It’s the two cd pink cover includes live at the Electric Ballroom 7.6.2007...didn’t see this in your collection. Did you ever buy the Highlights single cd of Liverpool Oratorio?
Some good memories going through the albums. I got into Paul's music around Tug of War time and once Pipes of Peace came out, I bought as much as I could afford! Have vague memories of some Wings hits (and the weird realisation that Paul had been in a band before!). Remember buying Once Upon A Long Ago CD single when it came out - didn't get a CD player for another 2 years but I suspected it would be a collectable! As for All The Best, always preferred the 20 track vinyl & cassette. My first concert of Paul was also Birmingham NEC in Jan 1990, what a moment to finally see him after waiting for what seemed like an age!
I was at that same show! Maccas voice kept cutting out early on in the show, voice tired, but his voice improved. Remember a single bagpipe player doing Mull of K outside the venue.
I agree. I think Back to the Egg was his best album between Venus and Mars and Flaming Pie. Definitely one of my favorites! An archive edition is the #1 thing on my wish list.
Yes Paul was the first to both perform and record for the Unplugged series. It maintains to have a very good reputation especially as many later Unplugged artists began to cheat more with some 'plugged' in instruments. being used. Probably only Paul and Eric Clapton were purely acoustic.
@@andreaschlapek780 I won't disagree with you, Plugged or not it was still a great show. Also, I was thinking more along the lines of what Springsteen did. Totally plugged in. Take care.
AN UPATE and a very young lady has hit gold without seeking it. Hi Andrew Before the update would you like to take a stab at how many official McCartney 3 iterations were released across vinyl, CD, and cassette. It was hard work and I had to do my homework - no promos etc. Strangely the only count I could find on the internet was very close to the new number. So many editions that even the internet couldn't keep up. A 17 year old girl working as a barista in my local coffee shop this morning revealled today she is a massive Beatle and Macca fan. I was so impressed. So I went home and came back with a pile of McCartney items for her to keep,. She will inherit my entire collection when I'm dead - I've been looking for someone to leave it to when the day comes. Basically a near stranger but that doesn't matter. She is a kind soul and of a young generation, who adores the fab four enormously. Problem solved. Thriving Pain - great title.
Very enjoyable video Andrew. My first McCartney live experience was also in January 1990, NEC. So, like you, I have very fond memories of Flowers in the Dirt. And, being cool is over-rated 😉.
That video is fantastic for me as a diehard fan! My top five McCartney albums are: 1. Band On The Run 2. RAM 3. Tug Of War 4. Venus And Mars 5. Flowers In The Dirt
Bought the Paul McCartney collection myself back in 1993, first CDs of his that I owned except for Wings Greatest and All the Best. Did remove the white covers, because I preferred the larger artwork. Have all of the Archive collection discs released so far, and kept the the PM Collection for the car. First exposure to solo McCartney as Maybe I'm Amazed on an album called Disco '77. An odd place to find such a song! Amazing collection you have there. Really nice to see it.
Enjoyable video Andrew. For the record, we both have the same 'first bought McCartney CD', that being the eighties version of Venus and Mars. I got mine (along with Red Rose Speedway) from the Beatles shop in Liverpool in 1990. Unfortunately, my Red Rose Speedway CD now has a nasty scratch which renders the back half of it unplayable. I now prefer Press to Play to Flowers in the Dirt. Btw, my Flowers in the Dirt World Tour pack has a 45 vinyl single of Party Party rather than an CD. Cheers, James
Cheers James, the joys of the Beatles Shop in the 90s! Sadly I don't think the shop has aged well, very tired now. I really wish I'd known Press To Play in 86, I suspect I would have played it to death then, instead of coming across it as a kind of much maligned curiosity in the 90s, but am glad I've still grown to love it!
@@AndrewDixonMusic I always liked it, but I definitely preferred Flowers when that first came out. I just find nowadays that PTP I can always listen to (and enjoy) whereas FITD gets on my nerves a fair bit!
