Thankyou Kate for putting imperial and metric measurements up on the screen. UA-camrs who keep putting bike height in metric and personal height in imperial, then tank size in litres and fuel consumption in miles per gallon. Please continue to put both on the screen and try to keep everyone happy. Ian at bigrockmoto does the same,
On many bikes over long distances I’ve ridden for over 50 years; at 71 I still own four decent motorcycles. However, during those 50 years I’ve wasted way too much time longing for bikes I didn’t own. Looking back, I wish I’d been more appreciative of the simple joy of riding . . . anything. This GS reminds me to appreciate that sentiment - thanks BMW!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video Kate. The quality and detail of your uploads are second to none 👍🏻😎
Oh mannn 🥲 thanks dude 🥰
Good review, Kate. I wouldn't worry too much about the weather: I think if people are buying an adventure bike they probably want an all weather bike that handles everything so seeing it run in the wet & on crappy roads is better than seeing how it is in ideal circumstances. It's a great looking bike.
I had a look at the price for that bike where I live and it was a whopping 32000 euro (28000 GBP). I think I’ll keep my R1250RT for a while!
Bought my S1000RR from Kate. So good to see her doing well 👍
Ah thanks man! Do you still have it? Or have you changed it? 😊
@@UsernameKate I took it all over Europe and also the NC500 before I sold it. Currently contemplating another one or a GS which I know is a weird cross shop. I’m sure was one of your last customers at BMW.
Wow! Yours is the first full-time UA-cam channel I’ve seen with a ride review of the new bike. The color way and Option 719 components look great. Also, you’re the first to mention the GPS set-up. The official release video made it sound as though they went with the phone mount. I’m very glad they kept the Navigator platform (due for a version VII). That is much handier than the phone-only versions, and of course the full integration with the bike is a plus. The weather conditions were bad for you but give viewers a sense of how the bike behaves on dodgy road surfaces. I wonder if the Option 719 valve covers alter or increase the perceived engine noise. I also wonder if there are shortcuts for frequently used or last used menu functions, such as for the heated grips and seats.
She’s a really noisy boxer engine, my test ride was with standard heads, and I was taken back how much noisier it was over the 1250 motor.
Honestly the best detailed review of this bike , too good
Thank you so much for this video …. This is exactly what I was looking for and no did it better than you
Very useful, thanks again 🌷
I am still living vicariously thru ur camera Kate
First the Rocket 3R
Now this BadGirl…very nice.
Way outta my league
Thanks so much for taking me along thru ur camera
Quite fun!
Side stand is probably a compromise to accommodate the stop and drop suspension option.
Kate, as per normal, you're in depth review is always spot on. You probably give the most information, more than any other you tuber, so keep it up. Really appreciated the way you showed what a short arse like me looks like on the bike 🤣
Keep up the great work Kate 👌🏻
Appreciate your comment Tommy!
Brilliant review Kate. I do much prefer it when you do the walk around and test in one video like this. Just watched this back to back with the 44teeth video of this bike which was also good but I think you were riding completely different bikes 😂 Never liked the GS before but really like the look of this one but when you say noisy is that engine and wind noise from the screen or just engine noise? Please keep this format up 🤞
A very detailed review, thank you Kate! Appreciate all the hard work you do for these videos, including braving the rain!
I appreciate you!! I have to brave the rain else I'd never be able to film anything 🤣
I shouldn’t but I always find it crazy seeing my local roads on UA-cam videos (you went past my house when riding through Hawarden). HJ are now my local dealer since the one near the Oaks gave up the Franchise.
Good review of the bike. There are things I like and dislike about this new model from the deluge of reviews I am now seeing on YT. I currently ride a 2019 GSA 1250 so I am waiting for the new GSA to be released as that’s the model I am more interested in - prefer the bigger tank and generally bigger bike.
Stay safe and good luck on the vlogging.
Also, 20mph is an absolute kill joy in Wales now. Hate riding around here these days and spoken to loads of people who simply go elsewhere now so the economy and local businesses are going to suffer (probably more noticeable from summer next year). Cheers Sennedd, full of great decisions!
Is it my speakers, or does it still sound like a bag of spanners? I dumped by 2016 GS because the mechanical racket offended my mechanical sensibilities.
Hi Kate, went to my BMW agent in Linköping Sweden Kate, definitely lighter and narrower due to a shorter stroke, plus gearbox underneath engine so No noisey clunk from 1st to 2nd. I will stick with my 1250, but I ts definitely well finished and well specked.Good blog Kate👍😄🇸🇪
Those conditions show us the best behaviour in the worst situations. So I'd say the best weather for a road test. Thank you.
