The Fian Champion is like the john wick of this game. Shoots from afar with deadly arrows and pulls out sword fighting skills at close range.

@@knightfraortis Cavs are stronger than infantry. In my opinion, if the unit is used properly, the strongest unit is the khuzait khan's guard with their Glaive than can one-hit any unit and the ability for long range skirmish.
@@harrytan5579 yes, but the Khuzait guards are very weak in fortress siege and fortress defense battles. but Battania Fiyan champions dominate every battlefield
@@knightfraortis I won't say they are super weak, after all they are still decent archer with very high armor and a decent melee ability.
But I do agree that Fiann champion delivers a lot more value on sieges.
I still prefer the vlandian sharpshooters. I prefer the extended range of the crossbow units. Not a huge fan of 2handed units so it helps that the sharpshooters turn into essentially t4 heavy infantry once out of ammo
Everyone uses Sturgia wrong lol.
The whole point of Sturgian infantry is the Shield Wall formation. 3 men deep or more preferably, stops Cav charges and destroys any infantry.
I've won battles against enemies twice the number while using no cav at all.
Its a defensive army. Set up near the reinforcement line with a shield wall and let them come to you.

Yeah i went through one day and tested it myself. Heavy axe sturgians demolished all other infantry.
Just sucks they are so far away, i end up with imperials (who were easily the second best) because i dont want to spend 20 mins going across the map to get 5 troops
Put them in a square and archers either side, the infantry holds and takes little damage while archers hit enemy from behind as they attack square
Yup then use the cav to run down the archers. Sturgia is useless with F1 F3 and forget.
how do u counter horse cav spam?
i appreciate the time it took to edit and set up. i think it shows the ai react differently as well but the problem with a "best" is that the troops and factions are very situational so it varies. i think the green boy would have lasted another round on flat ground for example but not at all vs some horse boys
yes, I agree with you, I made a statement about this topic in the video. but people didn't notice it because I made the explanation towards the end of the video. infantry's strength and skills vary depending on the type of battle and the type of opposing army

I think the legionary had a harder time with the recruits because of the mace they use, since blunt damage is better used on heavy armor.

The way which troop was determined to be better was not a very good way of testing. One vs 2,3,4,5,6 is not the best way to determine which troop is better, as most of the time the infantry will be in large groups of around at least 100 infantryman in either line, shield wall or square formation. Next time you test infantry you should do this instead.

The Battanians have the most well rounded troops in the game I think, especially the Fian Champion. Guys can snipe troops way before they get close, and then when they're close enough, big sword time. Of course, Khuzait mounted archers are the strongest in the game. I regularly beat armies x3 my size with only 60 men

A warband of 200 khuzait can beat 2000 aserai. It's crazy
Yes,but you will need a really good mix of wildlings and oathsworn if you want to do well with local infantry.Either shoot up sturgians or hire some skolderbroda to solve that problem

Bad comparison man why choose the Sturgian with Spear when they have the best infantry in the Heavy axeman? Same shield but he has throwing javelins plus a better melee weapon when fighting infantry?
hello i am making another video for ax wielding infantry. I compared infantry with the same rank in the training tree
Personally, I prefer the Sturgian heavy spearmen:
- they have the best armor in the faction's military lineup (in fact, it seems like their chest armor is even better than that of druzhinnik - I don’t remember it from memory, but I can’t check it now);
- they have both swords with high attack speed (which still do good damage and have a good length) and axes;
- they cope equally well with both infantry and cavalry. Especially in the construction of a square (I hope it will be repaired back) or shield walls;
- They don't have the problem of switching between ranged and melee weapons (when any unit with a thrown weapon is slow to change weapons when an enemy approaches and usually takes 1-2 hits before finally deciding to change weapons).
Actually the spearman are the superior infantry atleast in terms of a meat shield for sturgia. Axemen don't have shoulders and the throwing axes don't make up for that in a heavy shield infantry fight. Besides I have archers or crossbow men to do ranged damage. I need my boys soaking not taking unnecessary fire trying to squeeze in a 15 damage throwing axe
Macemans lacks a lot of range,hence why Vlandian Sergeant got out of the fight too early.They packs quite a punch and could crush everything but only if used in good range

