.
my only problem with something like that, is that when I buy DLC, ideally I'd like it to just be added to my inventory, and I already found it vaguely annoying that I had to wander aimlessly to track down all the DLC items. If they at the very least told you exactly where to get everything that would almost make up for it tho
@@PTMG I actually disagree. What's the point of adding content for free that would otherwise break the game from the get go with overpowered items? I think adding quest cards for these items, possibly link them into existing quests to make the game more interesting, such as the wasp weapon as a reward for killing the wasp queen for an example. As you said in the video, some of the armour sets/weapons made existing weapons and armour sets obsolete just by being buyable from the Bowerstone shop. Having these items as quest rewards would stave that off.
imo most of it doesn't break the game in this case I think the aeon armor is the only thing that is stronger than base platemail, which is already obtainable right off the bat easy fix for that is to just put it in hook coast or something instead of bowerstone so you can't get it till late game
While I agree that nobody should buy any of these unless you are on console and REALLY want something, saying they plagiarized a mod isn't true. Like you said they are the ones who created the original textures for the armor and weapons, not the modder. Sure the modder did this first and this is clearly a quick cash grab, but the modder isn't the one who put in the effort of making the original textures themselves if they just resized them. They made the armor in the first place and have the right to make wearable version, people doing that for free before them doesn't change that. But like I said, I still hate that they expect us to pay for this crap.
to clarify, plagiarism and copyright are two different things just because they own/created the origin textures doesnt mean they are incapable of plagiarizing someone elses work, which happens to use their assets
Man, this is so lame.... I was hoping for some new extra quest lines, bosses, mini bosses, etc etc. Whatever, great video though. Btw, you pumped for Fable 4? Some information suggests Oct 2023 or early 2024 release
Not that the DLC itself is bad, it's just not a good value since those things are all available as mods for free. With the exception of some of the dumb stuff like the wasp outfit and wasp hammer and similar garbage, all the other stuff such as enemy armor/weapons or other hero armor/weapons is available as mods for the most part The fable anniversary redux mod I did a series on for instance, gives you almost all of the DLC stuff, plus some extra stuff the DLC didn't have, including some content that was cut from the original game
Apart of me wants to complain and say it’s highway robbery to pay for extra clothing with them even being the equivalent of 10 dollars per DLC. Another part of me wants to say that there are worser things that you need to buy for certain games. The best example I can say off the top of my head is metal survive and having to buy a save slot. I’m not even joking on that.
God i miss the plate armor from fable 1 loved getting the dark plate armor wear no helmet with my jack of blades mask on course play evil so u can just biy every building in the game and hike the rent can i also say the legendary weapons in yhe first game where fucking amazing then they went to shit the other games also anybody else that would do the beserker trick where u activate it save quit come back and your character would be huge course dident add any stats but judt was fun to be lioe double the size and feel like u had to walk sideways through doors lol
My issue is that there is no reason this stuff couldn’t have just been included with the anniversary edition of them game. Some of the stuff is cool but is useless 4 hours into the game
yeah I agree, especially since a lot of this stuff existed before anniversary existed, as mods for TLC Coulda been a cool throwback to some of the old community mods, but instead they decided to cash grab
They have made the combat much harder than in the original xbox360 version which I played when it came out. I just bought this version for my xbox 1x yesterday and the combat is noticeably harder which I don't like. I play games for fun not to be made angry because I am being cheated. If you play the game normally then you can't max out everything by the end of the game. On the original version I found out you can start the Arena and then quit after the first few waves and still keep all your points. Not got to that stage in this version so I don't know if that still happens. What did happen yesterday is I died doing the Seeress quest travelling along to the bandit camp. I'd earned thousands of points and lost the lot, really makes me so angry that that can happen. The last time the game saved was one hour earlier. You also can't do this quest and then leave before the end to spend your points which is complete bullshit. So it doesn't bode well for the Arena points grind on the xbox360 original version.
