Did this to my Ram about 8 months ago after seeing your first video on this. Great addition! Running the wires along the frame rail up by the gas tank ain't no joke! That's what took me the longest. Everything else went quick and easy! Thanks for doing these videos!
Excellent video. The comment about having halogen bulbs in the cargo light tripping the circuit was gold. My 2020 1500 Classic Warlock had the halogen bulbs and everything would just momentarily flash on and then go out. I replaced the halogen bulbs with 194 LEDs that I had lying around and all was good. I have an LED cargo light that I will install for a more permanent solution. The instructions on wire routing to avoid the suspension and exhaust were most helpful. I also tapped in under the sill panel so everything works just like factory. A very worthwhile mod for those with tonneau covers. Well done!!!
Another great uprade video! Excellent step by step instructions. I appreciate how you took the guess work out of which wire to use and routing through that existing grommet. Thank you!
I’m loving these cheap mods and super happy about the 4th gen content in general! I’ve been following since the grey 4th gen and remember your other bed light install. Good stuff bro!
Wow that is super slick, I was just thinking of throwing a battery powered stick on LED in there but this set up is FIRE! Really appreciate the detailed walkthrough and pointing out multiple options for the wiring, excellent vid.
installed my bed lights following your previous video on the subject, so glad I found it. It's so nice to have the bed lights activate from your key fob.
Great mod and installation video! Just checked the Canadian cost on Amazon- it’s $58.00. Unbelievable. I’ll check the price and consider the mod I a few months- when we’re not shovelling snow every other day. My truck has 8” of snow on the tonneau cover today.
That’s an amazing upgrade!!!!! I’m hoping the realtor is taking care of business for you!!! I’d hate to see you moving into your pickup bed 🤣LOL!!! Have a great weekend and if you have a live I hope I’ll be able to catch it!!!!
As always very in-depth and helpful. I do recommend buying the right crimper for but connectors that puts a dimple in the connector. Keeps down trouble later. But great video pointing out factory spots to tap into.
I love the fact you do these inexpensive mods that ram owners can do on there own.... with a visual so the intimidation factor is minimal...now if I could just get a list of the parts/ fittings and hoses you used on the hellkota fuel system it would make my build a little easier...lol...I stored the video but it doesn't have a parts list like your other videos .......if you can it would be great but if not I will figure it out... keep the videos coming Jon 👌👍✌️
Followed instructions but the LED strips come on and then it trips the relay. Great instructions. I'm thinking its the stock third brake. Any feedback is very appreciated.
My 2021 ram classic came with lights similar to this. Just curious do you where to get those led lights for the ram sport hood? Thats what I wanna do next.
Hi Boosted Nice video, well explained. In my 5th gen harness there are 3 whites with tan tracers. Then somehow, with cargo light on, i couldn't get 12v on any of the 3. Do you have any ideas? Thanks Ernie
Awesome, I was questioning why you wouldn’t just run a constant 12V power and switch in the bed from trailer harness or tail light but the unlock cargo works well on the dimmer timer.
great video as always. I too remember your last similar install that you did. I was thinking about doing this under my trailer, for backing into places in the dark. Guess I need to add them to my truck now too, hope I have the connectors that you pointed out, since mine is a 17. Keep up the great work.
I have the same manufactures 3 piece bed light I'm going to hopefully be installing on Monday. I was going to run it right to the battery and use the switch that came with it but now I'm debating on doing it your way 🤔
Great channel. Appreciate the videos. I have a 2017 Ram 2500 with the factory wiring already run to the back for the bed LED's, question is, do I have to program using the alfaOBD or should the wires be hot already?
can you do the OPT7 underglow kit lol i wanna see that they look to be some of the best and must durable, ive seen badly recorded videos where its hard to get the lighting recorded properly and no ones really got a good representation of the install and performance. i wanna install them on my 2914 4thgen 1500 (Y)
I haven’t looked into the ram box wiring much but if I recall if there is lighting inside the ram box it only turns on when you open the rambox lid? Probably would still have to run the wires like we did if you want it to function with the remote and 3rd brake
Hello what I’m I doing wrong I have 2014 ram trying to install The rear LED tailgate light kit when I connect the what connector in the front to the white and tan wire I’m trying to test the lights I get one flicker from the LED strips and that’s it. My 3rd break light will not turn on with butt Connector connected to the white and tan line any suggestions thanks
Thanks Anthony! This is the one I have. I bought it off a guy that took it off his 2019 ram 1500 5th Gen but it also fits the 4th gen box perfectly! My truck is 2016 amzn.to/3GXFVmB
With my removable tonneau cover I don’t always have it on when hauling tall items. I’d rather have it this way so that I don’t have to open my tailgate just to turn on the light with an open bed 👍
I’m wondering if anyone has the same issue as me, I connected it just like I saw on the video, but when I have both light strips plugged in they flicker but if only one is plugged in the LED light strip works just fine. I don’t have a 3rd brake light LED so I’m wondering if that’s too much voltage on the power wire ? I’m already looking into buying an LED 3rd brake light.

