- In this video, we're going to be comparing every version of Star Wars Episode 4 - A New Hope in Lego Games.
Original 0:33
GBA 3:35
DS Complete Saga 4:38
DS Original Trilogy 5:01
Mobile 7:25
Skywalker Saga 7:33
i love how in the original trilogy NDS port cutscenes, the characters hurt themselves
(Can be seen in 6:02/6:53)
The Skywalker saga if you presue the side quests pays special attention to the EU too, lots of references to characters/side stories not in the movies like a whole side quest that pokes fun at a rebel data machine being an ice cream machine, which was what the prop was in Empire
A New Hope is also playable in the original 2005 game based on Episodes I-III. It's basically the prologue - except it's presented in a slightly different way.
Great episode - looking forward to Empire.
Yeah, that version was actually my preferred intro sequence for that movie. It was a brilliant easter egg and one of the only LEGO levels where you can play as a bad guy.
I forgot about that was cool how you could play episode 4 from the beginning
Yes, you needed to complete all of the "True Jedi" coin collections in every level - which was only challenging in the vehicle levels...
Good point, closest thing we have to a Rogue One level, lol
Also playable as a bonus level in Complete Saga.
I've become so addicted to these videos; good job, mate! 👍
I really am loving this series so far! all the nostalgic memories and your production value really does the lego games justice!
Also, the GBA version of LSWII is such an awesome game! Far better than the first one, an absolute hidden gem
First video on my UA-cam feed, always look forward to Sunday nights, can’t wait for V-VII
This video was the one I've been waiting for! I played the hell out of the gameboy advance version to the point where the internal battery that let's you save ran out and I lost everything 😅
I also literally just remembered playing the first tatooine level on an xbox that was set up at my local Curry's/PC world. Thank you for unlocking that core memory 😅
6:50 Luke got so emotionally hurt with Obi-wan's death that it hurt him physically
All bosses:
Complete saga:
3:27 death star(final boss)
Ds:
6:43 darth vader
6:56 death star(final boss)
Skywalker saga:
10:12 dianoga
10:46 death star(final boss)
I was hoping you would mention the bonus level, in which you play as Darth Vader and invade the Tantive IV.
I love this series
Alderan being confused then blown up is 100% me
I still play the original 2 Lego Star Wars games on my Original Xbox... 100% was the hardest thing to get in LSW1 back in the day
THe NDS version of LG:SW2 was so good, but so buggy. I remember finding a way to spawn playable ships into normal character levels. And the Multiplayer was so fun, but using any character with a lightsaber would cause a crash the moment you attacked. Must have beaten it 100x over as a kid, must have been so rushed but you could feel the passion put into it.
4:25 You had me dying on the floor.😂
Can't wait til we get to the Last Jedi, and Rise of Skywalker comparisons
There won't be any lol
The first level for a new hope was always an easy level for studs. I remember using that level to farm them once I get the 2x, 4x and so on!
Even in The Complete Saga there is a noticable difference in play between the prequels and original movies.
I don't know if it was so much the developers preferred one or the other, but I think instead it was split up into two teams.
It's because all the lvls are basically directly lifted from their respective game and with Lego star wars 1 being the first Lego game in that style it's going to be more simplistic compared to the sequel where they figure out more of what they want to do.
RIP Lego Star Wars: The Clone Wars
"Sparkles makes me happy. Goodbye"
Great video
my only question is where did Leia get the cape in the hologram. She wasnt wearing one when she recorded the message!
2:20 That's Jar Jar's job.
Let's not forget that those darn helmets fall off after a SINGLE HIT and the game will just keep spamming Stormtroopers at you in A New Hope to the point you can never just relax. Whether it's grabbing an AT-ST so they can blast you to pieces or knocking your helmet off, some of those stages were absolutely infuriating as a kid.
That said, yeah, the Original Trilogy DS port is... boy if you think it's glitchy now, just you wait. It's easy to even fly out of the skybox in the Endor space battle. Amaze certainly 'amazed' with that barely assembled heap of bricks. XD
I'm not exactly sure what happened to your cover system in Skywalker Saga. I've never had an issue like that with it.
Love your videos. Did you ever play the Avatar: The Last Airbender games?? They had a lot, too!!
Main reason why the Prequel levels didn't get as much love as the Original Trilogy and Sequel is because everyone who works at Disney LucasFilm are Prequel haters!
