Or just buy bunch of vet-snacks and give them to a pet every time they got sick). They will get dirty if they was sprayed by a skunk. Game litteraly just tell you that in an notification.
Exactly! Dogs or cats are nightmares with a bush around. It annoys me to the point that I (if i don't want to remove the bush) I fence it and lock it for pets.
I can actually help with some of the issues you were having in this Let's Play. 1) Sick pets: Cats and dogs will get sick quite often if they are elderly, or simply going outside as adults. The trick is to get the exam table to check them out and either a) use the cone of shame (30 simoleons) to cure pretty much anything, or b) raise up your veterinary skills and administer the right treatment (20 or 25 simoleons). The bush will also multiply the number of times pets get sick as they love to fight squirrels in there and will catch a fever more easily. Just put a fence around it, or straight up remove it if you want to avoid it. 2) Gardening out of season: You can easily grow plants out of season by moving them inside and alternating them with the seasons. That way, you can grow every plant year-round and keep their qualities. 3) Electricity when off the grid: You were actually using the right equipment there. However, you were probably autoselling your utilities by default. You can disable autoselling by clicking the mailbox and going into the details of your bills. That should fix it for off-the-grid electricity and water use. 4) Painting from reference: The best way to paint from reference in The Sims is to use the tablet. However, this would break the immersion in such Let's Plays. Instead, you can carry around the easel and start your painting from anywhere to get beautiful pictures of the scenery. You can then finish it off wherever by moving the easel or putting it in your sim's inventory and carrying it around. 5) Wasting your time gardening: Buy a scarecrow and make friends with them. They will give you company, play with the dog, and take care of your garden for you. You can even have multiple helpers that way! 6) The feathers: When your pet brings you feathers they "found," you can collect one of each type and build a bird sculpture out of them. It sells for a lot of money! Hope that helps!
that's great advise! as for number 3 - satch actually set it to store instead of auto sell so that is still strange that he didn't have enough electricity
I believe it's basically all outdoor bins that once knocked over are no longer functional and have to just be replaced. It's just more evidence that EA doesn't care at all about having the game maintained.
Gardening Shanice can talk to plants for her social needs. It also improve her gardening skill. Place the easel sideways to the window, or facing away from it. That way, it won't be in the way of what you want to paint. Use roof mounted wind turbine and solar panels. Ground wind turbines and solar panels always break, while roof ones are indestructible.
I made myself an off-grid challenge in the Sims 3. I used someone's fantasy world that had nothing modern in it and I deleted all the buildings and used a mod to delete all the traffic, boats, street lights, etc. The story was that there was some EMP or something and all power was lost. My couple, Jane and John Doe, hiked out of the city as it started to descend into riots and ended up in Prepperville, a tiny community of 10 families living completely off-grid. Jane and John built a little log cabin and started gardening and raising chickens and cows and fishing. They could only eat what they grew, had to use a fireplace for heat in the winter, had to have an outdoor toilet and keep their food in a cellar (i.e. fridge in the basement). They weren't allow to have much of anything in their house, other than what they needed to live. Every generation of the Doe family, I allowed them to build one civilizational improvement. As soon as they had their first baby (every woo-hoo had to be "try for a baby because, you know, no birth control during the apocalypse), "they" built a market. From then on, they could walk to the market and sell their produce and fish--or buy produce and meat--at the market (but never out of their inventory). Once they had enough money, they had to buy the market lot (this was the only business where it went backwards, because there was no other way to do it financially; after this, the family had to buy a lot first and then pay to put a civilizational improvement on it). The next generation built a military base. (I built my own base above ground and then put the rabbithole base underground, so it functioned as a base, but looked the way I wanted it to.) The military base was for the defense of the community and the eldest male in the family from here on out has to serve in the military. The military base was allowed to have solar panels, a computer, and workout equipment, which anyone in the community could use. I think the next generation built a church, which served as a community gathering point and it had musical instruments and playground equipment. Then another generation built a school (again, rabbithole school in the basement) and it allowed the community to have access to books--although it meant children had to now go to school instead of staying home all day and helping out on the farm. Then another generation built a cemetery and finally all the family graves had a place to go (getting ghosts out of the house). And so on for 10 generations. Also, with every generation, I added another family to the community, so the community expanded and the Doe family had a pool of potential spouses. It was fun. I never finished playing it all the way to 10 generations, but I got pretty far. I really wanted to replicate it in the Sims 4 when I got it, but it's not really possible. Even with off-grid and simple living challenges, you can't have the same immersion as a world that literally had dirt roads and not a modern anything in sight.
