1792 regular small batch is my absolute favorite bourbon. It can be had in Wisconsin all day long for around $22-24. It’s not the most special thing ever but I really enjoy it. Even got a limited run made for Timer’s in Racine that was a 1.75 same style bottle which was very fun to share with friends because of how obnoxious it looked. Love your ridiculous reviews guys!
I'll be there outlier here and say I enjoy the Full Proof. Definitely sipping whiskey and strong, but the subtleties come out after the first few sips. And you can run your lawn mower on it which is handy :).
1792 small batch is one of the first bourbons I bought, definitely high on my list, haven't tried the full proof yet. Honestly it's because I'm becoming more of a scotch guy myself. I'm in love with glenmorangie 10 right now.
My first thought was, “Maybe it needs water and aeration?” and then Rex added water but never commented on whether or not it helped make the whiskey any more cohesive. Did it help?
It seems like you guys really like lower proof whiskeys because I do disagree with most of your higher proof reviews (including this one). Although I do appreciate your experienced and informed opinions. This particular bourbon just won bourbon of the year and it is about $45.
Guess you gotta eat lunch somewhere without a "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Shenanigans" rule... I'm sure there are plenty of places that fit the bill around Austin!
@@CMHasty028 L'Altier Selection Special and Glen Grant 16 is my favorite pairing. Also, I would try the Punch Elites to try to pair with the Green Spot.
What do you guys think about dedicating an episode to whiskey from non-traditional whiskey countries (i.e. everything outside of Scotland, Ireland, the US, Canada and Japan)?
Finals are over so finally able to binge watch all of the episodes I missed. I normally do this with a nice whiskey, but unfortunately I poured my last glass a few days ago. I suppose my roommate's modelo will suffice!
The funny thing is that this 1792 Full Proof was Best Kentucky Bourbon at World Whisky Awards 2018. No matter they do make interesting juice. Wonder if their reasonable pricing will rise since the warehouse collapse earlier this year?
John Del Greco the full proof is getting harder and harder to find . I picked up 6 bottles for safe keeping just in case . I really like it for sipping .
The beauty with bourbon and cigars is they naturally pair well. The bourbon rarely ever takes the back seat to a cigar. So if you're a bourbon before cigar guy/gal, you're in luck. I would say it's actually harder to find a bad pairing than it is to find a great pairing (assuming you drink decent bourbon and smoke decent cigars). Think of it as cigars and coffee. Pretty hard to find a bad pairing. Worse case scenario and you do find a bad pairing... take a sip, ride out the finish then puff the cigar, ride that taste out, rinse and repeat.
Just tired this. Totally can see how this has been voted as best whiskey/bourbon. Very full and oily while not being nearly as hot as you'd think for the proof.
I love the bottled, and Bonded 100 proof old Bardstown! A Willet product! For $22 , and it is very smooth, and very nice taste! And I drink alot of higher end, but this I found to be very good for the price!
Hey I notice you guys have the regular green label tully's dew back there. I don't get much out of it besides ethanol. very little apple and like fresh fields, but it's so overwhelmed but the alcohol that I can't enjoy it. Is that just me or is that how it should taste? For the price I hope It's just the bottle I got because it's really not bad past the alcohol
Old vid, I know. But I'm drinking this right now and out the bottle it punches and is just ok. BUT (and I know you may hate this) if you add a touch of water, maybe a tablespoon, it drinks perfect.
I just had it last night and I agree that the Full Proof is an ass kicker. However, after adding water it opens up remarkably. The vanilla Rex pulls on the nose becomes custardy along with the caramel and cherry. But the finish ends with a phenolic flavor reminding me of a bananas foster. I recommend adding water till you hit that sweet spot and maybe it will reveal itself boYs.
If Rex was asking whether there was a Jefferson's Cask Strength, which I think I missed something, there is Ocean Cask Strength. I say we see a review of that soon.
Total Wine store picks are BS. They literally just say "send us a barrel" with no representation to choose a quality product. I've got one at home from a store, I'll revisit it and if I still disagree with you, will send a bottle your way to try side by side. Cheers!
You should have a table with X amount of whiskeys and then Daniel pours the one of the episode and Rex has to guess from those. Making it easier for Rex.
True. Rex only gets as close as grain type. It's a malt! It's a bourbon! He just doesn't have the requisite experience to get any closer really. I'm sure he still does way better than I would though. I'd be like, "Hmm... On the nose I'm getting... Whiskey... Right?" I enjoy it, but they pretty much have to be in a flight for me to get any differences. :P Even then I feel like the freaking Mad Hatter. "This one is much muchier. It has more muchness!"
Quite random but I see the original Tullamore Dew on the shelf in the back and I’ve noticed y’all have never done a review on the original. That’s a very basing one I’d like to see at some point if at all possible
lmfao!!! I saw that ending coming a mile away and still almost had the possibly life altering experience of blowing Bullet Bourbon out of my nose.. #Self restraint saves lives...
Shadowleon70 i have to agree with the fellas on this one. 1792 sb is superior in every way except proof. I often see the full proof for anywhere up to $20 more than the SB.
Been seeing that mellow corn in the background for the last week. I will hold firm that if you're mixing, and your cocktail isn't spirit forward (old fashioned, manhattan, etc.), it's stupid to use a $40 bottle if you're at home. Save the Small Batch Barrel Proof 12 year bourb for sipping and slosh some of that ten dollar golden corn swill in your shaker tin.
I've even seen mellow corn get good reviews. Maybe just like how monkey shoulder is marketed for mixing but is praised as a starter whisky, I don't like monkey shoulder though. But yeah, mixing expensive liquor is a waste of money.
The bad Jurassic Park music! I forget what that instrument is... How about flutaphones!? Or something like a Shreds video. :P Edit: It's a melodica! Do that!
Hey both of you..I had a stupid idea last night....what would happen to a whiskey if you distilled it again AFTER it spend time in a barrel. Would you lose flavour or intensify some of it or is it just a stupid idea. Cheers

