Here's my complete guide to the entire collection of fragrances from Guerlain that are marketed to men, including the discontinued ones. Feel free to share your preferences, I wasn't able to, as I love so many!
You are such a gift to your listeners! I learned so much from this video. Have never experienced Mouchier… you are working as archivist + record keeper here… like I mentioned, a gift. Had never seen the vintage Vetiver bottle (but love and wear this male-marketed beauty)… wow the design + symbolism. You describe scents so thoughtfully… reminds me of visual art curation (I yelled YES back when you described Vetiver facet as “angular”-never considered that PERFECT description). I need to purchase Habit Rouge next me thinks or maybe Derby… or the male L’Instant… lol! Have been wanting to know more re: L’eau Boisée. HR Dress Code sounds gorgeous. During my recent visit to Guerlain in Paris I kept wondering what you would think about this or that change (soon to make video re: that experience). Grateful to know + learn from you; wish you were my neighbor!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I feel the same way whenever i listen to you describe scents! I heartily recommend Habit Rouge, and if you could get your hands on a Derby, it is gorgeous. Wore it a lot in the last days, it’s beginning to be a comfort scent for me, that Guerlain creamy beeswax is there and it’s enveloping. I can’t wait for your video on the Guerlain flagship store, was such a tremendous experience for me back in 2019. Things have changed so much in 3 years, indeed. Hope they are increasingly welcoming to their customers. Wish you all the best!
Love your videos mate... i have a Derby bottle in between the one you have and the original "Eagle bottle" and I always say if I have to go give the most important speech of my life or close the most important deal its Derby I would reach for ... but my favorite Masculin fragrance of all time from Guerlain is Heritage but I prefer the EDT 😊
Thanks, mate! It’s the same for me. Derby is just too good. Wore it yesterday, 2 days in a row, can’t get enough. It also has that woody-waxy Guerlain thing you can find in Heritage, Lidg. Amazing scent
You’re very welcome! Well I suspect that many things can come from the original Habit Rouge, if we look at past flankers, all very nice and interesting. We shall see! I’m just glad they are focusing on Habit Rouge again
Yea, that’s true. There’s also Mouchoir de Monsieur which is even earlier. What we smell now in Caron Pour un Homme it would be a relaunch so unfortunately we have no idea what the original was about. But many of these claims of which is the “first” fragrance on something are mostly just marketing, so you are completely right
@@MemoryFlo Right. I never claimed that Homme pre-dated Mouchoir, assuming that Mouchoir was actually marketed to men (its name suggests it might have been; I've never seen the ads). You said that Habit Rouge was the first fragrance with a prominent dose of vanilla that was marketed to men. I just wanted to point out that everything I've read about the history of Caron Pour un Homme indicates that it has always been primarily based on Lavender and Vanilla. Have I smelled a bottle from 1934? No, I must admit that I cannot independently verify that the Homme was strongly dosed with vanilla prior to Habit Rouge's 1965 launch. I meant no offense. Thank you for this and many other informative and enjoyable videos.
i love habit rouge , heritage too but im very disturbed that i cannot smell l’instant de guerlain at all . i was looking forward to wearing it so much . i wish someone could explain this to me 😢
So is it the case that you spray the L’Instant and you smell nothing at all? It’s rather strange but the only fragrance this happens to me with is CK Be. Our human noses cannot possibly smell everything so in the rare case that you cannot smell a fragrance at all it is usually because you are anosmic to a majority of its ingredients. You can train your nose to detect it, though. Buy a small decant so you own it, and spray it on a test strip and come back to it daily. Smell it once and leave it for half a day or more, then come back. Don’t spend too much time with it in one smelling session. That’s usually how it’s done. I was anosmic to iso E super for a long time, now i detect it everywhere

Thank you for the overview! Looking forward for the new flanker of Habit Rouge. What can they make out of this great DNA that's new and exciting?

I’d say that Caron pour un Homme has a generous dose of vanilla and was marketed to men prior to habit rouge
