This is a great question. For me, social media presence (UA-cam) helped me a lot in my job search. Most of my interviewers have seen my UA-cam videos and I had a greater chance of getting opportunities because of this channel. However, I strongly suggest you think about what you like to do and your personal strengths before jumping into creating a Instagram account and sharing insights. Hey Aliena, thanks for the video, it is great! I was wondering, when you say you apply to 15 companies a day during 30 min, do you only send your resume or also a cover letter and if so, could you let me know what you wrote in it and do you personalize it for each company (but I guess not if you only take 2 min for 1 company...). Thanks in advance!
This is a great question, I usually only sent out a resume on indeed. If the company requires a cover letter, I used a cover letter template online (please look for one that suits you the most) and change the company name in the cover letter.
Hi, so you said you got your first job through a recruitment agency, did they charge you for it? I m in the same position now but not sure if I can trust them.
no, I didn’t pay anything. Most large companies roles are actually in these recruiting agencies. You will be getting a full time contractor role, and later could convert to full time employee.
I saw your channel just this week and im already hooked up and learning a lot on ux/ui design Thank you for the information. I have a question so i have made my portfolio at Behance and aslo made my resume, but when i apply on indeed or linkedln should i send just my resume or compile some of my works and send along with my resume ?
Compile some of works into a nice long case study in pdf. Then upload these pdfs into a folder on google drive. After that, you can share the link of that folder as a portfolio. l hope l helped you out.
Thank you so much for the support! Regarding your question, I actually include the link of my portfolio into the resume on the top, and then only sent out my one page resume. I haven't tried out compiling portfolio to PDF, so I'm not sure how much that would help.
I wish I could have watched this video earlier! I made so many mistakes while looking for a UX designer job in 2024. Thanks for your sharing, those tips are so helpful!!
Hi, I recently started my UX certification. I have no experience or no technical background. May I know how I can prepare myself to get a job in UX design. I am open to do any volunteer work or internships. Looking forward to hearing from you
I totally feel you!! I'm also a new college grad and didn't get into any internships that I applied to😭 Don't give up, I did a project on the side and used indeed to find the full time role. It wasn't easy for sure.
Hi Aliena! Thank you so much for the video! You mentioned that you had a part-time job at a start-up before you had a full-time job. My question is how did you get the part-time opportunity? I've taken some courses, done some projects, and had my portfolio ready. I'm at a stage where I think I'm fully prepared for some real-world projects. But now I'm feeling it's hard even to find part-time/contractor/internship opportunities. Did you find your part-time opportunity through Indeed?
This is a great question! I found my part-time opportunity through a lot of networking. Someone reached out to me to help with his startup idea. In your case, I suggest you to apply to any internship/full time/ contractor roles available on indeed and networking at the same time. Maybe spend at most on this and put some time for yourself too because networking and job hunting is super stressful. I'm sure you'll make it!
Hi Aliena! Thanks for sharing valuable key points and you are amazing. I have a question about resume. Which points need to add in resume for fresher or self taught UI/UX designer?
Wow.... I was happy just seeing the title oG the video. Not just for you but for myself as well. I want to take the google course and I'm not sure how employable I'll be after that. I'm glad to hear how far you've come... Cheers

Hey Aliena, thank you so much for this video! It's really helpful! I am planning to start this UX google course! Any other recommendations for begginers?
Glad it was helpful! I think for beginners, the best thing to do is to learn the solid skills and knowledge without overthinking about when I'm going to get the job 👍 One step at a time and you will make it to where you want to be ❤️
just a question, theres no difference between UI/UX and UX designer is there? Im trying to become a UI designer only. would that be possible? or do companies prefer more UI/UX over UI only?
If you know all the UI stuff, you can just look at a few videos to understand the UX side (it’s less technical and pretty much a framework for problem solving) I still suggest you to go after roles named UIUX designer because you can totally do the work and the pay could be higher 👍🏼
I just finished my case study today and the feeling of completing it was so overwhelming! The experience of learning was so great and your videos keeps me motivated to continue my work..
I just started job searching after redoing the 2 case studies in my portfolio and wow, it feels like it just isn't going to happen when I see jr job postings asking for 2 years experience); I have been told I should get a real project under my belt but not sure what problem I can solve for local businesses... as they mostly seem to want logos, social media or a webpage built
I was in your situation a year ago, totally lost. I went ahead and took a webpage project and it really helped me with adding real life project in my portfolio and gaining real life experience. It's totally ok to take some "sketchy" projects in the beginning and improve from there. You got this!
Through networking. I got all my side gigs through making friends/ social media / linkedin, etc. Really recommend a networking book called "never eat alone"
Thanks Aliena for making this amazing video, which gives the junior designer lots of hope and suggestion. Keep improving yourself and one day your time will come :)