Thank you 😊
Nice one Kate, I’ve just bought the triple black👍😀🏍️
Hope you enjoy it!
I'm at work so I can't finish this video now. But so far so interesting. Thanks!
Nice jacket by the way. :)
Hello stranger..
I was particularly interested in your opinion of this bike.
Quite possibly more so than anyone else’s.
You’ve got such a good pedigree, from your Dad having one, your own personal ownership and your ability to unpackage everything having sold them at a main dealer.
I guess you could say, you’ve got more skin in the game than anyone else.
So good for you!
Hey Smokey. Wanneer heb je die middensteun hulp? Is dat als je de esa vering hebt? Of alleen met de dynamische vering? Gr. Gino.
Great review! BMW should make an R850 GS where they focus on low weight (under 190kg wet) and low seat height 790/810mm, a maximum of 48 BHP, and a pricetag below 10k
A smaller GS would be a massive seller. For me these massive bikes detract from what motorcycling is - the freedom to go anywhere.
This is such a great video, thanks, love.
Thanks Kate. One good thing about the rad, is that it's set high up, out of the path of most debris. Your right though, rads guards are still a good idea, and to my taste, they look good as well. The angle of the bike on the side stand, is possibly related to the optional suspension lowering feature - ensuring that when it's in play the bike isn't sitting too upright and easily knocked or blown over. Its slimmed down look, has really grown on me. I think when you get a go in the dry, I'll be hearing you trying to find a way to have one in your garage fulltime 😀.
The electrically adjustable windscreen is a nice addition from previous models... one other thing many people were wishing for was the controls to be illuminated, so you can see the controls a bit better at night... have they done this with this model...?
Also, be careful, esp. in wet weather, riding right in the middle of the lane... that is where all the oil drops off cars and lorries and settles in, just waiting for a new motorbike with fresh tyres...
It seems to be an English thing, but please refer to the road as the road, or the ground... floors are in buildings... e.g. a garage floor, or a wooden floor...
Hi Kate, i test rode a Endro Trophy spec today and agree about the stand. I kept thinking it was not down as the bike leaned so much. I didnt like the Trophy spec due to the seat and off road tyres but have an order in for the 719 spec. I found the gear change much smoother than my current 1250.
Impressive review. You have showed all the nitty gritty details. 👍Please perform the first ride review of the 900gs adventure too once its available🙏
Great review as always Kate thanks...very curious as to the new screen. Better wind protection etc?
I need to book a test ride! I was always daunted at the height of the GS but I'd add the electronics to bring it down, as well as reduced height seat. I like my feet flat. Upmost respect to you for coping and making it look easy without. Seems a really decent machine! Beans on toast for me for most of 2024 😂 I feel an expensive purchase on the horizon. Ps ..love your content. 🫶
I’m 5’8” and bought a used one with lowered chassis. My old CBR600rr felt bigger and heavier….you’d be surprised. I love this bike!!!
Great video! That is a gorgeous bike for sure. I love the clean lines. When I bought my '22 GS the engine was loud as well. After the run in it got much quieter and now she just purr's. The question is " would you trade Kiddo" ? Best!
Kudos for being one of the very first to ride one! Best!
That colour and new styling just looks the nuts in my opinion
Kate great review again. Out of the bunch of Vloggers i follow you are by far the best. You are very confident riding bikes. Maybe one day we will meet up !😂 have a safe day.
Cheers Andy!
Well done for braving that weather. The only proper real world ride for the 1300 gs
I tried the Thropy. Awesome bike. But what I don't like so much is all the weird packs. It should have been just a list of stuff you tick off. So you could have any color and any equipment. Maybe a discount % when you pick several tings on the list. I find it difficult to spec it exactly like I want.
I also don't like that there is no brake light.
The turn signals on the 1250 is pretty horrible, so incorporating brake lights into similar horrible lights is a hazard.
Great review Kate...on point...your research is to the point and saves all the BS...but still like my GSA 1250.
Glad it was helpful!
That’s more like it Kate , excellent vlog ❤
Thank youuuu
I'm starting to think that ordering a 1250 GSA was a mistake, there's very few negatives about the new 1300 so far... But when I specced one up it was over £3K more than I'm paying for a GSA Rallye with the free panniers and inner bags, heated seats and black spoked wheels.
Great review Kate, my neighbour was telling me that after watching your review and Lambchops he tested one, and immediately traded his S1000XR in against one.
