      Id get a seat that curves up behind you and cradles you if you plan to keep drag racing it. Maybe find a way to move the food controls further back so you can get into a leaned forward position for aerodynamics. Also the water is for getting your tire wet for a burnout. You get it wet, then pull forward out of it for the burnout so it actually burns and gets sticky. A burnout in the water wont do must and your tire will still be wet causing slippage on takeoff. Good luck in your future races

      Don't let the jr dragster fool you, thats a $4,000 + all billet alcohol engine based on a Briggs Stratton flat head. They also run an all billet polar clutch variable transmission (torque converter) .halfscale.com/product/nic-woods-8-90-top-shelf-engine/

    Tips from a seasoned drag racers.
    Your doing your burnout in the water, spin the tire a bit in the water pull forward out of the water and do the burn out.
    You have a wheelie bar use it, rev it up and aggressively let the clutch out, increase rpms till the tire doesn't hold the power.
    When you're looking down the drag strip you can see where everyone's wheels are, plant the bike in either tire path, thats where the traction is. There's no added traction in the center of a drag strip.
    Badass bike it definitely had potential. I personally think your gearing is to high. Give it more gear for a faster top speed. P.s harleys aren't slow mines 7.5s in the 1/8 and 11.67 in 1/4 mile.

      Also tune your wheelie bar so it is closer to the ground. This will put more power to the ground and less power pulling the front wheel up. Good luck.

      Or if you have street tires just drive around the water, try to spin them really quick and then run. The tread captures the water, sends it on the fender and then it rains back down during your run.

    Yes, junior dragsters run in the high 7’s at my track. You did pretty well for your first attempt. When you do a burn out get the wheel spinning and let it come out of the water. The way you did your burn out you pulled water with you out of the box and your slick was still wet.

      Blaster engines do not reach revs as high as a stock 2 stroke 250 dirtbikes. It was a budget-friendly engine, yes it's powerful but if you think you're going to get in the RPM range of a Yz 250 you're smoking the wrong 2 stroke oil and playing too much GTA. Carb is fine unless it's been ported even then that's questionable. If it's running lean the carb is obviously big enough to give enough air to the engine which jetting is your only option to richen it out and won't always = to higher revs. A different gearset in the tranny is the next option. He also says he has street gearing on the bike if comprehensive reading is your thing, lol.

    Awesome video! Glad you had fun! You and your homeaid bike did great! Couple tips: Roll through the water box and then do your burn out, study drag races on UA-cam, start to leave right before the light turns green not when you see it turn green because there is like a 12" distance rollout before the clock starts. As it was your "reaction time" is almost a full second (as printed on your time slip) you could have possibly beaten the Harley if you had a quicker reaction time. I'm not hating but offering advice cause I wanna see you beat the drunk guy on the Harley 🤣

      LØx Shansway correct, u need back pressure for a two stroke to run right, but its mainly in the Stinger/the last part of the expansion chamber before the muffler, that is the main thing that applies back pressure in the twostroke, if u look at other drag two stroke quads or any two stroke drag machine they rarely run a muffler and rather calculate it so the stinger is enough

    • @mikehagen3785

    • @Paulman50
      @Paulman50 4 роки тому +2

      The expantion chamber is calculated to return exhaust pulse back to the motor. tuning the chamber to the higher rpm would work.

    One trick you can use, especially since your bike has a small diameter front wheel. When you're staging and have both white lights lit, back up until one white light goes out, then pull forward, just enough to make that light come back on. This gives you a little bit of room to move forward before you break the laser beam. You can now release the clutch, just before the green lights light up without "red lighting". Only use the tip of one finger to hold the clutch lever (the other fingers wrapped around the handle bar) and slide your fingertip off, letting the clutch lever spring outward on it's own, just a fraction of a second before the green lights light. Takes practice, but will give you an edge and show better reaction times. Good luck wild man!

