Just got a Dell PowerEdge t620 for cheap on Facebook market place was looking to find guide with the dell interface as i have never had a server like this and its sole purpose is to upgrade my nas that i have build from an old dual core 4th gen ii7-4790K with 16gb ram. currently running it fine with 3x4tb hd's but the case its in is completely full of the hd mount spots and i have the drives almost completely full now. So i wanted to either add drives or just redo the config with say another 2 4tb hd's witch i have as spares sitting on shelf for past year or so. All my data is backed up on a 10tb elements drive. i then started looking for good deal on ram and a bigger case but i randomly came across the t620 for about 2x times the money i was looking for the case and ram ie around 100 it came with all the drive bays and 32gb ram E5-2620 witch i can add and 2nd one if i ever need it and room for like 64gb more in 16gig sticks witch are cheap.
Surprised you didn’t swap out the ROM for an adapter tray to put your boot drive in and use the 0 slot for another TrueNAS drive. Just did this setup for my second Dell R720 a couple of days ago.
Hey, I know this is 9 months old, and I didn't read through all the posts to see if anyone mentioned this to you, bu when you pulled your raid controller to remove the battery, you did not seat it properly on reinstall. The side of the controller where the battery goes, should slide underneath those two little tabs on each corner, then the end with heat sink drops onto the posts. Also, did you replace the battery? Thanks for the video. Well done.
Hi, thanks for sharing. I have flashed my raid controller on it mode, and installed true Nas on a sas 512gb and 8 1tb sas for backups and stuffs. All went good but the fans are always at 100% have you encounter this problem?
Did you put the battery back? Im assuming its safe to do so since the reason for removing it was just to make sure any cached data in the controller died.
Thank you so much kind sir, This took me 2 days to finally get TrueNAS installed every instruction I went through never said you needed to run the command on linux flashboot /root/Bootloaders/mptsas2.rom so I was under the impression once you flashed to it you were good but it clearly wasn't the case because I couldn't install or boot to TrueNAS. Would you please include the documentation of the instructions being told to run that command for future users to find.
Thank you very much for sharing this. This helped me get my R720 flashed to IT mode and now I can see all the hard drives in Proxmox. Very helpful!
Awesome! Glad it helped
great walkthrough, i dont want to do this but I need my NAS :(
This was awesome. sweet n to the point.
You're a lifesaver, really appreciate the step by step.
You're welcome!
hello, im new to servers and im learning everything from your videos. what is that page you have on 4:06 ?
Thanks for watching! 4:06 is ProxMox, its a "Hypervisor" which lets your run Virtual Machines. I highly recommend it, it's free.

Thank you very much! It helps me find a solution for Un-raided.
But I have been unable to load the H710 mini since I followed the wizard. 😂

Thank you so much man you saved me a lot of time ❤️
thank you. Can this controller as flashed be then passed through truenas VM if it is installed on a dell R720 running proxmox?

Any way to still have drive LEDs active on the caddies??
Great video !
Why not setup the hard drives array from the raid card directly ?
TrueNAS won’t work with hardware RAID.

You're welcome! Yea it was not obvious and took a while to figure out. Here is the documentation I followed - fohdeesha.com/docs/H710P-B0.html
