nice bit of re engineering, that's what I'm into, built my dune buggy from trampolines, security fence, parts from 4 cars and bits of push bike, BBQ and play swing. can't beat free!!!
Tanner thanks so much for your awesome comment! I really appreciate that :) The quad truck has been real useful around my place, I use it just about ever day! Take care and if you get time I posted a part 3. part 4 is in the works, I’m working on a hydraulic lift for the bed, I salvaged a power steering system from a car.

Dude, that´s a piece of a mule you fabricated there. That thing is going to outlast many of us. Once the engine gives to the spirit, just throw another and keep going. Dang. Awesome. Congratulations and thanks you very much for sharing.

I just took a moto4 and stretched the frame and swing arm around 10". Made a steel flat bed. I didnt go as big on the box as you did but mine is a boat load stronger and shaft driven. I was copying as many aspects as i could from the 1989 yamaha pro hauler.
@@Mikefestiva it's just 2 drive shafts welded together so it's only 4 1/2" inches longer at the swing arm. The other 5 1/2" is a frame stretch. It has 3 rear shocks to keep loads up. But she pulls too. Just this weekend I was hauling a trailer with 2 other Moto4s on it. Had to drag a locked up riding mower the other day. Not bad for having no weight on the back. I wish I could post pics here
Thanks for checking out my project! I definitely recommend building something like this, I use it all the time. Does your quad still run? If so that’s good, mine was in awful shape when I started. Keep me posted on your progress!
@@Mikefestiva yes the quad still runs. I paid 50 dollars for it at my local trash dump. Got it home still had the key and a battery and some gas and fired right up. Only had to replace the chain and rode it everywhere
That’s great! Your already half way there on your project! I don’t know if you saw part 1 of the quad truck video but It took me a lot of work to re power it just so it would drive again. The frame extension and dump bed was not to much to build. I would however recommend if you make it dump, just buy a more powerful linear actuator then I started out with, keeping it electric is simple, I ended up converting mine to hydraulic and it has amazing power but at a cost of complicating the machine. Take care!
Ha ha. I was gonna comment about the sharp edges, but you saw them too. Really functional and it looks cool too (but I kinda liked the wood). Great work . Thanks for the vid.

Interesting build. I am doing something similar with a trx250x. Though instead of extending the swingarm, I split the frame and extended the wheel base to 6ft. I'm not making it a straddler like a quad...I picked up a bench seat for a go kart and making it to function more like a golf cart or gator with a bed. I even cut the steering shaft and added a U joint, then converted to a steering wheel rather than handle bars
That sounds like a cool project your working on! I thought about converting mine over to a bench seat and steering wheel but decided to just run it the way it is for now. Are you going to post a video of your build? If so I would like to see how it comes along. Take care Michael
I have a UA-cam channel called BecauseRabbler where I am chronicling the twin turbo conversion of a 1964 Rambler Classic. I thought about doing a video series on this build, because it sure seems like kart based builds get a lot more views, but I wasn't sure I'd have much to share. I'm making it up as I go along. It is coming along well though. Tonight I built the dash panel and worked out the steering angles. By this weekend I should have a rolling chassis. Any regrets on using the 212 predator? I was thinking about using the 420, but the torque converter starts getting pretty expensive as you as horsepower.
Nice job there, seems like Polaris makes a 4 wheeler with a bed but yours is much better in relation to actual useful bed size and the front rack is a necessity on a farm vehicle like that, plus all the stuff you add on as you see a need. You're obviously a crafty dude.
Thanks for the nice comments! I think your right about Polaris, a friend gave me the Polaris 6x6 version years ago, It's not running any more, I need to do some carb work and get some new tires, When it ran it was almost un stoppable in 6 wheel drive, The 250 two stroke smoked so bad the only thing good about it was it would keep the mosquitos away when running it ;)

Suggest a guard for the top of your battery. Leave an 1/8" gap so that the wood can expand when wet. The wood bed is more forgiving, and prevents things from sliding around. You're going to see dings in the aluminum over time. Some rear fenders would be good too.