As i,m older than you Andrew i,ve always based my collection on vinyl so gaps in my collection tend to be cds not record. Best two cd collections in my view that are not available on vinyl are Off the Ground Complete works from Japan and Europe and the Japanese double disc version of Flowers in the dirt. Great to see your collection Andrew
If you haven't done so, I would love some videos comparing the mixes (and general packaging) of original LPs vs CD first release, then newer releases, upto and including an archive release (if they have one).
What a collection ! I have most of Paul's cds from his studio albums and I thought that was a lot, but add in his CD singles and you have a massive amount. Thanks for taking the time to showcase your collection, really enjoyed it. By the way are you missing any? Take care.
There's quite a few "albums that Paul appears on" that I don't have, but in terms of everything released in his name, any CDs I don't have are pretty much only ones where I have the exact material already on something else.
Another great video, here is my top 5: 1. Back To The Egg 2. Band On The Run 3. Ram 4. Wings At The Speed Of Sound 5. London Town or Egypt Station Btw this list changes like once a week lol.
Thanks for your great video. I know know what I need to fill-in my collection with. I bought two deluxe versions of "Memory Almost Full" the last one containing a DVD. There is the orchestral version of the Ram album "Thrillington". I also collected the small CD of "This One" labeled Maxi-CD which includes "The First Stone", "I Wanna Cry" and cover of Fats Domino's "I'm In Love Again".
Everly Brothers EB 84 has On the Wings of a Nightingale. There's a cd ep called One Year On 46664, that was only available in Spain, which has a great version of "Whole Life" which was included in demo form on the Flaming Pie Archive.
I remember picking up Anya Alexeyev's piano rendition of A Leaf and really enjoying it. It's difficult to find these days, though. I certainly prefer it to the version on Working Classical, which I feel loses something in the translation. I do think it'd be nice if Paul composed a few more piano pieces and released them as an album, like Billy Joel's Fantasies and Delusions, if you've heard that.
Andrew some CDs you missed. Film soundtrack song I want you to come home, Paul collaborations duet with Tony Bennett The very thought of you on Duets album. Eric Clapton cd Old sock Paul duets on All of me, Carl Perkins Go Cat Go Paul duet My Old Friend and Paul writes song Songbird in a cage on Charlotte Gainsbourg album Rest. So many ! Does he never stop !
@@AndrewDixonMusic I'm pretty sure the copy i have is a promo rather than a bootleg. Cracking video btw, makes me want to go through my own collection in a similar manner
I remember "all my trials" being touted as an anti-thatcher statement by paul, and even remember him giving newsnight an interview. I bought the cd single souly for the live -- sound check -- version of C - moon, after seeing a ch 4 doc on his (at the time) current live tour where i belive that very version was included, it was an out door venue if memory serves and had him on the ol joanna
"Duane Eddy His Twangy Guitar and the Rebels" has both Paul and George on it. Carl Perkins' "Blue Suede Shoes" has the duet with Paul "My Old Friend" + all the other Beatles. Johnny Cash's duet with Paul on "Water From The Wells of Home". I'm not sure if you mentioned these or not.
As always I am watching this late. But it's funny that you are doing a video like this, because last night I was curious on how many copies of "McCartney" I had both in vinyl and CD's. I counted twelve. I have multiple copies of each album, but I probably have more copies of the McCartney album than any of his other albums. I think, anyways.
Kevin, thank you, one of my intentions with a video like this is that I'll get the odd pointer to something that for whatever reason I'd never got around to buying and had subsequently slipped my mind. This is one of those things, I can see that it's not too expensive or difficult to get hold of so I'm hoping to get an order in tonight. Cheers! 👍
Nice video you have a fantastic collection! `The Family Way` movie is as you say well worth a watch. Many good performances and Sir John Mills is brilliant in it!