Crazy. I was just thinking about this 3 days ago, when I installed my new bed cover and BOOM, you post up a video. Thank you!
Haha that’s awesome! I think this is a huge bonus to having a bed cover 💪

Thanks Gary! I try to make it simple and as factory as possible! 💪
I’m loving these cheap mods and super happy about the 4th gen content in general! I’ve been following since the grey 4th gen and remember your other bed light install. Good stuff bro!
Thanks man I appreciate it! Was fun to get back to the basics for a bit! 💪

installed my bed lights following your previous video on the subject, so glad I found it. It's so nice to have the bed lights activate from your key fob.
Did the same to mine after his previous one on this. About 8 months later, and still working great!
Heck yeah that’s awesome guys glad to hear! 💪🤘
Crazy I wasn’t just thinking about this days ago and boom there you are! Replaying old shit
Just ordered a black hoodie! "Life's to short to keep it stock". Oh yea, I've been wanting one of these for a while now!!!
I have a 2016 with factory bed light. I will look at the wiring when I get home. Thank you for the great video.
It would be super easy for you then! Just tap into the two wires on each side for your existing lights and stick on the led strips 💪
Do you think the fuse is still needed or just splice into existing wires and done? I have a 2017 with the factory bed lights in.
Great mod and installation video! Just checked the Canadian cost on Amazon- it’s $58.00. Unbelievable. I’ll check the price and consider the mod I a few months- when we’re not shovelling snow every other day. My truck has 8” of snow on the tonneau cover today.
Damn that’s a big price difference from down here! Still worth it though honestly!
I just finished the install. Worked like a charm on my 2015 2500. Thanks man. I appreciate the video
Those strip lights are really nice. If I didn't have the factory lights I would definitely put these in.
You could always add these in addition to the factory lights and tap into those wires. Would make it way brighter and install would be way easier 💪
That’s an amazing upgrade!!!!! I’m hoping the realtor is taking care of business for you!!! I’d hate to see you moving into your pickup bed 🤣LOL!!! Have a great weekend and if you have a live I hope I’ll be able to catch it!!!!
Thanks Henry! It’s been a way more stressful process than usual but we’ll see how it works out this week!
As always very in-depth and helpful. I do recommend buying the right crimper for but connectors that puts a dimple in the connector. Keeps down trouble later. But great video pointing out factory spots to tap into.
Thanks Greg! Yeah I have an actual crimper but this was just getting the job done in the driveway with my sisters boyfriends tools 💪

Love the channel man! Your content gives loads of affordable mods you can do to forth gen rams!
Nice. I got to do this..THUMBS up
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Awesome and straight forward. Stuff you can literally do in your garage on a weekend.
I agree! I did this with basic tools i borrowed from my sisters boyfriend 💪
I'm loving your latest few videos. Keep up the great work!
Thanks man I appreciate it! 💪

Love the idea of using the third brake wire..👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
Thanks! I like that it operates like factory!

Then somehow, with cargo light on, i couldn't get 12v on any of the 3.

It's a sweet mod, esp when you're pulled over so the officer can see better I swear it's saved my butt at the lake lol
Awesome, I was questioning why you wouldn’t just run a constant 12V power and switch in the bed from trailer harness or tail light but the unlock cargo works well on the dimmer timer.
Yeah I like things to operate like factory 💪

Outstanding, going to do this to our 2014 Ram sport.
I have the same manufactures 3 piece bed light I'm going to hopefully be installing on Monday. I was going to run it right to the battery and use the switch that came with it but now I'm debating on doing it your way 🤔
Either will work but I like having it come on and turn off like factory 😁
I have a quick question I want to add a switch in the bed for my factory lights is that possible
Great channel. Appreciate the videos. I have a 2017 Ram 2500 with the factory wiring already run to the back for the bed LED's, question is, do I have to program using the alfaOBD or should the wires be hot already?
Can I use this same process but place the lights down under for welcome lights for the running boards??
I just ordered these, John! I can't wait to install them. You're awesome, thank you for the continued content 😊.
I do not see where you posted the link fo rthe A-Pillar Tap Source, could you post for me?
Awesome brother 👍👍
Thanks man!
Do you think double sided sticky tape would stick to a bedliner??
Definitely doing this mod.
Can’t beat it for the price!! 💪
Epic I was hoping for this vid!!!!!
It makes it so much nicer having a tonneau cover! 💪
Should shed a bit of light on the subject! Thanks man, great short videos!
Haha thanks Mark! This one was a bit more work but I think it’s worth it!
@@BoostedMotorsports yes it is!

