I think the ice maker is neat and a good use of space. In my current fridge, the space over the compressor doesn’t cool that great compared to the rest of the unit, so I have to be picky with what I put there ( but I choose things I would have anyway). This fridge uses that area plus I don’t have to worry about keeping an ice tray level inside the freezer.
I think this is great for someone that wants an ice maker and fridge but is very space confined.
I saw that the basket was removed when storing the divider in the top. I wasn’t sure if the basket could go back in with the divider stowed. It would be great to be able to use the basket in either configuration.
    Great review!!!

Great review Jason. All the right details and no unnecessary fluff.
I like the design and think the ice maker would come in handy as there have been many times I'm in the desert wishing I had ice. I personally don't mind needing to use the AC to make ice. It would've been ideal if the ice maker didn't require the battery, but with AC available on my power station, it's not a deal breaker for me. I currently have an Acopower fridge which has a built-in battery and the battery has saved me a couple of times. One on a long 2wk trip, the cable to charge my power station broke at the connector, so after it was drained, I couldn't use the power station anymore since I couldn't recharge it. I used the built-in fridge battery the rest of the trip. I saw your video of your fridge battery going all independence day, but I've dealt with that stuff with RCs and other hobbies and know that's always a risk with Li-Ion.
I'd prefer a larger fridge though, minimum 50qt, or preferably 60qt. I want a dual zone as my current one isn't.
Price for the features is reasonable IMO. It's higher than I'd like to pay honestly, but comparatively lower than the big brands and more than the less featured Icecos. A nice option for those looking for the features.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  Рік тому +1

Yeah, I don't think I'd have quite the experience from this built in battery since it's from a much better brand! Haha Great feedback and comments, thanks for checking out the video!

Great stuff sir, you removed so much anxiety for me since ordering on “early bird”. Couldn’t see your review ‘till after the fact so fingers crossed. I so much wanted the APL 55 but was too large for it’s home in truck. I’d be fine with an EcoFlow w/o ice maker in 50 ish qt. size. Must of watched your APL 55 review 10+ times. Certainly don’t believe I would have done “suggested “ price on EcoFlow. A Delta mini user.

Maybe I missed it somewhere, what is the weight of the unit w/wo battery? Looks heavy/big for a sub 40L unit, partly due to many features included than one might not need. A bit of a tradeoff I guess. Efficiency seems ok.

Although I'm glad that someone came up with this 3 in 1 device, my experience with the EcoFlow 1300's have soured me on them. The absolute worse "Round Trip" performance of any power unit. 58% and 59% on the 2 units that I have.
I do love the removable partition. I use it all the time in my ICECO 20.
As for a portable ice maker, I had been using an ALDI one, with an inverter in my RV. However, with a recent sale, I tried the BougeRV DC ice-maker for $200. It is very quiet, and draws 70~80w. A possible option for those that already have the fridge/freezer, or want more placement options for their portable appliances.

the icemaker feels a bit gimmicky, and that you have to manually remove the ice each time, well at least it can be done with the battery installed and hopefully you get enough ice before you run out of juice.
not sure why anyone would want to get this without the "optional" wheels and battery, imo they should just be included. and yeah i know what youre gonna say, the price point, well with fewer options the price point can stabilise and you just leave out the few people that for some reason wouldn't want them.
speaking of price point, the last cooler you reviewed was a lot more attractive in price point (setpower), but someone will definitely get this for the ice maker built in.

Mine should be here shortly. I returned a rough country 50l fridge with built in battery. I returned it because it would max out at 100 watt solar input, so the solar couldn't keep up with the fridge itself and would die . I don't know why reviewers always compare these type of fridges to non battery ones. It's like comparing an old wired remote control car to a wireless rc one, it's stupid. You can tell these reviewers don't actually use these things real world. Real world you would have thrown it in the back of your suv or truck, hooked up the max 240 watt solar, stuck in the battery and tested it. To see how long it actually works.
The only real negative I see so far is putting the charge port on the same side as the ice maker and controls. This makes it when you mount it in a fridge slide, the wires will be dangling out on the front of the slide. Ecoflow somehow missed that.

I plan to do real world testing an post a video about that too.... but I get much more accurate power comsumption results than other channels that just test at 70F only. I also test at 85F so you can see the difference in usage.
I have plenty of experience with 12v fridges with built in batteries, not a huge fan of the NCM batteries and the little bombs that they can be LOL: ua-cam.com/video/1qOM5ih0IHg/v-deo.html

@@Jasonoid I just meant testing indoors is similar to a lab test that yields unreal results. This specifically being a built in battery fridge will be used outside and or in cars, trunks, truck beds etc. Like I mentioned the, the rough country one absolutely sucked! It also had horrible insulation.. Or rather, lack thereof. Luckily there customer service was pretty great, so far anyways.
I do agree I'd prefer they used lfp batteries. I'm just hoping this specific one's solar charging actually keeps up, as advertised. If it doesn't I'll just go back to the old school route of wiring in a 2nd battery in my 4runner but I'd like to avoid that... Ibalso plan on using this on my boat... And as an additional/backup fridge in my travel trailer... Basically all things Outdoors/offroad

I think the weight of 50 pounds is a deal breaker for me along with the size. Also, the ice maker is just something else to go wrong. Why not keep a ziplock bag of ice in the freezer section and a spare ice cube tray for making ice? The warranty on the compressor doesn’t compare to the warranty provided by Iceco. I think EcoFlow should make a smaller size without the ice maker. I have three solar generators and 4 solar panels from EcoFlow and am very happy with them. This is not something I would buy.

Nice review, but after seeing your video of the fridge with its included incendiary device, I don't think I care for built in Li-ion batteries on these.
For the price, if you need the icemaker, it's not bad. If you don't, there are many other capable choices for a whole lot less. While I can see why they made this one, I don't think I'm the target audience.

@@rcguymike takes about 12 minutes after it's rocking and rolling. The first batch takes longer. After an hour, he only had that little bowl worth of ice.
Look, I've camped for over 30 years. I love gadgets and gimmicks. We've tried them all. My friend currently has a dedicated ice maker. It doesn't get used. She was disappointed in the miniscule amount of ice produced.
