  • Hooked the Boyer up directly to the battery and kicked. And it sparked.

... try to install the Boyer to a BSA Thunderbolt, didn't know I had to be a bike mechanic ... not even the drawings are correct :-(

Alan Kennedy Not sure what you expected. It takes some knowledge and skill to replace the timing hardware. By drawing do you mean the wiring diagram? If so after 50 years there’s very little chance your bike is correct.

@@swooshdave ... thanks for your reply - all the wires are correct and in the proper color code ... what a relief! Boyer has this little black magic box, where everything seems to disappear in, deeply regret I went for Boyer - the easiest questions are not answered by Boyers technicians ... 3 possibilities to connect the white cable to the ignition switch and all they say is the W/Y which goes from Handlebar-switch to Coil ... two weeks wasted :-( ... if I ever go for electronic Ignition, it will be there system from Pazon ... guess they lost the skills of Mr. Bransden

@@alankennedy9218 You do know that every electronic ignition has a black box the wires disappear into. Not sure how it could have taken you two weeks. There's only so many wires. My problem stemmed from an intermitted ground wire, not the fault of Boyer. Did you watch this before working on your bike? ua-cam.com/video/CVY4EYRwIno/v-deo.html

@@swooshdave ... don't worry, I'm a mechanical engineer ;-) restored MG's, Daimler's and various Triumph/Norton/BSA ... - I was concerned, that I take the 'power' from a wrong supply, which might cause a short circuit in the electronic box, as there is no fuse to protect the electronics ... but thinking of it, it either works or not - it is the way they send replies to simple questions, just not to the point - I'll get it sorted tomorrow evening with the help of my son - next electronic ignition will be from an other supplier, who can help with proper answers! enjoy your Norton, beautiful bike ... and if you don't have an electronic ignition you can sort 99% of the problems with a Victorinox knife :-)

@@alankennedy9218 Why didn't you ask the people you bought it from? Boyers are only sold through dealers. The dealer should have provided you some guidance. Given that thousands of these things have been installed I would have reached out to other Boyer owners.