This contraption is almost exactly what I'm looking to build! I wish I had a better connection to parts. I'm on disability, so cheaper is better! I live just outside of town, and have nothing to move all this stuff around with!
Cool project. I saw another version of this where they lengthened the machine in the middle (in front of the engine) which allows you to retain the rear suspension.
I like the idea of a battery upfront. The damn things weigh like 40lbs. If you need more steering you should put a area where you can add bricks and remove them as needed
Just like when you build a deck, you have to leave spaces between boards to allow for movement when it swells or shrinks due to moisture. I hope the AL works out for you but i like the wood better, it doesn't dent.
I know, looking back I should have spaced it out, I was thinking of moving dirt and sand from time to time and did not want it falling through the cracks but instead I got a buckled bed that I needed to do over again, Live and learn :)
You need a Vtwin 22 hp that would really do some work. That is a kick ass little workhorse though, well done! Oh yeh. Put straight pipes on it. Just kidding.
What a great project! You're doing a really nice job. And nice work on the video also; your editing was really good! I was forced to subscribe and hit the notification bell because I really want to see part 3 - lol Thanx for sharin' Mike!
Thanks David! I appreciate your nice comments :) It's good to hear that you build fun projects too, It's always fun building new things out of old parts!
Haha maybe when you build your's you can add the 20hp motor to satisfy the speed demon :) but this small motor powers it just fine for my needs, This has been a budget build and I think I have $500 to $600 total into this entire quad truck, a 20hp motor would have cost more then the complete build. I kind of like taking the minimal approach with the smaller motor, it's fun for me to see what I can do with a low hp motor. PS did you see the video where a guy put a 6.5hp predator motor in a full sized 4x4 truck frame, with the right gearing that little motor will move that weight! Take care :)
I find it to be even more useful then I ever figured it would have been when I started off building it. I have a small 4x4 tractor and it's a great machine but I use the quad truck more often around my house because it's quick to start, travels faster and is more stable on my trail and it can haul more firewood on every trip. Thanks for watching!
Cool! New subscriber because of this video! I've been wanting to build one of these for quite a while. Your build here will help me when I get to it, thanks for sharing your build! P.S. I rebuilt a few old Cub Cadet mowers and I used rubberized undercoating to help protect the battery tray. I let it dry well, then sprayed over it with the Cub Cadet Yellow paint. It has been on there now for over 15 years and there is still no rust so I can say it worked just fine. Also, if you use wood for a floor in your bed you have to space it or that will happen every time when it gets wet and swells up. Also, very nice aluminum bed! 👍
hey i have a kdx also and i to have been restoring mine they are a good woods bike good choice i love mine its a 19 86 kdx 200 and its the fastest 200 i have ever seen good luck with yourse mine turned out nice
Nice! The KDX is a great trail bike! I really liked mine, unfortunately It suffered some major engine problems and was going to be to costly for me invest anymore money into, it did have a glorious ending, the last major ride I did with it was the Odessa 100 mile desert race, the bike did great! But after returning home the engine didn’t far well. Thanks for commenting. Have fun on that bike 🙂 I have a KTM XCW 200 now. I do miss the KDX
I'm glad you get it, It's a utility garden tractor :) Some people just can't get the fact that this quad truck is geared down to go only about 15 MPH top speed, it's a garden tractor :) Not a hi performance race quad Haha There's been a few comments that the front fenders will be something that will cause danger to me, I think they are really missing the point. It's to move brush, firewood small loads of dirt around at a slow speed and it beats the hell out of pushing a wheelbarrow up hills. That's great you built something very similar, they are really nice to have around! Thanks for the nice comments :)
Mike festiva Yes, I know all about the negativity that people tend to post in the comments. That’s why I no longer bother making any videos for UA-cam. I built lots of projects and I’m very mechanically inclined. However, there are just a lot of people that have nothing better to do with their time then to negatively criticize other peoples projects and creativity. I take things too personally, and I tend to get caught up in trying to defend myself against all of these idiots. It’s just not worth it! You know exactly what I mean.