All versions of the game are the same, except the PC version which has heroic mode option (a harder difficulty setting) But all versions of Anniversary are actually easier than the original "Fable The Lost Chapters" because of some scripting issues that don't have enemies re spawning when they should (like in trader rescue) but also an issue that causes enemies to almost completely ignore your follower (like hobbe cave quest, hobbes wont attack the kid just you, and also again in trader rescue the bandits wont attack the traders)
There are multiple ways to max your character before doing anything, I literally have a starter save with all stats maxed and all items,m though for that one I did use etem glitch, but even aside that with menu manipulation alone you can max your character completely save for one stat or spell, it's really trivial once you learn about it, do some research
The part where you need to chill is... the things the modder gave us were actually games assets made by lionshead, 2 not everyone knows how to install mods, 3rd not everyone plays on pc and is able to install mods. Ill give you points for the price though, its very overpriced
yeah for xbox it makes more sense since there is no other way but the person who made the assets is neither here nor there, we are talking about assets that are already made and in the game. Something like Thunders sword, already exists as an in game asset/model, and simply just needs to be made equipable. It's so easy that people with zero developer experience were able to make it into a mod for free. To take something so simple, that already exists, and to try to package it and sell it, is a scam. It implies that someone put in hard work to make it, and deserves to get paid for that work, which isn't true. They got paid to make it when I bought the game, because that model was already modeled 20 years ago (10 years ago in the case of anniversary). They don't need an extra 10$ just for checking a box to make it equipable, especially not when it's so easy, that modders already did it years prior for free. Key word here is game assets. All of these things (for the most part) are assets that already exist, and are paid for with the base cost of the game. The cost of all this DLC equals nearly the full cost of the game. They are charging the price of an entire second game, to give you things that you already paid for, and already existed, but are now equipable items. nvm the fact that 99% of this stuff is purely cosmetic because the stats are so useless for most things they aren't even a consideration. They are charging the price of a full game, for cosmetic DLC that techincally already exists in game, and it's a SINGLEPLAYER game. Cosmetic DLC for multiplayer is bad enough, this is just pure evil.
@@PTMG Hell yeah! I remember those 2 mods. Good times! I had such a hard time getting them working properly though. Took me over a week, but it was worth it lol.
Mods as far as I know don’t work on the Steam Deck if anyone in the comments knows how to get mods working on the deck warning only modded game I’ve played is Skyrim on the series x cause I didn’t have to do anything just downloaded & play
honestly not sure how mods work with the steamdeck theoretically it should be possible since it's just a linux build running games And modding is just modifying the game files If there is a way to access or manipulate the game files in the steam deck, you should be able to mod
@PlokTheMasterGamer at the time it just came out. I figured it'll feel like playing it like new, not really. I was happier playing the regular TLC. Exploits and a did a save right before each question I could return again. I did get a 99% without trying. Only needed the hero doll
7:53 They plagiarized somebody else’s work THEY MADE THE GAME. Sure somebody made the mods, but what we’re those mods based off of? The game. That’s not plagiarizing. They made the game! If you’ve got such a problem, just go get the mods! They made the game they made the models to begin with. Now, if somebody made their own custom armor sets and they took those and sold them, that’s different. But as far as say guard armor, Thunder’s armor, Jack of Blades’ armor and so on, they made that armor to begin with! Is it a little scummy they charge for something that simple to begin with, sure. BUT IT IS NOT PLAGIARISM!
I feel like you don't understand what plagiarism means. the owner of the IP is irrelevant to plagiarism. For example, if I write an essay about harry potter, and for some reason JK rowling was also in a scenario where she needed to submit an essay, and she just copied my harry potter essay, and submitted it as her own: it would still be plagiarism even though she owns the IP, because she still stole creative works from me (my writings) Do the modders own the IP? No. But they used the IP to make their own creative works (mods that utilize IP). What they did here was copy what they did, and release it for money instead of for free. Do they own the IP? Yes. Did they steal someones homework? yes. It is plagiarism despite the fact that they own the IP.
Best game ever, imo. But these dlc’s are pretty pathetic. They should had made it worth buying the new weapons.most of them are just to look at once and then go back to the solus greatword
I do have to say they at least added one or two armors that fall in the range between plate and archons armor, and I think also some between leather/chain, and maybe one between chain and plate But that also got ruined by being able to buy an archons equivalent (aeons armor) from bowerstone south lol
I think there's a defense to be said in lionheads favor. You mention they stole the hard work of the modder and then slapped a price tag on it. But the same could be said about the modder themselves. They did indeed just copy what lionhead made
Not really, because lionhead never originally made these things playable, they existed as textures within the game, but modders took the effort of making them into something playable, and did so for the love of the game and provided extra content to the community free of charge. Furthermore that is a dangerous precedent to try to set for modding. Modding isn't stealing or copying, because there isn't any equivalent. The things modders make typically don't exist until they make them. In this case we have legacy mods that have been around for 15 years+ for the original version of the game, and lionhead decided to copy their idea, and do the same thing, but charge an entire games worth of money for what some random gamer could have done, and did do for free. Sure lionhead owns the game assets but that is extremely irrelevant to the main point.