I love your reviews, very comprehensive and perfect!
Thank you very much!
Well done Kate. I'm looking forward to a second ride review with better weather.
You and me both 😁
Great first impressions video Kate, you may have convinced me to try one…
You need to!!! 🥰
Looks great, very smart of BMW to focus more on attracting new customers than appeasing the old ones. The tears for the outgoing headlight will dry eventually.......😢😂
Everyone moaned about the wonky headlight, now they are moaning it's going. It was good originally for performance not aesthetics. The dipped headlight is used more often so they made it bigger. And the main beam smaller. It would mean 75% 25% so instead of 50% dipped 100% both you get 75% dipped 100% both when LED came about it wasn't really needed.
Yoink! 😅 Good stuff thank you. Bummer about the weather.
Weather always sucks!
Lovely 'real world' review again Kate. Just one question. Did you feel the seat to peg distance is less than the 1200 and the 1250? I love the look of the 1300, especially in that colour scheme.
I didn't feel anything noticeable but then again, I haven't ridden a 1250 in a while. I'd like to take them out back to back which is a future plan 😊
Excellent review as always! Not a fan of the keyless crap but its a certain winner and will fly off the shelf
Is that loudness due to those exhausts ? I like quietness for touring 😊
I'd need to trial one with a standard can for comparison
You are the first UA-camr I found that got to ride the top configuration package. 😀. The fact it doesn't bring all commonly sought out accessories is a sad surprise. To add all on top of the almost $4k package you are ridding just confirms this is definitely not a bike for everyone. You also made comments not mentioned in other channels (engine noise, etc). Thanks a lot. Note: It would be great if you could review the 2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure with low seat.
it looks much better than the old ones to me
Looking forward to you trying the new Guzzi Stelvio looks to have a great characterful engine and a bit less tec. Hopefully you get it soon.
I'd love to get my mitts on it!
Nice review Kate. Do you know if it’s an easy task to move your Datatool S5 from your R1250 to a 1300 GS?
I would ring Datatool for some advice on that one just to be safe!
Excellent video Kate despite the weather for ducks.....the bike looks amazing and the changes are definitely an improvement. Once you got a dry patch at the end I thought you gelled with the bike more. Can't wait for better days for you 🙏👏👏👏
Great review Kate ,shame about the weather but I liked to know why BMW have done away with a normal backlight on this bike why?
It's not new for this year, they made the change about 2 years ago from memory. A lot of people in the UK complained about it but the Europeans didn't complain about it so it looks like they've kept the set up for the 1300
Can not wait until you review the F900 gs and the f800 gs ! Great review! Thank you for sharing
The nav preparation is for their new BMW-developed unit. Great video, thanks!
Interesting!!
@@UsernameKate I think we still need to reach the state-of-the-art motorcycle nav. I've used Garmin units for a while, but they must catch up to Android software. CarPlay/Android Auto is not the solution for motorcycles, either. We'll see!
Thanks Kate. My partner loves the Knox jacket you are wearing. Which one is it please?
The power output is very smooth and you feel confident riding it.
I test ride this very same bike today. I was a bit nervous at first but soon improved and returned it in one piece. I normally ride a Honda CB125F.
What did you think Gareth?
@@UsernameKateEnjoyed my 1 hour plus test ride. Gears felt clunky to me not as smooth as my little Honda.
This GS has a much higher centre of gravity compared to older models because they were forced to lift the engine up in order to have enough clearance for the engine heads scraping the tarmac in the turns due to the engine noticeable width increase.
What a great review, really enjoyed it. Really useful information and appreciate the detail. Well done, loved it👍
Great vid, again Kate. The bike look`s a little better now than the first time I saw it, still unsure if it is what bmw wants it to be, we will se. The best about your reviews is that you are always positive. Keep up the great work!
Cylinder heads are thinner to save on weight, so they let more noise from the engine out
Great review as always. Loads of relevant detail. 👏🏾
Much appreciated! 😊
lets go amazing review as always keep up the super content 🦾🦾
Reaperrrr thanks my guyyyy
Loved your review Kate, great job
Thank you! 😊
Is there much difference between the 1250 and the 1300 is it worth upgrading
The loud engine is abit off putting
It looks lovely in green
It probably isn’t worth upgrading, but people will because they have to have the latest model.
