- Have you seen ads on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook for the game Tokyo Debunker? We first saw the ads on our feeds back in late 2019, with the “coming April 2020” tagline. Being otome lovers and game developers ourselves, we were pretty excited to see what this new game had to offer... that is until we realized it's been pushed back THREE times and the company behind the product seems a little untrustworthy. Wait, this is three years old?! I just got an ad for it! It's giving me really strong Evertale vibes. I bet that when this game actually drops, the horror elements shown in the ads aren't going to be nearly as prominent, and it'll just be another mobile otome game.

Just dropping in to say: it's released, yes there's plenty of horror, it's actually a unique visual novel and worth a shot!
@@QuietQuin - Unfortunately, the game uses AI, the gacha rates are atrocious, and (from what I've heard) the prologue eventually reaches a sudden spike in difficulty which may require the user to farm gacha in order to proceed. I stopped playing before I even reached the gacha, but I'd be open to returning if they stopped using AI art. The story seemed interesting.
this is so disappointing. i remember following the game for a bit when i saw that the characters were being voiced by some popular voice actors and then i forgot about it because i never heard anything. recently i saw the ads pop up again so i was thinking it finally got released but looks like we’re never gonna get it 😔

I’ve been following this game since the beginning, and honestly my hopes have slowly declined. The company used to be so active make in the beginning with updates but it slowly went down hill into summer 2019. I had a feeling something was going on in the company, but I never did the research. Nice video!
I've never actually gotten and ad or seen anyone talking about Tokyo Debunker so I learned everything about the game and situation through this video. It is pretty mysterious. My guess is that there are problems behind the scenes which is delaying the game, whether it be financial reasons or workplace issues.
It has been resolved now but I'd suggest you look back at the recent drama regarding the USA branch of Voltage and the VOW strike with the freelance writers. It was a pretty worrying time for those who play the Lovestruck app and in the fandom like me and aware of the previous conflicts in the USA branch.
The fact that I JUST got an ad for this game today. I’ve been following it for so long, and came across this ad while trying to see if I could find more information. At this point, I’ll just stick with Voltage, they’re the reason I’m into otome. It doesn’t seem like we’ll ever get the game. 😭 I’m glad I found you guys though, your game looked really nice, and I can’t wait to check it out! Just subscribed. ♥️

I just got a twitter ad for this game and it was a blast from the past--from like 3 years ago. I remember back then you could preregister for it and it would be out in 2019, and we're approaching 2023 and no news for years. Thanks for all the research in this video!! I was scrollin thru insta and I saw this Tokyo Debunker ad to sign up for merch or something like that. I tried to search for the game in the Play store but I couldn't find it, so I searched it up and found this channel/video. Honestly from the looks of it, it seems like a really amazing game but it sucks that it got delayed and stuff🥶🤦🏾♀️ Ngl I'm really glad that those ads exist/showed up on my home page, I wouldn't have found you guys☺️

I've been getting ads on UA-cam for this and immediately thought it was Evertale electric boogaloo
How interesting! I thought this game was new...I’ve been seeing a lot of these kind of ads for games like that one on social. Makes me wonder about those games too. I honestly think the game is having an issue either licensing or maybe something more Thats causing it to be delayed. It would be silly to spend soo much money only to not release the game but who knows 🤷🏽♀️

this is so funny i totally forgot about this game and the other day i got an ad on ig about it so my first thought was oh they made it finally, yeah no... the pre-registration currently still says "2020" and their socmeds look super sad, very disappointing
I can’t believe I’m still getting ads for this!! I was curious after reading the Twitter comments, and this video was a really comprehensive investigation into what’s going on.
I can’t see them releasing the game now (I wouldn’t be surprised if the owner of their Twitter account lost the password lol). Then again, I think if they do release the game eventually, lots of people will play it due to curiosity after the radio silence debacle. But I don’t see it lasting in the long term given this company’s track record.

i have a gut feeling they only paid for those big hit voice actors FOR THE ADS… i don’t think they honestly have a game made at all given it’s been what.. 4 years of silence and nothing but ads and empty messages/apologies on twitter ??? not sitting right…
Yeah it’s weird because they must be wasting so much money - they have been running ads for years! They will never get a return on the ad expense unless they release something but it definitely doesn’t seem like they will release anything

Now that the game is a lot of us people that play the game and chat in the chat room it's very similar to Twisted wonderland it's so far off from what they advertised. But for me I'm not upset with the game it's pretty fun but at the same time just not what you were expecting
Ive literally gotten ads on ads since they even announced this game, im always going back (especially as of late) to comment and beg the devs for a response and a lot of other people do obviously, its really frustrating seeing a game you wanted to play so bad never be released

The fake marketing campaign for Tokyo Debunker - the game (and the merch) that does not exist (or has anyone ever seen the merch for real and even if I would see photos I would not believe them because they always have fake photos/ads) - already ran. They never actually planned to develop this game with famous voice actors in the first place. However, they knew people would be totally excited for this game due to the famous voice actors. Just commission a few art assets and voice-overs and then run the campaign. After that, you use the pandemic (which was already happening at the time) and emerging competition as an excuse and say that you are making "improvements" to the game while you are actually just starting to develop the actual game with that title. I would not be surprised if that is what they did.

I don’t know if anyone else got the ad for this game on Instagram but it looks like a pixel game horror the ad has creepy music with butcher meat hanging in a dark room and on the floor, thought it was a horror game but it’s actually an otome game???
We got those ads too! It’s as though whoever is in charge of marketing really is separated from the game creators. Ads keep running but the creators haven’t commented since June of 2020

I ngl thought because it was gonna be this huge game so I'm glad I saw this
I also saw their other games it apparently a series (I think it's a series cause I saw different versions) called sengoku something something I forgot I could only find 1 still playable
And it's a gacha game so it made me think they spent more for the other game and were like fuck we forgot about Tokyo debunkers which led to the employee situation

It's September 2022, and there doesn't seem to be an update on Tokyo Debunker... I got bombarded with their ads at the end of 2019, too. Like you said in the video, a lot of games took longer to develop because of the pandemic, but it's nearing the end of Q3 in 2022... I wonder if it actually will come out. :T
