    Wow! Extremely detailed and covered lots of wanted information. I have this fridge for a while and familiar with it, but really enjoyed this video.
    Better than others who just give specs that anyone can read on the website.
    Awesome video!

    Fantastic data driven review. The Ice Maker is a game changer for touring (probably not so great for the high country!). More fridges should use vacuum panels for insulation, there's nothing more thermally efficient.
    I noticed you're manually checking temps and power usage. For power, I use the Mooshimeter, you can measure AC/DC both voltage and current simultaneously 10a/600v and datalog to the SD up to every second (Can use a current clamp for higher currents) I just use an usb oscilloscope if I need a higher sample rate . For temps I use the 88598 4 channel temp data logger, which is great, but it's maximum data rate is 1Hz, so I've been searching for for a stand alone temp data logger with a higher sample rate.
    We all know these types of reviews aren't going to do as well as regular content views wise, so I really appreciate the massive amount of time you've put into this review.

      I will admit that there's no way my testing and equipment compares with your channel, but I hope that this can suffice for the majority of viewers 🤞

    Great video mate - it's good to see manufacturers expanding design and functionality to provide consumers with options. Like you say, this might not suit everyone but it's good to see more choice that lets people get out and enjoy the outdoors in whatever way that suits them best.

      For sure, just the innovation and features get other competitors to start thinking about new things and the ideas start flowing. It's a great product and helpfully they'll only improve on things in their Gen 2's down the track 👍

    Nathan, great review as always, total respect to you.
    Awesome to see you've arrived home, with all those experiences inbedded into two young developing minds.
    They'll never look back from here, as we found out ourselves, advances them in the real world later on in life with all the knowledge, socialising skills obtained.
    Credit to you both.
    I'm truly looking forward to the future videos of this mega adventure, bring them on!!!
    Now I've not heard of the Ecoflow until now primarily because I'm setup and not researching to buy a fridge.
    I've run a 47 litre Evacool fridge freezer since early 2012. Freezer section is possibly 15 litres of the capacity, balance is fridge. It's not seperately controlled, hence I've selected a setting that has freezer sit between -7° to -9° fridge between 3° to 8°. It's not great but a good compromise.
    It will freeze zuperdoopers to treat grandkids on trips, (an ideal item for any occasion someone has over exserted themselves to regain their sugers and lower temps, always got them ready to go).
    It's not unusual for us to leave on an adventure with frozen meats only to return home with them as I'm able to get fresh foods onroute. Frozen always there for emergencies in event we get stranded for some reason.
    Just love my Evacool, 11 to 12 years in, going strong. Since installing Itech Lithium in 2021 the fridge/freezer just stays on continuously, switched off for defrosting only, (possibly 6 times for couple hours) then back on since lithium upgrade.
    It's super reliable. Watch the bloody thing fail now I've praised it, haha 😂.
    Regards, Wealie.

      Hey mate, yes we are back home now. Full of memories and great experience (and maybe carrying a few extras kgs to 😬 ) I have 1 week left before the reality of a regular day job sets back in, but I don't regret anything we have done and would do it the same again if I had my time over!
      I will get these trip episodes out, but they are almost a full time job in themselves organising and editing the footage 🤦‍♂️ It will get there though. This being said I have a few other videos ready to release in the coming weeks, so hopefully I can avoid some of these big breaks again.
      That's just it though isn't it. No point in changing products that work for you, that's all that really matters in the end. Although the EcoFlow may be great, its not worth the money if what you have works for what you do... this being said, I'm sure you are glad you upgrade to lithium though 😉
      Here's hoping it continues for you 🤞
      Great to hear from you again 👍

    Great review; had this product been available 6 months ago I would have gone with it plus a panel rather than the battery, charge controller, and fridge plus panel. Total expenditure would have been less, fridge volume almost the same, but I wouldn't have a battery in a battery box taking valuable storage volume. Hopefully by the time my current setup expires this style will be more the norm than the exception.