Nice episode Andrew - great dead-pan 'shout out' to the Daily M**l! I laughed out loud. Not sure if this was supposed to be a definitive collection, but a few more CDs come to mind a) Knebworth 1990 (also on DVD), where Paul and band play 2 tracks (more on the DVD), b) one track on Brian Wilson's 'Over My Head' album of 2004, c) 'I Would Only Smile', originally on Denny's 'Japanese Tears' (which is not on DC as far as I know), and then on some of the DC repackages (also on the archive RRS, although not sure if same version). No CD single of 'Spies Like Us'? (probably a good thing!)
I don't think there ever was a CD single of Spies Like Us, not to my knowledge anyway! I'm fairly sure the Knebworth tracks are on 1 of the CD singles I showed (but I'm not at home right now to check), and if that's the case that would explain me not buying the Knebworth album, I tend to only buy things if they offer some unique content I don't already have.
How about a review of the Capital releases. FYI, I’m an original Fab Four fan. I heard the first releases of the Vee Jay and Swan releases that preceded the first Capital album. Great memories. Also, you do a bang up job and don’t miss your shows. Have you ever seen the Pop Goes the 60s podcast? I saw John Lennon on Thanksgiving night in MSG 1974 with Elton John. The audience went ballistic. And I saw Paul at Met Life stadium in 2016. Sadly it was a bit disappointing. BTW I visited a company in Huddersfield a few times.
The first time I saw it on TV,it was later than the one year anniversary of George's death(29 November 2002)-Good Friday 2003.Not sure of the exact date.
Hello Andrew, i saw your video and in the end my first thought was that I have to rewatch the whole thing. But this time with a pen and a piece of paper in my hands. Thanks a lot :) ... and then there is the question if there are signs for more beatles-related cd´s to come out soon? After POB, ATMP and GB last year it seems that this year will be more quiet.
Your collection may impress everyone! But let me make only one note. The Russian album is named "Снова в СССР" or "Back in the USSR" in translate - the first song on White Album. Paul tried to pay attention on The Beatles, himself and rock-n-roll classic.
"All The Best" was one of my first Paul McCartney CDs I purchased,I'm not sure about the cassette version.I no longer have any cassettes, since I no longer have a cassette player.
Paul also co-wrote (in 1969) with Steve Miller, "My Dark Hour." Paul performs on the recording playing just about everything and also does vocals with Steve Miller. At this point he was supposed to be incognito and is credited as Paul Ramone (I think/you can look it up). Paul's involvement was such a poorly kept secret that it was even mentioned in the review of the single in New Musical Express, at the time of release. Paul and Steve were/are friends and Paul has been involved in a number of projects with The Steve Miller Band. You could also have mentioned the album McGear (early 1970's) by Paul's Brother Mike. The band on the album is the full Wings line-up and Paul and Linda provide backing vocals. Most if not all of the songs are written by Paul or are joint written involving him. "Man Who Found God On The Moon, is a standout, as is the single "Leave It." A box set with extra tracks was recently released (50 years since release, I think). Paul also featured on the massive hit by Band Aid, "Do they Know It's Christmas." He is credited on the record but was not present when they shot the promo video.