Heres what I think of these games:
I dont feel like finding an original copy (or risk a virus) for the first LSW game
Original trilogy was my childhood
I need to play Complete saga some day, looks fun
Clone Wars was an absolute underdog of all lego games (and my childhood as well, should replay it some day)
Not gonna bother playing Force Awakens
And Skywalker Saga. Im not gonna bother to write an essay on It. Its mid.
You didn't talk about the PSP version, was it intentional because it is very similar to the PS2 version ?
PS : Great video as always :)
Ohhhhh
I hope you do one for Indiana Jones for Dial Of Destiny coming out in June
Ha ha I’m first to comment but I love your video Siri sing you tell much for providing us with this entertaining series a Lego Star Wars thank you so much❤
And I have force awakens on my Xbox and skywalker saga on my nintendo
I’m surprised you didn’t mention how broken the original trilogy ds game was
9:44 no that's Markiplier
What about the lego complete saga on IOS???
ähm you forgot the bonus epsiode in lego star wars 1 that happend where you can play dath vader
You should, at some point, show off how glitchy the OT DS game is.
8:43 You probably wouldn't recognise him
Im realy bothered by the fact that you always skip the psp versions
They're the same as the DS version so what's the point?
@@jlev1028 well visualy they look better and they arent completly the same. Also if he "comparing every version" that includes the psp one as well
I think the Tantive IV was the first level they made. It's so different to the rest of the game which takes place exclusively in the open world but with a few additions like hostile stormtroopers. The rest of the levels are reserved for quick boss fights... It's a bit sad because I really liked how many paths there were to finish the Tantive IV level.
I wouldn't be surprised, as I remember early press demos focusing on the Tantive IV. Given how notoriously heinous the dev cycle was for TSS, I imagine most of the actually complete levels were either holdovers or to patch together the giant void of nothing sandboxes.
The Original Trilogy on the NDS is certainly an interesting kettle of fish. The port was developed by Amaze Entertainment while The Complete Saga on NDS was developed by TT Fusion. I remember the The Original Trilogy on NDS being a very buggy mess when you progress onwards to Episode 5 and 6. It was especially on Free Play mode where I encountered the most bugs. I distinctly remember an Endor level where I was moving during an in-game cutscene and I got lead into crossroads which all looked the same.
I'm so glad you talked about the original trilogy on the DS. I remember playing it like crazy as a kid and later thinking it was a fever dream because that game was a buggy mess lol
i had fun but fever dream is the perfect wording for this :D
Agreed, completely forgot about the enemy aliens on Tatooine, some species that Lego hasn't even made to this day
I’ve been looking forward to this! Thanks for continuing this series, I have fond memories of playing this episode in the complete saga!
I'm so glad you pointed out the micro model of the Star Destroyer! I noticed that during my last playthrough of TCS, and my theory is that the full scale Star Destroyer wasn't made when they developed a New Hope, because you see it later on in the Empire Strikes Back
Either that or they included it intentionally as a little joke. The shot that makes the Star Destroyer look massive? Use the little micro model.
@@2HackFrauds Yeah, that's pretty much the sense of humour of the original games. It feels like the moment they decided to not have the characters speak they decided to insert as many visual gags as possible.
After watching these videos along with others on LEGO games, I ordered The Complete Saga for DS so I can play it on my 3DS. I'm bedridden right now so I can't wait to play this game again after over a decade.
I hope the game provides some levity! ❤
Another great video my dude. Glad to see you still going strong
Thank you, bud
I never really used the cover system in Skywalker Saga. I think it's much more fun to go in guns blazing. Also, destroying the cover barriers gets you studs.
A lot of my playthrough consisted of destroying the barriers for studs. And then rebuilding them for even more studs! They give more opportunity for combat combos than the actual enemies.
"If you remember Stormtroopers in a hot tub"
Oh I'm on THAT part of the internet again.
That's what they do when they're not working.
Nice video, but you forgot about the A New Hope bonus level in Lego Star Wars: The Video Game that you unlocked when you got True Jedi in every level where you played as Darth Vader and fought Rebel troopers onboard the Tantive IV until you reach Princess Leia hiding the Death Star plans inside R2-D2 and it says "To be continued," hinting at Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. It was also later included as a bonus level in Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Did the GBA version of Lego Star Wars: The Video Game have a bonus level like that?
The gba version didnt had a bonus levels like that
im loving this serise so much, would really like a bonus video covering certain freeplay mechanics
TCS > Skywalker Saga
honestly i agree
i could never complete ep3 on tcs but tss was kinda overwhelming
havent touched it for a while
Yes. 100%
@@kurokorichanTP2006 I’d give TCS a 98% because I’d rather explore multiple hub worlds instead of just being confined to just one, the space battles were garbage and only got better by Lego LSW3: TCW, and I much prefer being able to choose what ever character you want instead of being confined to a pre-determined party in free play. But, other than that I completely agree that TCS is still a better game than TSS.