    It has a temperature sensor fault that others, and myself, have experienced. Makes the unit almost useless since it cannot detect temperature and it wants to freeze itself to reach a temperature it cannot see.

    Great innovation for a 12v fridge design. Personally I'm not a fan of Li-ion batteries however the practicality is beneficial if looking for an all in one solution. Time will tell how reliable these fridges are and also very important. spare parts availability across the country for out of warranty repairs. Thanks for the content. Cheers

    I own it. Left in parkade temperature for months (in car). At full freezer or split -15 to -25 degrees Celsius, eco mode stationary untouched, lasts less than a day (20 to 22 hrs). Why -25 setting? Because in practical use of 25-30 ambient degrees Celsius, this fridge barely holds -4 degrees even though you have it a t much lower temperatures. You need two portable batteries or else this is overall less than a day use.

    Dude you can buy plastic/metal ice cubes which you can just chuck in the freezer, they have water inside obviously, the plastic ones don't cool down your drinks as quickly because the plastic insolates them slightly, but they are cheap and with an insolated bottle they get your drinks plenty chilly, the metal once work as well as regular ice cubes, but they are expensive, but they should also last basicaly forever. Like to be fair it took me a while having to deal with trying to make ice in a freezer without an ice rank to think of looking for something like this, but yeh it's a pretty good way to make ice at home and has the extra benefit of not diluting your drink. You will also want to buy some sterlizing fluid for the plastic once though, the metal ones you can just put in boiling water to sterlize them.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  8 місяців тому

      Thanks Heidi 🙏
      Yeah, I've had a look and they're similar with a few minor differences. The Companion has a bigger battery and uses more Aussie things like the Anderson, where by the EcoFlow has little extra's like bi-directional USB-C and auto dual zone detection. The Companion also uses the more common 60W compressor, however without the ice maker, this wouldn't have any advantage or disadvantage.
      The advantage of the Companion is the price, almost half the price and the biggest selling point is the small 38L litre, for those who don't want a big fridge.
      Very similar, yet little differences 👍

      I haven't tried actually making ice, but I have forgotten to drain the water before driving. There is no 'waterproof' type seal on that hinged lid, however I found that it didn't spill everywhere while I was driving.

    Ive been looking at this fridge after watching this video
    And a couple of comments to me were nice fridge but the battery is a Lithiumn ion
    Or wouldn't by one with that battery.
    So is there anything wrong with a lithium ion battery?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  5 місяців тому

      For sure, so there are a couple of diffference and probably something I should have mentioned in this episode. The battery is Lithium Ion, which is different from Lithium Iron Phosphate (LifePO4). Lithium Ion doesn't have the same longevity as LifePO4 (about a quarter life time)... however it's still a long time. Lithium Ion is also more energy dense, so it's more powerful and can be a smaller form factor when compared with the same capacity LifePO4. Sometime the Lithium Ion can also be a little more unstable (still safe, just not as much as LifePO4) so it has a slightly increase chance of things like thermal runaway.
      In the end Lithium Ion is still safe (I've been running one as my LC200's starter battery under bonnet for years now), however it is slightly different. Personally I wouldn't let this factor alone put you off a feature packed fridge like this (unless theres another that suits better)
      Hope this helps 👍

  • @Etheoma
    @Etheoma 8 місяців тому

    OOF!!! I was like yeh this seems neet before I heard the price... like sure do I expect to be taken for somewhat of a ride because of the proabality, sure... but 1800 AUD or here 1200 GBP... Erm fuck off, like I wouldn't spend that on a fridge 4x the size. considering you can get 12V fridges for like £300 err yeh na, I'll buy a 12V 100 amp hour battery with that and a charger and still be better off.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  8 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, they're not cheap, but they are still competitive in the local market. The only thing the Glacier has working against it is the lack of known reliability, if it can las the test of time, then it will be a good product in the long run 👍