I love the story around My Dark Hour and what a big day it was in the Beatles break up history. I did show my McGear box set and talked about that here! 🙂👍
Just some other albums Pauls contributes on include: Ringo (album) Six o'clock (which Paul actually wrote, he also contributed to You're Sixteen), La De Da (Vocals from Ringo's album Vertical Man), Grow Old With Me (From Ringo's album 'What's My Name' and written by John Lennon!!), Tony Bennett Duets (Paul does a vocal duet on The Very Thought of You', there is a promo cd of Figure of 8 which includes the 12 inch version and a promo cd single for Your Loving Flame with two remixes. Although no inclusion of Paul, MPL released an EP titled Paul McCartney Original Versions of 4 songs from RUN DEVIL RUN. A strange one this but it does feature Paul on the cover. There is also the album 'Good Rockin' Tonight The Legacy of Sun Records' where on track one Paul performs That's All Right'. Another is I walk to Walk You Home from ' Goin' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino', ' Heal the Pain' with Geroge Michael oh the album 25, Rave on (Album Holly Days), The Honorary Councul (which I think eventually was released on cd Paul actually wrote the main theme), and then there is almost all the material on Denny Laine's Japanese Tears, and his brother's albums. Paul wrote most of the Elvis Costello single release ' Veronica' and many songs he co-wrote with Costello on the release Spike and the follow up Playboy to a Man. All of us on Andrew's channel will be familiar with dozens of albums Paul contributes on beyond these so I will not list any more. I simply included these as Pauls parts are so substantial. Well better be off as I have to fight The Battle of the Skeletons!
That's a lot of cds! I think I might have 10 of those. I want to get the archive cds eventually. You forgot one, he sings a song on Steve Martin rare bird alert. Great song Best Love.
Great collection , It is my understanding that the rarest CD from Flowers In The Dirt or maybe even overall from Paul McCartney is a Test / Reference pressing of "Figure Of Eight" , the disc contains the same mixes as the standard promo CD , it is completely blank with only the Capitol Records Information in the hub area and had no artwork at all , my understanding is that less than a hand full of these were ever pressed and it is nearly impossible to find , I would love to be able to find out from Capitol Records the exact number of these that were pressed.
Yesterday I saw a "Pipes of Peace" LP in the clearance bin at my local JB Hi-Fi store but didn't buy it,being short of funds.Maybe it will still be there in a couple of days?🤞
Actually, "I'm Partial to Your Abracadabra" was also released as a CD-single. I have it. I hope the fact that you don't own it won't make you too restless. After all, there may be some "B-sides" on there, maybe a song that you already have four times elsewhere - BUT, in a mix that lasts ten seconds longer. Or maybe there are no "B-sides" on it at all...

Is that different to the 2 disc version I showed?
It’s the two cd pink cover includes live at the Electric Ballroom 7.6.2007...didn’t see this in your collection. Did you ever buy the Highlights single cd of Liverpool Oratorio?
Great video Andrew. I have most of those but didn't buy the CD singles. I also have a vinyl version of the Flowers In The Dirt tour pack.
Ps: love Back To The Egg to Death:) My first Paul album ever:) Would love to see an Archive treatment:)
I agree. I hope there is all the promo videos as well as the Rockestra documentary included in the box set
Supposedly Back To The Egg is coming.
@@georgeprice4212 the key word here being 'supposedly' :) That would be great though.
I agree. I think Back to the Egg was his best album between Venus and Mars and Flaming Pie. Definitely one of my favorites! An archive edition is the #1 thing on my wish list.
Thanks Andrew for an informative ,interesting and timely video on your Mccartney CD collection. Great ideas for updating my McCartney CD collection.
I still like "We All Stand Together",it's a harmless novelty song.
Hi, on the 10cc album "Meanwhile . . ." there is a song co written by Paul McCartney
Yes Paul was the first to both perform and record for the Unplugged series. It maintains to have a very good reputation especially as many later Unplugged artists began to cheat more with some 'plugged' in instruments. being used. Probably only Paul and Eric Clapton were purely acoustic.
I would add Nirvana to your list. Whether you like them or not they put on a fantastic acoustic performance.
@@martindomines5863 Very true. Actually someone else also reminded me of this. Cheers Martin
@@martindomines5863 Kurt's guitar was plugged
@@andreaschlapek780 I won't disagree with you, Plugged or not it was still a great show. Also, I was thinking more along the lines of what Springsteen did. Totally plugged in. Take care.
Hello Mr Dixon
I just finished listening to this whole video and there is only one word to describe your collection
Amazing😂
Thank you! 🙂👍
AN UPATE and a very young lady has hit gold without seeking it.
