Hey I've been using this for a few weeks I really like it. I use it after a shower and it's ok to use with shaving gel which I find helps with the redness on the scalp. It's the first balding shaver I've used so I will experiment with others in the future
Havent used this, but im looking at it. Ive been using the rx5 for nearly a year now, and im quite satisfied with it. To answer your question, i shave in lines. Across the grain, and then against the grain. Im also able to get the points behind the airs and above the sideburns. I sometimes rotate the shaver while trimming behind the ears. Not sure if it makes a difference. Some minor touchup with the fold out straight clipper, above the sideburns is sometimes required. My tip for you. Shave in the shower. No foam or gel needed. It reduces irritation, and saves you from the cleaning the foam out of it, several times throughout the shave. And it gets as close a shave as with foam. On a side note, my skin is sensitive aswell, so i hope this will help you.
Glad I could help. What other shavers are you looking at? I can highly recommend the Wahl Balding clippers ua-cam.com/video/lXSzTeto9BA/v-deo.html although not quite as short as the Remington RX7 all the best with your search and let me know what you decide ✌️
I have just joined the shaved head brigade. I shave my head every day with the RX7. I can shave my head in less that a minute. I use beard oil for a closer shave. Really pleased with it so far after one months constant use.
I'm a week in with one and relatively happy. Made a right mess of the back of my neck after the first use but know not not to go that far down any more lol. It does need a few passes and you do need to apply a bit of pressure but even then I can't can't get an even smoothness all over. I'm probably still going to wet shave every other week as nothing comes close and I love that babies bum smoothness from a wet shave, but it will be much easier to keep that close shave look using this in between.
I used Philips one blade for a year or so. Need to change blade after 5-6 shaves. Just got Remington Rx-7 and after first shave I don’t need to use one blade anymore. Better, faster, more comfortable in use then one blade.
any tips to avoid ingrown hairs/razor bumps while using this? I love the shave I get, but can't seem to use it without these issues. Thanks for the review
I just bought this. Used it for the first time and Its everything I hoped for. However as I said it is my very first ever head shaver so I was wondering. Do you need to put a pressure on the head shaver to shave your head properly or just do several movements without any pressure? Thanks for any tips and pointers!
Thanks for the review. I'm on the fence. I've had the RX5 for three years and it's great - same drawbacks around the beard edges and ears (I tidy with gilette maybe once a week) but it still offers great convenience and I will give the head a trim more frequently than I used to with the old clippers. Now the issue is that I'm in the market for replacement "blades" as I've finally noticed a degraded cut but it looks like it may be more cost effective to just buy another one hence I may be flipping a coin between the RX7 or another 5. Thankfully I don't have sensitive skin but it does get dry after a shave - I've found the Aveeno Skin Relief stuff has been excellent
Appreciate you watching and the comment 🙌🏻 I hear you regarding the cost prohibitive blade replacement 😔 i would prefer a more environmentally conscious option. How long have you owned it before you noticed the blades getting dull? Regarding RX5 vs RX7. I have a mate with the RX5 and he’s happy with it. When I purchased the 7 there wasn’t much in price difference. Plus I prefer the green 🤩
@Owen Jackson it wasn't a gradual thing, it was just the last time I used it, it didn't feel great, pulling hair a bit which it has never done in the past. On Amazon right now the 7 is only £4 more expensive than the 5
I may have commented this on some of your other videos, I have tried pretty much every clipper, rotary shaver, trimmer, bladed razor, etc you can imagine for head shaving. Absolutely nothing, hands down, gives me the closeness, comfort, lack of irritation, and overall speed and convenience when shaving my head like a Braun foil shaver. I have a series 5 (the newer version with the 'easy clean feature) and a series 9, both give me a razor blade smooth head shave, even on two to three days growth, with absolutely no irritation and can be done in five minutes or less. I tried this Remington head shaver and the pitbull gold, both gave me a patchy shave and horrible irritation. The Wahl balding clippers work well for bulk removal but I agree they are far too bulky and unwieldy for daily use. I'm telling you man, try a Braun foil shaver. I absolutely 100% guarantee you will throw away every other head shaving device you own.
Ian, you sir are a solid gold human 🙏🏻 super appreciate your real world feedback 🪒 the Braun 5 does seem a great proposition [I have a vague memory of yourself or someone mentioning it] and currently around £62 in the UK, cheaper than the RX7. The Braun 9, wow, £220 😅 it had better be a great shave. I’m very tempted and will investigate more when funds allow. Have you tried wet shaving? How does it compare with the Braun?