For a moment I thought "why not make it so that the other families in the community are the descendent the children from each generation that weren't picked as the hire?have a community that is literally one big family" And then you mentioned the thing about needing to expand the dating pool. does the challenge have a way to deal with a same-sex couple as the main legacy heirs?
Have to agree. And your sim always casually pulls out a cellphone and starts typing. Its so damn annoying since I'm playing an old west legacy. Even their clothes aren't accurate but i dont feel like downloading a bunch of cc for that one save
There is a glitch going on in the game where if you don't live inside a house and you have a pet, they will CONSTANTLY get dirty or sprayed by skunk, etc. Makes off grid living annoying as heck!
This kinda happened in my game too but im pretty sure it was because i had one of these toilet/bed/whoho bushes that my dog went in to and fought squirrels
There’s also a bug rn where the rice cooker and kettles make invisible stink and disgust sims even when they’re new and never been used (: No mods, on console
I get the trash can glitch with every standard outdoor can. I highly recommend spending more money for the white electric can with the lights on it; you get money for everything you put in it, you never have to empty it, it can go inside of your house, and it can NEVER be tipped over! Take that, glitchfest. 😁
It's been so fun watching you do this playthrough xD So much so you inspired me to try the challenge.... only for fishing to be broken on the island. Thanks EA. xD
Ok, there is a trick to using things that use power while on an off the grid lot. Keep the items, like the exam table, in your family inventory until you actually need them. This is because whether they are in use or not, they are always using power. So with them just sitting there they are draining all of your power, only take them out when you need them.
I made a mermaid and started on the island with no money... Had to cheat for the first meal but I'm living off the land 😂 no house just a fire pit and a bush
I put a like on the video because it's Satch but if I hadn't done it yet the "painting of the painting" would have decided me😂🎨 also the "need sugar daddy" on the dog
You mean he STILL hasn't learned that off the grid items need to have their utility usage turned off?! The fridge mate, the fridge used all of your power.
So I could be wrong, I can't try it right now, but there's a generator in Eco lifestyle isn't there? Maybe you need that in order to story electricity properly, since it seems like your electricity isn't being stored and it's just saying there's a surplus when any is generating or there's none as soon as it stops
I have the same glitch with outdoor bins! I have to buy a new bin every in game day because someone always turns up on my lot and knocks it over, it's so annoying!
I say just once break immersion. Go to the vet clinic. Go to the vending machine in the waiting room and buy a ton of Vet Wellness treats. Then whenever the dog gets sick give them one.
You can buy wellness treats from the vet vending machine or from debug objects, and those will heal your sick pets without going to the vet or buying a examination table (which requires power)
I believe off the grid items like the fridge will use power if it's available - You can stop it from doing that by clicking on it. I believe though, that you can only do it during the short time that you have power.
Don't use trash cans with an open top, they're glitched - or you can get a mod that fixes that! Also, you can get a lot trait that's 'private' or some such, and then others won't come over. (To save money you can either get a mod that lets you buy healing treats, or just buy a vet vending machine that lets you buy healing treats, so you don't have to use the machines.)
I really hate how the dogs and cats IMMEDIATELY get sick and keep getting sick. Like there is no other gameplay with them that is so protrudingly underlined than taking them to the vet and back...
Fr they are such a hassle. You cant even control them, but they're still completely dependent on other sims, like either make them controllable or make them better at looking after themselves, so they can at least be like an immersive thing in some households
It's a long standing bug where bins can be knocked over and not picked up. The only bin that you can pick up without issue is the rolling bin. The issue is, I believe, is that Eco Living made it so bins gets kicked over by random Sims after rummaging around. However they never added the picking up action to all bins! Only the rolling bin can be picked up. Another stupid bug where EAxis didn't consider cross-pack compatibility.
Poor Courgetty Courgette! Now you are upsetting animalists, are you aware of that? Just add them to the list of your UA-cam "enemies" 🤣 Jokes aside, this gameplay is hilarious. 🤣
Satch - bins has been broken in the Sims 4 for years. (Was it Cottage Living or an earlier pack that broken them? Does anyone remember?) As a result, I always use the apartment trash shut, as the sims can't kick it over and break it.
If the dog has other things to do it won’t keep going in the bush making it get dirty and sick as much. It will still go to it a lot but the game system looks for activities to do and with limited activities it’s gonna keep going to the bush with high likelihood for fights and dirtiness
Ive had that bin glitch before with certain bins and dont know if to this day it still happens, its very frustrating There is a mod to treat your dog at home if theyre sick (just a button that says treat illness or something) i always play it I hate the illnesses
