  • So as it's a little over a year since I started reviewing airguns, I thought it about time that I should post my top 5 PCPs and top 3 Springers. All the air rifles are sub 12 ft lbs and shot on a safe target range.
    This is purely a montage on me shooting these rifles on the accuracy test.
    To see the full reviews on each of the air rifles shown and more check out my channel:‪@theGunLocker‬

    Interesting video. As someone has already pointed out springers shoot best rested in the hand then your hand on the rest. I can almost guarantee your flyers are caused by the rifle bouncing in the rest causing inconsistent recoil pattern.

    • @theGunLocker
      @theGunLocker  10 місяців тому +5

      Sorry but that's absolute rubbish...you can't guarantee anything! The pellets were straight out of the tin, not weighed and could have been slightly deformed when loading. The wind was erratic pushing the pellets left and right and the rifle wasn't locked into a rest meaning that any slight deviation in movement, even a thousandth of a millimeter over that distance could send the shot off. Remember the targets are set at 30m. A flyer can occur just the same with a PCP.
      That said thanks for watching and all the best

      @@theGunLocker you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss good advice my friend. Despite you claiming this is rubbish it is 100% an accurate statement. Classic examples of 'spinger' bounce are high shots usually to the left or right of centre line. Hence why you were getting almost split groups. Rather than being defensive and instantly dismissing something as rubbish you should try it before making judgement. 14 years as a small arms instructor and a good number on the British Army Shooting Team experience here, plus 40 years plus airgunning. Just saying my friend, people aren't here to put you down they're here giving you friendly advice to help you shoot even better 👍👍👍

      No it's not my friend. If the hold is consistent, the results will be consistent. Too many other factors to consider. And if it's peacocking that we're doing...I've shot against top BA guys at Bisley many moons ago and won or more than one occasion. Mind you that was with my Tikka M5. Also shot against 360 contestants from all over the globe at the same venue and came 8th...that the was very first tournament I was entered into. Didn't even know it was happening until my good friend Graham told me he'd entered me into it!

      @@theGunLocker all good my friend. We will have to agree to disagree. A piston slamming inside the cylinder rested on a hard surface will produce inconsistent results. No peacocking at all my friend, just stating I am an experienced shooter. Tikkas are an outstanding rifle, I use a .243 quite often. But back to the point I'll put my money were my mouth is and post up a video on my channel tomorrow demonstrating what I'm saying. I'll use a HW77K but shoot at 50metres 👍👍

    Weihrauch has always been my favorite and will always be. The HW100/110 and AirArms 400 seies are in my opinion the best full stock PCP's on the market. I own also almost all HW springer modells and that's for a reason. The Hades pellets are always a bit less accurate so i think the Walther LGV deserve a new chance with normal domed JSB Jumbo pellets. The China made Warhawk comes not even close to any HW springer. Just the cocking noise tells me enough.. Thanks for showing mate, enjoyed every second. 👍

    • @theGunLocker
      @theGunLocker  10 місяців тому

      I have to agree with your comments about Weihrauchs, although I'm not a fan of the HW110. Found it annoying when loading and its balance wasn't the same as the HW100 which in my mind is far superior. It seems to be the case now that manufacturers feel the need to try an improve something that is already working perfectly...why? Does that mean that everything we value as great today will be defunct tomorrow? All the best and thanks for watching.

    • @jimmynich4791
      @jimmynich4791 9 місяців тому

      I had an LGV and couldn't miss with it, if it's not producing the goods it's definitely not the gun. Should just get JSB exacts and it'll be grouping really tight. To be honest I think all airguns are accurate just some are easier to be consistent with. I was getting good groups with my girlfriend's Gamo Barricade but it kicked like a mule and was just horrible to shoot really, don't know why Americans rate Gamo, they make some nice pistols but all their air rifles I've tried have just been horrible.

    I'm no one to point the finger. That was a great watch and I see someone has mentioned keeping hold of the underlever.
    If it were me, I would have rested the rifle on my hand, then the gun rest. If you do an unrested shot, you could well find your accuracy alters. It's all part of the rules of artillary hold, essential with spring air rifles.

    I will put my HW 77 long (un-modified) up against ANY springer out there! Including that Walther.
    In my honest opinion, the HW 77 in high wind outshot the Walther LGV in calm conditions. The video was very well done, but I respectively disagree with the rating, given the different circumstances. I'm single hole 5 for 5 at 25 yds. I'll chose the underlever over a break barrel every time!

The one with the Titan spring is very difficult to shoot and i will swap that spring again. 16 ft-lbs is more than enough power, accurate and good to handle. The sweet spot for a HW97. How can you have a top 5 pcp’s and top 3 springer and not have Air Arms in either? The Air Arms S400 is way better than any Kral, and as for Walther being better than the TX200 or even the prosport that’s a joke. Yes Air Arms rifle are expensive but they are way better than Walther. Only thing I can agree on is the fact Weihrauch is in both list as it rightly should be. On another note it’s not a fair comparison when testing different calibres, you should test either all .177 or all .22 especially when it comes to the springers.

But Anschutz alone cost more than those 5 scrap Turkish and Chinese airguns 😆 HW100 is good, but definitely not one of the best. Remington springer is low quality Chinese airgun, HW77 is designed to shot with open sights and proper version of this rifle with cheekpiece designed for the scope is HW97. As a long time user of an LGV competition ultra, I have to agree though I would recommend AA Diablo Field 8.4 as the pellets. This combo can put pellet on pellet at 50 m and have used it many times to shame the accuracy of PCPs.

    What scope did you have fitted to the Kral Jumbo?

      Hi @Slufnyt1, sorry for the late reply...it's my Centre Point 4-16 X 50. Nothing special but does the job. I like the reticle and the glass is clear. All the best and Happy New Year to you.

      @theGunLocker thankyou for the reply. I've just bought my son the kral, it is pre-owned. However he can't see the cross as its too faint, and when we went to change the battery on the illumination, the cap won't go back on due to the ridiculously fine threads being cross threaded. So looking at an alternative sight option. The current one is hawke eclipse sf 4-16x50... what would your suggestion be for reasonable quality scope for indoor target practice?

    The LGV is a great rifle one of my favourites along with the HW95 &97 as well as the Tx200 and prosport, but for an experienced shooter I was concerned to see you take the safety off while the rifles were pointed skywards, then settling down to take your shot, surely you should have your sight picture before you take the safety off, and as others have said, you will get less flyer's if you support the rifle in your hand, it reduces springer bounce immensely.

    • @theGunLocker
      @theGunLocker  9 місяців тому

      Hi @jasoncurtis-cookiedude8540...totally accept your point about safety and for my next videos will make a point of doing it by the book so I do not adversely influence a newbie! Have to admit and I've made this same point on another similar comment. My nearest neighbour in the direction I'm shooting is over one and half miles away and the land behind the target, the paddock is mine, so even if I was to accidentally discharge the air rifle at 45 degrees, the pellet wouldn't escape my property.
      Regards springer bounce, I've answered that in my latest video.
      All the best and apologies for the late reply.