OMG THIS GAME IS TOO DAMN HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I find Fable harder than Elden Ring! I cannot beat twinblade even after 13hrs of non-stop matches between us! No matter how you dodge, he hits you. And if he don't, the crowd hits you. There is no way to do this fight without getting hit. And I'm all out of health potions. So I uninstalled the game, I'm done. This is Dark Souls X3!!! Just wrapped in a pretty package to fool you.
whaaat I always really liked the armor design in fable, and wished they had more armor variety In fact one of my biggest issues with fable 2 and 3 is essentially the complete removal of armor for equipment that more resembles general clothing, and has no armor ratings.
@@PTMG it looks good with 4 physique but if u go past that it gets stretched because your to big my problem with 2 and 3 was the exact same thing you get max stregth nothing looks good
Try modding the damage of the DLC weapons in Fable Explorer. I'm not sure if you can, but I would be surprised if you can't I've never really used the DLC weapons the Aeons Armor is the only armor I use from the DLC... Edit: One more thing LionHead Studios owned the copyrights to these characters and weapons (before they shutdown) so if they created a DLC about somethings they already own they didn't "plagiarise" anything... they made the contact they already owned even if a person made a "mod" before the DLC with the same contact. It's not the same thing "plagiarism". Just saying.
plagiarism has nothing to do with copyrights or trademarks, and is more about copying ideas or direct works. I use the essay example cause it is the the thing most usually associated with plagiarism: Lets say I write an essay about Mickey Mouse, and Disney decides they want to publish it to their website, but without crediting me, and claiming it as their own works. Despite the fact that they own the trademarks and copyrights for the Mickey Mouse character, it is still plagiarism to publish my essay as their own, even though my essay contains their trademarks and copyrights. The only thing that matters is that they copied my works. Sure lionhead owns the copyright to the jack of blades character, but the armor was never wearable, so independent modders who originally put in the work to make jack of blades armor wearable, are the ones with the original idea. So even though the people who made the DLC own the copyright to jack of blades, they still copied the IDEA of making his armor into a wearable set, and thus plagiarized the IDEA from whichever modder first did it. This applies to anything in the DLC that existed as a mod before Fable Anniversary/DLC for Fable Anniversary even existed.
ownership of the source material is irrelevant to plagiarism You are getting copyright/trademarks confused with plagiarism. Plagiarism is just copying of someones work. If lionhead never previously made a jacks armor mod etc. and an independent modder, did the work of making it into a mod; then copying the modders work, and releasing it, even as the company who owns the literal assets, is textbook plagiarism. Like if I wrote an essay about coca cola, even though I don't own coca cola, and coca cola company does own coca cola; it would still be plagiarism if coca cola copied my essay about coca cola, even though they own the brand/trademark/copyright/etc.
They could have at the very least made some of this gear stronger than the sword of aeons and archons armor... People who are buying this game are the same people who have already played it years ago, who already know how to get the best weapons and shit easily. Coming into this with this weak ass DLC gear I kinda just look at it once in the shop like "Oh cool" see the stats and then jsut decide not to get it becasue it sucks lmao
on the bright side, a huge portion of the stuff is available at bowerstone south so while the gear definitely isn't stronger than the best vanilla gear, a lot of it is better than anything you can get at bowerstone south, or at least before mid/end game if you aren't exploiting being able to get the aeons armor in bowerstone is pretty goddamn OP when you consider the archons armor (the equivalent set) isn't available until you get to necropolis in the northern wastes
Yeah usually all I ever want from a remake is HD graphics and widescreen support
The rise of the Fenix is the Butcher cleaver from Gears of war 2 , in the description for it, it says like Biffy C which is gears OG Cliffy B
interesting
never played any of the GoW games so I didn't know this
I thought it was a Tenacious D reference
DLC fake quests at the beginning! Give us what we really want!
that woulda been dope
And it would be interesting story wise. Imagine travelling to Hook Coast to protect the people from the Snow Troll. People would already know you further down the story so they'd feel more willing to leave the village for you to activate the Fire Heart as they trust and more you already. Same thing goes for Minion Camp quest in Knothole Glade.