I completely know what your talking about, there's been a few times now I thought about not continuing to make and posting my project videos because of peoples rude comments. It's funny how people that make the rudest comments are experts on everything telling how you really should have done it, But if you go to there youtube page to see what there uploading they have never even posted one video to youtube, they are justTrolls! I'm going to try and focus on replying to the positive comments and try not to spend time commenting back to the trolls. Thanks again for your nice comments :)
Mike festiva i posted an engine swap video on a Ride On Mower once and one of the comments i received was “More of a LOOK AT ME video than a HOW TO.”. that pretty much did it for me. No more videos. I dont get enough out of trying to help or entertain others. its not worth my time when i get rude feedback like that.
either way this is an awesome build. ive been thinking about doing something similar for quite a while. if you went with a dash and bench seat it would need some sort of floor board as well. which might all add too much weight to the current setup. keep doing you though. it seems to serve you well pal.
I know! the wood was looking cool, but the rain was really getting to it, I could have put it back down with space between the wood but I wanted to move sand from time to time and did not want it to fall between the cracks. Thanks for watching!
"We'll see if it goes long enough for part 3." (You said at the end of part 1.) You've certainly managed that :-) I found you from watching your 12 part Predator powered articulated mini tractor build. Great series. I see your style has changed a bit, but it's all really awesome content and I love all the explanations as you go. Thanks for making all these videos.
Thanks for checking out my channel Andrew 👍 My quad truck is still working, I just don’t use it much anymore because I have the articulating dump truck for most jobs. I think I’m going to give the quad truck to a friend so they have something to move firewood around with 👍
@@Mikefestiva It would be a shame to let it go to waste. Meanwhile though I shall enjoy slowly working my way through your channel, hopefully picking up a little of your knowledge as I go, and wishing that I had even a fraction of your fabrication skills (as I suspect many of your viewers do).
That is so cool :o) I’m doing mods to a diablo diesel quad by fitting a floor crane on the back and using a floor cleaner gearbox as a steering box so it is a side by side. (With a huge seat like arm rest)
Thanks! Your project sounds good, I would like to see a video of your quad when your done with it. You will need to let me know when your finished with it :)
I just finished up my nephews dirt bike project, so I plan on finishing my quad truck up next. I have been hauling fire wood in the bed of the quad truck and the linear actuator is just strong enough to dump a full load of maple log rounds but it's not crazy strong, If your planning on running the floor crane I would not recommend the linear actuators because most of the small ones like I used only lift a max of 220# or so, hydraulics would be far better in your application. I hope this helps and I also hope to finish up the quad truck and video soon. Take care PS I hope you share a video on youtube of your build!
I thought I could buy a pop-in pump, but I can't find one? So it looks like it is front PTO machining job. (I hear you on the electro rams) Next achievement job is carrying stuff, so the bulldozer blade is getting a visor to make it a four-in-one bucket. I have the base plate bent in 3mm steel.
Robert Boyer I found the plug on Amazon, I’m sure e bay has them as well. Look up (Dinse plug) the size is 50, it will say something like 35 50 for the size, if you look up dinse plug 50 you seem to just get plugs with 50 feet of cable so just look up Dinse plug, they run about $8 to $12 dollars. I hope this helps you out. Ps Dinse is a standard welding lead plugin on a lot of welders so that’s nice they stuck with something that works with many machines.
Robert Boyer Nice! Did you buy the extra warranty? I did for peace of mind, I bought mine right when they first came out back in October, it’s been trouble free so far, it just works real good, I just was running a Lincoln weld pack 140 at my work the other day and my Omnipro welds considerably better then the Lincoln! I hope your as happy with your Vulcan as I am with mine :)
Mike festiva I did not buy the warranty. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me. I did buy a ton of other accessories to go with it. Their spool gun, tig gun, heavy duty cabinet (really nice) then splurged and bought the Lincoln 3350 viking helmet in the twisted metal scheme. I'm still planning on making an adapter like yours so I can leave the mig gun connected.
