Italy used to be known for their world class strikers, and Roberto Baggio sits comfortably somewhere at the top of that list.
His story is a very inspirational one, and we’ll be looking at it today. Was he really that good? Or is he just another overrated old school player? Stick around till the end of the video to find out.
Roberto Baggio was a technically gifted, and creative playmaker. He was also a set-piece specialist.
He is widely recognized as one of the greatest players of all time, famed for his curling free-kicks, dribbling ability, and goalscoring.
He was named to the FIFA World Cup Dream Team in 2002 after finishing fourth in the FIFA Player of the Century internet poll in 1999. He won the Ballon d'Or and was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 1993. Pelé named him to the FIFA 100, a ranking of the world's finest living players, in 2004.
Roberto Baggio is regarded as one of the greatest players in Italian football history. Baggio was always known to come back stronger, no matter what life threw at him. He had a catastrophic injury at the age of 18 that threatened to end his career before it even began. Baggio, however, beat all odds, persevered in the face of adversity, and went on to become one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Baggio is way better than him. Messi arcived nothing with Argentina for over 10 years. In 2022 he scored his first world cup goal at knockout stage. 2022 Qatar was very much fixed. You only see the bribe m9ney when Qatar gets to host it not when the trophy is handed to Argentina or when Messi wear QatarAir shirt with Barca and PSG.
Baggio carried an entire nation on his back to the world cup against the best Brazilian team in history. Messi and Ronaldo haven't done that.

This guy is the best player I have ever seen, including anyone: George Best, Messi, Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo 9 or 7... you can compare him to anyone, he's the best I have ever seen.
Think about the talent of those players I just mentioned - Baggio did everything they could do *but he made it look absolutely effortless.*
If you were to use the term "Born to play football" about only one player, it would have to be Baggio.
The only reason he's not recognized as such, is because other players like the ones I mentioned did score way more goals, but that was because Baggio was injured a lot and left out by certain managers a lot. Baggio had injuries that ruined what his stats would have been.
It's not like Baggio didn't score enough or play enough for people to see that he was the best there's ever been. Italians claim he's the best Italian player ever but they are being too modest, he's THE best player there's ever been.
Dribbling the ball around players the way he used to do it, I have never seen it done in that way, from any other player - not at the level he used to do it. This guy pretty much dribbled the ball around players every time he had the ball, it was simply mental and he was beyond "elite".

You absolutely nailed it. I've been saying the same thing forever.
I would add that Serie A was extremely strong when he played, arguably the strongest league there has ever been. There were so many great defenders and defenses during that period, where we saw players such as Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta, Tassotti, Cannavaro, Vierchowod, Ferri, Bergomi, Aldair, Thuram, Stam, Sammer, Brehme, Desailly and many more playing at their peak. Teams were very compact, with many sitting back. Many great forwards (Bergkamp, Henry) struggled against such strong defenses and chose to leave.
His skills were truly sublime, as was his footballing IQ. He was a great dribbler, passer, finisher, set-piece taker. So aware, so calm; his first touch and array of feints were out of this World - I don't think I've ever seen a player make so many opponents/keepers look clumsy, grounding them. His goalscoring record for clubs and country was very impressive, especially as he would often drop deep to create. As Guardiola has often said, an injury free Baggio playing today would be devastating given how protected forwards are today, how luxurious pitches are, how open the game is, how effective diets, training and surgery is...

The majestic touches of this player were unbelievable .... the complete player who can dribble like Maradona and messi , who can make goals from free kicks like Beckham, who can create chances to his team players like no one else.
Indeed, he was one of the best ever, and I consider him on the same level as Messi.