@@OwenJackson Honestly, I find the final result between the series 5 and series 9 pretty much the same. The big difference is how quickly and easily you can get there. For head shaving, the stronger motor of the series 9 combined with the fancy computer chip that supposedly responds to hair density and the pivoting head are all very nice to have and all make quick work of a head shave. I'm serious man, I can go from 3 days growth to a near glass smooth finish (think a couple hours after a blade shave) in minutes. Regarding wet shaving, I'm not a huge fan with electrics. I don't ever see any benefit from the time spent and honestly end up with a better final result when dry shaving. There are a few good videos regarding head shaving with the Braun, especially the series 9. You can get a cheap series 3 but the old battery and motor styles burn out quick from head shaves. My series 9 is a wet/dry model but I opted for the shaver only, not the fancy cleaning base model and was able to get it for around $140 US via Amazon during a sale. You can split the difference and look at the series 6 or series 7, not much more expensive than the series 5 but they include the pivoting head. The motion of using a foil shaver like a braun is more of an up/down and is much more precise, getting behind ears is especially easy and they work especially great on the back of your neck. I absolutely guarantee you that if you try one of these styles of shaver you will throw out everything else. I keep my Wahl balding clippers around for when I randomly let my hair grow for a few weeks and keep my braun to get the smooth daily shave.
Thanks Ian. A super thorough and in-depth reply. I’ll certainly look into it and who knows… maybe I’ll do a video about it 😊 What sort of videos do you like watching? All the best and thanks again for your support and for this community ✊🏻
Difference between the RX5 and this RX7..? Apart from price, will it cut closer and give a cleaner shave. I also use the Wahl Balding clipper for years, but only on my head after 4 days when I don’t wet shave with a Gillette Slalom disposable razor and it does a decent job but I like to go closer, rather like how you have your head. So then, does that RX7 do a really decent job compared to the RX 5 ( I see that it is a recent addition to the Remington range in December 2023. Many thanks
Thanks for watching Rich. I believe the differences are mainly the design and slightly smaller and ergonomic profile in hand, the additional flexibility of the RX7 head 30% more movement and revised LED battery indicator. I haven’t used them both back to back but when I purchased the RX7, it wasn’t a lot more than the RX5, and I preferred the look and aesthetics. Their cutting length is identical at 0.2 mm
Recently purchased one and had my second head shave today. WOW, what a shaver. Really put it to the test today and shaved after a week off hair growth and it was just stunning. Such a great shave. I did get a bit of a redness on my neck the first time when I started the shave at the top and moved back but this time I started at the back with less pressure and it was so, so much better. No itch or burn. Perfect Shave. And only took about 5 minutes. (never used the turbo at all) 😊👍🏻👍🏻💯
Thats for the question mate. I'm afraid I haven't tried the pickup gold. I've heard you can get replacement blades directly from Remmington for £25 i believe
I unfortunately have extra sensitive skin and rash easily, so I am loath to buy a foil (?) shaver. Any suggestions? I use a barbers shears but the Mrs must do it as I also have a ton of moles !! I’d love to find a head shaver that I could use solo and not be rushed for days . Please and thanks!
Hey Larry. Try utilising a two mirror method. One positioned in front of you and another one in your hand so you can see the back of your head. Once you get the technique nailed you can be autonomous. Even the most understanding partners can’t always be bothered to deal with our head stubble flying everywhere 😆 My favourite clippers are the Wahl Balding Clipper Review: ua-cam.com/video/lXSzTeto9BA/v-deo.html
Nice review. Did you try this with a wet shave in the end? I’ve purchased it myself. First attempt was great. Second and third not too good. Got serious irritation on the sides. Wanting to experiment with shaving creaming.
hey Samuel, thanks for watching and the comment. I just didn't get on with this shaver. I've been alternating between the Wahl Balding clipper [review here ua-cam.com/video/lXSzTeto9BA/v-deo.html] and wet shaving with a razor. I find the Wahl clippers and wet shave are much more consistent. There is a learning curve with wet shaving, but I think the result is better 😊
thanks for the review, i've had the same as you man. nice bald cut but problems around ears and hell of irritation at the back of me neck. the cut is great but the irritation is awful, any advice? considering returing it, but maybe i'll give it a one or two more goes under the wet or not pushing so much.
I’m sure your aware but the balding clippers also come as wireless option and rechargeable which I have and makes them very portable and easy to use.. although they don’t get as close as a foil. But I’m considering the pitbull skull shaver as my brother swears by them.
Agree with his review. I bought a regular shaver to do my neck as the rem doesnt do concave very well. Also use light shaving cream makes it easier as well.
I've using this shaver for 1 year now, and its the best thing i bought in a while. I have some pimples or dots (sorry for the english) in my head, which get cut and make me bleed if i use a traditional shaver. With this machine i can get the closest to the traditional shaver without getting cuts or popping those pimples. 10/10 would recommend it. if mine broke, I would instatly would go to the store to buy the same one, thats how good it is! :)
I've been using the Leafshave Twig on my head which I do really like but recently got the RX7 to throw in my hand luggage for travelling and also as I do occasionally get irritation thought it would be good to give my scalp a break from the blade. I also find it takes a good few minutes to do my head and never feel like it is as close as I'd like. Tbh don't feel like I've quite got the hang of it yet... I do find the pop up trimmer useful for around and behind the ears
Hi Nicholas, sounds great for travel and hope you get the hang of it. I’m sure you’ll be bossing it in no time 👍 💈 I’ve been hearing great things about the Leaf range. I’ll look into it. Cheers for the comment and your real world feedback ✌🏻
I use a t-blade razor. Best one I ever had was like 20 quid, have had it for like 5+-years. Haven't had to change the blade. Gets you to 0.2mm, but can be adjusted to get to 0.1mm. They are small portable things.
