Number 1 is BIG. I umm'd & ahh'd for 5 years trying all sorts of other jobs only to end up back in the recruitment process. I'll be going in at 32 which is the cut off the role i'm joining. But there's no disputinng that going in this late will present me with less oppotunies within the forces than had i joined 5 years ago
Hi Sam, seriously considering this as a career. 25, (26 in May) finished university at the start of Lockdown (kind of got pushed into it) but have had this in the back of my mind for some years now and feel it's something i'd regret if I didn't try. I should've trained over the 3 years I was in uni and did to some extent but with no intention. always kept psychically fit with weights etc, however have been smoking since I was 13 and have just started running and trying to quit (averaging a mile/ 3 quarters of a mile before my legs cave at present) never quit anything in my life up until now which makes me feel i'd at least give it my all. considering this and the fitness side of things, mainly running, how long do you think I should train/ how many miles should I be able to do continuously before applying? (obviously as many as possible but as a rough marker) Thanks again, and great video.
Two teams - one very fit - the other not so fit…It's a hard fast pace… Both finish - but who’s thrashed now ? Three hours later both teams go for another 5 mile run - Who performs better? During the run…The first syndicate stops and rests for 5 minutes at the halfway point waiting for the next team to catch up…The next syndicate arrives but only gets 3 minute before setting off…The fitter team has now had 8 minutes rest the less fit team has had only 3 minutes rest… Which syndicate is now in better shape to finish with spare energy and is less thrashed? The team that were weaker are exhausted and spends more time relaxing after scran..The fitter team have more mental and physical energy and head back and get their admin done as fast as possible…They get to bed earlier by an hour and 15 minutes… In the morning they are in an even better place to start the next day - better recovered and fitter than the rest… I cannot stress too much the importance of rest and correct diet in basic training - but more than anything else in the best shape you can achieve before you join - rested and carrying no injuries. Preparation is key - and this channel will help you no end.
Thanks for the video and great advice it really helps, I have recently applied to be a Royal Marines commando and am looking to get all the advice and tips I can and your videos are really helping, thanks bro and keep up the great work 👍🏻
Would you still join at 29 years old? At that age would you be able to get a job in civilian life after. Would you get enough time to visit family overseas or have a relationship outside of the service?
They take people up to 32. Yes there is plenty of time once you finnish in the milltary to get a job in civi Street. You get leave periods but they some times ask for people to work over leave and then you can take it another time. Also yes plenty of time for a relationship out side of work.
Yer I would mate. Get a full pension still by 50 happy days! You get good amount of time off but obviously away a lot as well. It's a good life as Micky stated.
Heyup! Seen as though you’ve done both, what’s the difference being in regular and reserves? Obviously I know the difference between the two but I mean from a lifestyle view. I’ve got a family and a good stable career so would you recommend reserves? Cheers and thanks for your service 👍
Hi mate, in your position I would go reserves. I have 3 kids now and I can't imagine having the lifestyle I used to have, whilst having 3 kids. I used to be away 8 months of the year.
Really helpful video, thank you for the upload! Am currently training to get on the next RFCC, and need to improve my pull-ups - any advice? What is the most effective way you have found e.g. 'greasing the groove', pyramids, etc..? Any advice much appreciated!
Ive got foreign passports (German and American ), but I want to join the Royal Marines but im not allowed with the German or American passport, should I go to America and join their military or save up and buy an Engel passport? And which one do you think is better, English or American army?
Cheers for these videos, they're helpful and encouraging!
Nice one James mate!
The face after "you'll never be the same again" 😅 5:38
Haha!! You’ll never sleep well again 😅

@The Great Game all correct other than the 8 mile run in 60 mins, that’s very hard to achieve for a beginner.

Sure mate

Was just curious, whilst preparing for basic training, was you in full time employment ?
Hi mate, yer I was working at a bookies at the time.
Good tips mate👍🏻 How old was you when joining up?
Thanks mate. I was 19
Nice, I’m 20 and wanted to join since I was about 18 Decided I’m going to fully commit to it know during lockdown with studying and training.
how long did you spend training before you signed up?
I always trained regardless of joining. But in terms of single minded approach to joining the Royal Marines, probably 6-8 months.
Really helpful video, thank you for the upload! Am currently training to get on the next RFCC, and need to improve my pull-ups - any advice? What is the most effective way you have found e.g. 'greasing the groove', pyramids, etc..? Any advice much appreciated!