    Great job for Your first time! I'll offer You some advice:
    1 stay calm. If You get frustrated or beat Yourself up, YOU aren't gonna ride to the best of Your ability.
    2 Unless You have bad wheelspin without a burnout, I would skip the burnout completely.
    You were pulling the wheel on the un prepped street in front of You house, and I'm assuming You didn't do a burnout. If it'll hook like that on the street, it'll dead hook on a prepped track.. But,
    IF, You do spin with no burnout, ride AROUND the burnout box and just back Your rear tire in enough to get it wet, then walk the bike out, do a burnout. In the vid You're carrying water out of the box and that is a guaranteed way to be inconsistent.
    3 practice practice practice. Work on leaving as consistently as You can.
    4 Take notes. The mere fact You're videoing gives You valuable data You can go back and review and build upon. Learn from Your mistakes.
    5 Finally, if You decide to make changes, make them one at a time..
    It seemed like You were running out of fuel up top, a common thought would be to richen it up. You could raise the needle, or go up a main jet, but NEVER make both at the same time.. Otherwise, You won't learn what made the difference, and You'll be chasing Your tail before You know it.

      Actually it really how they are built and tuned. The real truth is two strokes make power on every stroke, and with say an built 80 cc engine turning 15,000+ rpm they work really hard at it. Power is very convoluted in two strokes, compression, squish band, pipe tune, silencer, advance, even the fuel, and lube. Honestly if you want to brutally fast bike look at the old 750 triples, stock with a rider they were running sub 10 1/4 mile, do some building run alcohol possibly nitro and seven second passes happened. That’s fast in any world.

You could make ur own tailored made exhaust for high rpm top end power, since that is where your gonna be at with the bike while drag racing, maybe also get a book called: Two stroke performance tuning by Graham Bell, some info in the book is outdated by now but its still a good read to get into the whole world of twostrokes and all the knowledge would allow you to make your mini bike perfect for the drag strip

    That minibike looks so fun! Off to a good start, just needs some fine tuning like you said. Just a tip on the burnout. Get the tire spinning in the water but roll out (while still spinning) onto dry ground so it drys the tire off.

    Work on that bike. Upgrade everything! Lol. That little mini bike is awesome bro! Keep up the hard work and especially keep up that courage. Not many people would attempt taking something like that to the drag strip! You'll meet a lot of cool people and establish connections.

    As soon as you feel the air resistance, lean down out of the head wind. My 50cc would do 140 ks doing this.
    Thinner head gasket, I used to use valve grinding paste to seat the head onto the barrell without a gasket.
    Tune the air box, I drilled a line of holes to do this, put some electrical tape over them and at top speed slowly uncover the holes one by one till it peaked out .
    Tune the expantion chamber, longer center is low down torque and shorter chamber is for top end torque. Maybe the other way round though, I diddnt check before I wrote this.
    Open the ports, not the bottom of the inlet port, do that one by shaving the top edge inlet side of the piston. This way if you go too far you just buy another piston.
    Hope this helps, l love 2 strokes.

    Everyone got to start somewhere my dude. Hell I remember when I was a little kid we use to watch drag racing on the tv and go race our bicycles and I had a rope with a trash bag tied to the end for a parachute. It was obviously super necessary. 🤣

The video was perfect amount of behind the scenes and racing. I think you should have asked that mini dragster guy for tuning tips and trick!!! I was also thinking if your able to get a little taller rear tire would help!!

    So im thinking you can mess around with the gearing or tire size a bit and i would recommend keeping your left foot in position right where it needs to be to shift and use your right foot to balance instead.

  • @dicktrickle4197
    @dicktrickle4197 4 роки тому

    You did a great job ! I'd say lower the wheelie bar so when it rocks back on the back tire the wheelie bar is at bump stop BEFORE the front tire comes off the ground. That way you can rev it to the moon and dump the clutch. You also want to roll THROUGH the water box and do your burn out an inch ahead on the dry track while the back tire is still wet. That way you aren't flinging water on your machine to drip off down the track at high speeds. Now the pro tips. If you want a little bit faster of a time, back your clutch off just a tiny tiny bit so when you nail it you can drop the clutch and it will slip temporarily with the motor in Red line. You will feel the right amount and you will burn up clutch pads doing this but I bet if you do all these things together, run non ethanol fuel 91 with a cap full of octane booster you should be at 9.0 seconds

    • @dicktrickle4197
      @dicktrickle4197 4 роки тому

      One other thing, try out a bump stop for your tailbone on the seat. That way when green hits and you dump you won't have to fight to stay on. Your butt will be against the stop on the seat behind you 👍

    Go around the wet box , then back into the water. Pull forward a little. Then do your burn out. Pick a line to that a car tire rides in . Then stage in deep . Now it’s time to let your clutch hand slip to your pull the bike . Keep testing. Great job buddy. The gearing is important too . You have a fast bike . You just need to get some set time .
