    Using Pythagorean theorem, 500√ + 50.5√ = 502.54 and 502.54 × sin(87.1) =501.89 making the cliff 1.89 higher. Please correct me if I'm incorrect here .

    why is your physics topic and the way you solve it is so simple. Our teachers require us to solve using what they've taught us....

    Why is the angle not -87.1 and instead it is 272.9? I get you did it counter clock wise, but I don’t understand why.

    • @tylerkeechh
      @tylerkeechh Рік тому +12

      If you look at a unit circle and go counterclockwise 87.1° you will end up at 272.9°. They are equivalent but you typically do not want to write a negative angle. Another way to do this is by taking the negative angle and adding 360 to get the correct angle. -87.1 + 360 = 272.9

      It’s 9.8 and going down so it’s negative 9.8 as the direction, acceleration is a vector so it needs direction

      @@Marranragehnah, it suits this case, but it only works to check how long it takes to go from beginning to end of this projectile motion scenario. Its very specific-case, and its better to use the whole formula like he does in the video

    Didn't he calculate the time for if you drop the ball straight down from a height 500 meters, the horizontal velocity would make the path longer then 500 M which would take longer for it to hit the ground. Unless I'm confused

    • @singularityproject
      @singularityproject 7 місяців тому +1

      The horizontal distance it travels doesn't matter. You're solving for the time it takes to hit the ground from 500 meters so the only factor to consider is the constant downwards acceleration due to gravity. While the path taken is longer, the time it takes to fall is still the same.