I saw the Gs today and the dealer said there is also possibility for a low seat. Great video by the way ✌️
Just ordered one! 3 seat height options (H,M,L) plus auto height adjustment that lowers bike as you slow (hence sidestand lean I reckon)
Great review lovely bike even though I’ll never be able to afford one be on my gsx8s for a while
This has filmed on my local roads I think but you seemed to be near me then in new Brighton then back in north wales keep up the good work 👍
Appreciate that! And ahh the GSX8S is a cracking bike, are you enjoying it?
Been out biking for 15 years my wife gave me permission to get a new bike 4 weeks after buying 2 year old car if she’d suggested a bike 2 months earlier I’d never have paid 20 k on a car
But she’s decided to do her cbt as well she’s booked for 26 November
Rich man bike .. that’s all
Prices are madness 😂😂 they can keep it ! Thanks
Sorry, I don't like it, I'll stick to my 1250GS. If I were buying my first GS now I'd go for the 1200 or 1250, there are some good deals at the moment...for obvious reasons. Shame they didn't do the illuminated switchgear... Why does it remind me of the Honda NC750? Nice video.
Cheers Mike!!
There is a low seat option that is 20mm lower than standard. Adaptive ride height, according to the Missenden Flyer, drops it to 820. So 800 with low seat and adaptive ride height.
yup!
A great vlog Kate. The bike looks really good, will be interested when I can actually see one
Well if they've designed it to a younger audience all I can say is the younger generation are welcome to it because I'll be sticking to my old one.
@jackdp87🤣🤣Thanks for reminding me of my mortality lol I've hopefully got a few years riding left but I'm not remotely interested in more power and torque. I understand that they have to attract younger buyers and that's great but I think a lot of older riders will either keep their existing bikes or trade for the best 1250 they can find to see them out so I hope they do get enough younger buyers with £20k to spare who don't want a Ducati or a KTM
I am not that young and the fact this weights less than my 1250gs and is easier to maneuver, more nimble etc it certainly makes me interested. Couldn't care less about the power but everything else? Big yes.
It looks a nice bike, lots of features some needed and some for the sake of it (electric screen, who ever wanted that?).
For me and it is a personal thing, I expected more and some how it’s less than the 1250. I can’t explain as it’s an emotional opinion but I see a 1200 or 1250 and I see a GS, I see this and I see a motorbike.
I know we will all get used to it, and if we have deep pockets end up riding one, but to be honest I am a bit “meh” about it.
Maybe just maybe they have saved the wow factor for the adventure/1400, I really hope so.
“”It’s a day fit for ducks” made me laugh out loud, love your channel Kate.
I’m an older rider, and I’m right up for it! I’ll be changing up in a year or three, from my, triple black
great vlog Kate, but we all no gb is not a place really ta go biking , but we all do.o😁
Recently I bought my first 'beemer', after riding this and the old one. Not knowing what to expect from either I was very impressed, however after riding both back to back it bacame quite evident to me that one had noticably more whine and felt significantly more tiring to ride. Outright speed and pinpoint handling are not their specialities (that's why I have my KTM), but the 1250 just felt more of an accomplished bike. I can see why BMW are doing it (to keep up with the competition and to gain a younger audience), but to me the new one isn't a GS to me, more of a sports/tourer crossover. Happy with choosing a late model low miles 1250GSA and in the long run was the best decision for me.
The styling is top notch, a bit like a Cheetah with a huge powerful chest, in fact, just like the Triumph Tiger 1050 Sport ! Big presence up front, but in my view the triple sounds better…
Great review Kate.... Awesome bike would absolutely love it... 👍🏻
Thanks! 😊
Hi Kate
Could the increased noise level you’re experiencing be due to the cylinder heads being higher up, than on the earlier 1200 and 1250 ?
How's the high / low beam compared to 1250?
Excellent video💥! I'm eagerly looking forward to your in-depth review. Just one query Kate: could you kindly provide some clarification on whether there's a noticeable change in the riding posture, possibly leaning towards a more sporty stance with more bent knees? This adjustment could potentially be less accommodating for taller riders or during long journeys, which would be regrettable considering the previous GS was renowned for its superb and comfortable seating position. Keep up the fantastic content!
I would say the riding position felt the same to me and with a comfort seat, I did 100 miles and it felt like I could tackle 400 more!
Beautiful videos friend 😊♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👌👌👌👌🙏🙏🍫🍫🍫🍫👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹i have same hight 5"4, i hope I can ride this beautiful bike
Thank you so much 😊
I admire your job and your efford , very proffecional.