May I suggest that you shower before shaving. It will soften up the hair significantly and make it eaiser for the razor to cut the hair and it will also reduce irritation. I'm in the market for an electric head shaver these days. I just spent $17 dollars on a head shave with balding clippers at my local barbershop today. I do enjoy going there and I do enjoy the hot towel treatment and hot lather shave on the bck of my neck after getting the head shave but to be honest, it would work out better for me to invest in a head shaver. This video was a huge help and I'm watching your Phillips Oneblade review now.
Very good point regarding the warm shower and hot towels. There’s something nice about the experience of a barbers, although I haven’t had my head shaved there since purchasing my wahl balding clippers. By far my favourites [review here: Wahl Balding Clipper Review ua-cam.com/video/lXSzTeto9BA/v-deo.html ] I have been experimenting with a razor 🪒 and using it whilst having a hot shower so makes a lot of sense. All the best and hope you find a good solution. The Oneblade is good for tidying up but I found the blades too costly for permanent use. More of a tidy up job
I have the same issues where it misses hair around the ear area…use the flip down trimmer incorporated into the shaver which you also use to trim up the side burns!!
Thanks Jake. You’re totally right, maybe it was my technique but I couldn’t make the flip out trimmer cut well and found the whole shaver cumbersome whilst navigating the area. And I was worried about catching my beard as it twizzled round trying to find the angles 😆 How are you finding the RX7 overall?
Like you I used the Wahl balding clippers for years…I find the RX7 shaves noticeably closer, so I prefer them to the balding clippers…however one concern I have (and I’ve seen many others say the same issue) with the RX7 is there’s doesn’t seem anywhere that you can buy replacement heads…I don’t understand how a company can release a shaver but no access to replacement heads! The shaver has been out for a long time now so you would expect to have replacements available…surely at some point they will have to release replacements just like the RX5 has???
Awesome video mate, I have had the Remington RAPID CUT for years and love it. However its just died and was looking at other options. I did have some of the same concerns you found with coverage and irritation.. Perhaps something that gets better with time? Anyway, think I'll just replace the Rapidcut for now... sub minute tidy ups are pretty good!
thanks for watching Jeremy. I had to google the rapid cut, what a quirky little design. if it works for you, go for it. I've since ditched the RX7. for me, the irritation dint get better and I found it a flawed design, in my personal experience. all the best 🤙
@@sergglukhov267it's not. My last pitbull died in 5 months. I tried to get it to warranty, mission impossible. And quality of shaver and blads is like a bad Chinese toy. Avoid them.
Hi nice review bud I’ve got three head bull dog £40 it ok I wouldn’t go with them again but for the price of set of blade ok new to bald shave are wahl balding worth it ? , side note I’ve been Altra zero drop user for past 8 years rocky ride at time I’ve just got Olympus 6 best yet for older feet Altra brilliant my foot health been so much better toe socks too game changer
Hi Andy, super appreciate you checking out this video and others on my channel. I really enjoy the no nonsense Wahl Balding. I can whip my hair down to almost razor smooth (equivalent of one-two days after a razor shave) in minutes. I've recently started incorporating razor shaves. I Love the feel after using a razor, but it is far more time consuming. So just for special occasions, or when traveling and I don't want to carry the bulky Walh; clippers. That's the only downside to the Wahls, quite cumbersome. But they've more than paid for themselves considering the amount of uses they've had. Excellent shout on the toe socks. Any recommendations? I've been meaning to get some and this might be the persuasion I need 😃 All the best with your adventures and barefoot journey. It sounds like you're well on your way after 8 years.. .there's no going back to 'conventional' foot coffins after experiencing the joy of barefoot shoes right!!🦶
Thank you for this review bruv. I'm going to pay the extra and get the Pitbull Platinum. I've only seen good reviews and heard firsthand praise. I'm still going to use my blade but when it's mid-week and I cba for a full blade shave the pitbull will do the job.
I’ve just purchased 1, in route to pick it up now, I used to use the skull shaver platinum pro, really good shaver but after 10 months it’s stopped charging and the warranty was to much hassle, hoping this 1 lasts even though it’s only 1/3 the price
@@OwenJackson the rx7 is definitely a closer shave then the skull shaver that I can’t use any more, I noticed that where the rx7 is such a close shave its a lot less comfortable for me to use as the rx7 feel likes it’s literally scratching my head and I did end up with a fairly sore neck, I’m going to try it with some sensitive shaving foam and see how I get on with that, I am absolutely chuffed with the end result though as like I said before, it’s a closer shave
I returned the pit ball the next day I found it unless the motor was having a hard time when I put a little force on my head my old rx5 never had a problem and cut way closer with a 2 year old blade still
Interesting. I was under the impression the pitbul was better but lots of anecdotes such as this are surfacing. I don’t have personal experience of it so always curious to hear from people such as yourself ✌🏻 thanks for the comment
It works perfectly and super close. Just don't press, let it glide and use it WET!!! If you wet the blades under with water the shave will be smoother and closer, guaranteed.
