Haven't seen this compilation in years. 4:55 This choke slam is as real as a choke slam gets!

Not all of these tackles were good or legal in the game and some will have resulted in cards. The main rules to protect the players are: the tackler must not make contact with the opponent's head and neck, the tackler must not tackle an opponent who is in the air, there must be an attempt to wrap the tackler's arms around the opponent. The tackle at 3:15 involves head contact and was dangerous - you can hear the way the commentators react.
A good tackle technique is that the tackler has bent at the waist and wraps their arms around the other player. 2:36 is an example of good tackle technique with tackler getting low and wrapping his arms.

I understand the whole loyalty thing, if this is what you grew up with. I grew up watching NFL (American) football. I read a lot of comments from rugby fans who claim that rugby is a more brutal game because the players don't wear protective gear. At these low impact speeds, the rugby players probably don't need protective gear. I've seen a few of these "Rugby's Biggest Hits" type of videos, and I wonder if perhaps I'm just not seeing the "good stuff". This one seemed pretty mild, compared to what I'm used to. If there are any of these videos that are comparable to NFL hits, like "Biggest NFL Hits Ever" (Here Comes The Boom) ua-cam.com/video/v-1MQ0Cnbhs/v-deo.html, please point me in the right direction. I'm not ragging on rugby, so don't get me wrong. But when I hear some joker saying how tough rugby is, and how American football players are too wimpy to play a tough sport like rugby, it's like having some idiot bragging about how his milk cow is faster than your champion thoroughbred. You just hope he gets back on his meds and that his therapist can help him someday. What I would love to see is for the best athletes from across the world of rugby to be cherry-picked into a team that would take on any NFL team (even the team that placed last) in a game of American football, pads and all. Then, a cherry-picked team of NFL players to play against the best rugby team from around the world in a game of rugby, with no protective gear, of course. I think that the results from both games would be a nice reality check.