It would enrich the story and give you connection to people on those isolated islands. It never made sense that those people ever hear of you before you travel there, and those quests would provide good ground for those people to trust you to protect them from Balverines and Minions/Blue robot things.
You the MVP for this, I would of been pissed if spent money on that bs. You got yourself another sub this
glad to help
the fable redux mod is a really good option, it gives you I think either all or most of what this DLC gives you (for free) as well as a bunch of other cut content re added to the game
Super weird they didn't just include it Microsuck just being Microsuck....the Clucking Hammer and the Wasp weapon for examples.
interesting
Can see why they cut the cluckin hammer and wasp weapons tho honestly, they are pretty much just dumb and useless
TBF that was Lion Head's schtick as shown with all the chicken abuse. XD They wanted joke weapons and it shows.@@PTMG
I liked the newer armour and stuff it would of been awesome if they would of came out with some more story though.
yeah some of them are cool, but the price definitely isn't justified still
@@PTMG oh I couldn’t agree more I was pissed off as well like you said they took the communities work and made it their own.
Kinda shitty, but such is the state of the gaming world
Nice video bro, you remind me a little bit on Slate from Dazed and Confused 😅
lol thanks
Ridiculous was going to buy the anniversary, but now that I know it's not ALL dlc included..I'm good. Thunders armor is the only thing I wanted and im not paying $8 for it.
yeah definitely not worth it
If you can catch it on the super steam sale and got like 5$ to waste it's not too bad but still pretty bad when you consider there's free mods out right now that contain most of this lol
I dont have any qualms really with the DLC at its core (other than maybe ruining the game by making endgame content too accessible)
It's mostly just the price point honestly
But it also just feels like a lazy re-use of existing assets, so charging money for it seems kinda weird.
I mean you are talking about shit that more or less already exists in game, at least on a texture level, and they are charging money so you can wear the stuff too.
@@PTMG I mean , instead of copy and paste and re-use the work of someone without doing nothing more , they could at least have done something more like giving extra skills by using this mod
the way you raged on the guard armor had me rolling on the floor...
lmfao it's downright unacceptable the shit doesn't even match
I remember, like ten years ago from now, playing Fable: Anniversary. I got to Oakvale, saw the pirate outfit and the Minecraft hat and stopped playing. I haven't went back ever since. Best £50 of my life...
oof shoulda waited for it to go on sale
Man, thanks for remembering the game of our childhood, though it was Fable The Lost Chapters.
I consider it to be way better than Baldur's Gate 3, since it has an amazing antagonist - Jack of Blades. Unlike BG3 having only 5 minutes of antagonist screen time, 5 minutes Karl!\
Games used to have soul back in the old days ...
God bless you bro, and everyone reading this comment!
Amen!
glad you enjoyed!
1:20 that guy is dancing on the left lol
lmfao hes stuck
Can you elaborate on changing the apprentice robe texture to look like graduate? I dont know where these files are or what the name of the apprentice robe WITHOUT the hood. I just want graduate robe with no hood. Also, is it possible to edit armor stats?
Not sure how to do it in anniversary, but in the original you could edit pretty much any texture file by opening it in paint or something and changing the colors
It's in my Steam shopping cart RIGHT NOW. Thanks for posting this bcc I love Fable from Original Xbox and just discovered modding so do I really even need this garbage?
In their defense, you are paying for the convenience and time it would take to mod it yourself.
kinda true I guess, but you don't actually have to make the mod yourself it already exists
There's one mod you can download, the Fable anniversary redux mod that contains everything the DLC has, and a bunch of other cut content (and some content they missed like other NPC weapons) and it's all free and in one mod.
And now I bought fable 2 and 3 for $20. Meanwhile this dlc costs more. They at least made F1 free on gamepass core (xbl gold)
yeah its pretty ridiculous at its full price
Not too insane if you get it on sale for a few dollars each like I did, but still I'm pretty sure most of the good stuff in there is available with mods
I don't know if the dlc are already coded in the 360 version, and you buy they just for unlocking stuff, or if is a game version glitch.
interesting
maybe with the DLC you get extra gifts from lady grey, and maybe the xbox glitched out im not sure though
Not expecting an equally lengthy answer back but I'd appreciate it nonetheless :)
definitely well put
Solid comment, mate.