Thanks man!
Was there another video for the Alpha ODB to turn on this option you mentioned at the beginning?
I haven’t made one for that specific option but I have a bunch of alfaobd videos on here. I can make a video specific to this if needed
Would i do it the same way on a 1998 Dodge Dakota?
Yes sir would work the same you just need to find the correct wire 💪
So I have a rough country 6in lift on my ram and I want to go back to stock suspension but don’t know what oem parts I need
Do you have the link for the 2009-2012 A piller connection?
First of all great video as always. I have a 2014 1500 with the ram box. Is there an easy way I can get power from there?? Thanks.
I haven’t looked into the ram box wiring much but if I recall if there is lighting inside the ram box it only turns on when you open the rambox lid? Probably would still have to run the wires like we did if you want it to function with the remote and 3rd brake
@@BoostedMotorsports Thanks, after I thought about it, having the same power source to control bed lights make better sense
How many miles you got on that ED? I am at 170k on my 2015. Had a emissions failure at 98k been great ever sense.
Hello what I’m I doing wrong I have 2014 ram trying to install The rear LED tailgate light kit when I connect the what connector in the front to the white and tan wire I’m trying to test the lights I get one flicker from the LED strips and that’s it. Sorry correction it’s not my third brake light that will not turn on it’s the bed light that won’t turn on
I have an issue with mine. Where the lights turn off right away when I open the door or turn the lights on from the dash. Help me please.
Love the content but where did you get the cover from?
Thanks Anthony! This is the one I have. I bought it off a guy that took it off his 2019 ram 1500 5th Gen but it also fits the 4th gen box perfectly! My truck is 2016
amzn.to/3GXFVmB
link to the 2012 pillar instructions for this?
that switch comes with the LED strip can be converted to magnetic switch which will only turn on when you open the tailgate.
Wow, that would be so cool! I'm still liking the third brake light option, so that it's only on when you want it.
With my removable tonneau cover I don’t always have it on when hauling tall items. I’d rather have it this way so that I don’t have to open my tailgate just to turn on the light with an open bed 👍
Good video! But can’t you just tap the wirings into the Tailights instead?
can you post the link for the 09-12 on the A pillar
Anybody get a link for thr 09-12 yet?
Love it
Thanks brother 💪
Do it to the viper truck! I would love to watch it and do it on mine afterwards
That would be cool on that truck too!
Thanks
Gotta have it!!!
Thanks brother! 🤘
Has anyone done this with factory cargo/third brake light?
I’m not an electrician so how would ik which wire is the one i need ??
Here’s the wire you can use amzn.to/3qe2AoU
I’m wondering if anyone has the same issue as me, I connected it just like I saw on the video, but when I have both light strips plugged in they flicker but if only one is plugged in the LED light strip works just fine. I don’t have a 3rd brake light LED so I’m wondering if that’s too much voltage on the power wire ? I’m already looking into buying an LED 3rd brake light.
Where is the link for the
Tonneau cover?
This is the one I have. I bought it off a guy that took it off his 2019 ram 1500 5th Gen but it also fits the 4th gen box perfectly! My truck is 2016

Nice
I wonder if anyone has had issues doing this with the 5th gen rams. I wanna try this but I also want to add the factory bed light as well.
I have a 2022 ram without factory bed lights. Did you have any luck installing yours?
My 18 Rebel has the factory bed lights.
Nice! I would love to add these to the factory lights if I had them. Would be way easier to tap into the wires on each side and even brighter!
Run it straight to the battery it won't throw a code or fault because you're bypassing any modules.
I have a 2017 an have the lights in the box
a couple HOT Days.. and those lights will be sitting in the bottom of the bed .. pressure sensitive adhesives don't work in hot truck beds.
My 2018 come with bed lights from the factory 🏭
Nice! Install would be super easy to tap into those if you ever wanted to make it 10x as bright! 💪
This is familiar as well.
Yeah this mod was awesome on my old truck it’s way better now with a tonneau!
There I go again spending money lol
🤣😂