Robert Boyer Right on! You treated your self to some fresh gear! It’s nice putting some cash into new tools. I just picked up a used Miller auto dimming helmet a few moths ago, it’s definitely seen some use but it’s got a lot of life in it still, some day I will treat myself to a new welding helmet too. I’m fairly sure your welder should be problem free but I think you have about a month??? To buy the warranty if you change your mind. Well I hope you get that welder unboxed and start on a project soon :) take care!
I know you already spent a lot of time on the metal front fenders, but I think you should but a sheet of fluted plastic and build some brackets of of the front rack and rivet the plastic to the brackets to make plastic fenders. 1. It's safer in a crash 2. Cheaper and easier to replace 3. It'll probably look better

I like the idea of a battery upfront. The damn things weigh like 40lbs. If you need more steering you should put a area where you can add bricks and remove them as needed
Looks like a fun project. Nice work!
Thanks!
Excellent ....looks like a nice build...the pleather is hilarious.....
Thanks for checking out my quad truck project!
Thanks for checking out my quad truck project!
Hey man good job and every vid that I watch makes me want to build one and thanks so much for inspiring me
Did you treat the wood? If not thats probably why it buckeld.
yeah, great channel i like lil things you can throw together out of nothing. keep it up!
Thanks!
You need a Vtwin 22 hp that would really do some work. That is a kick ass little workhorse though, well done! Oh yeh. Put straight pipes on it. Just kidding.
dude put a piece of rubber under the battery so it dont rub a hole in the bottom great job on the truck !
I salute your welding I hope to be that good someday!
Thanks :) You will get there!
Take care
What a great project! You're doing a really nice job. And nice work on the video also; your editing was really good!
I was forced to subscribe and hit the notification bell because I really want to see part 3 - lol
Thanx for sharin' Mike!
Thanks for subscribing! I really appreciate your nice comments too!
same here lol
Mike, that looks great! 'pretty much the nicest ATV I've ever seen. I do builds like that myself, and it never loses its appeal.
Thanks David!
I appreciate your nice comments :)
It's good to hear that you build fun projects too, It's always fun building new things out of old parts!
great little atv, honestly though i feel you need closer to 20hp but im a little speed demon so it might just be me
Haha maybe when you build your's you can add the 20hp motor to satisfy the speed demon :) but this small motor powers it just fine for my needs, This has been a budget build and I think I have $500 to $600 total into this entire quad truck, a 20hp motor would have cost more then the complete build.
Great Job! Thats some beautiful land as well.
Thanks!
Can't wait for part 3. U shoud do a press axel behind
This was a very neat video, keep up the good work
Thanks for checking it out!
both clever and made a very practical vehicle for your needs
I find it to be even more useful then I ever figured it would have been when I started off building it.
I have a small 4x4 tractor and it's a great machine but I use the quad truck more often around my house because it's quick to start, travels faster and is more stable on my trail and it can haul more firewood on every trip.
Thanks for watching!
you could just leave a 1/8 inch gap between the wood planks for the swelling .
Awesome video man! I wish I could do that to my Chinese quads
you got skills. nice job.
Thank you!
I appreciate that :) Thanks for checking out my quad truck project.
Awesome this is the kind of stuff I do when I have the metal!
Thanks for checking out my quad truck project Robert!
I Hope to see a photo or video when you finish it :)
Thats nice man i need to build one of these. It would be nice to have around the family farm
Thanks for checking out my quad truck project!
Your talented bro. And i remember that Kmart commercial. Hilarious.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
I remember kids growing up saying Kmart fall apart Haha!
Man y'all don't get a big head but that is one beautiful lbead I mean you laid it ! Aluminum wow!
Haha Thanks Eric :)
You done a good job man
Thanks :)
Put spot welds down in the new bed flooring so it has some grip. nice build I loved to make things like that. also new to tthe channel
Or-----cover it with a piece of rubber belting.
hey i have a kdx also and i to have been restoring mine they are a good woods bike good choice i love mine its a 19 86 kdx 200 and its the fastest 200 i have ever seen good luck with yourse mine turned out nice
I do miss the KDX
great utility machine... nicely done. i built a garden tractor very similar in design. use it daily. nothing like it.