yep got a bottle at Woodman's around 30 Bucks (Milwaukee area)
You are more fortunate than you will ever realise. This is also my favourite bourbon but it cast $90- $100 here in Oz

1792 Full Proof is one of my favorites. 125proof of good bourbon for under $45 in my area....hard to beat.
This channel really helped me enjoy different whiskeys..

I really liked it too. Every time I went back to it I got a different note, and I loved that. I really thought it was a great whiskey.
Rex and Daniel don’t usually do bourbons anyway (they clearly don’t know what’s good). I think It’s Bourbon Night rated it highly.
Just cracked my 1792 Full Proof- like a damn camp fire in my mouth and I loved every minute of it. 49.99
Chris Illinois I don’t get when people say bourbon is Smokey

V-neck or does Rex have the shirt on backward....
Nicholas Page totally in backwards! Haha
Nicholas Page maybe he tucked the tail in his azzcrack?
V... When have you ever seen a v cut on the back of a men's regular t shirt?
how is top comment not about bourbon?
Have a store pick of full proof and I think it’s great for $44. Anyone compared store pick to regular full proof?
Just picked up my bottle today & yes it is very alcohol forward, BUT it also has that very smoky campfire taste & I LOVE THAT!!! SOOO GOOD!!
I got a store pick from Corkdork’s in Nashville. I wish I had bought two. It is sold out. It is one of my current favorites.
Dang. I really like that whiskey. I was trying to give you all a nice one. Perfect full Wettle ceremony.
1792 the hulk Hogan of wiskeys. Great video chad
Over a years later, here we are. The recommendations were on point this time, recommending a review of a bottle featured in today's video.
Gotta love the Whiskey Tribe. We smoke whiskeys and drink cigars.
I am with you on the full proof! Love the Single barrel, and the small batch!
My first thought was, “Maybe it needs water and aeration?” and then Rex added water but never commented on whether or not it helped make the whiskey any more cohesive. Did it help?
wut no ice
My experience was, not really. Tamped down the excitement and made it more sweet, but didn’t make it cohesive.
It definitely improves after the bottle breathes for a bit

I personally really enjoyed 1792 full proof and it is definetly my current favorite. Taste is subjective so to each their own.

I just got home from the store. 1792 full proof is delish. Surprisingly an easy sipper for 62.5% store pick in Rochester, NY 47 bucks. Not bad
I need to step my bourbon game up, ive been diving into a lot of scotch since watching the channel but bourbon was my first love.
Same here. I have been spending my whiskey funds on Scotch lately. I need to get back to my babe of Bourbon.

My favorite cigar with lagavulin 16 is a Don Pepin Garcia original blue, Fantastic cigar and the flavors stand up well with the lagavulin.
I like both, to only have to pay $19 more for the full proof over small batch is a great value. Most distillers up the price around double.