Like 2 min in, and you’ve cracked the case on my job hunt struggles! I’m not passing the AI screen because my resume is too fancy. 🎩
you should drop a merch
(only red hoddies)... hahaha
Wow haha ❤️😀😂 That’s a great idea!
I wish I could have watched this video earlier! I made so many mistakes while looking for a UX designer job in 2024. Thanks for your sharing, those tips are so helpful!!
You are the most helpful, amazing, adorable person EVER!!! Thank you for pulling back the curtain and sharing everything!! YOURE THE BEST💖💖💖💖💖💖
And thank you so much for the support and comment ❤️❤️❤️🎈
Hi, I recently started my UX certification. I have no experience or no technical background. May I know how I can prepare myself to get a job in UX design. I am open to do any volunteer work or internships. Looking forward to hearing from you
did you search for UX Designer roles or Product Designer roles? or both?
I mainly searched for UX designers junior, sometimes product designer
ur awesome! thanks for sharing this
Thanks for commenting and support❤️❤️
Very useful. Thank you Aliena
You’re welcome 😊
Hello, Aliena! I appreciate your advice!
This is interesting and I love it...do you mind being a friend/tutor ? I'm a junior uiux designer
You’ve been sharing useful info. Thanks so much! I have a UX interview coming up soon. Your videos have really been helpful.
Glad it was helpful! I wish you all the best for your UX interview!! So proud of you.
Thank you soo much I needed this
You’re very welcome 🙌
I’m looking to get into the ux design field and I really need help with picking a program
Its also been hard finding internships as a college grad as as many of them are selective for those that still in undergrad.
I totally feel you!! I'm also a new college grad and didn't get into any internships that I applied to😭 Don't give up, I did a project on the side and used indeed to find the full time role. It wasn't easy for sure.
Thanks for the video, quite useful ☺️☺️☺️
Thanks for the comment and support ❤️
Yeah the resume tip is legit. lol
Thank you!
I think it's just a course, not a guarantee to get a job, Am I right?
you gave us some real advices. Thanks a lot!
Your info is always useful! Thanks so much Aliena and I am happy for you as well! :D
You're so welcome! Thank you soooo much for the support ❤️
I am just like you taking google certification
加油!
@@AlienaCai 還有很多路要走,剛剛上完course 1
Hey Aliena! Should I make my resume not with a design tool even if I'm applying to a graphic designer role?
I would suggest not using a design tool, because most of the time it’s the recruiters who scan your resume.
I'm sure you'll make it!
how did you find out that its better to do a resume on word document rather than a design tool?
Hello Aliena, thanks for your videos, I just have a question, is learning languages like html, CSS at the same time benefit ?
Have a good day.
It can be beneficial but it’s not really required. I think the most important tool you need to master is Figma 👍🏼
Really appreciate it
Thank you!
Thanks alot for the information! 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Aliena! Thanks for sharing valuable key points and you are amazing. I have a question about resume. Which points need to add in resume for fresher or self taught UI/UX designer?

Is it ok to use Notion temple for the CV? 🥺🥺
Wow.... I was happy just seeing the title oG the video. Not just for you but for myself as well. I want to take the google course and I'm not sure how employable I'll be after that. I'm glad to hear how far you've come... Cheers
Thank you so much ❤️ All the best to your career!
Do you work from home?
I do! And I love it 😄😄 (Occasionally I go to the office but we don't require us to be there)
This video is really REALLY useful!!!
People, take notes, she speaks truth! I wish I had a chance to watch this video many years ago!

Love this Video!!!!! Thanks for providing Hope
You are so welcome!
Hey Aliena, thank you so much for this video! It's really helpful! I am planning to start this UX google course! Any other recommendations for begginers?
Glad it was helpful! I think for beginners, the best thing to do is to learn the solid skills and knowledge without overthinking about when I'm going to get the job 👍 One step at a time and you will make it to where you want to be ❤️
@@AlienaCai thank you for your quick reply! yes you are right! Will start the coursera google UX/UI course next week! Thank you! Have a great day 🤩
just a question, theres no difference between UI/UX and UX designer is there? Im trying to become a UI designer only. would that be possible? or do companies prefer more UI/UX over UI only?
If you know all the UI stuff, you can just look at a few videos to understand the UX side (it’s less technical and pretty much a framework for problem solving) I still suggest you to go after roles named UIUX designer because you can totally do the work and the pay could be higher 👍🏼
Thank you for sharing, it helps me greatly. I love your channel.🥰🥰🥰
I'm so glad!
Everything you say is so relatable. I'm currently on the 5th course of the certification.
Keep going!
This video is really helpful. Thanks very much!
You're very welcome!
I just finished my case study today and the feeling of completing it was so overwhelming! The experience of learning was so great and your videos keeps me motivated to continue my work..
I'm so glad to hear that. Thanks for sharing!
Great advice. I'm still not sure how you got your first part time role though. Through an agency?
Through networking. I got all my side gigs through making friends/ social media / linkedin, etc. Really recommend a networking book called "never eat alone"
Love the content. Just finishing up course 3 right now for google. I will keep using your videos as a hand holding tool through all this🙃. Keep it up!
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you for sharing! This is so helpful and provides a different angle about uxd resume! Looking forward to see more!
