    • @TheBioDudeJoshHalter
      @TheBioDudeJoshHalter  Рік тому

      The awesome thing about utilizing our products, is it's a one and done deal and you wont have to replace it! We have enclosures that have been up for 10+ years same substrate and everything! When creating a Bioactive enclosure it replicates a real life ecosystem so it is completely self sustaining once it's established and maintained appropriately.

    A sphagnum layer is a method nobody really uses anymore. It inhibits the breakdown of leaves it kind of ruins the whole bioactive process. The leaves will just matt on top of the sphagnum moss and not be able to break down into the substrate.
    Having the leaves on top of the substrate is best. The only reason why people used a sphagnum later was for humidity purposes however they figured out they can do the same by keeping a water table in the bottom of the tank and misting period when people stop using a sphagnum layer they didn't see any issues in humidity.
    By the end of the video you have the set up so packed with plants that you are reducing the overall usable space for the frogs to the extent that this tank is too small. Over planting a tank doesn't give any room for things to grow in.
    I'm sure you're going to comment below being rude you are actually garnering quite the reputation for being rude and we have so many people coming into our Facebook groups following your methods and we have to help educate them and they get aggravated because they spent a lot of money with you only to find out that things aren't being done correctly.

      You have no idea how relieved I am to see this comment. I clicked this vid bc I just started my first biobuild for milks and wanted some layout ideas, but did he seriously just justify a no uvb stance by saying they’re floor dwellers? Whatever your (proverbial) thoughts are on uvb as a whole aside, milk frogs are literally arboreal… I immediately shuttered at how much misinformation is being spread to such a large following, so definitely not surprised to read about your FB group.

    My aunt had a group of cuban tree frogs living in the bushes next to her pool.I always wondered how they came to live there.I liked them, but I never kept any as a pet. Sometimes they would end up getting over to her wooden deck and under the door to her kitchen and she would hear them calling so she would have me come find them and get them back outside.

    I love the biodude!! You really have something going here! I love your business, work ethic & personality in all your videos! You make me want to watch all of them! I originally got into the reptile/amphibian world by building my chameleon enclosure. I went bioactive & have increased my already huge plant collection throughout my house. Now, I was just given an old hutch to refurbish (another hobby of mine) & I have a 30 or 40 gallon tank just sitting in my basement so I’m super interested in hopefully installing that tank into the hutch. It fits perfectly length & width but some adjustments have to be made with height since one of the shelves is to low & needs to be removed. But I’m really interested in making a beautiful bioactive vivarium for some dart frogs! So any recommendations on videos I should focus on &/or advice you can give me on accomplishing this would be ultra appreciated. I know theres a lot of info but if you would pick the top 2 or 3 mistakes / problems / advice people come across building this type of vivarium would be so helpful. I’m literally just starting my research. Thanks for any advice you can give me! I’m sure I’ll be purchasing a lot from you during this process. 🤙🌺

      They are technically toxic (some nice their digestive system is made for bugs) so should only be fed like once a year. but it can be a nice treat and many breeders feed one to get some extra boost for breeding. You mostly have to worry about bones and impaction.
      Overall wouldn’t recommend

    • @romanoreo
      @romanoreo 4 роки тому +1

      green tree frog and barking tree frog are native to midwest America so you don't need really anything fancy. Anything in the low to mid 70s should be good and they can go up to low 80s and down to mid 60s but not recommended. If your place goes out of these ranges then you may need a heat bulb. Usually just an LED or UVB bulb for plants is used for these types of frogs :)
