Hope yall enjoy! Bonus video this week. This was so fun, definitely settling for round 2!! I forgot to mention this was street gearing. I still like to ride it on the street
Id get a seat that curves up behind you and cradles you if you plan to keep drag racing it. Maybe find a way to move the food controls further back so you can get into a leaned forward position for aerodynamics. Also the water is for getting your tire wet for a burnout. You get it wet, then pull forward out of it for the burnout so it actually burns and gets sticky. A burnout in the water wont do must and your tire will still be wet causing slippage on takeoff. Good luck in your future races
nice cutting of footage but add a bit more detaiil should be great , otherwise if anyonen needs more i would suggest they get out ther and try it on their own
Don't let the jr dragster fool you, thats a $4,000 + all billet alcohol engine based on a Briggs Stratton flat head. They also run an all billet polar clutch variable transmission (torque converter) .halfscale.com/product/nic-woods-8-90-top-shelf-engine/
Tips from a seasoned drag racers. Your doing your burnout in the water, spin the tire a bit in the water pull forward out of the water and do the burn out. You have a wheelie bar use it, rev it up and aggressively let the clutch out, increase rpms till the tire doesn't hold the power. When you're looking down the drag strip you can see where everyone's wheels are, plant the bike in either tire path, thats where the traction is. There's no added traction in the center of a drag strip. Badass bike it definitely had potential. I personally think your gearing is to high. Give it more gear for a faster top speed. P.s harleys aren't slow mines 7.5s in the 1/8 and 11.67 in 1/4 mile.
Or if you have street tires just drive around the water, try to spin them really quick and then run. The tread captures the water, sends it on the fender and then it rains back down during your run.
It takes practice you'll get the hang of It. I thought I was king of the streets on my ZX14 Then I hit a test and tune night at the local 1/8 Mile. I was getting smoked by 600s But I never gave up I run a Gen 2 V-Max now. 9.7 In the 1/4 at nearly 60 years old the need for speed will go with me to my grave. Keep at it kid. You got plenty of talent . I see you doing great things.
Yes, junior dragsters run in the high 7’s at my track. You did pretty well for your first attempt. When you do a burn out get the wheel spinning and let it come out of the water. The way you did your burn out you pulled water with you out of the box and your slick was still wet.
That motor is in no way at max potential, ask for some help from someone who knows well 2stroke engines because it's a completely different knowledge. Just by ear you can tell it's losing power at higher rpms. Get that engine sorted and you will easily smoke those other bikes. Great job, keep it going.
Blaster engines do not reach revs as high as a stock 2 stroke 250 dirtbikes. It was a budget-friendly engine, yes it's powerful but if you think you're going to get in the RPM range of a Yz 250 you're smoking the wrong 2 stroke oil and playing too much GTA. Carb is fine unless it's been ported even then that's questionable. If it's running lean the carb is obviously big enough to give enough air to the engine which jetting is your only option to richen it out and won't always = to higher revs. A different gearset in the tranny is the next option. He also says he has street gearing on the bike if comprehensive reading is your thing, lol.
great job young man... keep it up...practice makes perfect and you are doing things that other kids only dream about... keep the wind in your face and send it!
@@pyroteckustomcycles6667 I was aware they still use freedom units, but was unaware that they used metric for the XLH Sportster line. Thanks for the info.
Racing ain’t easy. It takes a lot of practice. Seems like you need to stop short shifting and tune the carb for higher rpm power. Lose the muffler too.
LØx Shansway correct, u need back pressure for a two stroke to run right, but its mainly in the Stinger/the last part of the expansion chamber before the muffler, that is the main thing that applies back pressure in the twostroke, if u look at other drag two stroke quads or any two stroke drag machine they rarely run a muffler and rather calculate it so the stinger is enough
The expantion chamber is calculated to return exhaust pulse back to the motor. tuning the chamber to the higher rpm would work. Without the expantion chamber the bike would run like shit.