Ive got the rx5. And yeah it simply doesnt shave as close as a razor...it does work better when head is wet with shaving gel than using it dry...but its never gonna be as good a razor if your wanting a clean shaven head
You do realise that the shaver itself comes with a mini shaver on the side? to get the bits that are difficult to get, like the sideburns and round the top of the ear.
It is very sensitive around the neck area and can get sore, I tend to avoid those areas now and use my wireless shaver that I use for my beard to go over this area.
hey, thanks for the comment. Yes absolutely, I briefly show the mini clipper at 1:26 but found it awkward to use. I realise I didn't show it in the video. I prefer the one blade for finer detail and tidying up and my sensitive neck
Nice review. I have the RX5 and use daily for 3min on my head. For my neck I find it a little irritating and use a Braun series 3. I agree for the finer points around the ears. I don't have a beard and use a Gillette Mach 3 for my face. Find when I'm brave the Mach 3 gives the smoothest shave on my head.
The best head shaver, even better / smoother and faster than single blade or gillette i have been using the rx5 for over a year (still sharp) and the rx7 for 2 weeks - I agree with you on the moisturising but since im dry skin i put aftershave balm on anyway. - I i geet cuts too when i try to shave the back of my neck but since its not what its made for i'm ok with that, i user a boody shaver/ single blade for that part - Around the ear gets left behind sometimes so i use a foil shaver (Baby liss) for that area 2-3 times / week. 5 minutes and i'm always fresh and clean looking :)
I think it'll work differently for each individual user, looks like you have very sensitive skin. Maybe you need to be more skincare proactive, vit B & silica nourishes the skin from withing. I've ordered a proshaver.
Thanks Ben, I’ve been hearing good things about Leaf and their products. How long have you been using it? Is that the Twig the referring to? I like their plastic free ethos ✊🏻 💚
Just recently bought this and it's great, but I get a rash at the base of my skull/top of neck. Anyone else experienced this and know a solution? I'm in the process of trying different things; this morning I shaved dry (as usual) and put less pressure, with it on turbo mode, when doing the area that gets a rash. There's definitely less irritation there, but still some. Next I'll probably try it in the shower.
Let’s us know if you find a solution. I think some have suggested a small amount of shaving cream or shaving oil to help. I haven’t tried it personally
Hey Yang, I haven't heard of that shaver before. How long have you been using it? Would you recommend it over an electric shaver/ How was the process learning to shave your head, I find it daunting 😅
@@OwenJackson yea I recommend it. I used to shave with a double edge and a straight razor. It took a long time to shave with those two. With the Omnishaver there’s really no learning curve. Just use light pressure and swipe up and down, left and right. And the blades are very quick to change. I don’t use it for the face though. Their touch up one can be used for the face. I still use the double edge and straight razor for the face.
I've been using the RX7 for about a month now. I shave my head and my face with it and I have a really tough beard (I don't grow a beard, except the morning growth). I found it caused a bit of skin irritation at first but now I don't have that problem. I use the circular motion on my head and a combination of straight up and down and circular on my face. The RX7 gives me a closer cut than what I've seen on Owens head: I love the RX7 and would recommend it to anyone.
It scratches, heats itself up, and shaves very poorly. 48 hours after I shaver my head with a razor blade I needed a good 30 minutes of scratching my head to get it over with, or rather not entirely over it, because the effect leaves a lot to be desired. During this time, the battery is used up to half. If You expect to quickly shave hair that are still growing, get ready to be disappointed. This shaver is only suitable for people with thin/thinning hair or for severely bald people.
The RX7 feels very close, but agree a shaver would still offer a marginally closer cut 🪒 are you looking for an electric razor? Or do you prefer a conventional razor?
@@OwenJackson Somethin like RX7 would be awesome but what's bothering me is that you kind of need to replace the whole blade head. Would be hard to find replacements and they arent that cheap. I would really prefer somethin electrical but razor is just more accessible and cheaper too.
@@OwenJackson Just any safety razor tbh :) going to oldschool razors seems like the best idea. Those cartridge razors that i've been using really irritate the skin since they have so many blades. Something simple like for example Gillette King C safety razor should do the job without irritation
Hey Zbigniew when I purchased there was only £10-£15 difference so felt like a worthy investment to get the newer model. Have you tried a traditional razor 🪒 do you have any recommendations? I recently shaved for the first time and really like the feel and agree an electric razor just doesn’t quite get as close 👍
What a load of crap. I've had a straight razor from a barber and my Rx5 done a way better job. I can get mine down to pretty that smooth skin feeling. Will definitely be upgrading
Hi guys mines cut out last night and won’t work. When I take the head off and hit the power button the motor spins but as soon as I put the head on nothing happens. Left and right of the 4 led lights also flash when I press the power button. Any suggestions?
