    You are like the Bob Ross of book collectors. I can listen to you talk about books for hours as I scan your shelves. A great stress reliever! What I love the most about you is that you've read so much of what you collect. It's not just an object with an enticing cover and a number on the spine. It's a story, or history, or a fun or interesting read. :-) BTW - I collect Star Trek which is how I found you.

    Interesting story about the guy who was held hostage. Pretty wild that he wanted to collect them again for old time's sake. If I were a hostage I'm not sure I would want to revisit that period in my life, haha! But I guess they provided him with comfort, so there's that. What a fascinating story.
    Edit: I love how the Hard Case Crime books look on a shelf! You mentioned they've had recent success with Stephen King's recent work, but they've also gotten into the graphic novel and manga business, believe it or not! I recommend Ryuko, which is a gangster story about a badass chick on a motorcycle, written and drawn by world renown sculptor-turned-cartoonist Eldo Yoshimizu.

    • @JulesBurt
      @JulesBurt  3 роки тому +1

      I think that's what it was, a comfort thing rather than anything else. I did know that Hard Case Crime did those comics but confess to not having read any yet. By the sound of it I better give them a try🙂

    Great collection, Jules and so tidy! I'm jealous. I loved your Pan Advertising card and that little Penguin statue. So cool! When were those from? While I have a small collection of U.S. Penguins (I don't really collect them) I do have a vintage wood and metal table top display. You have a nice collection of Mapbacks. Early Dells in nice condition are hard to find. I believe Dell used cheaper bindery resulting in a lot of books with spine slants. I was surprised that I only saw one Pocket Book UK edition (Pickwick Papers). As a US Pocket collector I've started hunting for them. They are not easy to find especially here in the US. Have you ever encountered any of the UK Ace DOUBLES? I think there are 3 or 4. Thanks again for the video.

    • @JulesBurt
      @JulesBurt  3 роки тому

      Hi Brad, I'll try and answer the questions as they come, over a few replies....the Penguin statue was from a promo about 15 years ago, I was given one by a Penguin book rep🙂 Glad you like the Pans, they are a favourite. I'd like to see that wood and metal display you mentioned....

      I do like those early Dell's, especially the mapbacks, just so hard to find in the UK. I'm not really a big fan of the UK Pocket Books, that one is in really nice condition though. Not got any UK Ace doubles though🙂