Apples and oranges in game design. Honestly, while Skywalker Saga may fall short in the pacing in some areas, I do enjoy just exploring the hub worlds and dicking around coruscant or whatever.
Can I just say your Alec Guinness impression is on point?
Even if it was completely glitchy, I have a soft spot in my heart for Lego Star Wars II for the DS. It was a birthday present and I played it everyday, getting all the characters I could without using cheats. Just a tiny masterpiece from my memories
I remember grinding through the DS's Lightsaber Deflection minigame.
Made over 1billion studs on that game, alone.
That's awesome the Skywalker Saga has all the levels actually built with Legos. That always annoyed me in the original Lego games.
Great series! Looking forward to Empire and Jedi next.
It’s not all the levels, however any level set inside a ship like the death star, tantive, or the opening of episode 1 are all fully modelled with legos. Any outdoors area is usually a mix of both but mostly not legos
There is a hidden episode in the first Star Wars game where you can play as Leia and a Rebel soldier in the Tantive IV, will you cover it in a future episode? I always thought that level was super eerie for some reason...
No mention on the one I grew up playing, the PSP version 😭. Lol, as far as I can remember it was essentially the same as the home console version of Lego Star Wars 2.
You left out the bonus level from the original Lego Star Wars. It’s basically the first level from The Original Trilogy but from Vader’s perspective.
"He has too much of his father in him."
*Luke proceeds to slaughter Tuskans*
Also, you showing off the DS port of Lego Star Wars II makes me miss the period when handheld versions of Lego games weren't just copycats of their console counterparts. I remember actually fighting Bane in the DS version of Lego Batman and reading dialogue in the DS port of Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4.
Back when I was a dumb kid, I thought my copy of LSWII on the DS was just weird or cursed.
I had no idea the game was just that badly cooked
Thank you, Lego Star Wars II on DS, for teaching me about bugs, glitches and performance issues a video game can have 😆
it has more in common with the GBA version
I love this series of videos
Even once you have gone through the original trilogy could you do the sequels?
I know there are alot less games that have those films featured. but I still think you should make some videos on it
Even if you do all 3 films in one video to make it longer
The force awakens did at least get it's own game so that would be interesting. But yeah 8&9 should probably be together. Even LEGO gave up on those two as they barely released any sets for them.
What about the PSP version of Lego Star Wars II? Wasn't there a version for the PS2, GameCube, and Xbox 360? Seems like you've missed a few versions of the game.
That beginning part wasn't the original. Those Stormtroopers have full body swimsuits on, so it's Complete Saga. The Original has them in speedos with a nude upper body.
Don't try to play the Original Trilogy and Complete Saga off as the same game right after you said yourself you would compare all versions.
The OG trilogy is what I grew up with, movies & games & they are the best, hands down.
They were classics and ahead of their time
i remember being young and watching the prequels in 2013 in poland when they aired that on tv channels
They're very boring and every location is basically the same
@@arzfan29 you think Hoth, Endor and Tatooine are the same ? 🤔
@@aamirrazak3467 Well they did essentially change cinema forever. That's nothing to snear at.
The GBA image text kind of reminds me of Golden Sun where emotions were conveyed with a blip above the character with a various image or face.
Except Golden Sun pulled it off really well and you understand completely
As always, awesome video! I just wish you'd added the bonus A New Hope level from the original 2005 game. Maybe you'll mention it in your The Empire Strikes Back video?
Good call!
@@Flandrew your footage for the "original" is from Lego Star Wars Complete Saga, not Lego Star Wars II: the Original Trilogy. Meaning that it isn't the original... just saying...
Lego Star wars 2 was amazing. Now I always loved the no voice acted cut scenes and that Lego Yoda death sound is great and those storm troopers in the tub is the best
PS2 and GameCube was the true beginning and Wii was peak. All this voice acting really ruined the games
I’ve used this platform for 15 years and Flandrew is very quickly becoming my favourite UA-cam channel.
This is one of your funniest videos yet. That Alderaan scene in the GBA version was gold.
The miniature spaceships are a reference to the fact that the original scenes were shot using miniatures
PSP's "Originally Trilogy" is soo much better then the DS's
The complete saga for DS had wireless multiplayer that was actually pretty fun. Me and my friends would spend hours blowing each other up
The helmets falling off is a cool detail just like armour should fall off to indicate status of the enemy health whether a health bar or not. The small details seem good but yeah original for sure even if some additions of modern game design are there sure......