I think it’s the same issue I experienced. Try giving the shaver guards a good clean under the tap. I also used a small screwdriver to manually turn the blade heads. I think it’s when the motor senses friction and gets stuck. And rather than forcing it and frying the motor it has a bossy fit and stops. Preventative measures 🛑 See if that works and let me know if it helps ✌🏻
Thanks for the insight Tony. I’ve heard a lot of things about Pit Bull and I did wonder if they were worth the premium over other similar products. It’s a shame you’ve had a less positive experience. Have you tried anything similar that you could recommend?
@@OwenJackson I’ve got a Remington X5,I’ve not had any issues with it. The Pit Bull gave a good shave but at a cost of £115+ not worth it. I also bought a spare blade head, which I can’t use now. Skull Shavers are all over you when buying a product but they pretty much ignore you after they’ve made the sale.
Same here I bought the Beast clipper too - same problem worked perfectly fine for 3/4 months then nothing. Dead. Pathetic company. No refund whatsoever.
Grip the pivoting head in one hand and the mesh grill in another. Use your mail to loosen one of the sides of the mesh. From there just work your way around the final 3. It’s fiddly but manageable 👍
I loved the Wahl balding, but was fed up of plugging in too. I purchased a Wahl super taper cordless razor… and fitted the balding blades to it. Perfect solution! For the last year 2 years I’ve now been on a wet razor… and nothing beats it. My neighbour recommended the RX7 to me last night, so I was just checking out some reviews. Like you, I have sensitive skin… so I can’t imagine this working for me. I also don’t think it’ll be close enough. Thanks for the review 👍
Hey Peter. Love hearing how the community are tackling their shaves. What an ingenious solution. I wish they did a cordless Balding clipper but you’re onto a winner by the should of it. Can you recommend a wet razor? I finally tried wet shaving 🪒 wow. What a clean feeling 👨🏻🦲 I used a disposable razor so it wasn’t the best experience, nor do I like the idea of single use plastics, but I needed to try-before-I-buy. That fully bald feeling 🙌🏻 I’m still using the Wahl balding when I don’t need a super smooth head. The RX7 is seeing less use currently and agree I don’t think after a full wet shave would you be smitten with the electric result Thanks again for checking in and your experience mate 🙏🏻
@@OwenJackson I was using a Mach3 on my neck at the time, so tried using that on my head. I then tried a few disposables, followed by a Headblade ATX. It was really good, but after a few shots of that I realised that a standard shape razor was more for me… so got a good deal on a Gillette Skinguard with 10 blades at Costco. Once I’d used them up, I tried the new Gillette Labs Exfoliating razor. I got one with 30 blades for £58… and am still working my way through those blades. The 5 blades make a much better job than the 2 blades on the Skincare razor. I generally wet shave my head every 3 days, and don’t really like the way it feels on the 3rd day. I don’t think an electric razor could compete… as my day 1 shave would probably feel like my day 3 of a wet shave. When I bought the Headblade razor, I also bought some of their Headslick shaving cream… which I’ve been using ever since. Tried a few others… but I really like Headslick. I think I’ll save my cash for something else and avoid the RX7 / Pitbull etc, and stick with my wet shaves!
@@OwenJackson I tried almost everything. I have 5 trimmers, multi blades but it's been almost 2 years since I started using DE safety razor and this will be the last thing that I will use. All the best!
This shaver gives my neck VERY BAD razor burn. Even if I apply very little pressure it still burns like hell every time (used it 5-6 times). I don't recommend it, it's a total disappointment and a waste of money for me. Look into the Cut Buddy. The shave isn't as close, but no razor burns ever appeared from it. Wish I have seen this earlier.. 😃
@@OwenJackson I have to Gold Pro and it's been great. The way the four heads pivot allow me to get a close shave with minimal effort. The back of my head is pretty sensitive. This doesn't irritate my skin. I dry shave if I'm in a rush but I prefer a damp shave with minimal shave product.
Have you found the replacement heads for it. The Europe site doesnt sell them for the rx5 or 7 and i realised the rx7 isnt even a model on the American site although they sell the 5s replacement
Hey Zion, I haven’t looked into replacement heads I’m afraid. I’m hoping the current head lasts a long long time. Anecdotally, I’ve read someone online emailed Remington directly about getting a replacement head. About £25. However, I don’t have first hand experience or can validate it. Have you tried any other shavers? You have an amazing head of hair by the way 🙏🏻
Have you tried this shaver, what did you think? Do you shave in circles or lines?
Hey I've been using this for a few weeks I really like it. I use it after a shower and it's ok to use with shaving gel which I find helps with the redness on the scalp. It's the first balding shaver I've used so I will experiment with others in the future
@@ciaranbrady2592 shaving gel or a bit of shaving oil could really help. Thanks Ciaran, do you have sensitive skin too?
