I just obtained my Google UX certificate as you can say I am fresh piece of white paper in this design industry. What you have mentioned the idea of thinking internationally really hit me, cuz I just remembered what the course said " always think about the next billion users who are not a tech savy, or first computer or phone user, or someone who is non-English speaker". I am also a Chinese live in North America. So I can't agree more on how sometimes we forgot to think about our root and culture when it comes to design. Wish you the best luck to your future.

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my UA-cam channel 5 months ago about self development. Now I have 315 subs and almost > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.

I suggest you to work on the thing you want to start full time and try to find a job part time. That's what I did before I got my eBay job and it helped me a lot on building a personal brand early.

It seems like it would be very difficult to think about the Chinese market because of the Chinese Communist Party and what an iron grip they have over what content their citizens can view and how much of the online world their citizens can participate in. It’s understandable that Chinese immigrants would focus on English and on the Anglosphere. But I so want the CCP’s power over the Chinese people to be destroyed and for the Chinese people to have all the freedoms that those in the West enjoy that if more Chinese designers focusing on China helps being this about, then I’m all for it.

Hi, this is a great question and I don't have a right answer because I don't know your situation. I think part of my confidence comes from an insane amount of practice and failure in the design industry. The google course was not the only practice I took. I started doing and learning design since 13 years old and has been doing UIUX related projects for over 10 years. If you think the Google course is not enough, do more personal projects, then take on free projects. Wish you the best 👍
Like the approach of international. Especially if you see a lot of users are in this demographic. It's a scary idea that teams will be smaller as it's already like winning the lottery to break into the UX world as a junior and so many layoffs

“I was born to live, not work.” Interesting concept. But we were created to work and to create and to achieve. When we’re not working towards a goal, we get depressed and bored, both of which can lead to really negative behaviors. So even if we’re not “working” in the traditional sense of performing for an employer, we need to still always be “working” on something. Work and achievement are a huge part of what gives our life meaning and joy. And we still need to make a living. So maybe “working” needs an image makeover. 😂 I don’t know. But these are great concepts to facilitate great conversations.

I think part of my confidence comes from an insane amount of practice and failure in the design industry. The google course was not the only practice I took. I started doing and learning design since 13 years old and has been doing UIUX related projects for over 10 years. If you think the Google course is not enough, do more personal projects, then take on free projects. Wish you the best 👍

“I was born to live, not work.” Interesting concept. But we were created to work and to create and to achieve. When we’re not working towards a goal, we get depressed and bored, both of which can lead to really negative behaviors. So even if we’re not “working” in the traditional sense of performing for an employer, we need to still always be “working” on something. Work and achievement are a huge part of what gives our life meaning and joy. And we still need to make a living. So maybe “working” needs an image makeover. 😂 I don’t know. But these are great concepts to facilitate great conversations.