Fable 1, although easy af, just had that feeling you can't describe. It was magic
2 was... a letdown. 3 was...
@@YummyWhiteLiquid Unfortunately, that is the exact same thought I had as well...
Oh well, it is what it is
Lol nice comment & thaught I wrote long comments but you beat my a few Hundred words lol
Thank you for this! It's much needed insight on such an obvious cash grab. You have definitely ensured I don't have to buy it.

All in all the dlcs are pretty shit, I literally only value them for stuff like Thunder and JoB's armor which feels weird to wear anyway cause you're just copying someone else lol
mods are the definition of community based content
I'm not saying they did the modelling work, I'm saying they are the ones that ported the playable armor sets into the game to begin with
mods / community created content / community based content /community workshop content are all just synonyms of the same thing
They are taking something that the community already did 15 years ago for free with zero resources, and trying to make money off of it; and it's cringey and pathetic lmfao
I don't think you can get past circle of the dead cause it's an actual activate door, not a door that swings open to a load zone
"normal" doors (that swing open to a load zone, like the bowerstone south entrance etc.) you can glitch through them, and your character will touch the load zone trigger and it will load the next area
Even if you could glitch past the circle of the dead door, there isn't a "load zone" on the other side of it so nothing would happen.
@@PTMG ah. ty for the explanation
Wasn't able to get past the tomb into the underground passages leading to Bargate Prison
Yeah, you really can't as the Demon Door needed to activate it can't be activated until you go to Lychfield Graveyard in the story.
Yeah it's a lazy cash grab overall
Pretty awesome that 20yrs later people are still playing Fable. I started with Fable 1 on Xbox360 a few months ago and now I'm on Fable 2. Got the games super cheap on Ebay. I was thinking about also buying Fable Anniversary but if you say there isn't anything new except weapons and clothing then I'll skip it. Do the graphics in your video look better because the graphics were improved or is it because you are playing it on a PC.
Question to people commenting on this video, I'm curious what the ages of players are, I'm 52 and still playing, gamer generation I guess......
The graphics are definitely better on PC, but also its also because they improved the graphics
Even the original version of the game looks much better on PC compared to console
I've started another playthrough of Anniversary. Found out about Fable through a friend and have been obsessed with the series ever since.
Having these items as quest rewards would stave that off.
imo most of it doesn't break the game in this case
I think the aeon armor is the only thing that is stronger than base platemail, which is already obtainable right off the bat
easy fix for that is to just put it in hook coast or something instead of bowerstone so you can't get it till late game
But like I said, I still hate that they expect us to pay for this crap.
to clarify, plagiarism and copyright are two different things
just because they own/created the origin textures doesnt mean they are incapable of plagiarizing someone elses work, which happens to use their assets
@@PTMG Yeah, that makes sense. I guess I was just thinking of copyright.
Man, this is so lame.... I was hoping for some new extra quest lines, bosses, mini bosses, etc etc. Whatever, great video though.
Btw, you pumped for Fable 4? Some information suggests Oct 2023 or early 2024 release
definitely excited but trying not to get my hopes up too high
hopefully they do better than they did for fable 2 and 3
@@PTMG MAJOR facts, brother.
I only bought the jack of blades costume an weapons that’s it I actually quite fondly enjoyed getting the dlc
Not that the DLC itself is bad, it's just not a good value since those things are all available as mods for free. With the exception of some of the dumb stuff like the wasp outfit and wasp hammer and similar garbage, all the other stuff such as enemy armor/weapons or other hero armor/weapons is available as mods for the most part
The fable anniversary redux mod I did a series on for instance, gives you almost all of the DLC stuff, plus some extra stuff the DLC didn't have, including some content that was cut from the original game
I’m not even joking on that.
lmfao thats wild
do they at least give you ONE save slot lol
@@PTMG thankfully they give you one. I think maybe two. The rest you have to buy.