Thanks for the good and honest review Owen, been thinking about getting this and now decided against it. Cheers
Glad I could help. What other shavers are you looking at? I can highly recommend the Wahl Balding clippers ua-cam.com/video/lXSzTeto9BA/v-deo.html
although not quite as short as the Remington RX7
all the best with your search and let me know what you decide ✌️
I have just joined the shaved head brigade. I shave my head every day with the RX7. I can shave my head in less that a minute. I use beard oil for a closer shave. Really pleased with it so far after one months constant use.
Sounds like it suits your needs perfectly. Thanks for sharing 👌🏻
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience 👍 🪒
any tips to avoid ingrown hairs/razor bumps while using this? I love the shave I get, but can't seem to use it without these issues. Thanks for the review
Thanks for the review ! I'm looking for my first shaver and video helped a lot :)
Appreciate you watching and the comment 🙌🏻
I hear you regarding the cost prohibitive blade replacement 😔 i would prefer a more environmentally conscious option.
May I also ask, the difficult areas behind the ears and below the temple. How does it cope with the contours of your head?
I’ll certainly look into it and who knows… maybe I’ll do a video about it 😊
What sort of videos do you like watching? All the best and thanks again for your support and for this community ✊🏻
Works good for head?
(never used the turbo at all) 😊👍🏻👍🏻💯
Thanks for sharing 👍
Great point. The blades get hotter the longer you use them.
Mine just stopped working?
After a month
Hi mate is this better than the pitbull gold skullshaver?
Also where can you pick up replacement blades from? Thanks
Rushed should read rashed
Hey Larry. Try utilising a two mirror method. One positioned in front of you and another one in your hand so you can see the back of your head. Once you get the technique nailed you can be autonomous. Even the most understanding partners can’t always be bothered to deal with our head stubble flying everywhere 😆
My favourite clippers are the Wahl Balding Clipper Review:

Thanks very much!!!
Wet welcome. Let me know if I can help further ✌🏻
Great video. Please let me know the difference between this version vs the previous remington one. Thanks
high bob, i believe the RX7 has a more mobile head [+30%]. Revised and slimmer ergonomics in the hand ,and better LED battery indication 👍
thanks for the review, i've had the same as you man. nice bald cut but problems around ears and hell of irritation at the back of me neck. the cut is great but the irritation is awful, any advice? considering returing it, but maybe i'll give it a one or two more goes under the wet or not pushing so much.
I’m afraid I don’t have any wisdom. I switched back the wahl balding clippers and wet shaving occasionally 🪒 💦 hope you find a solution 🙏🏻
I’m sure your aware but the balding clippers also come as wireless option and rechargeable which I have and makes them very portable and easy to use.. although they don’t get as close as a foil. But I’m considering the pitbull skull shaver as my brother swears by them.
Cordless balding clippers would be pretty perfect for me. Thanks 👍
Regarding replacement heads, I can only find xr1700 heads. Will these fit the 1600? Argos sell them but not sure if they fit
Agree with his review. I bought a regular shaver to do my neck as the rem doesnt do concave very well. Also use light shaving cream makes it easier as well.
thanks for watching and for sharing 💈😃
The blade has fallen off and nothing seems broken, not able to put it back on. Any tips?
I've using this shaver for 1 year now, and its the best thing i bought in a while. I have some pimples or dots (sorry for the english) in my head, which get cut and make me bleed if i use a traditional shaver. With this machine i can get the closest to the traditional shaver without getting cuts or popping those pimples. 10/10 would recommend it. if mine broke, I would instatly would go to the store to buy the same one, thats how good it is! :)
Thanks for sharing Diogo. great beard 👏
Thanks mate :D@@OwenJackson
Very welcome. Beard bros 🤙🏻
I’m sure you’ll be bossing it in no time 👍 💈
I’ve been hearing great things about the Leaf range.
Sounds awesome. Will check it out. Thanks for watching and the comment 🙏🏻
By far my favourites [review here: Wahl Balding Clipper Review
ua-cam.com/video/lXSzTeto9BA/v-deo.html ]
I have been experimenting with a razor 🪒 and using it whilst having a hot shower so makes a lot of sense.
All the best and hope you find a good solution.
The Oneblade is good for tidying up but I found the blades too costly for permanent use. More of a tidy up job
how long does the shaving head last? because you can't find a replacement head..
They’ve been fantastic so far 🙌🏻 Kept my feet dry even when walking through streams! Full review drops tomorrow 📺 Will you be checking it out?
I have the same issues where it misses hair around the ear area…use the flip down trimmer incorporated into the shaver which you also use to trim up the side burns!!
Thanks Jake. You’re totally right, maybe it was my technique but I couldn’t make the flip out trimmer cut well and found the whole shaver cumbersome whilst navigating the area. And I was worried about catching my beard as it twizzled round trying to find the angles 😆
How are you finding the RX7 overall?