Hi Andrew
Before the update would you like to take a stab at how many official McCartney 3 iterations were released across vinyl, CD, and cassette.
Kevin Norwich. Thanks Andrew, very good video.Perhaps you could do separate one solely on guest appearances etc .
All the best my first McCartney album too. Wore it out! Great video again and what a collection. 👍
Very enjoyable video Andrew. My first McCartney live experience was also in January 1990, NEC. So, like you, I have very fond memories of Flowers in the Dirt. And, being cool is over-rated 😉.
That video is fantastic for me as a diehard fan! My top five McCartney albums are:
1. Band On The Run
2. RAM
3. Tug Of War
4. Venus And Mars
5. Flowers In The Dirt
How about a vinyl edition of this? Have seen a bit of vinyl through vinyl updates but would love to see such a marathonviewing like this
Bought the Paul McCartney collection myself back in 1993, first CDs of his that I owned except for Wings Greatest and All the Best.
Cheers Sam, yes Maybe I'm Amazed, that disco classic! 😄
Use to play the hell out of "Looking for You" in '97. Totally kick-ass!
Is yours the vinyl LP version too? Great package including a Pete Frame Paul McCartney rock family tree.
Thanks David. You could fill the Albert Hall with the holes in my vinyl collection!
Flaming Pie, was my first ever McCartney album. Always remember searching high and low for all the CD Singles to complete the Oobu Joobu parts.
Really enjoyed this one Andrew , keep up the great work 👍
The cloth inner sleeve to Once Upon a Long Ago is from the original release.
If you haven't done so, I would love some videos comparing the mixes (and general packaging) of original LPs vs CD first release, then newer releases, upto and including an archive release (if they have one).
There's a nice album by Eric Clapton called "Old Sock" with Paul on vocal and upright bass called "All of Me". Very nice track.
Another great video, here is my top 5:
1. Back To The Egg
2. Band On The Run
3. Ram
4. Wings At The Speed Of Sound
5. London Town or Egypt Station
Btw this list changes like once a week lol.
I love back to the egg too!!
@@WeepingRichard ikr! I don't know why its at the bottom of so many people's lists... I absolutely love every single track
Love, love,"Flowers In The Dirt".We were the same age in 1989,Andrew.
Just got this so yes cup of tea in hand and here’s to sir Paul 🎸
«Run Devil Run” the best! ✌️🔥💥👍🎸🎶🎹🎼❗️💯
Everly Brothers EB 84 has On the Wings of a Nightingale. There's a cd ep called One Year On 46664, that was only available in Spain, which has a great version of "Whole Life" which was included in demo form on the Flaming Pie Archive.
Thanks Robert, I've tried to get hold of that 46664 CD, not easy to find!
Give My Regards to Broadstreet was so pilloried,as a film.
What an excellent video Sir. Can you please go through Dylan's CD's from that red box of yours in the same manner?
Thanks, interesting idea!
Great - I got to learn quite a lot that was new to me - thank you
Wonderful job overall. Sure do have a big collection. Congratulations.
Great video Andrew, you missed out Maybe Baby (Buddy Holly cover) from the Ben Elton film
Cheers Nick. I have an MP3 of that but never got round to buying the CD, I may well put that right soon! 👍
In fact I've just found it on eBay for £2 and bought it! 👍
Has Paul's version of I Want To Come Home ever had an official CD release? I've only ever seen what are obviously bootlegs being offered on eBay.
@@AndrewDixonMusic yes i think your right.
@@AndrewDixonMusic I'm pretty sure the copy i have is a promo rather than a bootleg. Cracking video btw, makes me want to go through my own collection in a similar manner
Macca 2 is one of his best
Very excited!
It's interesting to see some of the CD singles that just weren't issued here in America. At least not that my record store had in stock!
Thanks Andrew. The Lulu track is sensational
Thank you, I didn't mention (or have) any of those! I'm building up a nice list of "needs"....