I'm glad you get it, It's a utility garden tractor :)
Some people just can't get the fact that this quad truck is geared down to go only about 15 MPH top speed, it's a garden tractor :) Not a hi performance race quad Haha There's been a few comments that the front fenders will be something that will cause danger to me, I think they are really missing the point. It's to move brush, firewood small loads of dirt around at a slow speed and it beats the hell out of pushing a wheelbarrow up hills.
That's great you built something very similar, they are really nice to have around!
Thanks for the nice comments :)
Mike festiva
Yes, I know all about the negativity that people tend to post in the comments.
Mike festiva
i posted an engine swap video on a Ride On Mower once and one of the comments i received was “More of a LOOK AT ME video than a HOW TO.”. that pretty much did it for me. No more videos. I dont get enough out of trying to help or entertain others. its not worth my time when i get rude feedback like that.
Very cool welder adapter
Thanks I'm glad you noticed that!
I finally bought a metal lathe and it's so nice to be able to turn things like that.
Take care :)
I feel like elon musk saw these fenders and inspiration for the cyber truck.
Haha 😂 yes it’s got the cyber truck look to the fenders! Thanks for checking out my channel 👍
Pretty cool making something out of cheap stuff
Jim P. lol this guy gets it ^
I love the Machine. Great work. Well done
Your buddy gives you everything.
I have some good friends :)
You should put a gusset on each side of that tow bar like a square cut in a 45 one on each side
Is it possible to put a manual trans behind the CVT ? Give it some deep reduction gears
Reminds me of Mustie1's rat rod quad. Dope
Looking good! I like your custom Seat ! LOL
Haha thanks!
why not weld up a dash and seat pan and make it a bench seat with a steering wheel? Possibly use a chain driven shaft for the steering?
either way this is an awesome build. ive been thinking about doing something similar for quite a while. if you went with a dash and bench seat it would need some sort of floor board as well. which might all add too much weight to the current setup. keep doing you though. it seems to serve you well pal.
Nice work my friend I'm very impressed.fist bump!
Awesome ATV. But I think the engibe is weak for all that weight.
That sucks that wood had to go, the look of it after being used was pretty nice
I know! the wood was looking cool, but the rain was really getting to it, I could have put it back down with space between the wood but I wanted to move sand from time to time and did not want it to fall between the cracks.
Thanks for watching!
Nice job bro, awesome work.
Thanks!
Man that thing is too cool I'd like to make one of them
Great Video!! You explain things well !! Subbed! Liked !!
"We'll see if it goes long enough for part 3." (You said at the end of part 1.) You've certainly managed that :-)
I found you from watching your 12 part Predator powered articulated mini tractor build.
Video #2 down and still liking it ! 👍 👍
Is it possible to finish it? I don't know if I should have those 12 volt linear actuators or hydraulics next? :o)
Take care
PS I hope you share a video on youtube of your build!
Great vid nice welds. K-mart ad lmao be well eh.
Thanks!
maybe put some raptor spray on the bed. Would look alot cooler and it protects the metal and your tools wont slide around
A little diamond plate over the battery, and under the frame would protect it from rocks and such
Hello again sir. Where did you get the lead you used for that Miller Spoolgun adapter? The one that plugs in to the Vulcan machine. Thank you.
Robert Boyer I found the plug on Amazon, I’m sure e bay has them as well. Look up
(Dinse plug) the size is 50, it will say something like 35 50 for the size, if you look up dinse plug 50 you seem to just get plugs with 50 feet of cable so just look up Dinse plug, they run about $8 to $12 dollars. I hope this helps you out. Ps Dinse is a standard welding lead plugin on a lot of welders so that’s nice they stuck with something that works with many machines.
Perfect. Thank you very much. Bought my OmniPro220 yesterday.
