For anyone wondering, this is a mishmash of various concepts: The Kevlar plates are still capable of working successfully despite being old, so that part is feasible. They lose a few % effect over the years- However, using the bathroom ceramic tiles: 6mm is very low to even stop a 7.62x39 lead core, that is the easiest to stop of the assault rifle rounds. At least get 12mm or more of porcelain or marble tiles that you have tested before mounting. The gaps between tiles should not be there, even commercial sapi plates that uses smaller tiles use thicker tiles to compensate for the weak spots between them. Best cheap option for tiles are alumina, that are widely used in other industries and thereby not as expensive compared to SiC or Boron carbide ceramics often used in ballistic protection. Fiberglass used has to be S-grade if possible and not mixed fiber mesh, continues fibers are needed for ballistic protection.
The basics of using the surplus Italian plates with the german flak jacket makes a brilliant cheap setup, i quite like the idea you came up with despite the mix of materials
I can recommend to read the book "body armor" by Jake Gonar

thanks for the good vibes sir. solid comment :) . very much agree with what you said, i too pointed out in the video somewhere that i would recommend two layers of the 6mm tiles in combination of the kevlar plates to stop a 7.62 .

Although your English is heavily accented, youspeak it very well and are very concise in your presentation of the subject matter. (far better than I could ever speak your native tongue LOL) In all this is possibly the best video on the subject that I have seen on UA-camrs

@@OffGridEnclave shoot it with a muzzleloader or something. hit it with a high powered slingshot. just because it doesnt have fire behind it, doesnt mean the power isnt there.

if you're not making a test piece to familiarize yourself with the process you shouldn't be trusting any armor you make anyways

@@nicepojos8766 more or less like expected. .357 handgun is "easy" to stop. for .30Nato a 9mm Kevlar Plate with three layers of 6mm ceramics on top was needed.