@@AndrewDixonMusic Paul reworked his Ram outtake/demo "Rode All Night" into the song "Giddy" for a Roger Daltrey solo album.
Andrew didn’t see”the concert for New York City”mentioned Paul had the last 4 tracks on disc 2 including Freedom(Finale).Enjoyed the video as usual.
Cheers! 👍
Great video Andrew! Would be great to see how you organise everything in your iTunes as it sounds like it would be an archive in itself!
Thanks Richard! I have thought about doing an iTunes collection video. Would have to organise it so it's not 15 hours long!
Enjoyed you have a wonderful collection you mentioned George’s memorial did you go I could not get a ticket watched it at the cinema upset
No I didn't go, would have been a great night!
And I saw Paul at Met
Life stadium in 2016. Sadly it was a bit disappointing. BTW I visited a company in Huddersfield a few times.
Nice to hear Half Man Half Biscuit get a namecheck. Have you heard the Voltarol Years? Early contender for my best albums of 2022.
I haven't! I still have a heck of a lot to explore from them.
I still love "Concert For George".As many of the participants have passed on now,it becomes more poignant as the years pass.
The first time I saw it on TV,it was later than the one year anniversary of George's death(29 November 2002)-Good Friday 2003.Not sure of the exact date.
I had the great fortune to be at that concert, a night that I will never ever forget.
All very quiet on the Beatles related releases at the moment, but really hoping there will be some John/Paul info soon!
Your collection may impress everyone! But let me make only one note. The Russian album is named "Снова в СССР" or "Back in the USSR" in translate - the first song on White Album. Paul tried to pay attention on The Beatles, himself and rock-n-roll classic.
Flowers in the window by travis isn’t on The Man Who album, it’s on the Invisible Band
Thanks I really enjoyed this xx
"All The Best" was one of my first Paul McCartney CDs I purchased,I'm not sure about the cassette version.I no longer have any cassettes, since I no longer have a cassette player.
Still enjoy the multiple versions of "Figure Of Eight".
I've got the "Back In The U.S" version.I haven't seen Vanilla Sky either, probably not missing much after all this time.
You can also add Paul's "Cut Me Some Slack" with Dave Grohl & Krist Novocelic on the Sound City soundtrack album.
I wish Parlophone would do a re-release of the Beatles Mono Box set , like they did with the Queen Box of coloured vinyl from 2015 , I think 🤔
That's a lot of cds! I think I might have 10 of those. I want to get the archive cds eventually. You forgot one, he sings a song on Steve Martin rare bird alert. Great song Best Love.
Thanks Jean, Best Love and the Steve Martin CD was there in the video! 😉
@@AndrewDixonMusic haha. I must have missed it!
I like Andrews impression of Paul's voice on Check My Machine. Tropic island hum is a little known macca classic IMHO.
Tropic Island Hum is a far better song than Yellow Submarine IMHO
Great collection , It is my understanding that the rarest CD from Flowers In The Dirt or maybe even overall from Paul McCartney is a Test / Reference pressing of "Figure Of Eight" , the disc contains the same mixes as the standard promo CD , it is completely blank with only the Capitol Records Information in the hub area and had no artwork at all , my understanding is that less than a hand full of these were ever pressed and it is nearly impossible to find , I would love to be able to find out from Capitol Records the exact number of these that were pressed.
Not aware of that one! Never seen one come up on eBay.
The "cloth" in which the CD single Once Upon A Long Ago comes is original.

I'd forgotten about "The Family Way".Perhaps I should seek it out.
I have Wingspan but haven't listened to it in ages.
I only use it for the things I don't have elsewhere, like the single edit of Take It Away.

Not familiar with Wreckorder, I shall do some googling!

Agree with nearly everything this guy says. Reckon Liverpool Oratorio has some great tracks, they need more than one or two listens. Bit overlong, a single LO cd would have been very good