I always forget about the berserk glitch
I bought all the DLC but can’t find any of the items in any of the shops. Anyone got any advice?
do you have it fully installed? steam DLC can be finicky sometimes
My issue is that there is no reason this stuff couldn’t have just been included with the anniversary edition of them game. Some of the stuff is cool but is useless 4 hours into the game
yeah I agree, especially since a lot of this stuff existed before anniversary existed, as mods for TLC
Coulda been a cool throwback to some of the old community mods, but instead they decided to cash grab
The jack of blades armor would’ve been the best thing fable could have ever done
yeah coolest armor set
there's been a mod for it though since the mid 2000's
All versions of the game are the same, except the PC version which has heroic mode option (a harder difficulty setting)
But all versions of Anniversary are actually easier than the original "Fable The Lost Chapters" because of some scripting issues that don't have enemies re spawning when they should (like in trader rescue) but also an issue that causes enemies to almost completely ignore your follower (like hobbe cave quest, hobbes wont attack the kid just you, and also again in trader rescue the bandits wont attack the traders)
Ill give you points for the price though, its very overpriced
yeah for xbox it makes more sense since there is no other way
but the person who made the assets is neither here nor there, we are talking about assets that are already made and in the game.
I kinda like some of the armors, but i prefer the old graphics. I wish someone would just mod them into TLC.
There are at least some of these for TLC, i know there was at least a mod for jack of blades and thunders armor back in the day

honestly not sure how mods work with the steamdeck
theoretically it should be possible since it's just a linux build running games
And modding is just modifying the game files
If there is a way to access or manipulate the game files in the steam deck, you should be able to mod

I did get a 99% without trying. Only needed the hero doll
the obsidian armor kinda looks like robo cop

They plagiarized somebody else’s work
THEY MADE THE GAME.
For example, if I write an essay about harry potter, and for some reason JK rowling was also in a scenario where she needed to submit an essay, and she just copied my harry potter essay, and submitted it as her own: it would still be plagiarism even though she owns the IP, because she still stole creative works from me (my writings)
Do the modders own the IP?
I do have to say they at least added one or two armors that fall in the range between plate and archons armor, and I think also some between leather/chain, and maybe one between chain and plate
But that also got ruined by being able to buy an archons equivalent (aeons armor) from bowerstone south lol
@@PTMG totally. Especially if you use the money hack.
@@PTMG that's a well thought out argument. I've decided you changed my mind. Cheers
in all honesty Fable is so easy that stats don't matter at all
true
the fable redux mod adds all those items
exactly!
I'm on the Xbox One X, so I had to buy these DLCs
ouch
Thanks sm just got the game thank god I didn’t buy the costumes 💀
yeah just download redux mod for free
Doesn't have quite everything, but it has a lot of what the DLC has, and more
OMG THIS GAME IS TOO DAMN HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just wrapped in a pretty package to fool you.
that's wild literally just run around in circles what
My Fable keeps freezing 🤬
try to reinstall
@@PTMG I’ll try it again. Thanks for the reply
One of the best games ever with the worst armor of all time
whaaat I always really liked the armor design in fable, and wished they had more armor variety
In fact one of my biggest issues with fable 2 and 3 is essentially the complete removal of armor for equipment that more resembles general clothing, and has no armor ratings.
I use the essay example cause it is the the thing most usually associated with plagiarism:
Lets say I write an essay about Mickey Mouse, and Disney decides they want to publish it to their website, but without crediting me, and claiming it as their own works.
Im so glad i didnt buy this again
just download mods instead
Lionshead studio is the worst 😂
there's probably worse out there but yeah they definitely went downhill quick
But I already bought all of em😭
hopefully they were on sale lol
@@PTMG Fr, I hope so too
I don't get how you can say lionsgate plagiarized someone's mod when they're the ones who mad the original file for the armors the mods took 🤔😂
ownership of the source material is irrelevant to plagiarism
You are getting copyright/trademarks confused with plagiarism.
Coming into this with this weak ass DLC gear I kinda just look at it once in the shop like "Oh cool" see the stats and then jsut decide not to get it becasue it sucks lmao
on the bright side, a huge portion of the stuff is available at bowerstone south
so while the gear definitely isn't stronger than the best vanilla gear, a lot of it is better than anything you can get at bowerstone south, or at least before mid/end game if you aren't exploiting
being able to get the aeons armor in bowerstone is pretty goddamn OP when you consider the archons armor (the equivalent set) isn't available until you get to necropolis in the northern wastes
Ppl will always find something to whine about
Ironically people will come to the comments to whine about valid criticisms of game content
