I think I must have the funniest 'weird place' to find drills story. I'm disabled and have carers to help me wash and dress. One day my carer informed me I'd developed a pimple on my bottom...yeah, you've guessed, it was a drill stuck to my derriere! When I told her the next day her response was "but I even washed it!" which totally cracked me up.
Also, I'm in the single placer camp simply because I diamond paint as a method for controlling my pain. All multi placing would do for me is speed up when I'd have to fork out for a new painting to do. It's all about the process for me, the finished article is redundant.

@@kaiiskz I agree. I tend to single plane but I have learned to multiplace started with 4 and stopped at 6. Comes in handy for a lot of redundant areas. But when my physical and mental issues kick in I notice I revert back to only single placing because it forces me to focus more. If that makes any sense? I'm basically homebound and in Florida so I'm usually barefoot and I find I've tracked drills into every room. Almost as crazy as the glitter I find years after my grandchildren outgrew it 😂

I have a ton of little bottles from the Meds I take, and they make great storage jars and come in various sizes too. I purchase hangers for pants with rubber tips on the grabbers and hang bunches on my walls, if I get tired of looking at one, I can change them around.

The thing about licensed vs not that I never hear anyone talk about is canvas size. I prefer to work smaller 30x40cm canvases, and the big name brands dont make a lot of those. I understand why most people want bigger, more detailed finished pictures, so of course they would cater to the larger group, but the vast majority of amazon kits are my preferred size.

You call them experts. I call them elite snobs and to tell you the truth, I’ve unsubbed from a lot of them. It’s easy for them to say go buy only licensed paintings when they’re getting their kits for free. Of course I try to only buy licensed but I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: all those experts started out with budget, Amazon, overseas kits, too and probably still have a few in their closet. The lady who introduced me to diamond painting has been doing it since 2017. She sells her framed paintings and does every single one of them with the basic kit -green boat, pen and wax. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to plug in my light pad and brush the stray drills off my dog’s nose! 😂😂

    Hi Daphne,
Thank you what makes a person a Diamond painter. This video fits all Diamond painters. I started out buying from TEMU. Not because they were Diamond paintings, but because I thought they were funnels. My crazy Christian friend was looking at the large funnel in one of the kitchen cabinets, and Wola my funnel was gone. Hee other nickname is sticky fingers.
One night a friend came over and noticed all the wrapped Diamond paintings. She said she didn't know I Diamond painted . I said I don't. My friend opened one, and exclaimed this is a Diamond painting kit. But you can use the funnel in the kitchen if you want to.
Yes, I have listen to creator and purchased what they unboxed . I do have my favorite artists. I love Gothic art, shows, books.
Like you I really don't do matchy matchy with my canvases. I use tiny glue dots in single placers, and putty in my multiplacer. Living in Southern California I use Museum putty for other breakable.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Daphne, I'm gonna share this video with my new friends that want to start DPing. My first DP was a discount kit and knowing nothing about DP'ing, I ordered a 50x100cm canvas of Poppies, then proceeded to single place the entire thing. Took me 3 months. I use 1 pen, Glue Dots, museum putty, and the original free trays, albeit with duct tape on the bottom to block the light. All my cover minders were freebies with kits. Temu has all your cheap DP accessories: pens, etc. While working on projects, I use Temu Ziplock baggies kept on metal rings. Silver backed bags for Round Diamonds, Gold backed bags for Square. About $4/100 plus 2 binder rings. I reuse them with each new kit, (just finished my 72nd kit so these baggies last a long time). The 2 and 3" metal rings don't last long, so get lots!. The free kit trays work perfectly with these baggies. I bought 2 BSW Monster Storage Boxes w/lids ($15/ea) with dividers and cheap index cards from the dollar store for my spare drills. All large finishes are stored rolled up in a long plastic bin (Temu) in sleeves under my bed. Hope this helps someone on a budget. Thx for this great video! ♥

Some people are just too much for me, sorry not sorry. I ended up with about 5 I really enjoy, a couple are more into the higher priced co. and a couple budget co. After all this is supposed to UNstress you, right? One lady actually spent over 2 hours talking and showing her "stash" yet not one was actually "done". Needless to say I fell asleep 😂

AAh. Josephine Wall. One of my fave artists. I enjoy her art a lot and have quite a bit of it on jigsaw puzzles. Those are quite tricky too, because of the textures she uses. Something that would not be the same kind of tricky in a diamond painting. It's just quite a few colours of drills. I think I prefer them as jigsaws, it's quite a good brain trainer for recognizing small colour differences and textures.
They'd probably work great for round drills now that I think about it. Her way of painting fits that vibe for me with all its whimsy. Anne Stokes, on the other hand feels very much like a square drill kinda art for me. I still want one of her statuettes next to the mugs and bookmark I have with her art (also some jigsaw puzzles).
Hmm. Interesting, I just realised this is another showcase of how I enjoy saturated darker shades or lighter, more pastel shades in fantasy illustrations. Josephine does kinda do both with more vibrant colours, Anne Stokes uses mostly darker shades, but a lot of her dragons are pastel or light colours. How interesting.

As many drills as I have found in some very strange places I must indeed be a “real” Diamond Painter. Example, I heated up some garlic bread for hubby to eat with his spaghetti and there in the middle of a slice was a gold crystal drill. 😮

I wonder if you could help me regarding pre cut stickers
Is there anything I could put on my containers before I put on the precut stickers? I find it hard sometimes to get the stickers off the containers when I'm dekitting the drills
I hope you can give me a suggestion of what I could put under the stickers so they could come off easier. Thank you in advance

I put washi tape on my containers and then place the precut stickers on top of that. The only issue I've had doing that is that sometimes the stickers don't stick to the washi enough, and I have to press them back down every so often. Thanks for watching!!

ive been diamond painting for 5 years now since late 2019, i love this vid and to be honest this is a great insight for a new beginner, i never had these vids and the way i found diamond painting was through a friend and seeing a kit in cheap shop in Australia, in the last couple of years ive been into buying pens but through temu/ aliexpress acrylic pens because they work well, i have never bought a custom pen, tray because they are expensive and to be honest the fomo is ridiculous, i only bought my first DAC one year ago and i love them even if they are expensive but i still do normal canvases and expensive because i love the combo of different qualities the good, bad and the ugly i paint by image and the process. long insight but thank you for this vid i 100 percent agree with you 💯💖

🤔🤨 How'd I get into diamond painting? 🤣 A friend from work asked one day, "you do crafts?"
    "Yes."
    " Do you diamond paint?"
    "No, I do not."
" I've inherited my mother in law's collection. Would you like it?"
    "Not really."
"I'll bring it to work tomorrow and give it to you."
And thus, I now have a diamond painting collection.🥴

There's plenty of kits that are not licensed. So people can buy those, I do not like most artists kits they just do not look right to me. Love both rounds and square drills.

I put drills on a canvas. I single place every single canvas, it’s not about time for me. I have found them in the shower, in the toilet, and the best one was my husbands forehead😂🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️I love watching and listening to the “experts”, but always do my own thing. I started in February of this year and LOVE it. Thanks for your opinions.
