Pretty much summed up my own experience. Hardest part of my life is the choice between simulated freedom/comfort versus giving that up in order to life more "authentically" but not willing to sacrifice the comfort I have gathered for myself through considerable effort. Thank you for encapsulating that in this video. Helped me process my emotions on the subject.
I'm glad that I could do that for you. A lot of times I have to remind myself that it's not always about saying something entirely new, but focusing the subject and saying it in a way that might just push past a block in someone else's head where the idea already exists. Even if we don't say something entirely original, we can say it in an original way which is still helpful
6 years ago I gave up all creature comforts of living with my parents and started my own cleaning/gardening business in a rural holiday town. The journey has been well worth the hustle. I now have comfort, peace and quiet, money, inner happiness, and no yelling parents. Feels good man. *Learn, grow, evolve, thrive, my comrade.*
I think shows like this don't really predict much, but rather look to the past. They have an understanding of the human behavior which underlies everything to see the cycles that our behavior movies in. Every new invention or society will receive a remix of previous reactions, for better or worse
I found your videos around 9 months ago, at a time where i was at my lowest. In a confusing world of emotions your videos help me make sense of it all. It’s been a tough journey and I don’t think I would be in the place I am now without your words. Thank you for everything ❤
I'm glad that I could bring something positive. Part of this is always hoping that if I put it all out there, other people won't have to figure it out as harshly or at such lengths and exertion that I have. So, I am glad that I've been able to help with something like that, to some extent : )
Makashima is acceptance as Sybil is complacency. acceptance, and complacency, maybe twins they look and sound the how for all their similarities are only at the surface, they can't be more different at the core.. complacency leads to stagnation and entropy.. acceptance leads to understanding and change... Gods and kings should be truly pitied
I would say that gods need no pity, but the best thing about the often compared to Psycho-Pass Ergo Proxy is that it can change someone's mind on that subject, and it did for me
My lifes quote is as follows: "When life gives you lemons, laugh, and life will laugh with you." I have alot, A LOT, of issues with myself, but one thing ive always loved about myself is my ability to laugh off horrible shit. Laughter truly refreshes the spirit.
I will hear time and again how comfort is the antithesis to growth. And time and again it will make sense in my head. Yet I remain in my comforts. However, when you highlighted the point of how something is of value because of what we give up for it (to me regardless of the success of the outcome), well, that really made it stick. it had finally clicked for me, to willingly choose to live only for my comfort would ultimately mean I have little value in things. Some may not mind this necessarily. A nuanced point I'm not getting into. It's just not something or someone I want to be. So it's made something clear for me. I need to figure out truly what I value, and I need to sacrifice/grow for it. So, thank you.
I can’t say I always keep up, but I never regret tuning back in and watching your videos. You always manage to say things in a way that deeply resonates with me. I’m not too sure where my life is going to go, but I hope I won’t regret it when it hits the finish line
Thank you for the kind words, and don't worry about keeping up too much; the videos will always be here if I have any say in it. They're not something someone needs all the time, but I'm always glad they can be there when they are helpful
I haven't watched the whole video yet so this might be addressed later, but here in part 1 you say that Makashima shouldn't have wisdom due to his youth. I'd like to refute that only because Makashima is shown numerous times having deep and philosophical discussions with other characters, especially Choe Gu-Sung and Toyohisa Senguji. He openly accepts their wisdom along with the many classic books he mentions and incorporates it all into his own ideals. He can have wisdom despite his age because of the fact that he doesn't shy away from speaking on deeper subjects with people more knowledgeable than him, and his charisma that allows him to meet these wiser people in the first place.