Bro. Vlandia the best in cavalry and infatry. Vlandians should be used in an advance command with small line lenght shield wall formation. 2 lines deep max.
I don't know if Heavy Spearman or Heavy Axemen is better.The first one has 140 one handed,which is literally a buffed up legionary.The second one has throwing weapons,which is a balanced infantry

Your Imperial Legionary is armed with a mace, not a sword which seems to be an oversight. The A.I. need reach. He is at a massive disadvantage.

Fians is all you need, they cut cavalry charges, they clear other archers, they delete waves of infantry then they cleave through with the Highlander 2h broadsword. 80 fians will steamroll calradia.

Sturgia infantry are unaffected by archers' attack
@@knightfraortis 60 arrows an archer, those shields will be rendered useless when the fian sword cracks it wide open then cleaves ranks away. the shields will have little to no hp after 30 arrows are in it.

Legionaries are the best cuz of big shields and armor. I use my inf mostly as a shield wall while my ranged and cav do the most killing. 2handed inf are good vs other inf, but they get anihilated by archers
I love using sturgian linebreakers and rushing down the enemy infantry they definitely stay true to their name
just use your 2handers as shock troops and deploy them right behind your inf wall B), but dont get too much get like 10-20 depending on army size and they'll clean house too
My elite cataphracts destroying every unit in the game even when outnumbered. Only down side on them is that they cost the most I think cause for 100 cataphracts you need to pay at least 10k (apart from the costs of the horses)

These are far from the most powerful infantry since you are not including the more powerful infantry type: shock infantry.
The testing method is also questionable since you rarely see units fight one on one and can be heavily influenced by random rolls. 30 v 30 is a more accurate size( more entertaining and easier to see the "health bar" as well).

not a great comparison video as there are tons of variables not taken into account:
The recruits will have a random chance to stagger depending on their damage and will be more likely to stagger with two handen non-spear weapons. every test had random recruits whihc meant that some had a much easier time shrugging off damage and not getting staggered.
The initial test where not done multiple times to find a reliable pattern or statistic, all just one and done.
the second tests where only done 3 times, which is typically not enough to establish a pattern.
the terrain was not the same on all fights.
Yes it is true but the video would be too long. I tested it multiple times but the result was generally the same
Vlandia and Empire has best overal military. Easiest is Empire because they got three factions and most time they are fighting everyone else and you can recruit same units in all three empire factions.
yes it is a good kingdom to start but after the middle game the Vlandian army is getting weaker and weaker. In the late game, I usually prefer to use an army of Battania Fiyan champions and Khuzait mounted archers.

@@knightfraortis Referring to the game creators themselves, not you bud. The battles in the game are so fast. We read in history about hours of fighting, these are over in 1 minute in many cases, in my experience as well as what I see online
@@justinius2170 yes, but the armies are very small here. The wars you mentioned are wars where at least 10 thousand people fought. though, the game is lacking in this regard, on the battlefield everything ends very quickly and very quickly
@@knightfraortis Realistic Battle Mod my friend.
@@justinius2170 there's a couple mods that can help with this, HP from Level (each levels gives hp for everybody), Improved Combat AI (the AI is more skilled and makes elites soldiers better fighters), Realistic Battle Mod (use the AI module, the combat module sucks), Battle Regeneration (put the health regen at 0.05 because it's 1 by default and it's too fast).
I use all of them and the battles are so much better and longer it's not even close. I hope this helps.

Heavy Axeman used to be jav inf, but it was nerfed down to throwing axes + armour nerf.

@@knightfraortis Under certain circumstances they can, which ist really astonishing for t4 units, test it! In general, two-handers became significantly better against shield infantry.
