Brilliant video, thank you. I think you're right. The .22lr is easier to live with but has its limitations when shooting in trees. The air rifle, with that power control and choice of pellets, is much more adaptable for everything from short range ratting and feral pigeon to long range rabbit control. Whilst many will disagree I think the humane range limitation for these calibres is 50 yards, pinpoint accuracy with a small and slow projectile being the limiting factor.

A fascinating subject. Airguns have come so far!

There was more noise from the hammer spring on the FX than the from the muzzle even without a moderator . Nice shooting . Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well.

A box of 200 slugs is around £13 I can also get 200 rounds of 22lr for the same price . And a could fire off them 200 rounds and not have to worry about the pressure in my bottle

I have always loved your articles Bruce, but why do you insist in comparing the price of a top of the range new airgun with a second hand rimfire? If I wanted a cheaper airgun there are still loads of second hand Theoben Rapids on the market, plus the second hand price of many FAC airguns is much lover than their non FAC counterparts.

What an excellent comparison test. It would have been even more interesting if you could have given a cost breakdown of live ammo compared with the cost of an air fill and pellets and even possibly a pentration test at each set range. Perhaps a follow up video?
Thank you again for a very interest video. 😉👏👍

Hi Bruce I don’t own a Rimfire but I know that in twenty years time if you keep it cleaned it will shoot just as good as when it was new, that being said will you still be able to get all the O’ rings and moving parts in your FX that will wear out in the same timeframe and you also have to have the air bottle safety checked every so many years.
Because a 22lr bullet has a higher BC and is travelling faster it is less susceptible to crosswinds than an air rifle , but the bullet speed isn’t as constant as an air rifle and the other point I would like to ask is do you get a cold bore shift on your Rimfire on the first shot which can be a drawback when hunting or are you lucky with your barrels harmonics !

I think a more comparable test would have been to compare a second hand fac air rifle costing about the same price as the rimfire , or if that was not possible ,a voodoo or rim x 22 lr against the fx king so both would be on an equal price footing.
Also , as good as eley subs are for hunting , they are hardly target ammo. Again it would have been fairer to maybe compare Sk match , eley tenex , Lapua etc to the Zan slugs.
    All the best 👍

Nice to see a P94 given an outing. FX king is on my list.

Very interesting, but for the majority of folk largely immaterial because a F.A.C isn’t an option.

First of all the legal limit for an air rifle is 12 foot pounds not 24. Another thing the rim fire fires a lead bullet the air rifle fires a lead slug or pellet but the only one that ricochet is the rimfire that's not true.

If your going for a FAC Air rifle they don’t half to be 12 ft pounds that’s only for unlicensed air rifles

It's actually sub 12ftlbs, 12ftlb is illegal unless it's on your FAC. Just saying 😊

Them FX are very unreliable, new models released every year and resale value of FAC airguns is peanuts

You don’t buy guns for resale value and fx sell millions of guns there will be issues, I’ve had 2 impacts over the last 6 years not a problem but of course some will if it’s no different to any other brands selling that volume