1:04 Sustroopers waring 🚨 ⚠️
I was really disappointed with the complete saga DS version. They just copied pasted Luke’s Jedi fighting abilities on almost every jedi😂
I'm suprised you didn't mention that in the Tantive IV level from Skywalker Saga you can find some Stormtroopers chilling in a hot tub which is a nice little nod to Lego Star Wars II.
Great video fandrew keep it up
I think Star Wars II on the DS is one of the worst games I've ever played. The Death Star escape level in IV was pretty much impossible to complete in Free Play without running into some kind of glitch - it was a pretty "open" level, so if you tried going through it in the wrong order a lot of it would just break. Sometimes the Falcon disappear so you couldn't progress, and the "bottomless" pits suddenly had solid bottoms where you'd get stuck if you fell down.
Probably the worst glitch the entire game was the fact you seemingly couldn't replay the fight with the Emperor in RotJ, which meant there was no way to collect the minikits in that level which required characters like C-3PO.
There was also a way to enter a vehicle level's ship selection screen, exit, then use those ships in the Cantina hub instead of your usual minifig characters. Easily changing back to minifigs was another matter, if not outright impossible if you chose any ship larger than a speeder bike.
"The Complete Saga is probably a bit more polished but The Original Trilogy is definitely the standout version."
My dude, did you actually play the DS version of The Original Trilogy? It is borderline unplayable given how unfinished and buggy it is.
On Nintendo DS, the Complete Saga has a LOT more polish than the Original Trilogy, which is perhaps one of the buggiest games I've ever played. And yet, there's a certain charm to the Original Trilogy. It's a mess and I can't help loving it.
"Is that a Lego shit? Don't step into it Chewie" hahahaha
You forgot the PSP version
Love this soo much! GTA next pleaseeee
Love your videos. Wish sometimes they were a bit longer like the hp ones. But still, love your stuff
The translation for the GBA versions 😂🤌🏻
It’s crazy to think that I’ve have experience with like, each of these versions.
LEGO Star Wars II The Original Trilogy for the PS2 was the first LEGO game I ever played and shortly after that I did go back and play LEGO Star Wars The Video Game and then of course The Complete Saga and well as you know the rest is history.
“The First one just has Captain Antilles”
“And so Leia and Captain Antilles set off to exchange insurances with the Empire”
Sorry but Captain Antilles isn’t a rebel trooper he has a different outfit.
(Referring to Amaze entertainment making Captain Antilles a Rebel Trooper)
lmao this part is the funniest so far
I absolutely love the humour in these videos, keep em coming
My introduction to the Lego Star Wars games as a kid was the Lego Star Wars 2 The Original Trilogy on the GBA. I got super into it and 100%'d it. Well, I actually 99%'d it. I did everything, bought everything, and collected everything in the game, but it never went to 100%. I spent a stupid amount of time replaying every level over and over trying to figure out what I was missing. I've heard that there's a glitch where no matter what you do, you can't get the last 1%, but I didn't have access to the internet back then, so I just kept trying whatever I could think of. I played the story mode levels in order from start to finish, because I thought there might be a hidden achievement for that. There wasn't. It drove me crazy.
I love the first 2/Complete Saga era Lego Star Wars games, but the GBA port of the Original Trilogy will always be rose colored for me, because I refuse to take off these glasses.
What about Lego Harry Potter saga? 🤔
current favorite series on youtube rn. i love your humor
I Rember playing the Oringel DS Version which was full of Bugs and really weird Easter eggs! XD On Hoth was some kind of Ghost with two Axes and when you realesd it the lights turn off and i think it hunts you. XD I was so scared as a kid that i turned the DS of !xD Or getting stuck in the Deathstar levels. The Game was weird and buggy mess but man i had my fun with it. :3
The DS Original trilogy game always seemed better to me as it allowed you to play as any character you want in free play. A thing that wouldn't appear in a lego game again until Lego Indiana Jones 2. It used the touch screen to give you the full character screen using a thing of the DS to make up slightly for its limitations also its custom characters are more in depth.
You forgot to include the bonus preview level from the original LEGO Star Wars that is unlocked upon getting 100% complete.
In Skywalker Saga I was hoping we'd Get to fight Darth Vader as Ben Kenobi and in episode III I was hoping we'd Get to fight Palpatine in his office but oh well