Awesome video! Glad you had fun! You and your homeaid bike did great! Couple tips: Roll through the water box and then do your burn out, study drag races on UA-cam, start to leave right before the light turns green not when you see it turn green because there is like a 12" distance rollout before the clock starts. As it was your "reaction time" is almost a full second (as printed on your time slip) you could have possibly beaten the Harley if you had a quicker reaction time. I'm not hating but offering advice cause I wanna see you beat the drunk guy on the Harley 🤣
Awesome vid! Your definitely shifting too early,, just calm down and make sure you shift cleanly at the right time and you’ll go so much faster just from being smooth. Also think your righ about your gearing. Also sounds like your tune is off...when you do the burnout it sounds rough maybe rich? hope this helps
Maybe do some ‘plug chops’ on video so we can help with the tune...... personally I thought it sounded rich on the burnout as it was ‘burbbley’ But seen comments saying they think it’s lean..... show us the spark plug please? 🤙🏻💨
Actually it really how they are built and tuned. The real truth is two strokes make power on every stroke, and with say an built 80 cc engine turning 15,000+ rpm they work really hard at it. Power is very convoluted in two strokes, compression, squish band, pipe tune, silencer, advance, even the fuel, and lube. Honestly if you want to brutally fast bike look at the old 750 triples, stock with a rider they were running sub 10 1/4 mile, do some building run alcohol possibly nitro and seven second passes happened. That’s fast in any world.
Awesome upload dude! Don’t sweat these pass times, every race build needs many engineering shake down laps. You definitely need a gas cap vent hose to keep the fuel from splashing you. Keep doing what you do!
Very courageous of you my friend, I would definitely drop down the gears and a little port matching a bit. Be sure you’re able to have good take off and good high speed it won’t be easy but it can happen, stay well and ride safe.
Vas what a great video and fantastic job on this build!!! You did really well especially first time on the track- look forward to your rematch! Keep it up, your skills just get better and better!!!
I've rode dirt bikes, quads, and 3whlrs all my life . Also raced pro mx in late 80s . 1 piece of advice when you start you should have throttle wide open and your rear wheel should spin . Master the start and dramatically improve your time . Good luck and great video
Loved it! Work on those reaction times and I think you will be more than surprised. Video made me smile. Love to see a young guy with this much enthusiasm!!
Great job for Your first time! I'll offer You some advice: 1 stay calm. If You get frustrated or beat Yourself up, YOU aren't gonna ride to the best of Your ability. 2 Unless You have bad wheelspin without a burnout, I would skip the burnout completely. You were pulling the wheel on the un prepped street in front of You house, and I'm assuming You didn't do a burnout. If it'll hook like that on the street, it'll dead hook on a prepped track.. But, IF, You do spin with no burnout, ride AROUND the burnout box and just back Your rear tire in enough to get it wet, then walk the bike out, do a burnout. In the vid You're carrying water out of the box and that is a guaranteed way to be inconsistent. 3 practice practice practice. Work on leaving as consistently as You can. 4 Take notes. The mere fact You're videoing gives You valuable data You can go back and review and build upon. Learn from Your mistakes. 5 Finally, if You decide to make changes, make them one at a time.. It seemed like You were running out of fuel up top, a common thought would be to richen it up. You could raise the needle, or go up a main jet, but NEVER make both at the same time.. Otherwise, You won't learn what made the difference, and You'll be chasing Your tail before You know it.
Drag racing is tricky. Stay out of the water you don't need it, practice starts, you're loosing a lot of time there, your 9.6 run was your cleanest, it was clear in the video. Good job keep it up!
Great Video, and you could see the folks at the drag strip appreciated something different. Hopefully a gearing change gets some quicker launches. Might also be worth dropping the rear tyre a few psi to improve grip if that's a problem
Glad to see you out ripping.Nice to see you make some new friends, and Bryce was pretty kewl to help vid.too.Awesome first evening out. You'll get your tune, and drop the time quick. We believe in you!
The key is to just go and study the tree lights to get used to the reaction. The most important is to relax and have fun and stop putting so much pressure on yourself.
One trick you can use, especially since your bike has a small diameter front wheel. When you're staging and have both white lights lit, back up until one white light goes out, then pull forward, just enough to make that light come back on. This gives you a little bit of room to move forward before you break the laser beam. You can now release the clutch, just before the green lights light up without "red lighting". Only use the tip of one finger to hold the clutch lever (the other fingers wrapped around the handle bar) and slide your fingertip off, letting the clutch lever spring outward on it's own, just a fraction of a second before the green lights light. Takes practice, but will give you an edge and show better reaction times. Good luck wild man!