He can have wisdom for his age because he has no responsibilities; that open mind is a core part of it, but that open mind can only be expressed because he isn't required to do what every other citizen is in work, mental care, etc. That's why I believe it makes sense for him, and not for someone like Lelouch who's constantly running about with responsibilities. I only state that because I, and likely others, always felt behind the curve because of these kinds of characters, when they're usually not realistic, or if they are, are in special situations
My favorite poem is Prayer for Loving Sorrow by Francis James I have nothing but my sorrow, and I have nothing more, it has been, it still is, faithful to me. Why should I begrudge it? Since during the hours when my soul crushed the depths of my heart, it was seated there beside me. Oh sorrow, i hand ended you see: be respecting you. Because i am certain you will never leave me. Ah! I realize it: your beauty lies in the force of your being. You are like those who never left the sad fireside corner of my poor black heart. Oh sorrow, you are better than a well beloved, because I know that in the day of my final agony, you will be there lying in my sheets, oh sorrow, so that you might once again attempt to enter my heart.
OH MY GOSH HIIII!!! I love binge watching your videos while i fight for my life on the toilet every morning. A little extra info about the poem that I think you might like is that I first heard the poem through the game Library of Ruina. The game takes place in Korean Cyberpunk and has a ton of moral philosophical questions and concepts that you are faced with as you retrieve all the light in the city like: Do those who scream at the top of their lungs "I want to die" really feel the same desire for death as those who take their life without saying a word? Do the lowest, most despicable and deprived Rats of this word deserve to be able to dream? What are the differences between sympathy, pity, and love? And woold you take a train that cold take you absolutely anywhere no matter how far in 15 seconds, only after you suffer what cold be up to 5 million years in another dimension where you cannot die or feel anything but your own thoughts only to have your memory erased and body put back together once you arrive at your destination? I really recommend the game espeically with your type of content!!
I’ve loved watching ur channel. I often listen to them in the mornings as I open the bakery. And as someone struggling right now with everything going wrong. My therapist telling me to stop trying to rush past the bad. Constantly jumping from one endorphin spike to the next, or masking that everything is great to make everyone else happy draining myself emotionally. The title alone feels like I’m being targeted lol 😂 and I honestly can’t wait to listen to this one. ❤
It's actually very sweet to hear that I'm somewhat part of a routine like that. I have so many creators who've been that for me, so to know I can be that for other is truly validating 💙
Recently discovered you channel and greatly enjoying all the deep dives. That said, when you warned that you were going to reveal what the big twist was, I guessed the twist WHILE YOU WERE WARNING ME to watch the series on my own. It's a good twist, but it's been done before and is very predictable. I think the characters are of much more importance here than the secret behind the crime monitoring system. The philosophical debate is the core, the AI is just the set dressing.
I'm just a very "blind" watcher. There are some things I do catch before they happen, some are just too obvious, but I put myself into a state of consciously not trying to predict the plot as some sort of "authors intent" nonsense haha. But thats fair, I do think it holds much the same weight knowing the twist
this video comes just in time, recently i begun work a job i dislike just bcs i couldn't got anything better but maybe changing my perspective will help me, and this piece did just that.... it's time to embrace discomfort
I think its a good consideration, but I also don't want this to be a message of settling for things which aren't good for us. Is it something which will give you better chances in the future, even if that just means sustaining you for right now? The important part is to take stock of that discomfort from time to time; is it something you dislike because it just isn't a nice, comfortable ideal, or because it's truly not right for you?

Makashima really is a good devil character. Ha., reminds me of the lucifer scene where he does give a speach to cultists, cheap , i forgot, whats about freedom, free will, rebellion, not taking that poor girls life . And mashima pretty much despite terrible means and intentionsstill delfish, he seems to want freedo, free will, rebellion. Didnt consider that sybil is just an echo chamber of lone sad people forcing that on everyone else. :( But its true i guess, and kinda true for some groups in real life :(
I love him as a character so much because he does terrible things, but the world provides a genuine reason for why he does them. He's not evil because there has to be villain as many stories have, but because he is the natural result of the setting. He serves as an expression of what's been forgotten, and the conversation is about whether they should remember those things or not, with him saying yes, and others saying no, with true debate as to which is right I'm also proud that I was able to provide some new perspective on the minds of Sibyl here as well. Despite their overt villainy, even they aren't so simple