Just can't beat a blade is still great for convenience
I've had 3 pitbull shavers over the last 18 months. They have all quit working. Don't waste your money
hi Doug, thanks for the real world feedback. what are you currently using to shave your head? Hope you have more success in the future
@@OwenJackson Remington Balder Pro. So far so good
I’ve had 2 pitbull they don’t last not sure what my next shaver will be
@@dwa3093Hi. Is Pit bull any better vs Remington?
@@sergglukhov267it's not. My last pitbull died in 5 months. I tried to get it to warranty, mission impossible. And quality of shaver and blads is like a bad Chinese toy. Avoid them.
Where the hell can you buy replacement heads for the RX7?
Good Honest review
I've been meaning to get some and this might be the persuasion I need 😃
All the best with your adventures and barefoot journey. It sounds like you're well on your way after 8 years.. .there's no going back to 'conventional' foot coffins after experiencing the joy of barefoot shoes right!!🦶
thanking for review !! save my money and my time
Glad to help 👍
Thank you for this review bruv. I'm going to pay the extra and get the Pitbull Platinum. I've only seen good reviews and heard firsthand praise. I'm still going to use my blade but when it's mid-week and I cba for a full blade shave the pitbull will do the job.
thanks for watching Babul. a bald head really suits you 🤙
I’ve just purchased 1, in route to pick it up now, I used to use the skull shaver platinum pro, really good shaver but after 10 months it’s stopped charging and the warranty was to much hassle, hoping this 1 lasts even though it’s only 1/3 the price
Hope it gives you great value for money. Let me know how you get on 👍
@@OwenJackson the rx7 is definitely a closer shave then the skull shaver that I can’t use any more, I noticed that where the rx7 is such a close shave its a lot less comfortable for me to use as the rx7 feel likes it’s literally scratching my head and I did end up with a fairly sore neck, I’m going to try it with some sensitive shaving foam and see how I get on with that, I am absolutely chuffed with the end result though as like I said before, it’s a closer shave
When you get it right, I agree, shave is great. Just battling the sensitivity issues too 👍 hope you find what you’re looking for 😊
I returned the pit ball the next day I found it unless the motor was having a hard time when I put a little force on my head my old rx5 never had a problem and cut way closer with a 2 year old blade still
Interesting. I was under the impression the pitbul was better but lots of anecdotes such as this are surfacing. I don’t have personal experience of it so always curious to hear from people such as yourself ✌🏻 thanks for the comment
@@OwenJackson I'm picking up the RX7 today after work 🏆
Let me know what you think 💭 🪒
It works perfectly and super close. Just don't press, let it glide and use it WET!!!
If you wet the blades under with water the shave will be smoother and closer, guaranteed.
Thanks for the insight. Will try that 👍
@@OwenJacksonDid you end up trying it? am contemplating getting the RX7 but not 100% sold as yet
Ive got the rx5. And yeah it simply doesnt shave as close as a razor...it does work better when head is wet with shaving gel than using it dry...but its never gonna be as good a razor if your wanting a clean shaven head
I used the philips green one across my whole head today, now its landed me here 😂 may get the rx7
Respect to you my shaved friend 🙌🏻 🪒👨🏻🦲
Where to buy blades head replacement? For either RX5 or RX7?
Hi. I’ve had confirmation that replacement heads can be purchased directly from Remington for £25 including VAR and shipping. Hope that helps ✌🏻
Argos for the RX7
Thanks for watching and sharing. It's great you're utilising different tools for different jobs 💈🪒
The best head shaver, even better / smoother and faster than single blade or gillette i have been using the rx5 for over a year (still sharp) and the rx7 for 2 weeks
- I agree with you on the moisturising but since im dry skin i put aftershave balm on anyway.
- I i geet cuts too when i try to shave the back of my neck but since its not what its made for i'm ok with that, i user a boody shaver/ single blade for that part
- Around the ear gets left behind sometimes so i use a foil shaver (Baby liss) for that area
2-3 times / week. 5 minutes and i'm always fresh and clean looking :)
No feeling like a fresh and clean cut 🧼 🙌🏻 thanks for sharing Yasir 🙏🏻
I think it'll work differently for each individual user, looks like you have very sensitive skin. Maybe you need to be more skincare proactive, vit B & silica nourishes the skin from withing. I've ordered a proshaver.
Thanks for sharing 👍 enjoy the proshaver 🪒
Loved mine, but it died after 4 months. I'm back to a regular razor and shaving cream.
You have to use circular motion.
I wet shave with a DE safety razor (Leaf Shave) 5-10mins but worth the extra effort
@@OwenJackson It's better if I wet my neck with water during shaving, and if I don't press as hard. Makes sense, really.
Wahl has a cordless version out now here in the USA….
That sounds perfect 🤩 💈
I only have Rx5, I get a better shave with mine by pouring mineral oil on my head , I get slightly better shave since my head is wet.