Don't worry about the trash talking, you got this men!! It looks so awesome and properly built. Correct me if I'm wrong but on the first passes, the bike was acting like the tire are out of balance. Men this is really cool, thank you for share this good content.
HELLYEAH bro that's what it's all about u Redeem yourself in the end and started to get the feel for her which is so sweet I think u would gave old boy on the Harley a run for his $$$ u got caught up it happen to the best of us bro but hell yeah finally Reaping the fruits of ur labor....🤘
great, key point. dont worry bout the green light. time doesn't start till you break the beams, not when the light turns green. Race yourself for your time, not your opponent. Let the green happen, take a moment and make sure your launch is perfect. Time doesn't begin till you roll out.
Porting really wakes up a blaster engine. That cyl sounds so stock ported if it's forcing you to shift that early. You'll lose bottom end tq slip clutch on launch or gear down you'll gain alot of top rpm hp. You'll get low 9s or in the high 8's the 240 sleeve makes your transfer ports smaller as Well. Try a stock cyl bore .90 over. And remember 1/8 mile is all in the 60 ft. If you can't get it up going fast your e/t will suck if on motor no boost or juice or big hp. Lot of people like 1/8 it's hard to run good times in 1/4 takes money and lot more hp than the 1/8th mile I've seen real good e/ts low mph all gear and a working suspension.
Hey vasily, you should look into two stroke tuning, you have the skill all you need is the knowledge, your amazing at fabricating and i made my own custom exhaust without ever touching a welder or anything before that. You could make ur own tailored made exhaust for high rpm top end power, since that is where your gonna be at with the bike while drag racing, maybe also get a book called: Two stroke performance tuning by Graham Bell, some info in the book is outdated by now but its still a good read to get into the whole world of twostrokes and all the knowledge would allow you to make your mini bike perfect for the drag strip
That was awesome...I've logged several 100s of off road miles on a stroked/ported/fully modded Blaster, and that sound brought me right back. Hope to see you dip into the 8s!!@
Just wanted to add a little advice since I drag race a motorcycle When you line up in a burn out box Go around the water box back up into the water with just the rear tire get the tire a little bit wet poor forward into a dry spot then do the burn out so that your tire actually starts to smoke a little bit and then you can roll forward to a lineup at the tree awesome video keep up the great work with your mini drag bike glad to see someone having fun
Well done. Racing isn't like riding. If anyone thinks it's an easy thing to launch and hold it straight while switching gears hasn't done it. Take it from me, I've raced a lot of different types of machines and I can tell you this takes practice skill and guts.
Hope yall enjoy! Bonus video this week. This was so fun, definitely settling for round 2!! I forgot to mention this was street gearing. I still like to ride it on the street

He's shifting halfway into the powerband. He's got easy another 3,000rpm before a shift is needed.

Drop the gearing down a bit but more importantly rev it out more it think you're shifting 65% - 70% into the power band.
Nice job !!! Try to rev it a bit higher especially on high gears you’ll see the results!!
Great video and great job on your first time out. Bike didn't sound like it was hitting the high rpms that 2 strokes love...

Takes practice, but will give you an edge and show better reaction times. Good luck wild man!

That is AWESOME!!! Very cool!!!
I like how cool everyones attitudes are with you.
You could go higher octane gas with less oil in the premix to lean it out for speed
Atta boy Son!! You'll get her dialed. Rome wasn't built in a day. The old boy with the mini-dragster was cool. Most of all have fun!
Great Video.. Good to see ya hitting the strip. Be safe.
Really enjoyed the video, look like a lot of really good people at that track man!
Last gears changing to son lol you dont let the bike hit the power band ... Cool minibike
Once you nail down the take off you'll be killin it. Great build bro .
Good vid. Love the bike, great build. Can only get better man.
Awesome lil bike bub! Great video
Video was perfect. That's a bad little bike. Great job man!
Luv it!! Thats freakn badass bro!!
Perfect bro!! Keep it up! My 9 month old son loves ur vids
Well done. Racing isn't like riding. If anyone thinks it's an easy thing to launch and hold it straight while switching gears hasn't done it. Take it from me, I've raced a lot of different types of machines and I can tell you this takes practice skill and guts.