Thanks Anton! I appreciate that!
which chin camera mount do you use.. great review as mine arrives in two weeks in that spec
I use 'Ride Tech' but 'Chin Mount' is good too (they're both the company names)
Hi Kate, nice review. Co-incidentally I noticed that ur left thigh looks bulkier than the right. Any difference in the use due to any weakness on one side or something?
jeez, what a way to give a girl a complex LOL it's the angle, I'm twisting my body whilst my feet face forward.
@@UsernameKate😂😂😂
Great video & review! Nice Knox gear too 👍
Will be on my list after the Lottery win so think ill stick with my 1200. Good review best ive seen yet TBH
That color combination looks 🤩
I was really looking forward to your review, great 👍 . Though I was hesitant in the 1st 24 hours that it was announced, it is growing on me. It'll be a stable mate for my R1200c. Had a sit on it a couple of weeks back and agree, the seat hight is a problem for me, so the active height thingy and a low seat would be the route I'd go. So, a test ride is next for me. Love your content 😎
I appreciate you! Thanks for commenting!
I'm sure this will be another benchmark in BMW technical expertise and no doubt other manufacturers will continue to follow suit with intelligent adaptive electronics, radar etc. etc. but for all the benefits this can bring, I think it can be quite intrusive and detract from the fundamental experience of riding a motorcycle. I'm no luddite when it comes to tech, but to use an analogy, there's something indiscernibly 'better' about reading a book, compared to a Kindle, or reading online. Great bikes of the past were based on the right combination of chassis dynamics, suspension and engine characteristics which the rider would learn to exploit to the best of their abilities; I'm not convinced you can get that same 'connection' with the very latest tech-laden machines, even though they represent a significant leap in engineering terms. Each to their own, I guess.
Valid points Billy!
Hi Kate, a good review, got to be honest I love it, the only detail you didn't mention is the quick shifter, it has been said it's a real improvement on the old one ,in it's smoother shifts. For me I'm waiting for the ADV, don't suppose you have any information, it's said it could be another 12 months. Hopefully next you can get a go on one with the adaptive height, that would have made such a difference to you, and how lucky are you with the weather. Thanks' Kate.
With the side stand issue, would it not help if you turned the bike to right full lock or wouldn't that work?
My guess is that the sidestand is that length so that it still works properly with the optional auto suspension lowering (30mm). 🤔
Amazing content as usual!!
Apple type car play would have been better than the nav6 ,I’m on my 3rd nav6. Won’t refund me just keep exchanging it when it goes mental. Is there going to be a bigger tank version?
Good review, the first person to explain Adaptive height is an expensive option even on the tramuntana
Thanks! 👍
Phew, so glad it has a centre stand. At £22,560 I thought you were going to say it was an optional extra!
How dangerous is riding in the rain. Would anyone advise it?
I see you raided the 'Knox toy box! Lol. Such a shame about the weather being crap, hopefully you will get another review out when/if the weather improves. I'm having a go on one on Friday morning, no doubt I'll be fighting with my consience after the ride🤔.
OMG you passed my house.
that monster puddle at 10:40 was around 2 feet deep the day before (Friday) it was utter chaos around the areas you rode.
Assuming that is Saturday - that was the day i collect my new 765 RS (Yellow thanks to you)
Thanks for a great review, really informative.
Thanks for watching!
Love the colour scheme and flow of them on this bike, and it looks slender and well, I suppose good, as far as BMWs go. What I could never get my head around, is all those electronics..., that is all superficial, too much of a good thing, and look at all those riding minutes you lost, stood still playing with them all !!
Call me oldschool if you want, but I like to ride with a supple wrist, that is where my Bike Control Centre ist!
I know you're a Beemer girl at heart but I have trouble with them, and even more with KTM. Give me a Suzi or Triumph any day.
What I do like and admire extremely, is your sound knowledge of the bike in hand, your lighthearted and witty way of presenting the featured bike, not forgetting your fantastic accent..., those are the reasons for staying and coming back for each new upload. Thanks for the entertainment, education and all your work you put in to keep all 64 and a half thousand Subs happy. Look forward to seeing you on the new Honda Transalp one day soon. Greets from Steve, Switzerland.
If comfort seats are an option are BMW saying the standard seats are uncomfortable? My 2016 1200 adventure as the most uncomfortable seat i have ever had, because the seat is angled at the back it pulls your trousers tight around the old Crown Jewels you wont understand its that uncomfortable on a long run Ive considered going trans and getting my junk removed just to be able to enjoy a road trip with the lads.
Love the green color, despise the gold.... Bit of a dreambike if I could do away with the gold. Thank you for showing it off Kate.
You can spec it with whatever wheels you want.
