When the Director says it as shes firing the cannon, its not fear, but hatred. Shes basically snarling the line out. And it really shows the theme of how fear can so easily become hatred.
Reminds me how the message of religion can become corrupted by authoritive figures in power for their own gain, and to not listen to them blindly. That was not missed by this viewer.
yes!! the director was so far gone that she didn't hesitate to get the QUEEN murdered, spread mistrust and fear among her people and even tried to kill and hurt part of the population in order to kill nimona. she's absolutely rotten.

In the comic the movie was based on, she survives but doesn't rejoin Bal. She visits him in disguise once but doesn't reveal who she is. He spends the rest of his life looking for her in every person and animal he meets.
The creator was at a much darker point in his life at the time, if I remember his graphic memoir correctly, and wasn't out about either his gender or his mental health / neurodivergence (bipolar and ADHD). But I also think that there's something to be said for the idea that everything Nimona represents could be what's happening on the inside of anyone you meet, and so you have to treat everyone with the kindness and empathy that Nimona deserves because you'll never know if it's her.
Finally someone who realizes Ballister looks like Riz Ahmed (his voice actor) and not Pedro Pascal or Dev Patel, he's literally an animated version of Riz Ahmed, what are those people talking about lmao (btw they're all so pretty, especially Riz ❤)

Nimona made me cry. I know this movie is mainly for the LGBT+ community, but in the 80's I was treated like an outcast just like Nimona because I had really bad learning difficulties. One of my earliest memories were of parents dragging their children away from me, looking down at me with contempt, disgust, and fear like I was contagious. They looked at me like I was a monster, but I was too young and innocent to know they were just being cruel, horrible and judgemental. I assumed I did something wrong. But the thing that hurts me the most about thinking back to that moment was seeing how utterly heartbroken my mum was. These so-called "adults" that we were taught to look up to throughout our childhood treated a "special needs" child like garbage in front of her own mum. And these things have NEVER changed. Even recently a gang of 3 were ganging up on a boy with Down syndrome. I went utterly apeshit as everyone else turned a blind eye to it. I protected him, threatening to take on all of them. 1 against 3. I wished they didn't back down instantly though. They all BADLY needed a thrashing.

This was such a beautiful film, what I would give to have had this when I was a kid. Beautiful gay relationship, beautiful trans allegory, and just a wonderful message. Pretty on the nose at times but it's a kids movie, and with the topics they cover, it's better this way. Have you seen Your Name or A Silent Voice? Those are GORGEOUS movies.

Long rant ahead, i really didn't mean to write so much, but Its important to me for people to hear about this. I love this movie. since nimona is such a well done trans allegory, so as a trans woman it makes me feel so seen. so many things resonated with me, but none so much as at 18:30 in this video. that feeling is exactly what gender dysphoria feels like to me, and how i have been trying to describe it for years. when you are about to sneeze, and it just..... doesn't. it wont come out. when it gets really bad, you wait for it and try to let it out, but it won't come out. you can't breathe, you are stuck waiting, but it won't come out. you can't talk because it won't come out. you aren't even aware of your surroundings because it just won't come out. then, i do things as a woman. it could be transition hormones, or even something so simple as a change of clothes, or a simple "ma'am." and it all just goes away. not only that, but i feel even more free, like i can do anything a normal person could do. i don't feel stuck in a sneeze that will never end anymore. and this movie gave me one of those moments people sometimes ask me what it feels like, and this has always been my answer. now, i want people to be able to see this and get the information for themselves. however, like nimona said in that scene, "that's pretty close." it's not exact, it's just my best way of describing it i hope this helps someone understand us, even just a little better

Doukyuusei (Classmates in English) - an anime film and one of the first animated films I watched with gay main characters! Also very wholesome! 2. Arcane - one of the best ones and it's also in Netflix! Only 9 episodes too! 3. The Owl House - a really wholesome cartoon with really good animation and story! 4. Banana Fish - the main characters in here are part of my all time favorite couples! Trigger warning tho because this anime tackles really dark and sad themes 5. Given - another really cute couple! This anime also has really good songs! I hope that you consider! These are some of my favorite stories and characters! I'd love to see you react to them!

this is absolutely one of my fav childrens movies of ALL TIME along with The Book of Life. they’re the kinds of movies that just stick with you and make you smile every time you remember them.

And it is okay to cry when the movie reaches out and tugs your emotions. Takes great writing, acting, animation and music to get that reaction. Long rant ahead, i really didn't mean to write so much, but Its important to me for people to hear about this.
I love this movie. since nimona is such a well done trans allegory, so as a trans woman it makes me feel so seen. so many things resonated with me, but none so much as at 18:30 in this video. that feeling is exactly what gender dysphoria feels like to me, and how i have been trying to describe it for years. when you are about to sneeze, and it just..... doesn't. it wont come out. when it gets really bad, you wait for it and try to let it out, but it won't come out. you can't breathe, you are stuck waiting, but it won't come out. you can't talk because it won't come out. you aren't even aware of your surroundings because it just won't come out. then, i do things as a woman. it could be transition hormones, or even something so simple as a change of clothes, or a simple "ma'am." and it all just goes away. not only that, but i feel even more free, like i can do anything a normal person could do. i don't feel stuck in a sneeze that will never end anymore. and this movie gave me one of those moments
people sometimes ask me what it feels like, and this has always been my answer. now, i want people to be able to see this and get the information for themselves. however, like nimona said in that scene, "that's pretty close." it's not exact, it's just my best way of describing it i hope this helps someone understand us, even just a little better

I'M SO GLAD THAT YOU LOVED NIMONA!!! It made me cry! If you ever want to watch more animated films/series that have queer main characters/couples, I suggest these:
1. Doukyuusei (Classmates in English) - an anime film and one of the first animated films I watched with gay main characters! Also very wholesome!
2. Arcane - one of the best ones and it's also in Netflix! Only 9 episodes too!
3. The Owl House - a really wholesome cartoon with really good animation and story!
4. Banana Fish - the main characters in here are part of my all time favorite couples! Trigger warning tho because this anime tackles really dark and sad themes
5. Given - another really cute couple! This anime also has really good songs!
I hope that you consider! These are some of my favorite stories and characters! I'd love to see you react to them!

And it is okay to cry when the movie reaches out and tugs your emotions. Takes great writing, acting, animation and music to get that reaction. And this one does all of those real well getting the whole range from laughing to aggravation to tears.