Thanks for the tip. Any suggestions for the brand or type of mineral oil you recommend?
i mainly just shave my head in the shower. i use the omnishaver, like a min or so, my head is shaved. even with a week of growth.
Great real world experience. Thank you 🙏🏻 I’ll check it out 🪒
@@OwenJackson you might not use any other shaver for the head; once you start using it
Great to know thank you 🙏🏻 and happy Easter 🐣
You can't adjust the blades???
correct, just one height setting
I've been using the RX7 for about a month now. I shave my head and my face with it and I have a really tough beard (I don't grow a beard, except the morning growth). I found it caused a bit of skin irritation at first but now I don't have that problem. I use the circular motion on my head and a combination of straight up and down and circular on my face. The RX7 gives me a closer cut than what I've seen on Owens head: I love the RX7 and would recommend it to anyone.
thanks for sharing your experience Alfred 👍
I bought a bullshit pitbull stuff before .The battery broken after less a year of use . My next one will be this one ,or the RX7
I’ve had a few people comment that the pitbull may not be worth the money. Hope you have better success with the RX7
What’s best shaver to use?
I wonder how "close" it actually is. I'm just using a simple razor, i guess nothin can come closer than that.
I echo your concerns and will be looking for a standard razor soon. Have you got any recommendations? 🪒
@@OwenJackson Just any safety razor tbh :) going to oldschool razors seems like the best idea. Those cartridge razors that i've been using really irritate the skin since they have so many blades. Something simple like for example Gillette King C safety razor should do the job without irritation
marginal improvements while price is 2x the rx5 model. yaaay also no electic shaver will give you smooth shave as regular blade.
Only problem keep going on off after few day atart working again
Hi guys mines cut out last night and won’t work. When I take the head off and hit the power button the motor spins but as soon as I put the head on nothing happens. Left and right of the 4 led lights also flash when I press the power button. Any suggestions?
I think it’s the same issue I experienced. Try giving the shaver guards a good clean under the tap. I also used a small screwdriver to manually turn the blade heads. I think it’s when the motor senses friction and gets stuck. And rather than forcing it and frying the motor it has a bossy fit and stops. Preventative measures 🛑
See if that works and let me know if it helps ✌🏻
I had the Pit Bull Gold Pro & it only lasted 4 months(used it no more than 10 times). It’s broken & Pit Bull won’t refund me.
Remington is better than skull shaver, and now are providing blades
Same here I bought the Beast clipper too - same problem worked perfectly fine for 3/4 months then nothing. Dead. Pathetic company. No refund whatsoever.
SHO me how to take the blades off
Grip the pivoting head in one hand and the mesh grill in another. Use your mail to loosen one of the sides of the mesh. From there just work your way around the final 3. It’s fiddly but manageable 👍
My head has a dip on top. Thank god I still have hair 🙏
Guys please can I shave my face with it?
Finaly youtuber tall the true about that shity shaver! Tnx
That fully bald feeling 🙌🏻
I’m still using the Wahl balding when I don’t need a super smooth head. The RX7 is seeing less use currently and agree I don’t think after a full wet shave would you be smitten with the electric result
Thanks again for checking in and your experience mate 🙏🏻
Consider using a safety razor.
I'm yet to try safety razor but I have been enjoying a multi blade intermittently. What's tour preferred method of shaving? 🪒
@@OwenJackson I tried almost everything. I have 5 trimmers, multi blades but it's been almost 2 years since I started using DE safety razor and this will be the last thing that I will use. All the best!
Thanks for sharing your experience 😃 Always great to hear what has worked for others. Appreciate the comment and connection 👊🏻
Its a good shaver well worth it. Just watch your neck roll fattys. 🎉
Shorter than the balding clippers??? Count me in!
Certainly are 👍 💈
It’s not your technique. The razor struggles around the ear and beard line
that's reassuring to know. thank you 👍
It sucks.
Not a close shave at all, misses lots of hairs, and greatly irritates the skin - particularly below the hairline, at the back of the neck.
You get what you pay for. You were better off with the Pitbull.
Interesting. I have heard very mixed reviews about the Pitbull. What is your experience of the Pitbull?
@@OwenJackson I have to Gold Pro and it's been great. The way the four heads pivot allow me to get a close shave with minimal effort. The back of my head is pretty sensitive. This doesn't irritate my skin. I dry shave if I'm in a rush but I prefer a damp shave with minimal shave product.
Got it. Trash.
good that i saw this... looks like a FAIL product
🙈
Have you found the replacement heads for it. The Europe site doesnt sell them for the rx5 or 7 and i realised the rx7 isnt even a model on the American site although they sell the 5s replacement
Hey Zion, I haven’t looked into replacement heads I’m afraid. I’m hoping the current head lasts a long long time. Anecdotally, I’ve read someone online emailed Remington directly about getting a replacement head. About £25. However, I don’t have first hand experience or can validate it. Have you tried any other shavers? You have an amazing head of hair by the way 🙏🏻
I just ordered, from customer service, Remington, two blades and they supplied.
